They say the wrath of a female scorned could rival that of the gods. But the wrath of two vengeful queens will set the realm ablaze.
First, she was the outcast captain of the fae army. Then, a rebel prisoner.
Now, the heir of the realm will come to take her rightful place on the throne—by blade, blood, and flame.
Lia, Jace, and the rest of the Velyran rebels have thwarted the attack on Ellecaster, but with Kellan still on the run, they are forced to move their army into the safety of Alaia—the hidden sanctuary beyond the mountains. To end the century-long war, and the evil queen whose power and iron fist grow each day, Lia will need to do more than just keep her wits about her. She'll need to seek out the unlikeliest, and most dangerous, of allies.
Bonds will be formed, new enemies will be made, and sacrifices are inevitable. With the fate of Velyra on the line, they will rise to see its salvation…or fall in its demise.
Emilia Jae’s stunning fantasy trilogy draws to an explosive conclusion as Elianna Valderre fights to save her throne, her people, and her realm.
Emilia is an author of dark, epic, and romantic fantasy stories, and has been in love with disassociating through fantasy realms her entire life. She was born and raised in scenic New England, and when she isn't cuddled up with a good book, or writing her own, you can find her playing with her dog, or being the chaotic human that she is with her loved ones. Emilia is a Pisces and INFJ.
“You are what I want, and I should have shown this to you on our first night here and every night since. It’s a part of me, and forever will be, just as you are,”
This was an incredible conclusion for this trilogy. It wraps up the story so perfectly and I had such a great time reading it! It has high stakes, character development, fated mates and found family amongst other great tropes.
I loved the characters even though they made a lot of questionable choices and impulsive decisions.
The way the story is told by multiple POVs is completely new to me although it didn’t bother me as I thought it would. On the contrary, we can see clearly through each character’s perspective and motives, even the villains.
The relationship between Lia and Jace grew stronger and the way they support each other was so great to read. They clearly made it clear they will always stand for each other and have each other’s back. I loved Gage and Avery’s connection as well and the way she grew so much from being a princess to fighting alongside her sister in the war, going against her mother.
We discover a lot about Veli’s past too as she was part of the coven too and why she left. Nox was definitely my favorite character though, his bound with Lia was really cute. I would’ve loved to see more of Lia’s wolf Nyra though. It’s a little sad that she was a little overlooked.
It’s bittersweet to have to say goodbye to this series for and I’m so happy and grateful that I was sent an early copy of this book!
What an action packed finale we have here from @ems.bookish.realm! She truly never fails to provide fast-paced chaos, feisty banter, and swoony spice.
As we move through the pages of the last book of the Forbidden Heir Trilogy, we come in right where we left off with our hilarious found family and vicious villains: at the edge of all hell breaking loose. Em takes us through hopes and suffering, wins and losses. We get love, banter, spice, heartache, frustration, and suspense.
Without giving away spoilers, this is the perfect end to a brutally long war that has so many hidden surprises and plot twists. We follow multiple POVs and are given not only a full spectrum of emotions and motivations, but also of the entire scheme. It was so well done.
Tropes you may find in ATOWAE are fated mates, “mine”, touch her/him and ☠️, Wyverns, witches, fae, found family, feminine rage, spice 3/5, moderate language, coming of rage, forced proximity, plot twists, and an ending for the ages.
Thank you, Em, for letting me be an arc reader for you. It’s truly been a gift.
Wow, what an ending to such a wild ride of a trilogy! This might be my favorite series this year, and that's saying a lot considering I've read over 120 books so far. But no series has kept me as captivated as this one has, from beginning to end.
The view points we got of the villains were immaculate, IMO. When I saw that there were so many POVs in this book, I was skeptical at first. Normally I'm not a fan of many POVs (usually 2 is my preferred max). But Emilia was able to find a great balance, and it gave such great insight as to what was going on in the mindset of the opposing side at just the right moments too. I appreciated seeing all the viewpoints throughout the story and I find it really added depth to characters we only previously got to know on a surface level in books 1 and 2.
The way the story ended was perfect and I was so happy with the details of how each character's arc came together in the end. It all seemed to be piecing together, but to see everything culminate at the end in an epic conclusion was the cherry on top of a fantastic trilogy.
