Never Have I Ever

She can't remember. He can't forget.

An Enemies to Lovers, Rock Star, Second Chance, Standalone Romance from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, S.L. Scott.

Flat on my back is not how I imagined meeting my new boss and hot-as-sin rock star. But here I am . . .

If I didn’t already have amnesia, I’d be wishing for it now.

In my defense, Laird Faris was only wearing a shameless smirk and a towel wrapped around his chiseled abs when we met.

Brooding.
Devastatingly handsome.
Utterly intolerable.

Naturally, I’m instantly attracted to him.

It’s not only his broad shoulders and gorgeous face that wreck my equilibrium, but also a distinct tattoo on his chest that matches one on my hip.

Our chemistry is off the charts.
Searing kisses make his grumpiness bearable.
Every touch we share is full of fire and flashes of memories, making me wonder if our connection isn’t destiny after all.

But do the secrets he hides behind his icy blue eyes have something to do with the weekend I can’t remember and the past he can’t forget?

Poppy Stanfield is starting fresh after narrowly escaping death in an accident two years ago. Now working as a private chef, she's faced with a boss who seems to greatly dislike her from the very beginning. She has no idea why and no memory of what happened the weekend of her accident.

With his life in a downward spiral, Laird Faris is trying to move on from love and the woman who vanished from his life two years ago. His bandmates gave him the ultimatum - get your life together or leave the band.

When their paths once again collide in the most unexpected way, it's up to Laird to help Poppy remember the past and the love they once shared.

Laird had the absolute patience of a saint. 🙌 He was so far gone for her, and I was totally here for it! Their witty, and often comical banter, was so entertaining. You could absolutely feel their connection radiating off of the pages!

"But it was the strength of your love that saved us both in the end."

Poppy didn't have the easiest life/past, and the way that Laird's family embraced her as one of their own completely melted my heart. They both 100% deserved an HEA. There's no doubt in my mind that Laird and Poppy are meant to be. Their love story is truly beautiful and makes me believe in soul mates.

"I will choose you every time. In every lifetime. Our past, present, and future. I will never discount the power of destiny again. I'm embracing it."

You'll love this book if you enjoy:
🩵 Miscommunication
💙 Rockstar MMC
🩵 Second chance love
💙 Forced proximity
🩵 He falls first
💙 Workplace romance
🩵 Insta love

I was gifted an advanced digital copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest thoughts. Thank you SL Scott!

What an emotional rollercoaster!

I have read insta-love before, but this takes the biscuit!!!! Seriously, it's nano seconds!

Laird is a famous guitarist in a band and Poppy, we discover that later, she is a private chef. They meet at one of the band's concert. I'm still unclear if it was one night or the weekend, netherless, they made plans, had sex, and got matching tattoos. Unfortunately, Poppy doesn't meet Laird the next day (so they can get married), and two years later, pass by.

We found out that weekend Poppy got into a car accident and has amnesia and only can't remember that weekend. Laird, meanwhile, is portrayed as a besotted, fixated, devoted man to Poppy and the memories they made.

I liked Laird and Poppy. Inevitably, they meet again, and Poppy doesn't recognise him, not even his name. Eventually, Laird discovers why she has no recollection of him. I liked how he was so patient with her and did everything to win her back. I found it so strange and annoying when all of a sudden, Laird is faced with a paternity test. A woman he slept with in the two years is claiming paternity potentially of her child. Seriously, a man who was so in love, besotted with Poppy, has a foursome! I don't care how drunk a man who claims to be so in love found his soul mate doesn't have a foursome!

