I came to L.A. for my fresh start…and then my past showed up. I’ve moved on. At least that’s what I’ve told myself all these years after the boy from the streets left me to pursue his dreams. I have my own dreams now. And they don’t involve a 6’4 tatted hockey star who thinks he’s god. He tells me I’m the one. That he came back for me all those years ago… That he’s never going to let me go. The question is…is Ari Lancaster going to break my heart again? Or has my Mr. Wrong been the right guy all along…

~Potential Spoilers~ ~Potential Rant~

Look, it could be me because all the other reviews were positive, but I did not enjoy this. I found the MMC, Ari, to be obnoxious and besides his obsession with the FMC, Blake, I didn't really like him. Like when they're about to have sex, the man is literally thinking about 'meat farts' in his head; safe to say I did not enjoy that scene. I also don't think the mental health issues in the book were handled well. The FMC, Blake, has an eating disorder and self harms; it's highlighted many times throughout the book, and when she and Ari go through a conflict towards the end, one day she decides she is finally going to stop being hard on herself. She has a moment of "clarity" and decides it's time to start going to therapy and get help. Then when everything is resolved and the book is coming to a close it's briefly mentioned that she is going to therapy once a week and that she has had zero issues with her mental health, she is literally just cured after therapy. Huh! Like therapy is some cure-all for mental health and issues; I may just be being sensitive but that just seems wild. It definitely rubbed me the wrong way as a girlie who has dealt with both of those issues. I honestly wanted nothing more than to DNF this book, but I have a weird compulsion to finish any book I'm more than 30 pages into. If any of this sounds like it might not be your cup of tea, save yourself the trouble and pass on this read. Or do the smart thing and give it a try but know you can always DNF a book...... Unless you're me.

When tragedy befell Layla’s parents, she was forced into a group home. The only bright spot: Ari. After just a few months in the orphanage, she was adopted by a wealthy family and was forced to leave him behind. Although physically separated, they were never far from one another’s thoughts.

Throughout the years, Ari never stopped searching for his sunshine. Spotting a billboard in Austin with her larger-than-life grown-up face a decade later, he set a plan into place to find and win her heart once and for all.

Ari’s all-consuming love and stop-at-nothing attitude is what women dream about. Despite the flashbacks being minimal, you can actually feel the longing Ari felt for Blake during their years apart and it is all-consuming and e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. Watching Blake’s self-discovery was emotional, to say the least. With an unconditional love, she was able to thrive and become the woman she was always meant to be despite years of self-loathing. The dichotomy of her strength and fragility is so realistic and reflects so many of us.

Final thoughts: I’m seeing a lot of reviews proclaiming Ari as the new reigning Red Flag Hero. I’m going to have to respectfully disagree. I FLOVE Ari and he definitely earns ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. His mental high fives and one-liners? Laugh-out-loud hilarious. The bromance between Ari and Lincoln? PRICELESS!! All that said, Lincoln firmly remains King of the 🚩 in my heart.

Oh, one last thing: Walker.

Rounded up (for now) because of the amazing duet-narrated audiobook (extra points for that). Plus. Troy Duran 🥵. That man can read me the dictionary and I’d 🫠. Great choice 😮‍💨 (and Alexis Paige is amazing too 👏🏻 made me get emotional).

I was enjoying this soooo much… and then an immature scene made me reduce the rating 😒. Sigh. I hope we don’t get the same immature scenes in the next book because I really wanna read Walker’s book.

The book opens up in Layla’s POV (10). She experiences a traumatic event that forever marks her life and her view of herself and her relationships. But she meets a green-eyed boy, Ari (older by a few years I think) who helps her and becomes her friend.

Fast forward to the present. Layla’s name was changed to Blake by her adoptive, toxic parents. She just moved to LA and her current boyfriend wants her to move in with him. But she wants to do things for herself. She’s tired of living under her parents' house and rules, especially because they’re not loving parents 😐. Ever since she’s been a kid, she’s suffered from mental health issues ☹️, many of them stemming from what she experienced as a kid. However, her current parents have exacerbated her mental health issues, and she realizes that she needs to be away from them.

When she’s at a charity event sponsored by her parents, her boyfriend Clark proposes to her 😅 and she says no 😅🫣. Little does she know that the childhood friend she had is about to reenter her life 😅.

Ari sees a billboard with Blake on it. His dream girl from his childhood has finally appeared. He tried looking for her, not realizing that her name had been changed but never found her. He gets traded for a year so that he can temporarily move to California to go after his girl 🫶.

You see; he’s been stalking and spying on her 👀. he’s not going to let distance or her current boyfriend stop him from getting the woman of his life 💅.

