I am and have been many owner of the Charleston Cougars, CFO of Maxfield Corp, and ex-Chicago mafia prince. One thing I was certain I’d never be called? Husband. So I offer to marry her instead. The solution is a temporary fix to her problem, and at least with me, I know she’ll be safe.I vow not to touch her, but she has other plans. I’ve wanted her since the moment I saw her, and marrying her only makes that worse. Not to mention she’s hell-bent on seducing me to ensure she loses all value to her family. But that’s the thing she doesn’t realize. She’s the most valuable thing on the planet to me. And the more time we spend together, the harder I fall for the sweet princess who should absolutely stay away from a monster like me. Since the beginning of this series, I have been anxiously waiting for Gareth’s story and I was not disappointed! “Gareth” is a steamy, swoony and heartfelt marriage of convenience romance that has been slowly simmering in the background of the series and is finally at the front burner.

Gareth is the owner of the NFL team, the Charleston Cougars, and is also one of the billionaires that plays in the monthly poker games. His family also has a mafia connection which he has left behind. And at each of the poker games, he’s been intrigued and watching over Serenity O’Brien. Serenity has been living under her Father’s thumb and when she overhears that he’s going to sell her to strengthen a Mafia connection, she turns to Gareth to help her. Gareth can’t resist her pleas and agrees to marry her and offer his protection. He vows never to touch her but Serenity wants more from him than just a marriage of convenience.

During the first four books of the series, you could feel the connection that Gareth had to Serenity while she was in the background and doing what her father commanded her to do. He was protective of her then and that remained his focus throughout their story. He was never overbearing, he wanted her to live her life and thrive. I loved that Gareth was an ex Mafia prince and knew how to handle the world he was in. He was caring, gentle and exactly what she needed. Serenity is so kind, genuine and someone I liked from the beginning. I loved her finding her strength through her gaining her independence and having Gareth in her corner. I loved the slow burn of their romance and then how it sizzled and exploded into an amazing chemistry. The last couple chapters had some action to it and I loved how their story ended. It was perfect for them and I can’t wait to re-read this story again.

“You’re worth more than any alliance, any monetary value, any favor, or any deal. You have no idea the power you hold, Serenity.”
Gareth is the final one to find his match from the Billionaire’s game. With such a seedy past he never expected to have the traditional marriage life, but when his rival’s daughter goes to him for help it all changes. Serenity is the daughter of a mobster, her life has been planned without her consent but she has finally decided to fight back.
“But if you want to stay with me, then stay with me. Just know that you’ll never be rid of me if you make that choice. You’ve owned me for far longer than you know. If you choose me, I’m yours.”

Since the beginning of the Billionaire’s game, Gareth and Serenity have had some sort of connection. Gareth was always quick to speak up against her father. He knew the life she was being raised in and didn’t want it for her. I loved seeing them navigate their new normal. Serenity was able to become a confident person who didn’t ask permission and that was all because of Gareth.

I’m excited to see what Samantha Whiskey has up next!

This was my favourite of this series and very much a classic Samatha Whiskey book which I really enjoyed. I’ve kept hoping Gareth would be next and he was definitely worth the wait! There has been something between him and Serenity ever since their first meeting and he doesn’t hesitate to help her when she comes to him. I loved his protectiveness and the chemistry between them right from the start.
Serenity has had a horrific upbringing and seeing her growth along with the development of her and Gareth’s relationship was a highlight of this story for me.

Thank you Samantha for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Everyone should know that Lake Tahoe is in Nevada. The phone call between my bestie and I about this scene was about time wasted and carbon emissions was a classic.

This was a good ending to this series. Samantha had a way of building friction throughout a series between two characters that provides an explosive connection once they come together.

I am now begging for her to write The Demon Kings story. IYKYK

Brilliant final book in this series, billionaires with a wealth of knowledge and experience, especially when it comes to playing in high stakes poker games and finding the perfect woman.

Serenity and Gareth have been eyeing each other through this whole series, it’s been nothing short of sizzling.
Finally they get their act together, I’ll leave you to read it yourself and see the results.
Loved it .

I've been waiting for Gareth's book since the first book in the series and it did not disappoint.

