'𝐇E𝐀R𝐓 𝐎F F𝐑O𝐒T A𝐍D S𝐂A𝐑S' Is the conclusion of the 'Frozen Fate' trilogy by author Pam Godwin and must be read in order.

This picks up right where the previous book left off. 📚'...F𝐫a𝐧k𝐢e a𝐧d h𝐞r s𝐧o𝐰 𝐜a𝐛i𝐧 𝐛o𝐲s n𝐨 𝐥o𝐧g𝐞r g𝐫a𝐩p𝐥e w𝐢t𝐡 𝐰o𝐥v𝐞s, 𝐛e𝐚r𝐬, s𝐭a𝐫v𝐚t𝐢o𝐧 𝐚n𝐝 𝐛l𝐢z𝐳a𝐫d𝐬. T𝐡e𝐲 𝐟a𝐜e n𝐞w f𝐞a𝐫s a𝐧d o𝐛s𝐭a𝐜l𝐞s.' This was the one book I was highly anticipating above all others, counting down the days until it landed on my ipad, patiently impatiently waiting to see what was install for our much loved survivors, especially after the way things ended in the previous book, and I might add that I even started to love Monty in this.

The Viking, The Billionaire and the Caveman

Tropes:
🍒 Band of Brothers
🍒 Billionaire
🍒 Boy Obsessed
🍒 Forbidden Love | Taboo
🍒 Forced Proximity
🍒 Found Family
🍒 Heroine in Danger
🍒 Stalker,
🍒 Touch Her And Die
🍒 Troubled Marriage
🍒 Why Choose.

An emotional slow burn romance with all the feels, once this landed on my kindle app I was all in, I devoured every single word as though my life depended on it, loving every second, minute, hours I spent with these beautifully broken characters. The angst, the drama, the bonding, the romance was all done to perfection as these characters navigated uncharted waters as they strived to find where they stood in this unknown world vastly different from the uninhabited home they escaped from.

A journey I never wanted to end, basking in the profound love these characters had for each other and the red headed queen that was the glue. There's nothing I would change about this book, the little twist thrown in had my heart soaring and jumping with joy. Loved Loved Loved this!!

I really enjoyed this series! However, this last book had a few issues that I wasn’t a fan of. At times the story took a backseat to pure smut (how much can we stuff her full), which might be a plus for some readers. I prefer book one and two, where the sex and intimacy felt integrated into the plot rather than the entire reason.

There will be spoilers, so don’t read further if you have not finished the series.

Reverse harem MMMF (no MM)
Age gap
Found family
Twists and turns
Mystery
Multi POVs
Strong & independent FMC
HEA

I’ve mentioned this before, but it felt odd that physical appearances were mentioned so many times in this book. Not just the FMC, but other men and women ogling the heroes. Enough already, we understand they’re all gorgeous.

I love that she was reconciled with her husband. I thought that was quite unique and refreshing. Something we don’t often see in the romance genre.

There is a character that makes a reappearance in this one, which was not a surprise, but how the author dealt with him was messy. I don’t understand his survival, his captivity, and how all of a sudden he didn’t want to be in a relationship with her. The author is making a spin off with his character, so we will see how he heals from his disastrous childhood.

Overall, highly recommend this series for fans of dark romance, survivalist stories, and RH.

*The artwork for each character at the beginning of their individual chapters is awesome.

Well shit. I'm dumbstruck. What a fucking RIDE!

Here I sit again, trying to decide how to review this. I want to keep it brief, because nothing I say will actually convey what I felt well reading this story. The trilogy, as a whole, is truly unlike anything I have read before. As usual, Pam Godwin stands alone in her own little corner of Dark Romance, leaving me with insufficient words to explain what I felt.

I went on such a journey with Frankie, Leo, Kodiak, Wolf, Denver, and Monty. They were each such unique characters. Both the good ones, the morally grey, and evil ones. Nothing is as simple as it seems. Though to me there are clear villains in this story. There are also events that make you question everything. Nothing is fact until the last page.

I truly had NO idea what this was all leading to. I even reread books 1 and 2 in preparation for this conclusion. I had quite a few hunches and assumptions, only for them to be all but obliterated. Except for one, haha! There was ONE, tiny little guess I had that held up the whole way through, so I'll claim that win for myself.

All this is even without diving into the romance. I had no clue how this pack of alphas was gonna figure their shit out with Frankie, but I honestly found it all so beautiful. There is SO much healing that happened/was started in this book. They are nowhere near done, but I feel like there is hope now. Love, compromise, and respect become their center. Which makes anything possible.

"Hope. Desperate, fragile hope, but hope nonetheless."

There was a LOT of darkness in this series, like all books by Pam Godwin, and the Dark Romance sub-genre in general. Our characters bleed, suffer, and go to the brink of death multiple times. Yet, that makes the morning light feel so much brighter. And it makes our characters (and me) appreciate every breath they get.

