Ola is a poor girl from Scotland. Her life is dull and she seeks some excitement. After her fathers death she disguises herself as a princess of a fake country and goes to England. There she meets the godson of queen Victoria our hero john and she falls deeply in love for the first time in her life.
But the fairytale ends when her disguise is revealed cause of John and she is thrown into prison. Will she find it her heart to forgive John for his betrayal?
Super romantic wonderful love story. These two were so deeply in love and so smitten I got goosebumps!!

I read this book in french and I liked it very, very much. If you like romance books, I recommend you to read this.

This book was so cheesy, it made my lactose intolerance act up. Fun twist at the end though, and all the swooning and shining gazes you could ask for.

This one was pretty good 3.5
It’s different from many other of her cookie cutter ones in that:
The Hero (Duke) is not the usual arrogant, snobbish, superior aristocrat BC usually writes.
He is actually quite nice and immediately smitten with the heroine.
The heroine is also unusual in that she is quite feisty. No wilting flower here, unlike many other BC heroines. When she gets caught out of her disguise and thinks she is betrayed by the Duke, she gives him a hard time and does not let up!!
The Duke is the one that does the groveling until she forgives him! So yes wow 😁 nice backbone heroine! 👍🏻

At first I wasn’t sure I was going to like Ola since her idea to visit London of pretending to be a princess of a REAL country because she thinks she’s boring is pretty far out there. But when that scenario pays off later in the book, when she’s forced to pretend to be that princess to fool the enemy of the Crown, things get real interesting. I also love the fact that John knew that she was lying the whole time but fell for her anyway - and thank god for that because he managed to get her out of a lot of trouble 😂

Ola our daring heroine, was mostly childish in her schemes and played the flop all to often. Wanted to love it but I just didn’t .

Barbara Cartland was an amazing author. She wrote 723 books and I remember reading her books when I was a teenager. Her romances have innocent heroines and dashing heroes with an uplifting, moral message. I also read some of her books translated in Spanish. They have been sold all over the world. It's just nice to forget the evil world sometimes and escape to a fairytale.

this is one of the best books of barbara cartland.i enjoyed it thoroughly. ola is a simple girl who after her fathers death wanted to do some adventure so disguises herself as a princess of a fake country and goes to england. there she meets our hero john and falls in love.
john, as he suspects ola is not a real princess tags along with her for 2 days and falls in love. but her disguise is revealed and she is thrown into prison.after some events john and ola reunites.