Gareth is so damn gone over Serenity and will do anything to protect her, even from himself. He was so gentle and careful with her. Always wanting her to know that just because she was forced to marry him in order to avoid an arranged marriage, she still had options and free will.

I loved seeing Serenity come out of her shell, grow into herself and seduce Gareth.

Great book to close out the series.

LOVED! I don’t know which story i liked more this one or Ethan’s book but all the books i really loved!

These friend group sticks by each other side through thick and thin but always there for a joke and a reality check!! #goals

I was looking forward to this story from probably the 1st or 2nd book i just knew these two were going to get together and it was going to be FANTASTIC!! also love how the third act “break up” most books have didn’t really occur in this one and i LOVED it so much more than that reason alone (not every book needs a third act break up but that’s just my opinion lol)!

would highly recommend this series!!

This book was just a lazy repackaging of Whiskey's fan favorite book, Cannon. I feel like she or one of her ghostwriters tried to copy the popularity of that book by well...copying it beat for beat, changing up only the basic plot points, and hoping no one would notice. But Jesus F'in Christ, this was so obvious, and quite honestly, a fucking waste of my time with this lazy trash passing itself off as a romance book.

Not to mention that this was supposed to be a mafia romance, but Whiskey just skirted around vague and often inaccurate references to it, as just a lame way to give the MMC a dark-ish back story and create a threat for the plot. Just listen to this shit:

--> The MMC - Gareth MAXFIELD is supposed to come from a huge Chicago mob family of unspecified ethnicity. Gareth is a Welsh name, Maxfield is British, but then his brother's name is DANTE, an Italian name. Sure people can name their kids any name they want, but in ethnic mafioso families, nope.

--> And later in the book, Gareth and Serenity are in Charleston on a business trip, but then they supposedly drive an hour away to his family's home for dinner. A Chicago mob boss family that was just in Chicago…randomly in Charleston SC or did Whiskey just forget where they were? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

Seriously, GET AN EDITOR ALREADY, "Samantha Whiskey."

SPOILERS AHEAD

Let me connect all the dots for you by outlining all the similarities between Cannon and Gareth:

- Damaged dark haired, inked MMC with a dark past and a blinding amount of notches on his bedpost, who is gruff with the FMC because he views her as pure and good and doesn't want to taint her. His entire personality is "I'm your protector, but I'm not good enough for you."

- Sunshine, blonde virgin FMC who jets off to Vegas and gets fake married to the MMC so he can protect / help her.

- They meet by both FMC literally falling or getting tangled up with the MMC and then lust after each other for exactly 2 years which everyone in their friend circles notice / comment on their connection before they end up getting married.

- Lots of domestic scenes in these books where they play house with an exact copy of a sweet but meaningless scene of the FMC being too short to reach a coffee mug on a shelf, so the MMC reaches over her to get it. So weird to parrot that nothing scene.

- The FMC begs the MMC to sleep with her when they initially set boundaries of no sex.

- There's a looming threat in the background - in Cannon, it's the threat of his abusive father, and in Gareth, it's the threat of the FMC's abusive father.

- Both MMCs are super protective, but the third act culminates with the roles reversing and the FMCs end up protecting their men.

There are also complete scenes mirrored between the two books - like when:

- The FMC is embraced by the girlfriends of MMC's friends group and they ask her how the "terrifying / scary" the MMC is and the FMC responds in the same exact words.

Persephone discussing Canon with her girl group:

““Is he truly terrifying in every aspect?” Harper asked again, waggling her eyebrows. “Or is it a good sort of terror?” I shook my head. “He’s never scared me.” Another round of awws. I motioned to Langley. “I mean her’s on the other hand…” Langley rolled her eyes. “Axel is nothing but a giant teddy bear.” “Giant being the optimum word,” I teased. “Can’t argue that,” Langley said, raising her glass. “I think it’s safe to say all our men are large and terrifying in their own way,” Delaney said. “I mean, they’re like sharks on the ice for god’s sake.”