If you can handle a lot, I highly recommend this series. And then come gush with me because I am DYING to break this down and analyze everything. So I really need you to read it.

Until next time, keep the hope alive!

6 stars (for the whole series)
4.5 on the spice scale

CW: SA, PTSD, Why Choose, Kidnapping, drugging, stalking, mutilation

Whew, okay, you guys. My heart is racing. It feels like I ran a full marathon. The highly anticipated conclusion to the Frozen Fate trilogy is here, and it’s nothing like I had expected it to be. If you’re like me, you are going into this book with a shit-ton of questions after the brutal cliffhanger from Cage of Ice and Echoes. Imagine my torment as Pam would send all of the beta readers new chapters, and we would get a new cliffhanger to stew over before she sent new ones again (and if you haven't read HOSS and COIE, stop and read those, because this is NOT a standalone). I know how you feel, so I’m gonna put you out of your misery…..

A little closer…

Almost there…

……

No spoilers for you!

The future feels like a vast, dark ocean filled with unseen dangers and uncertain shores. I don’t know what lies ahead for us. The only thing I know is the pain in my chest.

I cannot say much about this book because, truly, almost anything I say here will spoil the story for you, and I refuse to do that. What I can say is that this story is a mindfuck in the best way possible. Pam challenges your beliefs about the characters in the first two books of the trilogy. Do you love them? Do you hate them? Are they villains? Who is Frankie’s stalker? Will they, or won't they?

My love for you is an obsession. Your rejection of me is a compulsion. Somewhere between obsession and compulsion is impulse.

I thought I theorized a lot after finishing Cage of Ice and Echoes, but beta-reading Heart of Frost and Scars made that look like child’s play. With the introduction of new characters from Frankie’s past, every chapter sent me spinning into a new level of twisted obsession until the story’s conclusion. There's so much more that I want to say, but I'll stop here. Heart of Frost and Scars is about the same level of darkness as Hills of Shivers and Shadows, so buckle up and get ready for an ominous, twisted ride. I don't usually like reverse-harem romances, but I LOVED this. The Frozen Fate trilogy is one of the best why-choose romances I've ever read.

Let this be a lesson to you, little girl. Never invite a monster into your heart. Because it renders you powerless.

P.S. The note at the end of the book has me screeching!

Thank you, Pam, for the opportunity to beta read this book. What an adventure!

Here is one more that I never left a review 🙄🙄🙄

I don’t want to say much about this series/book. This is best to go in blindly.
I didn’t give this one 5 ⭐️ like the first 2 because the first 50% of the book is very slow and there were some things that made me annoyed. But the slowness of the first 50% was necessary to the development of the story, it would’ve been weird if Kody and Leo was very ok after all they went through and if Frankie had no trauma at all, also if Monty was just immediately accepted. But I loved when they finally got together and as I said a million times, I am NOT a why choose type of girl, those are not my favorite books because I always end up choosing one and that’s not the point. But this is actually the first why choose where I truly was unable to choose one. I was in love with Leo and thought he was my favorite, than the next chapter Kody was my favorite to than turn the page and find that Monty was everything to me 😂 so I truly had love for all 3 of them EQUALLY!!!!! Isn’t that crazy? In the Losers duet Manson is my baby, in the Malice and Surrender duet Kay is my man. I ALWAYS pick one and I would be fine if the others were not in the picture, but this here I couldn’t pick, this is my very first why choose where I can’t really choose and love all 3 of them. Maybe I would’ve choose Wolf if he was part of this because I have a very soft spot for him, but alas here we are. Can’t wait for the spinoff book coming in July !!!!!!

2.75⭐️

God this series was just toooo long, this book was 500 pages of the men arguing over Frankie. Frankie crying about the fact that her husband won’t share her with 2 others. More arguing over Frankie. Kody and Leo punching people. Kody and Leo grunting. Constantly talking about how attractive everyone is.. And then 120 pages of plot at the end 😅

It was so repetitive but I’m glad I stuck it out for the ending, this was an interesting read. I honestly feel like Pam didn’t know whether she was writing a why choose, a love triangle, a thriller or a survival story it was a bit too much going on all at once at times and a very very dark story, and extremely taboo so know that going into it

without spoiling…

HOLY F@$&!/€ !!!!!!

I was not prepared.

At all.

For ANY OF THAT.

Pam Godwin concluded this insane series perfectly and book three was just wow. I have no words, I fear whatever I write in this review won’t even do this series justice. So anyway, the ending was crazy, unexpected, twisted beyond belief. Battles were fought, hardships were endured, but this series will never leave my memory. It was raw, heart breaking, but captivating.

If you need a DARK romance series to absolutely consume you in every way imaginable, pick this up. But PLEASE CHECK TW FIRST, it’s heavy, dark and A LOT, I don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable.

4.5 Fillet Knife Stars ⭐
Spicy Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

A Viking, A Billionaire and A Caveman walk into a bar... and no that's not a joke!!!!