Many tropes to enjoy:

◇ Rock Star
◇ Amnesia
◇ Second Chance
◇ Insta-Love
◇ Forced proximity
◇ Enemies to lovers

Wow what a ride! This book was emotional and frustrating! We get a glimpse into the night Laird and Poppy meet and it was insta-love. Poppy is in a horrible accident the day after they meet and loses her memory from that weekend. Destiny brings the 2 of them back together two years later. Poppy has absolutely no idea who Laird is, only that she was hired to be his personal chef while he was taking a mini vacation to get himself back together after dealing with the heartbreak of losing poppy years prior. He finally puts all the pieces together as to why she has no recollection of who he is. But they fall in love all over again. Two things I didn’t understand was how her best friend who was with her at the concert and the weekend she met laird had, did she not know poppy had been with laird that weekend? Could she not fill her in on some details? Secondly, the OW drama pregnancy scare like 70% of the way through the book made no sense. Yeah I get laird was dealing with the heartbreak of poppy not showing up, but a woman coming out of the wood work two years later asking for a paternity test? It would have been better written as him being so heartbroken and destroyed that he didn’t sleep with anyone since poppy. But instead he had a foursome in Nashville? That just didn’t mesh well with the broken man he was portrayed to be. Overall a decent read, but nothing spectacular.

Self note:

Idk, but I feel like most of the books by this author are always second chances. That has a guy who is apparently in love with the fmc but still gets involved with OW during their separation. I only read 3 books by this author, and two of them were second chances with long ass separation. And this one seems to be just like all her other 2nd chance books, so yeah, not for me.

Thank you to the author and Hambright PR for this copy for my honest review.
There were definitely parts of this book that I enjoyed. I'm usually not an insta love person, but with this book, I actually thought it worked. There were a few things that didn't work for me - one was how her best friend did not know about them? They were at the concert together.. hello? And there was major miscommunication, and I wasn't a huge fan of that. Otherwise, I did enjoy myself reading this book. After reading this, I think I need more Rockstar romances in my life.

Give me all the Rockstar romance recs!

This book is very surface level. Like I get no emotions from it. Also, almost nothing happens. They meet, she has the accident, they don't see each other. They meet, but she doesn't remember they fall in love. She remembers. The end. No actual conflict. I'm so over these insta love tropes because there is no development of feelings of love. They make books seem so emotionless. There is a lot of telling what happening instead of showing what's happening.
The whole thing with her mom and the paternity scare were also pointless. They come up, and then it's a nonissue and then bam book over.
Some of the dialog tripped me up too. Like there were multiple times when I had to go back and read through the dialog to make sense of who was saying what and how it fit into what was happening at the moment.

Laird & Poppy – oh my word. Their story was second chance, enemies-to-lovers perfection. It was way more emotional for me than I expected, and I loved every second of it! All. The. Stars!

Stars: 5/5
Spice: 3/5

Rock star Laird has been having a hard time and goes to his family’s cabin to clear his head. But he’s surprised to find a woman in the kitchen. And the last thing he expects is for that woman to be Poppy – when he hasn’t seen her in two years.

I loved everything about this. Poppy was trying to move on with her life and at the same time, desperate to figure out the truth of her past. And Laird? I love him. He was broody and broken and just going through the motions of life. And when he finally lets his walls down? Gimme. I may have just melted into a puddle on the floor. I could not read it fast enough and didn’t want it to end, all at the same time. Highly recommend!

“Our attraction was instant, our chemistry undeniable, and the freedom to do as we please recklessly exhilarating.”

Laird and Poppy…. Oh my what can I say…. I anticipate any book S.L. Scott puts out. I love how characters from different series intermingle with each other and connect her books. I now have to go back and revisit The Crow Brothers series where Laird makes his first appearance, and Poppy is from my favorite series The Westscotts. (If you haven’t read any of those books I highly recommend them!)

“It hadn’t occurred to me until that moment that I might not have been meant to be with her the first time. That this time around might be my redemption.”

This book pulls at the heartstrings in all the right places. It makes you believe in “Kismet. Destiny. Whatever we call it, it’s real.” Fighting for the person you love. Knowing that person is your safe space and your home, even if you have to make them fall in love all over again.