Above all else, Emilia's writing is what made this series so phenomenal. Her ability to write such convincing and detailed battle scenes had me on the edge of my seat. The connections she created between all the characters was unmatched. The spice was *just* often enough that it wasn't too smutty, but also often enough that it's perfect for someone looking for a romantasy. The characters who don't even speak being some of the most loveable (Nox 💗). Her conversational writing style between the characters made this story very modern and accessible while also still remaining other-worldly. The twists and turns that had me clutching my Kindle and refusing to put it down until I was finished were perfection. I found myself falling in love with everything about Velyra through Emilia's writing, and the only bad thing I have to say is that I'm devastated the story is done and I have to go back to reality.
If there's any recommendation you take from me this year, it should be to read this trilogy (if you like romantasy). You won't be disappointed.
This is a beautiful book. The characters. The plot. The ending. Every single thing about it was amazing. It took me 2.5 days to read (because adulting sucks) but each night I fell asleep reading because I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. Jace and Lia forever. I love that you get everyone’s POV, the good guys and the bad guys. It makes hating the bad guys even easier when you’re inside their head.
There’s a light about of spice in this one, honestly the perfect amount for the story. Lia is such a strong FMC and Jace supports and listens to her. There is no miscommunication trope in this book 😍!! Make sure you have tissues ready because there are some emotional scenes!
This series is a top read for me and I will be screaming at everyone to read it. Also, Emilia Jae, Gage and Avery are adorable, please write a book about them!!
Tropes: 🔥 revenge/feminine rage 🖤 wyvern 🔥 fated mates 🖤 enemies to lovers 🔥 found family 🖤 so many good ones in the last book but I don’t want to spoil anything!
This book is for fans of Who's Afraid of Little Old Me, Long Live, and Vigilante Shit by Taylor Swift.
Lia would make Aelin proud.
This book was a perfect ending to this trilogy. The character growth, the journey they all went on, the determination and grit was just fantastic to watch. It's hard to say much without giving things away but I will say this: Nox is the perfect wyvern and I was impressed the most with Avery.
Emilia is a powerhouse. For this to be her first series is an incredible feat. She has made a name for herself in the fantasy genre and I can't wait to see what she does from here. Instant buy author for life.
We pick up right where book 2 leaves us and are thrown right back into action. Lia finally gets her revenge on the people who have done her wrong. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I read this book and I loved every second of it. The banter was so good! I adore Gage and how funny he is, I laughed out loud a few times. I was also a sobbing mess because oof. Things got EMOTIONAL but in the best way. And can we talk about Jace for a second? This is a swoon worthy man if there ever was one. The way I squealed like a little girl and kicked my feet every time her said “my Lia.” Truly ✨chefs kiss✨I’m so sad this was the last book of the series but what a fantastic way to end it!
“I will never leave you. I will follow you to the edge of this world and beyond, no matter what you say or do. I’m not letting you go. I won’t. So, please, never ask that of me. You know how much I despise disappointing you.”
You, my Lia, are the crown, and I will gladly be your sword.”
One of the best endings to a trilogy I’ve ever read.
I can’t even believe this is the first of Emilia Jae’s stories because everything wrapped up so perfectly you’d assume this is like the 10th series she wrote.
This book was very diligently paced. It’s broken up into 3 parts. I’d say 1-2 are slower but not in a bad way. Necessary groundwork for part 3 to be the emotionally stressful rollercoaster that it was.
The character development in this series is top knotch. Following Lia’s story is just incredible. The growth she experiences from book 1 to 3 is masterful. And she never ends up perfect. Always flawed, always acknowledging she needs help. And she’s chaotic, st@bby, sarcastic, stubborn, impulsive, and humble. She is truly everything you’d want in a genuine FMC.
Our MMC is a MASTER at communication. From the get go and I love him. He is supportive, possessive, also st@bby, loving, a cinnamon roll but could and absolutely would k1ll you.
The supporting characters. FREAKING YES. I LOVE THEM ALL. One of the most amazing things about this trilogy is the full cast of characters you get. You even get the villains POVs. One of the villains I almost started to feel bad for. Then I didn’t. 😂 The secondary characters are so three dimensional and also experience amazing growth and are so vital to the story.
While there’s only so much you can do in the fantasy genre before it feels repetitive, I can say as an avid fantasy/romantasy reader, Emilia Jae did an amazing job making this storyline familiar and unique at the same time. Always wanting to know what was going to happen next.