This culmination of the series shows what a spectacular masterpiece this is and what a fantastic Author Pam Godwin is. I still cannot believe how intricately woven the plot was and how perfectly it was built together from the first word of book 1. The unexpected twists and turns I did not see coming, and the way the plot took my mind through a mental roller-coaster... I AM STILL REELING!

NOTE: This is the final book in the Frozen Fate series and cannot be read out of order. While I will try my very best to keep this spoiler-free, there might be spoilers for the previous books. If you don't want to see them, please stop reading. If you do it's either because you do not care about spoilers or you have already read book 1 and book 2... either way, if you spoil something for yourself - I tried to warn you...

𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨:
Frankie and her boys, Leo and Kody are finally out of the frozen wilderness and back in society. Only now they have to learn how to readjust and survive in the modern world while dealing with their trauma, a stalker and Monty who is desperate to get his wife back (into his bed and heart).

𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨:
Wow! Just bloody wow. I sat in a stupor at the end of the book coming to terms that it's over...and what a fantastic ride it was. There are many things I loved about this book but I am going to touch on a few things that were exceptional standouts...

Firstly I loved how this showed that human relationships are not always black and white. People are not always good and evil, right or wrong or defined by their choices. People and their relationships can be a convoluted mix and mashup of thoughts, past interactions, history and connections. But most importantly they can be driven by emotion, and often emotions are the biggest factor causing a war with a mind and logic. All our characters are tested to their limits, emotionally challenged and forced to find a way for all their relationships to work in this new world. A new world that might be more dangerous than the one they escaped from.

I also liked that I inadvertently read a subgenre I don't like and enjoyed it. I don't typically read thrillers. I don't like that they make my heart race, give me anxiety, turn me into a nervous wreck and freak me the fuck out because I hate the unknown... EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A MASSIVE AVERSION TO THILLERS, I still loved this. While some of it might have been due to the spicy reprieve that was sprinkled in chapters, I actually loved the thrill of the chase! The mystery to closing off Denver's final riddle and trying to figure out who the stalker was, with all the unexpected twists and surprises (THANK GOD FOR ONE OF THEM) I LOVED IT! Yes, my heart rate was averaging 120bpm but I WAS ENJOYING IT! A genre I dislike!!! LIKE WHAT??? Again applauding Pam Godwin because she made me like something I WOULD NOT TYPICALLY PICK UP MYSELF. And not only that - she's made this series one of the best series I have ever read and WILL THINK ABOUT for a long long time!

It had this amazing element that it is not only an incredibly fast burn but also has a superbly spectacular slow burn. If you're a fan of either you're going to love it because you'll have your spice fix while also having the tension, the pull and slow buildup to that ultimate payoff.

I love that it was "Pro-Therapy". Everyone has been through an ordeal, they have unresolved issues and trauma and need to talk to someone to help them recover to be able to properly function in society. I appreciated that therapy and getting help for your issues was such a positive and prominent factor in this. Its presence in the book I believe helps remove aspects of the stigma around therapy because if three alpha males can do it...anyone can!

The boys: Monty, Leo and Kody each bring their own unique elements into the relationship and it was sweet to see how Frankie is the glue that holds them all together. But the relationship that builds and forms between them is also something magical. It's like a found family in their actual family because they have one seriously messed up family- tree... The way Monty changes from who he was perceived to be in book 1 into the brother he was at the end of this was such an amazing character arc! His kindness, sincerity, generosity and patience were amazing and I couldn't believe why I hated him so much in the beginning. Frankie was a brilliant FMC, she is so strong-willed, stubborn and a born survivor. Her resilience and tenacity are so admirable and her heart is so big and so full of love...

There are a couple of things that did detract a little from the story for me... The first is there are a lot of "pissing contests", which I know is expected if you put 3 alpha males in close proximity and ask them to play nice but it started getting a little annoying. This coupled with them seeing red and going all "animalistic" every time another man so much as looked at her started feeling repetitive. The first time was fine, it was cute how possessive they all were... the second time was ok too...but then it happened again, and again, and again. I was so happy when they finally started behaving like civilised adults.

The second is the weird change of pace. Book 1 and Book 2 see a lot of action that's often situations of life and death. It moves quickly. But this...not much happens - IT TOOK A SLOW DOWN where not much was happening and I had already read 300 pages. However, there was still enough to keep me hooked.

This book is rough, some of the scenes are disgusting, deplorable and very difficult to stomach - so please if you have a sensitivity to triggers I would make sure you are comfortable reading this before diving in...

𝙏𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙨:
▶ Multi POV
▶ Reverse Harem/Why Choose
▶ Band of Brothers
▶ Marriage in Trouble
▶ Touch Her You Die
▶ Stalker
▶ A Viking, A Billionaire and A Caveman

Overall I am so sad this series is finished. I grew so attached to these characters and their harrowing story and while my heart is happy to see how it ended I am going to miss them... but hopefully not too much....iykyk!!!!