“I will choose you every time. In every lifetime. Our past, present, and future. I will never discount the power of destiny again.”

You can’t help but to fall in love with these characters and this story! 🩵 Happy Reading! ⭐️🌹

The book starts with a one night stand between Laird and Poppy and then moves forward to the second chance aspect of the book. The first time they meet is one for all those believers in soul mates. When they found each other again I was giggling so much because of the misconceptions between them both. What hasn't changed is the attraction and connection between them, the way they just get each other was sweet and fun to read. I loved that Laird wasn't the typical rockstar dismissing Poppy instead he was all in, making plans for their future and how they would fit into each other's lives. I enjoyed the blending of other book series the author has written but if you haven't read them it doesn't matter because the storyline is easy to follow. I adored the characters of Laird and Poppy and how romantic the storyline feels. This was a story that was easy to get lost in, one that made me smile and swoon in equal measure. So if you want to see how this great love unfolds don't pass this book by.

I haven't read a book by SL Scott for a while and it was about time I did again.
Giving me an Enemies to Lovers, Rock Star, Second Chance story and you've caught me in your web.

Knowing that SL Scott pulls off the rock star trope like no other, I simply knew I had to read Never Have I Ever. And she did not disappoint. This storyline is refreshing with adorable characters that made my heart swoon.

This is a beautiful story, you should definitely pick up and give it a chance!

Laird & Poppy’s story is sweet and fiery. They meet at his concert, and fall fast for one another. They are ripped apart, but when they finally come back together, you can’t stop the connection they have. I loved that Laird is turned back around to her in no time flat. He can’t hold onto his anger. I loved it!

Wow! Just WOW! Never Have I Ever by S. L. Scott is a stand-alone rockstar/amnesia romance, and it was an incredible read! I loved every single word, from beginning to end! This is definitely one of my top reads of 2024.

Laird and Poppy's story was brilliantly told. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I was all in from the prologue! It was just so different from the usual rockstar romances. I was pleasantly surprised that it was the male rockstar that was so enamored after a one-night stand, and the amnesia part of the story was so good! The whole story was pure perfection, and highly recommended with a million stars!

Laird & Poppy met one night at one of his concerts, and they immediately fall in love. They share a night of passion, full of promises for the future. They agree to meet the next morning to begin a life together. Except, one of them is a no show.

The story is so well developed. the characters are described in such a way that you can't help but feel like you 'know' them. I did not know that this book is part of a series, and that some of the characters are returning characters from previous books, however the author does such a great job in recapping their lives to help with context, that it didn't matter.

The story is well paced and hooks you in immediately. This was un-put-downable.

I really enjoyed Laird & Poppy’s story! While this is a rockstar romance, the focus is less on that aspect as they spend much of the story in a snowed-in cabin together. I love the theme of how they found each other again and fell in love, even though Poppy didn’t remember their first meeting.

I didn’t like that Laird kept information from Poppy regarding their previous relationship. I would have been a lot more upset than Poppy was if that happened to me!

This is my first book by S.L. Scott, but I’ll definitely be returning to the Wescott family world.

I was hooked on Never Have I Ever from the prologue! Wow... I didn't expect it to pack such a punch but it did! The emotions I felt reading this story.... I was love bombed, I was destroyed, I was angry, I was happy.. man what a roller coaster. I believe in Destiny, and this story was full of Destiny.

Laird and Poppy met at a concert of Laird's in Austin, TX. They spent the weekend wrapped up in one another, feeling that instant love at first sight connection. Enough so that Laird asks Poppy to go on tour with him... only, Poppy doesn't show the next morning. When I tell you my heart broke for Laird... man it did.

Flash forward, Laird's bandmates/family has sent him to the lake house to get his mind together before they're due in the recording studio. He's been broken ever since Austin, 2 years prior. They hired a chef to come in for the week, make his meals and then disappear into a guest cabin. Only, Laird gets the shock of a lifetime when he walks into the kitchen and sees Poppy standing there.

