Wiping an individual’s memories back to birth was intended to make Investigative journalist Vernon Bass incapable of recalling why he had been investigating a high profile business baron. It worked. Leaving him in another country to die. Didn’t. Returned to the UK as an adult forced to relearn his native tongue should have taken longer, but Bass was older than any other victim who shared the same experience and memories stored other than in his brain helped bring back his early years. With just the last five years out of reach he agreed to be a guinea pig for a group of doctors with a machine designed for communication with an individual’s soul. The theory by doing so he might recover all lost memories. However, meeting his soul took him on another journey. A journey no one especially Bass, could ever have imagined.
Summary Memory Loss is a sci-fi adventure by Bob Price. The story revolves around Vernon Bass, an investigative journalist whose memories have been removed to prevent him from investigating a high-profile business baron. In hope of returning all his lost memories, he agreed to be a human experimental subject for a group of doctors with a soul-communicating machine that enables an individual to meet his soul. Vernon didn't know he was up for a journey no one could ever imagine.
Review What did I read? That was the first thing I said after finishing this book. My reading experience was quite nostalgic. Vernon uncovers his past bit by bit and the pieces of information are slowly putting him back together, except there’s more to his situation that makes him a tool for something more farfetched. And we all know when we go on a journey to self-discovery, it can be emotional, invigorating, and sometimes a bit scary. This book made me rethink about things that I might not know about myself, but other people do. It’s fiction but encompasses facts about life that have been recreated to fit another world for readers who are into out-of-this world stories. I love the mystery, nostalgia, enlightenment, and entertainment this book has brought to my days of reading. Hence, I am giving it 5 out of 5 stars.
The funny thing is that the story is unique and yet it tackles a topic that is so familiar. Maybe it’s the execution of narrative that you can separate the book from other sci-fi adventures about innovations and human experiments but for me there is something nostalgic about erasing everything in your life, only to pick up the pieces together and embark on an unimaginable journey. Overall, this is 5 out of 5 stars!
I’m at a lost for words. It’s a first for me to read this kind of topic where you lose your memories and become a guinea pig for a soul-communicating machine. This is definitely an original work that readers won’t see anywhere else. It was very intriguing so I’m giving it two thumbs up and 5 whole stars. Highly recommended!
This has been very intriguing from the beginning and the fact that I don’t know what’s going to happen next kept me on the edge of the seat. I sure hope it gets adapted into the big screen because there’d be lots of goosebumps moments. And for that, I’m rating this book 5 stars for its unpredictable plot and interesting concept.