Do yourself a favour, if you like psychologically dark romance or suspenseful thriller and ALSO LOVE some spice...this book (and series) will be perfect for you!

I swear this entire series be like...

Give me Wolfson back and don't replace him with Monty!!! Please x 100 😭🙏🏼

I need the mentally ill guy who draws on himself with sharpies, dreams of going to Disneyland, can't go 5 minutes without making a messed-up joke, who was highly empathetic, wanted to experience losing his virginity badly, and most of all had a broken soul. 😭😭😭

I swear I will riot if Godwin doesn't pull some soap opera resurrection act for him.

I hate this book with all my heart not because it was truly horrible because it had the potential to be something truly amazing.

Pam tried so hard to tie the loose ends together the way she wanted to that she was completely disingenuous to the character's actual personalities. It's quite literally one of the most rushed and.....interesting endings I've had the "pleasure" of reading recently.

My one true love, Wolfson, was absolutely butchered though I loved Monty's addition to the harem, but he needed to either end up with Frankie or stay dead. It's even worse now after I've learned the fact that Pam is writing another book for Wolf with another woman.

I don't want to read about Wolf with another woman 😭😭😭. There was just something so precious about the combination of him, Leonid, and Kodiak together. Couldn't she just have added Monty to the harem and made it a 4-man harem instead of 3?

Before you're like but, Reya, Wolfson is Monty's son so that wouldn't be good, let me be the one to remind you of the fact that Leonid is Monty's nephew, Kodiak is Monty's half-brother, and Kodiak is Leonid's Uncle.

It was already messed up.

These are the reasons I will be pretending that Wolf died after he fell of the cliff so he can stay perfect in my memories.

Anyways, don't mind me crying tears of blood over the death of my favorite character, R.I.P Wolf.
(I know I'm being a tad bit dramatic, who knows maybe I'll bump this to two stars after I'm done grieving.)

"We’re a tangle of broken souls, stitched together by shared pain and longing. Longing for one another. Longing for a future full of affection."

I am forever changed after this trilogy. I don't know how to even begin to convey its greatness.

I really didn't know what to expect after the wild ride that was the first two books. Frankie, Kody, and Leo have actually survived HOSS and have made it back to civilization. Where Monty, Frankie's husband, awaits. Like, how was this going to go down?

Nothing could've prepared me for what followed!

“If you have secrets to share,” he murmurs, “the moment is now.”
“I don’t think you can handle hearing what I want.”
“Try me.”
“No.”
“A year ago today, you had no problem telling me precisely what was on your mind. You wanted rightfully so, and you refused to take no for an answer. Where is that woman now?”
“I want the impossible.”
“Nothing is impossible.”

Heart of Frost and Scars (Frozen Fate, #3) by @pamgodwinauthor has been my most anticipated read of the year since I first started this masterpiece of a trilogy back in January.

This series had me in an absolute CHOKEHOLD from start to finish! Everything about it embodied my love for dark romance.

Frankie and her cavemen are out of the arctic tundra... but that doesn't mean they're safe. A whole new set of challenges face them now. There's still the riddle that Denver left behind to haunt them along with a new slew of characters. And, oh yeah, Frankie's estranged husband Monty who spent nine months looking for his wife. Is he the enemy, or a savior?

The pacing was so perfect. Pam has outdone herself with this trilogy. She dives into every character, every emotion...

There is nothing like this series. It has been one hell of a ride, and I've enjoyed every second of it.

And, the illustrations in the paperback are beyond gorgeous. I'm in love! This is a MUST READ LIKE NOW for all dark romance lovers!

well shit….if there is one thing Pam knows how to do with her writing, it’s making you feel every possible emotion.

it was haunting, intense, feral, an absolute whirlwind.….and I was hooked. (do we need therapy? yes)
I was grasping for more every page but also anxious as hell to see what else could happen. just when you think it can’t get any more shocking.…….of course it did.
the dynamics between all of them and seeing their relationships unfold. good. fucking. lord. ❤️‍🔥🌶️

also that ending? and the way everything came together? fucking perfection. my heart is full and happy but I’m so sad it’s over.

Genre: Dark Romance
Type: Book 3 of 3 from Frozen Fate series
POV: First Person - Multiple
Rating:

Frankie Novak and the men survived the Alaskan wilderness, but nothing compared to assimilating back into the civilized world. As tension mounted, battling each other was the least of their problems when an external force was out to destroy them.

The story stirred up a myriad of emotions, especially anger towards a particular character whose emotional cruelty made me love my favorite even more. I liked the tension between the characters and how they had to learn the hard way even though at times I wanted to smack them in the head.

She would call me a caveman. But I’m more beast than man. I’m a predator. An animal. I’m hers.

While the book is on the longer side, the angst and intrigue kept me turning pages. However, a few corny scenes felt out of place given the overall tone. The sexual chemistry was palpable and I would have liked to see it pushed further. The best part of the book is towards the end with heart-thumping suspense.

