This Dark Age - 2024 Edition - Volume 2: The Confrontation Between Man and Evil

Rate this book
This Dark Age is a traditionalist manual for understanding religion, politics, and spiritual anthropology. The project is on-going, and new editions will be published periodically as content is added. The 2024 edition is divided into six volumes, as Volume 1 - Introduction to the Modern World - contains a few introductory sections on present conditions and the fundamental outlook on the world that we have adopted. The volume is concluded with a kind of appendix on the issue of propaganda, which is indispensable if one wishes to understand the way modern men think and relate to society. Content from "The Case Against the Modern World" (a previous publication from the same author) has been incorporated into this volume, alongside various new sections.Volume 2 - The Confrontation Between Man and Evil - addresses the problem of evil and the ways in which we are called to confront evil depending on vocation. After proposing a theoretical framework to understand the duty of men and societies to resist evil, there follows a few studies on military history and theory.Volume 3 - Studies in Christianity - focuses on the author's own professed religion. First, there are sections on dogmatic theology which are intended to provide an overview of what the Catholic Church teaches in clear terms. The sections on dogma are far from complete, but in what is presented we have tried to avoid all controversy and speculation and to remain in strict obedience to the common opinions of theologians. In the later sections, which address issues like esoterism and mysticism, we have allowed ourselves a bit more speculative freedom, pursuing what seems most interesting and helpful.Volume 4 - Studies in Traditional Doctrine - contains various articles on what we have called ‘traditional doctrine’. Ultimately it is a work of comparative religion, but hopefully more beneficial on a spiritual level than what is typically published under that heading. There are overviews of several major religions.Volume 5 - Spiritual Anthropology - contains observations on what it means to be human. It outlines traditional teachings on the body-soul-spirit distinction, spiritual temperament, caste, race, sexual differentiation, and posthumous states (heaven, hell, purgatory, etc.).Volume 6 - Counsels - is more personal, addressing the obstacles presented to the seeker in our time. There are observations on how we relate to God, to ourselves, and there is also a section on political participation (or the lack thereof).