This was the perfect wrap up and I already miss all our rebels.
Also honorable mention to our fiery Noxy boy for best the best wyvern and cutest boy in existence. And to the lovely, loyal, companionable Nyra for her support and kisses.
Thank you so much Emilia for the chance to be an ARC reader for an honest review! It’s been my honor 🥹🫶🏻
What an amazing end to a beautiful trilogy. I laughed, I cried, I held my breath because of the action. Everything was great. Lia and Jace have such a wonderful story and I’m so so glad to have been on the street and arc team for these books. Emilia is an amazing author who has gifted us a truly wonderful series.
Thank you, Em, for this book so I can cry in a corner about the fact that I finished it in 6 hours.
When I tell you this was a marathon read, I'm not kidding. I was IMMEDIATELY sucked in to this book. This series holds such a special place in my heart and this book was EXCEPTIONAL. The wrapping up of such an epic series and to be such an epic finale was beautifully done.
Jace and Lia having GOOD COMMUNICATION IS LITERALLY ONE OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS. Those two know how to talk and the miscommunication trope is not my fave. But they talk and plan and work as a team. Number 1 Lace shipper for life.
And Gage. Gosh his one liners were good. Everybody knows I'm a Gage girl, have been since day 1 that we got introduced to him. He was just beautiful in this book and got the ending that he deserved. Happiness. Pure happiness.
One thing I will say I'm minorly sad about was that Jace didn't get the killing blow on Kellan! I'm glad Lia got her revenge but Jace deserved to end him, especially after everything he went through. But that's okay. I was so pleased with the rest of the book that it's only a minor sad for me.
I am so sad that this series has come to an end but I am so grateful to Em for sharing her world and her characters with us

First off, thank you so so much Emilia for this ARC! you really know how to make a girl’s dreams come true🥹
this book starts off right where the last book ended, and immediately throws us into the addictive world that is Velyra🤩 i was on the edge of my seat the whole time, constantly wondering what could possibly happen next
Lia was a relatable baddie the whole time— sometimes she didn’t always think her actions through before doing something, but no matter what she fought for both her friends and family, and for a better realm for all. her relationship with Jace had me swooning the entire book💕 if you want a man obsessed with his woman, please look no further than Jace Cadoria
i think this book was the perfect end to this trilogy, because while there’s a very well deserved HEA, almost every situation was high stakes the entire time. i really didn’t know if each villain would be defeated or not, so i really enjoyed not being able to guess where the storyline was going. the character development was phenomenal, even if i wanted to strangle a certain overprotective cousin at times😆
it was also wonderful to see the writing progression throughout this trilogy! while i did rate each book 5⭐️, you can definitely see the growth in writing depth and complexity between books 1 & 3. i think Emilia certainly accomplished something amazing with this series, and i hope all of you give it a try!
A Throne of Wings and Embers releases very soon on September 5th! so please, run, don’t walk😜
It's been awhile since a book has managed to get happy and sad tears out of me, and Emilia's final book in the Forbidden Heir trilogy did just that. There are so many beautiful moments and I cannot wait for everyone to read this! I highlighted so many quotes and epic moments but I want this to be spoiler free.... however my fave was :
"No matter the outcome, I am so proud of you. Wherever this battle leads, I will never regret a single choice made since the moment I laid eyes on you. No amount of time with you will be enough, but if we meet our end in this, just know that it was the honor of my life."
💕 Beautiful romance(s) ⚔️ Epic battles and adventure 🗣️ Multiple POV's 🐉🐴🧜♀️ Fantasy beings 🌶️ Wee bit of spice 🤬 Hell hath no fury ❤️ Found family 🙌 Banter 🤯 Some seriously unpredictable plot twists! 😭 Emotional damage 💖 HEA

I cried. At different parts of this book. I wont tell you if was happy or sad tears. But yes lots of emotions and I was hooked into this story and there was so much going on. I have become very invested in alot of these characters, and really love the found family aspect of this story and all the main and supporting characters. You get to see alot of growth and resolution in the characters stories. I also love the inclusion in the characters with love between MM and FF, friendship love, familial love .. just so many great connections between the characters. Seeing the FMC coming into her own and how the story progresses was just so fun to read. Did not want the story to end but was happy with the way we got to see story endings for so many people I became attached to. Cant wait to read more from this author !!!