Only Poppy is there as the chef. She has no recollection of the events of that magical weekend with Laird. She was in an accident, which caused her never to show up. When I tell you I was speed reading because my heart could not handle Laird not knowing the truth why Poppy didn't show that morning... I needed him to figure it out! And when he does.... I was speed reading because I needed Poppy to either get her memories back or find out the truth about her missing memories.

Watching Laird try to navigate this new norm with Poppy, while watching Poppy fall in love all over again with Laird was beautiful and heart tugging. The story was beautiful and I really enjoyed it!

Another swoony read from SL Scott! Never have I Ever starts out romantic and unpredictable. The opening of this book is everything! Two lovers intwined and dreaming of the possibilities! Gah! But then...life happens. Destiny, fate, and soulmates have all collided.

Time does not always heal all wounds as noted by Laird Faris, famous rock god of Faris Wheel. He is bitter and angry. His passion has fizzled as well as his patience. Lightning does strike twice and places Laird with "the one that got away," but the reunion is not a happy one. Poppy has no idea what happened one weekend two years ago. She woke up with amnesia from a car accident after narrowly escaping death. Their paths have once again crossed and wow! The anticipation of Poppy remembering Laird is almost too much!

She can't remember. I can't forget.

Never have I Ever has everything that we love about SL Scott's books: chemistry, steam, alpha men, fantastic women and lots of spice! I loved Poppy! Her kindness, her beauty, her soothing persona and her wild side are so much fun and warm feeling. Laird is part grumpy alpha (only because of his circumstance) and part holy hotness! There is definitely a slower pace with this one but I enjoyed every moment! SL Scott draws you in and makes you fall so in love with her characters.

There are many other interconnected stories that feature other members of Faris Wheel and lots of crossover character cameos. Nobody puts the "S" in swoon like S.L. Scott!

If you're a sucker for a rockstar romance with a second chance twist, Never Have I Ever by S.L. Scott is the book for you! The chemistry between Poppy and Laird is fire, and their journey together is full of twists, turns, and those heart-melting moments that make you believe in soulmates.

Poppy's amnesia leaves her in a whirlwind with Laird, who’s not only brooding and devastatingly handsome, but has a mysterious past that keeps you hooked. Their connection is undeniable, but with secrets and spicy tension between them, can they overcome their struggles and find their happily ever after? You'll be rooting for them the whole time.

I was given an ARC of this book but something told me I should check out the audio and I am so glad I did (it was less than $3!!), and I totally recommend it if you’re into audiobooks as much as I am!

The narration by Jacob Morgan and Summer Morton brought this story to life in a way that made me not want to stop listening! Jacob’s portrayal of Laird is everything I imagined, and Summer nails Poppy’s vulnerability perfectly.

This is the first book I’ve read by S.L. Scott, but it won’t be the last. The way she crafts complex characters and intertwines their emotions had me so invested that I couldn’t stop reading (or listening)!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

What an emotional rollercoaster. I think I’m beginning to love rockstar romances. I haven’t read too many but I’m such a fan.

Laird and Poppy have a whirlwind night of romance. It was an instant obsession that had them making plans that others would find absolutely crazy after only knowing each other one night.

This story takes a fast turn and you see how each have been dealing with life since that day. We get to see how they are now and if they spark is still there.

I was so invested in their tragic stories. The fact that Laird was a MESS for two years with all questions and no answers broke my heart…but the way he adjusts so dang quick when he gets a second chance makes me melt.

I’m not a fan of instalove, but the way this was written was beautiful and captivating. I enjoyed the love story and the rollercoaster of emotions they went through from start to finish.

Also…I HATE her mother 😂 I had to say it. What a terrible and spiteful lady. Glad Poppy finally grew a backbone.

If you love a sweet instalove romance with a rockstar and a chef, love some spice, and a lot of emotions, give this book a try!