Heart of Frost and Scars is a story of resilience and ingenuity. It would appeal to readers who enjoy action packed dark romantic suspense with reverse harem dynamics.

Listen book one and two, I lived for but this third book 😬😬😬

I truly struggled with this, honestly it got really weird. We all love a good trope and multiple lovers. However, I can’t math the math here. I know Frankie was small and the men were large, I get it. Except the description of her and the men gave me the ick. For gods sake some man carries her out in a duffle bag? Are we talking military issued or gym? To me this is giving little person vs four extremely large men. Frankie’s vs the men’s description made me think of a small child and that really fucked with me.

Next, the possessiveness got a little too weird between the men and “her safety”. I know she’s in danger but that was too much and I feel like she really fed into it. I hated Frankie in this, like she became completely dependent on these men and like she loved the attention. These men buckled her in like a child, was she in a car seat? Also the end, super weird. I’m down for some completely unhinged spice but I had to draw a diagram on a sheet of how these over 6ft men inserted themselves into this “Small person”. Now I am no mathematician but we’re entering attempted murder at that point. We have got 8-12 inch, thick d**cks in a tiny hundred pound woman? She is being split in half at this point, she’s going to be out here looking like “Gumby”, just split up to her stomach. Her large intestine is for sure prolapsed because good hell.

Also I think Leo and Kody don’t need Frankie, they need institutional help. The way they were acting with her was like we get it, you love her but now we’re treading a territory that isn’t right. Actually while we’re here toss her ass in there too. The way she spoke to them and the way they were to her, gave me the ick. I was getting Lord of the rings “my precious” vibe. I’m getting the “we’ve never seen the outside world” but make it tasteful. I felt this book wasn’t well sought out.

Now wolf, my dear wolf. Now if he was integrated into this book earlier, I would have been a little happier. The way he was introduced back into the end was messy to say the least. No back story just hey I was kept alive, here I am. Did I cry when he and Monty hugged ABSOLUTELY. Did I love how he was introduced, no. The whole ending got crammed together, kind of like Frankie did at the end 😉. The proposal? No, just no. I had second hand embarrassment and I wasn’t even there.

Pam is an amazing writer, she definitely has a writing style. I love her and this one book is my own personal opinion. There are women who loved this book and swear by it, however, I’m not one of them. Will I still read her books? Duhhh!! I still love her.

Absolute perfection. And a total mindfuck.

If anyone says they predicted the way this ending played out, they’re a dirty liar!!! There were so many twists and turns!!

This was the definition of a roller coaster. I couldn’t be more happy about this ending though. I was hoping and praying and BEGGING for some of this. 😭 IYKYK.

Mama Pam delivered!!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I truly think this is some of her best work. She said she was putting in 20+ hours a DAY on this baby, and it shows. I couldn’t put it down. I was so intrigued the entire time.

Pam masters suspense, dark romance, even a little taboo 😏, and some of the best spice I’ve ever read in this series!!

If you like alphaholes, these are the men for you.

I can’t wait for the rest of the dark romance world to stumble upon this series!!! It’s truly top.👏🏻notch.👏🏻 Well done Pam. You’re incredible, and forever one of my favorite authors.

❄️ “Even in the coldest places, love burns the brightest.” ❄️

The Frozen Fate trilogy comes to an unforgettable end in Heart of Frost and Scars — a raw, emotional, and pulse-racing finale that blends danger, passion, and redemption in the icy Alaskan wilderness. 🌨️🔥

This book is everything I wanted and more—passion, danger, redemption, and that haunting blend of beauty and brutality that defines the Frozen Fate trilogy.

5⭐ of pure perfection.
Pam Godwin delivers twists, heat, and heartbreak you’ll never forget.

An unforgettable conclusion that will leave you thinking about these characters long after you close the final page.

’Not all wounds bleed. Not all scars show. Some live beneath bones, cold and alone. In the chambers of frost, pain is my art.’

Goodness…. The Frozen Fate series has blown our mind with this final instalment, Heart of Frost and Scars. Pam Godwin truly left the best till last with this compelling crescendo of a finale. We were riveted, our hearts ached, and our minds were blown. What a way to tie up lose ends and restore the hearts of our precious four. And yes, we said four not three. We don’t want to spoil anything but oh how we agonised over certain feelings we had once we’d finished the second book, Cage of Ice and Echoes. Well, we now feel redeemed in our feelings and beyond impressed with how Pam Godwin developed this story, take a bow Lady because this was no mean feat.

’Let this be a lesson to you, little girl. Never invite a monster into your heart. Because it renders you powerless.’

The Frozen Fate series comprises of three very long books which we devoured, and at no point did this third book drag, rather it was fast paced and thrilling with moments of true beauty from the first till the last page. Heart of Frost and Scars is also incredibly emotional with moments of swoony heartwarming sweetness. Those moments then suddenly turn into something else entirely and knock you back with the acute madness. It certainly kept us on our toes and on tenterhooks throughout. Oh, and the heat level is an inferno.

