In the copy I acquired, the proofreading was very sub-standard and why, oh why, did the page justification setting change in the first paragraph of Chapter 6, or thereabouts, onwards for successive chapters? The misplacements of commas, semi- and full colons and the failure to end speech parentheses are basic errors. The very odd space between each paragraph is inexplicable. The author's plot ideas are good and the novel could be recommended IF it would only read better.

I lost the plot a little during this one, it seemed to be a little disjointed, but I got there in the end. Love the father/brother relationship and the occasional dry humour. He always seems to get beaten up at some point!!

Robbie is defending one of two young men accused of killing a woman they picked up and whose body they hid.

Jill stays gone. Perhaps for good?

I heard about this book series only recently and have now finished Crime Fiction, the 5th in the series. Friends may say I have too much time on my hands, they would be wrong. The speed by which I have got to this point is testament to how good these books are. The characters are so well written, you will soon have pictures of them drawn in your mind. The stories are absorbing and move along at a great pace. The books are easy to read and hard to put down. I'm a big fan of this genre and it's a refreshing change to have the central character being a Defence Lawyer instead of a cop or detective. Keep them coming Mr McIntyre!