Favorite quote: She turned back to my mate. “And she is what exactly to you, nephew?” “Everything,” he answered without hesitation—sending shockwaves of love rippling down our bond.
This book has: Strong FMC (Stabby) Morally Gray MMC (I just love him !!!) Enemies to Lovers Touch her and die Fates Mates Found Family Hidden Identity Revenge Plot Forced Proximity Politics Magic
”Wherever this battle leads, I will never regret a single choice made since the moment I laid eyes on you. No amount of time with you will be enough, but if we meet our end in this, just know that it was the honor of my life.”
What an epic conclusion to the trilogy. It wrapped up the story so perfectly. The action was stressfully good. I also really enjoyed the multiple POVs- it was nice to see the villains thoughts and side. Which only made you hate the villains more. Emilia even made the side characters amazing.
Lia and Jace are just so amazing together and will go to the ends of the world and beyond for each other. Absolutely love them. Love that they can communicate so well!
This was truly a beautifully well done series.
”You, my Lia, are the crown, and I will gladly be your sword.”
Read if you love: 🔥- Fated mates 🔥- Wyverns 🔥- Enemies to lovers 🔥- Found family 🔥- Revenge/feminine rage 🔥- touch him/her & 💀
This is the way you end a series. The way the strings came together, the twists and turns, the romance... It was exactly what I wanted it to be.
Lia becomes who she was meant to be in this book and it was a phenomenal journey. She's strong and fierce and sassy and flawed. She loves with her whole self and will do anything for her people. She's a fantastic FMC.
Jace Cadoria is EVERYTHING. Any and all words that come out of this man's mouth are swoon worthy. I cannot get enough. He is absolutely in my top book boyfriends. Also, he smells like a tree, in case anyone was wondering.
Somehow this world just keeps getting bigger. Witches, sirens, centaurs... The worldbuilding in this book is at a whole other level from the previous two books. There is so much room for more stories. Em has mentioned prequel novellas before and this book made me want them SO much!
Speaking of witches, Veli is an absolutely phenomenal character. She was already one of my favorites in the last book, but she skyrocketed to the top in this book. She has so much depth and nuance and she put me through an emotional ringer in this. I would absolutely read an entire book about her.
And don't you worry, because those villains we love to hate? They get what's coming to them. And it is so deliciously satisfying.
What an amazing end to this trilogy!! You can really tell how much the author’s writing evolved from the first book in this final installment. Like the other books, it was addicting and impossible to put down, but there was a huge improvement in the storytelling, characters, and the way things connected together. First of all, can I just say I am an absolute SUCKER for a good final battle scene and this book DELIVERED. It had me on the edge of my seat, crying, biting my nails, and shaking. There is nothing I hate more than when a final battle scene is short and anti-climactic, and this one was everything but that. That was truly one of the best final battle scenes I’ve read in a while and really scratched that epic romantasy itch. And the romance in this series?? DELICIOUS. I wasn’t sold on it in the first book, but after this one, Lia and Jace will be living in my head rent free. The chemistry and love between them was EVERYTHING. The side characters really shine in this series in that way that only a multi POV series can accomplish. I loved all of the side characters just as much as the main characters—the found family in this was just too good. I think this final installment is what really made the series its own. It was a completely satisfying conclusion and I can’t wait to see what the author does in the future!
ARC REVIEW The third and final installment of this series is an epic conclusion of Elianna’s push to reclaim her throne and unite the realm. We jump right into the action and it is a wild ride from start to finish! Em is an author who is unafraid to constantly throw curveballs and I love her all the more for it. I could not predict how everything would play out and I enjoyed the journey, even when characters were making questionable choices. I love the dynamic between Elianna and her chosen family. There were a few side dynamics that were developed, but as the focus of the story is on Lia, I appreciated that they did not overshadow the overarching story. And then we have Lia and Jace - their love story is so beautiful. They truly get each other and I am so happy how things played out for them. Their bond only gets stronger! This is such a great series, I cannot recommend it enough!
A Throne of Wings and Embers is the third and final book in the Velyran Realm series. It picks up right where The Crown of Wyvern’s Flame leaves off. I loved all the different POVs in this book because it includes the villains. It shines a different light on the Queen as well.
Elianna is top tier FMC and her one liners in this book had me cracking up. She is the perfect character of feminine rage. Jace is also a top tier MMC- I was highlighting the heck out of some of his quotes! 😍they have such a special and amazing relationship that I’m going to be thinking about for a long time. They had some spicy moments as well and I’d give the book a 2.5/5 🌶️ rating.