Serenity discussing Gareth with her girl group about him not being as scary as he looks and also talking about how it was 2 years of lusting after each other before their fake marriage:

“Her smile deepened. “How is it climbing that tree?” she asked, motioning across the room to where Gareth, Asher, and Weston spoke with some players. “Don't get me wrong, I love my tree.” She waved a hand to where Hendrix was waiting at the bar for more drinks. “But I'm just curious about your tree.””

… ““I’m so happy that you two were able to stop dancing around each other,” Brynn said, and Daisy nodded her agreement. “We called it two years ago.””

… ““He's not as scary as he looks,” I said, taking a sip from my drink and finally returning my attention to the girls. Daisy and Brynn begged to differ, but Savannah agreed with me. “Sometimes the scariest-looking ones are always the biggest pushovers,” Savannah said.”

- THEY EVEN SAY I LOVE YOU IN THE SAME EXACT WAY!!!!!

Persephone telling Cannon she loves him:

““I’m in love with you, Cannon.” The words burst from my lips in one big rush, my body calming at their release. I pressed my finger against his lips, urging him not to speak. “I know that breaks another one of your rules. And I know that you can’t say it back. I fully understand that. You’re not there. You may never be there. And I get that. After everything that has happened in your past… it’s hard to love people. Especially when you don’t know how long they’ll be around.” Cannon’s dark eyes widened, but he made no move to speak, so I dropped my finger.

“He swallowed hard, and I saw that internal battle raging in his eyes. His need to parrot the words back to me because that would be the solution to cause me the least harm. But I shook my head. “Don’t say it back. Please. That’s not why I told you.” I smiled at him. “You’re an incredible man. You make me so happy. And I just wanted you to know. No expectations. Just truth. Okay?””

Serenity telling Gareth she loves him:

““Can I say something,” I said quietly. “And you promise not to say anything back?” Gareth studied me for a moment, contemplating what I was asking him. I appreciated him taking the time instead of instantly answering me, knowing that the man would never make me a promise he intended to break. “I promise,” he said finally. “I’m in love with you,”

She then goes on to babble almost exactly the same thing as Persephone said to Canon, but I'll spare you more quotes.

I understand that they were trying to reproduce the magic of everything readers liked about Cannon, but JFC, merely changing minor plot points and renaming the characters, was not the fucking way to do it.

I think this is it. I'm finally done with this author.

Gareth has been part of the billionaires poker game and has seen Savannah with her shit bag father for the last three years. Her father treats her like a slave. One night she cash’s in a blank chip by coming to Gareths room and asking him to defile her so she would be worthless to whoever her father is trying to sell her to. He marries her instead.
He’s always had a thing for her anyway. Turns out they’re from rivaling mob families but gareth went legit years ago.
Things are good and Savannah is figuring out what she wants to do with her life. Gareth defiles her anyway after a month because he actually loves her. Then the poker game comes around and the guys finally get her father to lose his seat. He goes bananas. A week later he calls Savannah and says he has video that Gareth was a criminal and if she didn’t come home he would turn it over to police. So she leaves a note and goes home but she has a plan to steal her fathers external hard drive where he keeps everything. Just as she’s about to run out of the house, Gareth appears at the door with a gun to kill her father. But he does t have to because it turns out the Irish mob is after him and weren’t able to find him until gareths brother Dante told them where he was. So the Irish take care of her father and she goes home with Gareth and a year later she’s good and pregnant and HEA.

I was definitely looking forward to this last entry into the Billionaire's Game, thinking it'd have a little bit of a darker tone than the rest of the series due to the insinuations around Gareth's past. Instead, it felt like I kept getting hit in the head with just how bad he was, without anything to back it up. The tease to Serenity and Gareth's relationship throughout the rest of the series ended in a little bit of a flat resolution.

That being said, I loved watching Serenity grow from the meek mouse under her father's thumb into someone learning what she wanted to do in life and being unapologetic about her interests. I wanted to see more of the little steps she was taking to enjoy her life.

I'd still recommend the whole series, it was a fun romp of different personalities, which I always love to see as most authors fall into repeating the same characters in slightly different situations. I just wanted so much more from this installment.