”You are strength and courage in a world that was falling apart. You’re the fire that warmed the coldest nights and the light in the darkest times. Your beauty isn’t just in your appearance. It’s in your spirit, your resilience.”

Filled with secrets, lies and deceptions as well as twists and turns with a few *gasp out loud* moments we were completely hooked. At one point we just couldn’t catch a breath and worried for our Frankie and her men. The story was absolutely wild and intense; we felt the cold, we felt the heat and we felt the pain and turmoil. We felt everything! This series is chocka with a plethora of tropes and triggers, it’s dark, it’s violent and it’s psychologically harrowing. But overall, it’s an insanely beautifully written unconventional love story. This is a series where you feel the Authors heart pounding amidst the pages, and now we want to give Pam Godwin a hug and make her a calming cup of tea!

’In our hearts, where love is law. In the hills, where we defeated the shivers and shadows. In the bond we share, unbreakable and eternal.’

This blew my mind. I’m speechless. Pam did that damn thing and she picked amazing narrators for the audiobook.

The character development and story progression was top tier. From start to finish this trilogy was perfectly executed.

It’s dark, and twisted, with psychological torture, ruthless and cunning- I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Looking forward to the spin off!

Oh wow… what did I just read? I genuinely don’t know how to feel about this series. Was this marketed as fiction? Fantasy? Because if not, it absolutely should’ve been labeled science-fiction. Three grown, possessive, feral, god-like men — impossibly gorgeous, emotionally articulate, and sharing one woman who is repeatedly described as the most beautiful woman in the world — all while having deep conversations about their feelings? Pure sci-fi.

And the spicy scenes? Also science-fiction. Entertaining, sure, but so wildly detached from reality that I kept blinking at the page like, are we being serious right now?

My biggest frustration, though, is Wolf. The only truly satisfying part of this whole ride is knowing that he’s alive in the end — but I still feel robbed. His absence in book two and about 95% of book three made me completely mad.

Overall, the concept is bold, the vibes are intense, and I can see why it works for some readers — but for me, it leaned so far into fantasy (in every possible sense) that it lost its emotional grounding.

"Hearts of Frost and Scars" concludes Frankie's story. While the book does offer some much-needed downtime after the intensity of book 2, the newly introduced secondary villain feels bland and uninteresting, with their role coming off as rather forced, leaving a weak spot in the narrative.

This weakness is compounded by issues with Monty’s characterization. Despite the author's efforts, I never fully believed in his transition from opposing to accepting polyamory. The attempt to mirror his journey with Leonid’s acceptance fell flat, given the stark differences in their life experiences. It was also jarring to see Monty’s comments like "I'm too selfish to share you," which oversimplified the complex differences between monogamy and polyamory. It felt as though monogamy was being portrayed as inherently selfish, making Monty's eventual embrace of polyamory seem like a moral elevation, which didn’t sit well with me.

Moreover, Wolfson’s very minor role felt like an afterthought, with little of his distinct personality shining through. Similarly, Leonid and Kodiak kind of disappeared even though they had a lot going, like chasing their respective dreams. So much was summarized to us rather than shown.

Oh, and back to the villain/mystery element. Despite numerous red herrings, it was predictable and dragged out too long, making it less engaging than it could have been.

It feels so surreal to be talking about this third and final book in the one-of-a-kind Frozen Fate trilogy. These characters and this truly bonkers/dark/wonderful/epic storyline have held me in a GRIP all year! And we're finally here... at the end.

Do NOT continue reading this unless you've read the first two books in this trilogy or are okay with lots of spoilers for the previous books. It's literally impossible to discuss anything without spoiling massive cliffhangers in books 1 & 2. Consider this your warning!!

Curious about this series? Check out my reviews...

My review of Hills of Shivers and Shadows.
My review of Cage of Ice and Echoes.

Okay, the newbies gone? Let's dive in.

Heart of Frost and Scars starts exactly where the previous book left off—Frankie, our survivor and main female protagonist, has escaped the hellscape of HOSS with her lovers, Kodiak and Leo, and all three of them have been forcibly reunited with Frankie's husband, Monty, who has been on a rampage looking for his missing wife. They've been through fresh hells, all four of them, and now it's time to assess their next move(s).

Denver, Frankie's abductor and Kodiak and Leo's abuser, is dead courtesy of Frankie. But Denver's legacy lives on... At the end of book two, we discovered that there's another person out there stalking Frankie and willing to do depraved things to have her. In typical Denver fashion, this posthumous information is delivered with much drama and no answers, leaving Monty, Kodiak, Leo, and Frankie all in the lurch and afraid of an unseen target.

So naturally, they all move to Monty's heavily fortified and secured island.

Yes, you heard that right—Frankie, her two new lovers Kodiak and Leo, and Frankie's husband, Monty, all in one unhappy pile on Monty's property.