The action and plot twists truly took me on a wild ride. I did have some theories in this book, and they were actually incorrect. So that definitely surprised me, in a good way of course. Emilia is very clever and had some great full circle moments to wrap up the storylines. There was one moment in particular that had me standing up and fist pumping the air. When you get to that moment, you’ll know why 😏
Overall, I’m going to be forever recommending this series to any Romantasy lover. This series played like a movie in my head and has really great imagery. The banter and amazing quotes were the cherry on the top. Definitely add this series to your TBR if you haven’t already! 💕
WHAT AN ENDING TO A REMARKABLE SERIES. Emilia has a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat, throwing your book, laughing, kicking your feet, and then screaming all within 20 pages. She is the QUEEN of writing villains and this book will make you seeeeethe with hate for our favorite villains. If you liked the first two books you are going to LOVE the non stop action in these pages. Such a satisfying end to an already amazing series. Thank you so much to the author for the arc of this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own 🫶🏼
Loved the conclusion to the series, you´ll find everything in here from action and war scenes to romance and slight spice scenes. It has tension, chemistry, angst and high stakes. The only thing I would have wished for, would have been a bit more about Avery and Gage, I feel like they were a bit brushed over.
I was hoping nox would eat someone, but KAI?! What.
Idina deserved to suffer longer than she did tbh. But I’m just glad she dead. And kellan, you beautiful fuck. Your delulu ass srsly thought you’d win. 🤡
LIA YOU BAD BITCH 💅🏻
That’s all i got for now

THIS SERIES!!! What an absolutely beautiful series filled with compelling characters, wonderful world building, and a satisfying ending. I absolutely tore through every single one of these books and now am left wondering wth am I going to read next? I fell in love with this world and these characters and know I will revisit them again and again. A strong FMC, villain POVs, hunky MMCs, found family and so much more. I received this book as an ARC, though not books 1 and 2, and I truly loved them all.
Firstly I want to thank Realm Studios and Emilia Jae for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. HOLY MOLY did this book take forever to read. I DEVOURED the first two books and read them back to back in less than 72 hours. I was so excited for this book and I just trudged through it, it did not keep me interested. I felt that at least 100 pages could've been cut and it felt like the same dialogue the same stupid decisions and the same romance scenes. The romance fell flat for me and the dialogue between them felt forced and childish, it did not feel the same as the first two books. I loved loved the first two books and I am very disappointed by this last book, it felt rushed and everything fell flat and forced. Things just happened to happen to have a happy ending and there was hardly any real loss for the main characters like there was in the first two books. I think this should've been four books instead of three, I feel like she was trying to execute a House of Dragon or Kingdom of Ash battle build up but it did not work out. I thought it was unique but this last book just did not do it for me and I am so extremely easy to please. The pacing was terrible and it did not start moving until the last 30% and the rest was just endless build up and unnecessary scenes. I felt that there was no character growth for Lia and she stayed the same reckless hot headed irrational person whereas most of the other characters had significant character growth. I did enjoy the happy ending and the battle was pretty well written as were the villains, which I feel like were Emilia's best written characters.

DNF’d halfway through, Lia went from a badass female to a lovesick idiot who couldn’t make a decision on her own. Her siblings were also incredibly annoying. No thanks.
A Throne of Wings and Embers (Book #3 of The Forbidden Heir Trilogy) was the third book I’d read from author Emilia Jae, and WOW… What an absolutely perfect conclusion to this trilogy. Emilia Jae will forever have the best dedications in a book. I also appreciated the recap in the beginning which is always beyond helpful. I truly loved this trilogy with my whole heart, and this book absolutely captured everything perfectly, between the high stakes, action scenes, emotions, character development, found family and SO much more. One of my many favorite aspects was that we’re given a multi-POV, not only from our side characters, but our villains too. This truly allowed us to get a better insight on their thoughts and actions and overall from their perspective. As much as this has been a bittersweet goodbye, I am so grateful to have been able to read this trilogy as it will forever be one of my favorites. May the court of rebels live on forever.