I AM IN LOVE WITH GARETH! IIf you haven’t read the Billionaire’s Game series by Samantha Whiskey, you are in luck because it is now finished and the author saved the best for last. Although Gareth can be read as a standalone, I do recommend you start in order and read Asher, Crossland, Weston, and Ethan to get to know this group of friends who happen to all be the billionaire owners of professional sport teams. I couldn’t get enough of their interactions, ribbing, and support of one another, and was so caught up in their world.

This series is original and engaging as these BFFs and their significant others travel to exotic locations each month to participate in an extreme sport, and play poker with very high stakes. Very high! Think, if I were a billionaire what would I bet and not have to worry about losing? I found it fascinating and thought the author was very clever how these games were executed.

Each of our previous leading men has fallen in love in their self-named books, and I can’t even describe the anticipation I felt waiting for Gareth Maxfield. Gareth is the owner of the Charleston Cougars, the CFO of Maxfield Corp, and an ex-mafia prince. He’s left that world behind him but still carries the scars, and has been so mysterious up until now.

Samantha didn’t let me down, she blew it out of the water describing this man and breaking down his barriers, and turning this hot, lonely reluctant man, into a sensitive, supportive, protective, loving, all-alpha man.

An evil villain and mobster, Doyle O’Brien, won a seat at their monthly poker table, and he brought along his daughter, Serenity. It is there when Gareth and the gang first met her, and the suspense and longing that the author built between Gareth and Serenity gave me goosebumps.

Samantha did a beautiful job describing Serenity’s inner feelings and despair, and her hope for the future. Their character growth was perfection and I hung on every word as the author dropped breadcrumbs in each of her books.

Her father was the worst kind of man emotionally and physically abusing his wife and daughter. When our sweet Serenity called in her “favor” chip, she knew Gareth was the one man she trusted and felt safe with, and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Her father treating her like a doormat in front of Gareth did not go over well, and he bid his time before taking action. He became an instant hero, barely breaking a sweat and saving the day, not once but twice, and treated her like the total treasure that she was.

He was so protective and so sweet as they got to know each other better, and I swooned on many pages. He made her wish list come true as she wanted to try the simplest of things that she was previously denied by her controlling father such as driving a car or picking out her own clothes. Her dad was grooming her as a bargaining chip, and Gareth was always one step ahead. She came into her own and I loved how they grew closer and closer, and how he was so committed and in awe of her. He built her up and let her shine, and she gave him the peace and unconditional love that he never thought he’d have. Great series that I highly recommend.

“You’re worth more than any alliance, any monetary value, any favor, or any deal. You have no idea the power you hold, Serenity.”

Gareth (Billionaire’s Game, Book 5)
Author: Samantha Whiskey
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Serenity O’Brien was lucky enough to obtain a favor chip during one of the Billionaire’s poker nights and she is ready to cash in with the owner, Gareth Maxfield. Although dark, mysterious, and intimidating, Gareth has always had a soft spot for Serenity. So when she shows up at his hotel asking him to “devalue” her so her father can no longer sell her to an allying family, Gareth is quick to help. But he isn’t willing to take her value with any influence from her father, so a quick flight to Vegas and the two are married. This way he and his team can provide her with protection while also allowing her to gain back control of her life that has previously been stolen. What Gareth doesn’t know is that Serenity wasn’t just asking him to “devalue” her to save her life, she chose him because she wanted it to be him to do it. With promises made not to touch her, Gareth finds it seemingly more difficult to stay away when he finds out just how much Serenity wants him.

I think we were all waiting on Gareth and Serenity’s book. The tension had been building since the first time they met and it continued into their story. The angst and drama revolving around the mafia ties and rival families add a new spin from the other books in the series and I was eating it up. Even with such a dark past, Serenity has a positive attitude and willingness to experience all her newfound freedom has to offer. And Gareth is right there ready to make it all happen while still trying to give her full control of how her life turns out. He is uncharacteristically sweet to her and it had me swooning for the ex-mafia prince.

Gareth (Billionaire’s Game, Book 5)
Author: Samantha Whiskey
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Gareth Maxfield has had his eye on Serenity O’Brien since the day her dad unfortunately joined the Billionaire Poker table. As rival Mafia families, nobody understands the world these two grew up in, except for themselves. Which is why when Serenity asks for a favor - Gareth has a better idea to save her. Marrying Serenity might have not been his smartest idea; not only did it anger her Mafia boss father, but also brought her so close that he is forced to resist her temptation. Under Gareth’s protection, Serenity learns societal norms and takes back control of her own life while Gareth holds her at arm's length until he discovers her true desires.