What could go wrong??

Oh, and did I mention that the Strakh men all recently discovered that they're all related?? Yes, so we've got Monty, Frankie's husband and Leo's uncle / Kodiak's half-brother. Kodiak discovers that while he's the same age as Leo, he's actually Leo's uncle as he was fathered by Rurik Strakh—Denver and Monty's father. And Denver was Leo's father. Making Monty Leo's uncle.

(And they're all in love with Frankie. And they're all traumatized beyond belief but unwilling to remove themselves from the ring of Frankie's suitors.)

Listen, I told people in my very first review of this series that this was a Credence for another, darker audience. And I meant it.

And that's it, that's the setup—the rest is what this third novel is about, and it's best to go into it blind for best effect.

My general, non-spoiler thoughts for Heart of Frost and Scars are....

1. Pam Godwin is a masterclass in angsty, real-world, painful scenarios. She takes these characters to the very brink of reality and then gives them impossible choices. As a reader who's been around the block, I find this level of adrenaline-soaked decision making to be very...fresh. We go there, folks, and we confront the worst corners with eyes wide open. It's dark, it's extremely trigger-filled—but it's raw. There's an intensity to this writing and these concepts that I appreciate.

2. That arc of incorporating Frankie's husband into this new dynamic??? So rich. Rich with tension, angst, drama, and healing. Monty's a possessive bastard who had a monogamous marriage until a shattering abduction and now... there's other men? and they're newly discovered relatives? His raw reactions to that setup were fascinating to me and, honestly, my favorite part of this particular installment.

3. This entire series hinges on secrets and surprises, with the stakes rising with each chapter. With that, I was nervous for this third book. Would the final pay-off be worth it? Would the romance(s) break apart or mesh? How could we resolve this extreme plot? Without getting into spoilers, I think it did and it didn't. Did I love reading it? Yes. Was it a great story? Yes. Did I feel... fully satisfied, fully complete with the arcs, pacing, final reveal, and time spent with the build up? ...Not completely. But similarly to the first book, I wonder if this one needs to be sat on for some time before fully actualizing into a favorite read. Don't get me wrong—I still loved it. But there were some threads, some arcs, and some pacing moments that I didn't completely love.

Truly, one of the most unique and interesting romance series currently on the market. All the kudos to Pam for making this a reality—and I am SO looking forward to more. Dun dun dun...!

Thank you to the author for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

5✨ immediately painfully addicted, same as i was with the first two books. when an entire series is all five star reads…damn.

frankie never cease’s to amaze me. i will forever love her character and never forget her. she’s self-aware in a way that is so rare and admirable. she cares so incredibly deeply for the men in her life and it shines through her eyes, through the page. even when she’s broken, nothing can truly break her. because she has them. monty. leo. kody. the strakh men. and i love how different her relationship is with each of them, how she views them differently but does love any of them any less. it’s such a beautiful relationship and their family dynamic is stunning. because it’s her. i will just always love her story. her strength. her courage. her bravery. she faces her nightmares head-on and refuses to cower and break no matter how much she wants to. she really is incredible.

oh my alaskan mountain men. my cabin boys. my savage, feral animals. i literally could not love them more.
the way leo and kody are embracing the dynamic of their relationship more in terms of sex is so beautiful. they’re growing and trusting frankie and each other and it’s a massive fucking step for them and i just loved it so much. kody pushes leo the exact amount that he knows is enough to get him to open up in certain ways. to a point that will make frankie happy and they both know it. i just low how well they know and understand each other. brother’s for life. no matter what.
things changed for these two men so fucking drastically but damn if they don’t take it in stride. there are bumps (big ones) and obstacles and so many things to overcome, but they learn and grow and adapt and they manage. leo and kody are just so fucking happy, it warms my heart. they’re finally doing the things they were meant to do, with the woman they adore, and yes there are threats and obstacles and hoops to jump through but you can feel their joy in this new life through the damn page. their gratitude and appreciation for what’s been done for them really is palpable.
monty… this man. his development was something else. going from distrusting him, questioning him, being suspicious of him, to trusting him, thanking him, being grateful for him, embracing him, loving him. the way it all happened was so beautiful. it could not have been more evident that his pain and longing and heartbreak was so real. i honestly wasn’t expecting it but absolutely loved it. and his emotions surrounding wolf were heart wrenching and so pure. the way it was so obvious how much he cared for leo and kody and wanted to help them, support them, make them happy, love them. he adored those men like they were his own. because they are. they are his brothers, his family, his. and nothing will change that. he adapted and accepted and did everything for two reasons. he loves his brothers, and he loves frankie. and in the face of fear and devastation and loss, what could matter more than that?
they worked on themselves, they worked together, they overcame. all in the name of love. of frankie.
god their love and adoration for her truly knows no bounds. unyielding. undying.