We dive right back into where we’d left off in the previous book, amidst another fantastically written action-packed battle. I truly appreciate the thorough details in each and every action-packed scene, while it’s not overwhelming, you’re truly able to immerse yourself into each scene. Lia is truly a queen through and through, between her actions, to her viewpoint on being honest and fair regardless of the outcome, I truly adore her. As we further into the story, of course we do spend some time in Kellan’s POV, now, I must say that although I loathe him, he really does know how to play his cards. I absolutely loved being able to further grow with our side characters/found family. I quite literally screamed a few times between some interactions that I’d been SHOCKED by (if you know, you know). Although I loved them all, I will always love how blunt Veli is, she is so unapologetically herself. As the story goes on, I probably went through a whole round of emotions between screaming, gasping, giggling (thanks for the great banter Gage) and crying. I’m so grateful to have been able to continue to grow with both my Lia and Jace. Emilia was able to execute the romance between them perfectly, while we got some amazing spice scenes, we weren’t consumed by them in every waking moment.
Overall, I truly do not think I can write enough to capture the range of emotions I’ve felt from this book and trilogy as a whole. It’s taken me a few days to just get this through, but I will forever recommend these to anyone. I am definitely hoping for some novella’s or something along the lines in the future, to see where our side characters' happy-endings go.
Thank you to the author Emilia Jae for providing me with an ARC copy of this incredible book.
Definitely recommend reading if you enjoy the following: ✨ Feminine Rage/Revenge ✨ Wyvern riding rebel Queen ✨ Multi-POV (Villains too!) ✨ Touch her/him and die ✨ Found Family ✨ Sirens/Witches/Mythical creatures
If you’ve been following this series from the start, you’re in for a satisfying conclusion. Emilia Jae wraps up her fantasy trilogy with all the elements that fans have come to love: intense action, complex characters, and great romance. The stakes are higher than ever, and Jae doesn’t hold back as she brings her story to a blazing, emotional finale.
One of the highlights of this book—and the series as a whole—continues to be the multiple POVs. I find the POVs of the villains especially interesting. Kellan’s perspective is as twisted and fascinating as ever, and while I still can’t stand him, it’s undeniably entertaining to see the world through his eyes. The Queen, who has always been a formidable force throughout, gets some surprising depth as well. Her backstory provides glimpses into her motivations, making her just a bit more sympathetic, even as she remains a powerful adversary.
Veli is a personal favorite of mine. She’s the exasperated friend who’s completely fed up with everyone’s impulsive decisions and youthful recklessness. Same, girl, same. I found myself relating to her more than any other character, and her voice adds a sharp, often humorous edge to the story. The dynamics within the rebel group are wonderful. There’s a real sense of teamwork in how they tackle each challenge, and it’s clear that each character brings their unique strengths to the table. Watching Lia, Jace, and the rebel court navigate their alliances and betrayals, and form new bonds was everything I wanted from the found family trope.
Of course, the heart of the story is the romance, and Jae does not disappoint in delivering a satisfying arc for both the main couple and the side characters. There’s a beautiful sense of growth. The chemistry between the leads is palpable, and their love story feels like a well-deserved reward after everything they’ve endured.
Overall, this is a fitting end to a series filled with action and heartache. If you’ve been invested in Lia’s journey to reclaim her throne and fight for her realm, you’ll find plenty to love in this final installment.
Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review. This review is based on a complimentary pre-released copy and it is voluntary. All opinions are my own.

A Throne of Wings and Embers is the final book in The Forbidden Heir Trilogy written by Emilia Jae. This story follows Elianna Valderre and Jace Cadoria as they prepare for war. After moving into the human sanctuary Alaia, as the rightful queen and heir of the realm, Elianna is thrust into her role of not only acting as a warrior of an army but also becoming a leader of human and Fae alike. Elianna along with her court work tirelessly to end a centuries long war and finally defeat the evil imposter queen who resides on the throne.
This book was action-packed, and it evoked every emotion from me. It made me cry, rage, gasp, smile, and laugh. I love these characters so much, and we were able to see their growth with the multiple POVs. I personally loved that we got the entire story through the usage of multiple POVs. The world building in this book and the others is insane. I feel like I can draw out a map of the realm without glancing at the map provided to us in the beginning of the book. Elianna was so frustrating and brilliant. She is strong, resilient, and beyond stubborn. I love how she was humbled and her court/family balanced her out. I love how everything came together. There were a few twists I was so shocked by. I loved the ending and finale of the book. In other books, you go from making a plan in 5 seconds straight to executing that plan and war. This book did not skip over any of it and built it up well. We got to see the planning, prioritizing your people, forging alliances, and every step before the war. My only complaint is that I wanted MORE and was not ready for it to end. If you are an adult fan of fantasy with mythical creatures, magic, humans, Fae, and deep characters, then this book/series is definitely for you. I highly recommend it!