This story was a long time coming! We have seen Gareth and Serenity dance around each other at the poker table for WAY longer than I thought they would, but now it all makes sense. Gareth’s mysterious past had me so curious about how he would be in a relationship, and the warm, kindness was a pleasant surprise (and exactly what Serenity needed). Serenity who presented as naive at first, found her strength to contest the norm and proved herself also worthy of Gareth. Taking the Billionaire series and adding in Mafia drama was new to Samantha’s books and kept me on my toes. While I am sad to see the Billionaires go, I can’t wait to see what Samantha has up her sleeve next!

Gareth and Serenity

This was my favorite book of the series. I felt like the whole series had led up to this story and it was even better than I anticipated. It was a little bit mafia, marriage of convenience, billionaire romance, with a hint of Romeo and Juliet. There was a lot of depth to Gareth and Serenity brought the best out in him.

Gareth’s idea to marry Serenity to keep her safe from her father was the catalyst to both their lives being irrevocably changed. Gareth was so patient and observant of Serenity. I loved the way he gave her power and choice when she’d never had either before. As much as Serenity wanted a physical relationship, I loved that Gareth made her wait.

Serenity had so much character growth. She started out as the timid, beat down daughter of the head of the Irish mob and with Gareth’s help, she became a strong, independent thinking woman who would do anything for the man she loved. She really flourished under Gareth’s constant praise and understanding of her past trauma.

There were several scenes I loved most. When Gareth realizes Serenity has been having nightmares and insists on her sleeping with him from that point forward. The mixology class. When Gareth introduced Serenity to his family and they immediately accepted her. And finally, when Gareth rushes to save Serenity only to find that she’s saved herself.

This was the perfect end for this series. And while I always wish the books were longer, there was nothing left unfinished. All the Billionaire found their matches and healed from their solitary lifestyle. I loved their found family and am sad to see the series end.

He is a man that wants for nothing, a man that could have any woman he wants, but he's never met one that's made him want to keep her around long enough to put a ring on her finger... that is until Serenity O’Brien shows up on his doorstep.

I have been looking forward to reading Gareth's story for some time now and I have to say his story was everything I thought it would be and so much more! He's rich, powerful, knows how to treat a lady, and definitely knows how to make them swoon and blush. When Serenity showed up on his doorstep begging for his help I just knew he would move heaven and earth to help her... he's just that kind of guy. What I didn't expect was his tender sweet side, it's not something he shows in his world. Watching him try to resist her and maintain that he was no good for her, was quite entertaining. The anticipation bout killed me!

Their story may have started out as a marriage of convenience story, but somewhere along the way it became so much more than that, it became a beautiful love story, one that definitely left its mark! I loved this one so much, definitely my favorite of the series so far!! Highly recommend you take a chance on this series, each story comes brimming with feels, steam, and characters that will steal every bit of your heart!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

💫Gareth - ARC Review💫

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (edit on Instagram : @books_and_coco)

You, guys, have no idea how excited I was for this book ! The story between Gareth and Serenity has been building up for the past four books, I was so ready for it ! So you know I jump on the occasion of having an ARC ! I am so glad I did it !

This book is officially my fav of the series and Gareth is my fav - I am not open to other opinion 😂 The character of Gareth has so much depth : an ex Mafia prince who is caring, thoughtful and a dirty alpha ? I am in ! And the growth of Serenity is just amazing ! That girl became a girl boss and finally got all she deserved ! And Gareth was there to let explore and thrive !
Their connection was there since the beginning, then you add a little of slow burn and you got a explosive chemistry !

And those last chapters ? I loved that we got a little action and not only a saving-the-lady kind of scenario. Serenity was ready to fight for their couple and she did it like a champ ! And that epilogue ?🥺

I am so sad the series is over but I can’t wait to see what’s next for @authorsamanthawhiskey

This book was an absolute inferno of passion, danger, and undeniable chemistry. From the moment Gareth and Serenity met in the 1st book of the series, you could tell the tension was both electrifying and intoxicating.

