Kay Richards can’t worry about falling in love. She loves sci-fi adventures, but since she was turned into a werewolf in a horrific attack – and lost her parents alongside her humanity – she doesn't know what to make of her life. As she sees it, she's a monster, not the independent girl she used to be. Kay will do everything in her power to get who she was back.Rhys Maddox should have his whole life planned out for him. The new alpha of his family's pack, he is determined to fix his father's mistakes and outshine him in every way. Just because his family believes he needs to take a mate doesn't mean he’ll marry the first wolf who catches his eye. He'll do things his way – whether the pack likes it or not.And that includes folding Kay and her brother Corwin into the Maddox pack. Rhys and Kay have always been drawn to each other, ever since they met in high school. Now, as adults, both share the same supernatural secret. But meddling friends, a bratty little sister, and the threat of an arranged marriage could keep Rhys and Kay from crossing the line from friends to mates.
As someone who lives in the area that this book is set in, I really felt like a part of the book. It was great to see little Maine towns represented! I also loved the main character, Kay. She felt real and down to earth. I really liked the relationship that she formed with Rhys, finding a comfort that she needed. Great setting and character building! I can't wait to see what comes in future books!
This was a one day cover to cover read for me! It sucked me in and didn’t let me go. Now I just wanna know, when’s the next book and who will it focus on?
I loved the contrasts between the born and bitten werewolf shifters. I’m also a sucker for the brother’s best friend trope. The side characters were phenomenal, too many outstanding ones to go through. I also loved all the nerdy goodness sprinkled throughout.
Kay and Rhys story was so cute, I loved being along for the ride! Also, if you love a good side character, Danger is one the best friend everyone needs. Loved them!
How Wild are We is a masterclass in so many things, I need a list to organize them. 1. How really, really ridiculously HOT enthusiastic consent can be. 2. The reality of recovering from trauma 3. LGBTQIA+ inclusion 4. Realistic friendships, IN A ROMANCE, that pass the Bechtel test.
I picked up this book and finished it in two days... while running a small business and wrangling a pre-schooler.
Amie Lynne Martin manages to portray multiple complex relationships between an inclusive cast of characters that leap off the page- in the confines of a paranormal romance without stretching the limits of the genre, while maintaining the pace of the story.
My husband also enjoyed the side effects of this book 😜