this book was a stunning wrap up and conclusion to a series i absolutely adored. it is extremely dark, and depraved, and taboo, and forbidden, and tragic. and incredibly fucking beautiful. i will never get over it, never get enough of it, never not think of it. the way seemingly loose ends from the previous books tied together and made sense and shined light on things was just an incredible show of how well thought out this plot was and makes this series that much better. i really really loved that this one had more mmc pov, including monty, than frankie. like hoss and the previous traumas were primarily painted as her story, and now, as their lives change and adjust it’s a bit more centred around the men and how they’re managing now that it’s them in a foreign, unknown place. it felt very fitting. and it allowed us to get to know monty more and see his development. i just really loved the plot and how it evolved and continued and came together. all the characters. just everything was so well done. the ridiculously, damn near illegal level of phenomenal spice. fuck it was everything i wanted for them. the moments this was giving psychological thriller were freaking me out and i loved it. this book was a rollercoaster and i felt all the emotions. i will need 3-5 business days to process & recover. pam absolutely slayed the frozen fate trilogy and i am so grateful to have gotten arcs for it. thank you so much.

“Our strengths complement one another, creating a force of solidarity. Whatever happens, we’ll face it as a team, a partnership forged in blood, survival, and unbreakable love.”

“In you, my universe lies.”

“We’re battered and scarred, but we’re here. Happy and safe. […] We’re no longer surviving. We’re living.”

“In our hearts, where love is law.
In the hills, where we defeated the shivers and shadows.
In the bond we share, unbreakable and eternal.
In the promises we made, now and forever.”

Continuing in the timeline without interruption, Frankie, Kody and Leo are in the process of readjusting after Hoss, and each have their own past to overcome. Though Monty is ever the anchor, he remains laser focused on reclaiming his marriage. Yet, with all the shifting dynamics, a new danger threatens to shatter their established bonds.

"It’s like we escaped, only we didn’t.”

Narrated in multiple POV, as the characters learn how to navigate through their trauma, it is not without incident, and this adds angst to the storyline. There were numerous times when I wanted to shake some sense into a character or two. Having chosen my favorite character from book one, I was particularly eager for a certain arc for him. With the suspense, dark past, devious motives and erotic scenes, this book is a page turner as I raced to the end for answers.

Heart of Frost and Scars is about rising above trauma and redefining conventions. This trilogy would appeal to those seeking dark romance suspense with the eroticism of a reverse harem dynamic.

This trilogy is going to stick with me forever. Haunting, heartbreaking, and incredibly beautiful, it completed the series in a phenomenal way.

I was completely unprepared for how many twists this final installment delivered — nothing felt predictable, and every turn hit hard. This book is heavy in the best and worst ways, so definitely check trigger warnings before diving in. That said, even in its darkest moments, it’s filled with so much love, tenderness, and quiet beauty that it never feels empty or hopeless.

This was a bold, emotional conclusion that honored the entire journey and its characters in a way that feels deeply earned. I’m still thinking about it — and I already can’t wait for the spin-off.

I done fucked up and finished the book in 16 hrs 😭 ummmm review to come while I get my feelings in order, ok? Ok 😭

Ok adding my review now…. That I’ve processed some

As an avid Pam Godwin reader and book collector, someone who has read her entire backlist, this trilogy? The Frozen Fate Trilogy? Her best work yet. Hands down.

This last book really brought everything together so nicely. The plot, the relationships, the secrets, the questions, THE FREAKING LAST 20%?! OMG I was not prepared for the horror that would be brought in but Pam said watch this and wow

Highly highly highly recommend this entire trilogy

while I devoured the first and second book, this one just grated on my nerves.
Dear author, there is a limit to how many times you can empathize how beautiful a character is (or characters in this case).
I swear, I ended up skimming the book, between Frankie and Leo and Kody moments.
If they weren't calling each other etheral they would be fucking.
It got boring, we get it, they have sex, a lot, those people have viagra in their bloodstream, yey.
Also, I hate Frankie.
Girl, you're a A grade bitch with superiority complex.
Monty fucked it up cause he has secrets and didn't wanted a baby? Something HE said at the beginning of your relationship and YOU agreed?
Well call me selfish.
Cause after 6 weeks where you allegedly left him he had sex?
Yes Frankie, you suffered.
It was sad, we can understand that, but it's not like you were completely a saint.
You eye fucked all four of those guys, even Denver.
Nobody admires how beautiful their kidnapper is.
And then, you learn how Monty has been searching lile crazy for you for 9 months, never dated, didn't care about his business, just finding you, and what do you do?
You fuck those two in the hospital, in his house, act like a bitch with him, but get jealous if he dares approaches another female?
GIRL!!!
I don't care if they patch things up, she's the one who should do the fucking groveling.
Will I pick the book up?
No.
There is a limit to how much I can't take a character shitty actions.
Will I recommend these books?
Hmm, not really, only because the third book is meh.
Could have the books been shorter?
Honestly, if we take all the times they spent saying how beautiful the other one is we'd end up with a duet not a trilogy.