Samantha has a masterful ability to create characters that feel like old friends. Gareth, his hardened exterior masking a tender heart, His internal struggle between his protective instincts and his growing desire for Serenity is both heartbreaking and exhilarating. Serenity, with her unwavering spirit and fierce loyalty, is the perfect counterbalance to Gareth's darkness. Her courage and intelligence make her a heroine to admire.

Their connection is raw, passionate, and utterly believable. Whiskey doesn't shy away from the complexities of their relationship, exploring the depths of their feelings with a brutal honesty that is both refreshing and captivating.

Samantha’s ability to create characters and worlds that feel real is unparalleled. If you're looking for a romance that will sweep you off your feet and leave you breathless, this book is an absolute must-read.

FINALLY - the stroy of Garath and Serenty - cooked from 1rst book

"Gareth (Billionaire's Game #5)" by Samantha Whiskey is undoubtedly the best and most anticipated book in the series. The story of Serenity and Gareth is a masterclass in building romantic tension and emotional depth. From the first page, the chemistry between Serenity, a strong and independent heroine, and Gareth, the brooding billionaire, is palpable. Their relationship evolves with a captivating blend of passion and vulnerability, keeping readers on the edge of their seats.

The tension between them is electric, driven by their contrasting personalities and shared history. Whiskey’s writing shines as she delves into their complex emotions, making their journey toward love both heart-wrenching and rewarding. The book is a perfect blend of romance and drama, with well-crafted characters and a plot that keeps you hooked until the very end. Gareth’s struggle with his past and Serenity’s determination to break through his walls create a dynamic that is both relatable and compelling. This installment is a true testament to Whiskey’s ability to create a gripping and unforgettable love story.

Ten bazillion stars!!

"The newest chapter of my life had started the first time I'd attended the billionaire's game, and now, as I looked ahead to the future? I couldn't think of a better place to start the rest of my forever."

Good Lord, I have been waiting for Gareth and Serenity's book and it did NOT disappoint, y'all!!

Doyle had a hate relationship with all the guys in the "billionaire's game". He weaseled his way into the monthly game and dragged his only daughter along like a dog and treated her even worse. Little did we all know that Doyle was Irish Mob. Little did the rest of the guys know that Gareth was also, once removed, from a mob family. So, when Serenity finds out that her father is going to sell her to a seventy year old man to be further abused, she snapped. She also sought out help from Gareth, whom she had had an eye on for sometime and vise versa.

Gah!! What a fantastic book. I did not want this one to end because we all know that it ends the series. But, dang it, these two needed their HEA and Doyle needed to go down.

Gareth Gareth Gareth!!! He is everything I expected and more! I have been waiting for his and Serenity’s story and I loved it! Serenity comes to Gareth calling in a favor she won in a poker game. After she explains why she is calling in this favor, Gareth comes up with another solution…a marriage of convenience. He plans on helping Serenity and then letting her go once the threat from her dad is over but the plan was doomed from the start. You see, Gareth and Serenity just burn for each other. That burn just grows into a five alarm fire and nothing can extinguish it. After these two stop denying the inevitable, they don’t want to extinguish the fire. The problem is that they still have to deal with Serenity’s dad who finds a way to make Serenity comply with his demands. Can Gareth intervene and save his wife? Is he willing to do what he swore never to do again? Hell yes!! That man will burn down the world for his woman.

Get this book. It’s the final installment in this series and it’s so worth it and more.

Gareth and Serenity’s story was worth the wait!

Gareth and Serenity’s story is a marriage of convenience. This story will grab a hold of your heart as she experiences life with Gareth by her side. Gareth’s family are mobsters. He got out and is legit now. He attends a poker game where anything goes with his friends, and one enemy, once a month. The enemy’s daughter is Serenity who has been verbally and physically abused her whole life by him. She’s in a bind because her father is striking a deal with an old guy for her hand in marriage because he lost his NHL team in the poker game, and it’s a money maker. She shows up at Gareth’s hotel room with a solution to her problem, after winning a blank white favor chip she won from Gareth sitting in for her father for a hand, but it’s a no go. She’s too innocent. He offers to marry her and not touch her, although that’s all he thinks about since he met her at the poker game. She always goes with her father. He’ll protect her like this. She is drawn to Gareth, too. Their story is as awesome as a book can get!