Thank you SO much, Emilia Jae, for the masterpiece and the opportunity to read this. I was very lucky to have gotten a chance to read this book, and I look forward to following all of your future works.
I cannot speak highly enough about this series! I was hooked from the start and this has quickly become one series I will boost and get others to read!! I absolutely LOVE Lia's character. She is everything I want in my FL. She's smart, impulsive, brave, strong, empathetic, vulnerable, big hearted, passionate, fierce, bold, quick tonged, and beautiful. She makes mistakes but learns from them. She's brave but vulnerable. She loves hard and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect those she cares for and that doesn't only include her inner circle but for everyone. She's morally grey when she needs to be and that is one of my fav traits (maybe that shows what kind of person I am lol). This book has EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING. You want revenge, check. You want war, check. You want love, check. You want to jump in the book and smack people around a bit, check! You want to laugh, cry, scream - check, check check! Edge of your seat battles that leaves you wondering who will make it out alive, check! And believe me I teared up at the end. I laughed at the end. My heart was beating so hard lol! Emilia does a great job cracking your heart then putting it back together and she nailed it with this finale! She does a great job making you feel all the feels each character on the page puts out and I don't say that lightly. I mean, I even - FOR A VERY BRIEF MOMENT - felt bad for the Queen.... very brief lol. I loved the side characters and their growth throughout the whole series, it was honestly so well written that I felt complete at the end. 3 books was the perfect amount for the series but I do hope we get more. Maybe side character novella or something but I think this trilogy was amazing!
A Throne of Wings and Ember was the perfect culmination to this story, and such a fantastic read. This was such a heartfelt, emotional, action-packed and full circle finale and it definitely delivered in every single way that mattered and more. This series has truly blown me away and has skyrocketed into one of my top reads of the year.
I have had this trilogy on my TBR for a little, but as soon as I saw book 3 come out, I knew I needed to bump it up. Emilia has done such an incredible job with this series, delivering on character development and connection, witty banter, action packed chaos and drama, tension and angst, and just overall a wonderful storyline.
I absolutely loved jumping right into this story picking up where we left off with our beautiful found family on their journey to rid the throne of the evil queen. I love getting multiple POV’s so that we’re getting so much of a download of the plotting and characters and we can see the story come full circle. These characters go through some wins and losses, all while battling to maintain hope when all seems hopeless. These themes are so prevalent and it’s so impactful to the story and I absolutely loved each characters arc when it comes to this throughout the series.
Without spoilers, I will say that this series has some of my favorite battle scenes, the way they’re depicted and how intense they are. We get so many hidden surprises and plot twists that keep you in the edge of your seat till the very end.
Thank you so much to Emilia, for sharing these beautiful characters and story with us, and for allowing me to be an arc reader.
Emilia was able to wrap up this story in a way that left room for the world to grow further while still satisfyingly leaving us in a sense of peace with our found family.
A Throne of Wings and Embers picks up right where we left off in the last book, and the stakes are high and progressively getting higher as the book continues on. You will find a continuation of our tropes from throughout the trilogy such as found family and fated mates that are highlighted prevalently in the story. While I had FINALLY successfully guessed some of the reveals, there is plenty left to be had in this conclusion!
I absolutely loved the multiple POV that was used through this trilogy, being able to get into the heads of the group of the main characters (and some villains) was a great way to highlight the emotional reactions and dive deeper into your connection with them. Seeing the character development from the characters pov outside of the FMC view is such a fun touch. I also now need a story about Avery and her love interest because they are adorable. My only complaint is the lack of Nyra and Matthias being included, but I am a sucker for animal companions and I always want more time with them.
I hate saying goodbye to this trilogy and these characters, especially my baby dragon Nox! but you will be left with nothing but a satisfied feeling and a smile with this conclusion.
Thank you so much to The Realm Archives and Emilia for sending me an E-ARC of this book! I adored the read along for the first two and am so grateful to have been chosen for this opportunity. All thoughts are my own.