Laird Faris is a rockstar who falls in love at one of his concerts with a fan named Poppy Stanfield in the crowd. He thought “this is the one” until she sadly disappears. Laird has no idea that’s because she gets into an accident and can’t remember him. Devastated he tries to move on and cannot until fate puts them in the same spot again. Two years later he still can forget about her and goes up to a cabin to clear his head. Poppy just happens to be the one chef that gets hired for his getaway. What are the chances? Can he make her remember what they had before? Boy, if he would have just asked her why don’t you remember me they could have gotten out if the “I don’t like you” faze alot faster lol. Communication is key. This is a love at first site to enemies to emotional second chance romance that will pull at your heart. Told in first person and dual POV.

Laird & Poppy

First ever read by S.l Scott and I loved it the words had me captivated. The story was everything and more I cried, laughed and cried some more even got a little frustrated at a point too. But overall I loved this story. Two people who Laird playing his guitar on stage and Poppy in the crowd watching him captivated. They spend a day together get drunk, eat barbecue get tattoos and have a long fun night. They make plans but when Laird is waiting in a restaurant for Poppy he gets mad, frustrated and even doubts that it was one sided. Until two years later who pops back into his life Poppy but not recognizing or remembering their time together.
This story had me in my feels and I loved every bit of it the games they played. Their destiny that no matter what happens that they will find their way back to each other over and over again.

Poppy is working as a private chef and trying to move on after an accident left her with amnesia. She is dealing with a very difficult boss and doesn’t understand what his problem is….

Laird is a rockstar and has been in a downward spiral after the woman of his dreams disappeared. He meets her again but she acts like she doesn’t know him…

Oh Laird, I loved how he was all in with Poppy - once he understood what was going on he was so patient and determined to get her to fall in love with again. There is no question they shared a special connection. I also loved how Laird’s family was so supportive of Poppy.

I thought the audio was really good! I liked how the two narrators brought these characters to life - we get this great sense of tension. I especially liked how Jacob gave Laird this great broody-ness to his voice.

So I’ve been all up in my feels with a book hangover and I needed just a little something to get me right and Laird and Poppy were just the thing!

I enjoyed every interaction between them and them with Poppy’s amnesia and their history? Was such a fun read!
Laird is on his last chance and I think finding Poppy again was meant to be, no matter how much he pretends to dislike her from the beginning.

I love the amnesia trope, and it, combined with the “he falls first,” makes it even sweeter. That’s what Author S.L. Scott has brought to the table with “Never Have I Ever.” Right from the prologue, the story establishes where Laird and Poppy started. It was undoubtedly a bit of insta-love and steamy. I love how the rest of the story was almost like a do-over of Laird and Poppy getting to know each other. Readers who dislike third-act break-ups will not have to worry about it, as “Never Have I Ever” does not have one. That is not to say there aren’t any minor angsty moments, but I liked how Laird and Poppy worked through them healthily. I enjoyed this story.

Wow it was pretty an emotional read. Insta-love, second chance, enemies to lovers…

It was going really cute and sweet, despite miscommunication and Laird’s decision to hide that they already met before accident… Until he mentions that he hooked up with 4 women at the same time after Poppy. Really? Foursome? When it states that he was heartbroken and destroyed. I know that it’s not exactly cheating since he thought Poppy didn’t show up at the diner. But for me knowing that it was AFTER Poppy and so soon really fucked up further reading. And then Poppy gets her memories back and it’s not even mentioned. It seemed really unnecessary for me to add that to the plot. And one more thing which I would not mention in order to avoid spoilers.

Also I think author intended to put a found family angle, but it was not written very well. I would like to see more interaction with Marina and her family (as her mother is more of a mother for Poppy than her own). Same goes for Laird’s siblings, but they do appear a few times.

Overall, it was a decent read, but nothing spectacular. Though had a lot of spice.