This book was fun but the relationship came just a little too easily for me. We have spent this entire book series watching Gareth and Serenity dance around their attraction to each other at all of the poker games her evil father forces her to come to. I wanted a secret romance with risk and stakes that centered around them being together at the poker games. It could have been so fun and sexy. It was still good but just not what I was expecting.

There has been something about Serenity since the moment Gareth set eyes on her. She has been forced into submission by her father and has never been treated well by men, until Gareth comes into her life. Gareth owes Serenity a favor and she decides to call it in when she overhears her father trying to sell her for an alliance. Gareth decides that the only way to protect her is to marry her.

I really like Gareth. He is so honorable and I love that he made absolutely sure that Serenity was ready to make a choice about their relationship before he moved forward with her. It was really sweet.

There wasn’t a ton of action in this book for it to be a mafia book. I think that there was just too much going on. I have been looking forward to this book for a long time and I think it just didn’t live up to my expectations.

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️.5

General Thoughts: I have read many Samantha Whiskey books. I discovered her awhile ago and have been making my way through her entire catalog ever since. I think I've read all of her contemporary books now. I always end up binging them. That was no exception here, where I read three in a row.

I enjoyed this one a lot. MMC is ex-mafia, and FMC is mafia; I wouldn't say it's a true mafia romance, but it still has some of those themes. I have been looking forward to reading this one in the series for awhile. This one was one of my favorites of the author. I loved the characters, the plot, and the writing. A fun, quick, entertaining read. I can't wait to see where Samantha goes next.

Spice Meter: ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥.5 Spicy. This one has spice throughout and is fairly detailed.

Romantic Tropes
-billionaire romance
-contemporary romance
-dual POV
-billionaire
-marriage of convenience
-found family
-sheltered virgin FMC

Whiskey Has Done It Again

I don’t know why I’m even surprised anymore. There hasn’t been a single book Samantha has done that hasn’t absolutely blown me away, and this one was no different.

Truth be told, I’ve been on pins and needles for Gareth’s story. He peaked my interest the second we met him. Not to say I didn’t adore all of the billionaires, but Gareth had this air of mystery that I was immediately drawn to.

His and Serenity’s story did not disappoint. Anyone that’s read the other novels in this series could see the instant pull between the two and that pull only became more explosive with a knock on a hotel room door. Everything about these two was compelling. From their individual stories and struggles, to the tension and whirlwind of emotions between them, Whiskey could not have put together a better story for these two. I absolutely adored every page and can’t wait to see what this brilliant author brings us next.

Serenity wins playing the favor chip

This is a must read, but, I strongly suggest reading the series from the beginning with Asher.

We all knew there was a connection between Serenity and Gareth from the other books in this series. Thanks to the billionaires monthly poker game, she was able to find a way to gain her freedom from her tyrannical, barbaric father Doyle, as well as find what true love feels like. Thanks to that blank favor chip that could be used at any time, for any reason.

I love the way Gareth showed respect for Serenity, while still making her feel loved, respected, and empowered. It felt like both of them needed each other in order to realize who they could be, given the opportunity to fully place their trust in another person.

Seeing Gareth and Serenity's story play out the way it did was a great way to end the Billionaires Game Series. I look forward to seeing what Samantha Whiskey is planning next.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on an early copy! I have been waiting and counting down the days for Gareth and Serenity’s story! Let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
Serenity of course traded in her favor chip from Gareth and got the life neither of them had ever dreamed was possible. She received freedom, the opportunity to heal from her abusive father, trust, loyalty and love from Gareth. Gareth received trust, loyalty and the opportunity to love and be loved. The way Gareth supports Serenity and gets her out of her shell is beautiful.
It took until about the 50% mark for the spice to start up, but the chemistry has always been there through the series with these two and that doesn’t disappoint. I’m sad the series is over, wish they would do a future book on the group of characters collectively so we can see how their group grows. Completely recommend!