Let the bulldozing begin 😈

What I liked/loved: potential spoilers
—the audacity 🤣. Lordt. Give me strength 🤣. The audacity and lack of Fs Ari gives made this book OTT 🤣. Pickpocketing her phone 😅. Blocking her boyfriend’s number and social media 🤣. Hiring her roommate 👀 and others as well 🫣. Vegas trip 😈. Ari is ALLLLL about his Blake, and he’ll stop at no ends to get her 💅

—stalking/spying 👀. I mean. Duh 🤷🏻‍♀️. This guy makes social media ads look like child’s play compared to what he does 🤣

—the 🔥. Ufffff😮‍💨. Ari likes it DIIIIIRTAAAYYY. 🫠. About 1/3 of the way through is when the 🔥 magic happens 🥵. And Ari is OBSESSED with making Blake 💦. We need to keep that woman hydrated 🤣

—Ari likes to eat a hearty breakfast 😮‍💨. Blake’s a lucky girl 🫠🔥💦

—diiiiirty talk 👀. Yup. I’d expect no less Ari 💁🏻‍♀️

—obsessed with making Blake O 😮‍💨. He could teach other heroes some lessons 💅

—9 or 10 inches 😳. Umm… and a Jacob’s ladder 😳? I was praying for Blake’s v the entire book 🤣. I DO love that Ari makes sure she’s READY-ready… not just normal ready 😅. Lots of things can tear otherwise 😬. Because she needs all the help she can get 💀

—how realistic mental health is addressed 🫶. This is a hard one because mental health issues aren’t easy to address or digest, and it’s represented well in this book. As someone who’s had people in her life who continually struggle with it, I appreciated the rawness and vulnerability that comes with admitting this. It’s not easy ☹️. It was gut-wrenching going through Blake’s mental state and her insecurities because millions of people also experience the same as her ☹️. There’s no “cure” for it, or an easy “bandage” to fix people. All we can do is try to find ways of helping them cope with it all, and I love how this was portrayed 🫶

—I LOOOOOOVE how Ari makes Blake feel worthy 🫶😭. He protects her, loves her, shelters her, cuts himself for her, all to let her know she’s worth it. She’s important. She’s his soul mate ❤️🫶. He doesn’t downplay the feelings or insecurities but uses them to bolster her qualities, and this was amazing to see 🫶

—ring where? 😅. Yup. There 😳. Ari is so OTT 🤣

—becoming BFFs 🤣. Awww. Not Ari acting like he doesn’t know everything about Blake 😅. I love how Blake is “competing” against Lincoln and Monroe 🤣

—Lincoln and Monroe’s cameos 🫶. I love seeing previous couples and their HEAs❤️

—references to book 1 🤣. Tie her to the bed? 🤣 need help? lol Lincoln and Ari take it to another level

—Ari and Lincoln’s bromance 🤣. I GIGGLED sooooo many times 🤣. These two are thick as thieves 👏🏻. I looooved it ❤️ and then we get introduced to

—call me Mr. Miyagi 💀

—WALKER AKA DISNEY 🫶. Gaaahhh!! I can’t wait to read his book! I mean. He gave me Taylor Swift moves

—SHAKE IT OFF 🤣🤣🤣. 💃🏻 that’s right Walker and Ari 👏🏻 and also 👀

—MINEMINEMINE 👏🏻👀. Dual JP ness 👏🏻

—repealing OW 💅. Not Ari requesting a new coffee cup when a woman writes her number on his coffee cup 🤣 (which is why the 65% scene makes no sense 🤬)

What I didn’t love/HATED: SPOILERS AHEAD
—lack of safety talk 😐. Considering Ari has been a manwhore, I’d like to know he’s clean 😒. Annnnnnd, we don’t even really know the last time Blake was with her boyfriend 😐. I’m really more concerned about Ari though 🤷🏻‍♀️. He’s the one that’s been hooooaring around while Blake was in a committed relationship, so I’d like to know he’s clean

—THE OW SIGN SCENE AT 65% 😑🤬. Look. I knew Ari was a manhooooar. I was wary of this book because he was a very loose character in book 1, and I HATE, HAAAAAAATE when we get a book for side characters when we’ve been seeing them sowing their wild oats 😐. Up until 65%, I was pleasantly surprised that we weren’t being reminded of how “experienced” Ari was. And then the hockey game with the sign-holding ow scene came up 😐. The ow’s holding a sign where they address Lincoln as someone they’ve been with (more specifically, a sign where they announce they’ve “sucked his d”). Instead of Ari being EMBARRASSED that these women, who one has actually been with ARI not Lincoln, is at the game while the LOVE OF HIS LIFE is at home, he gets UPSET…😐
What. The. 🥴 F???? WHYYYY are you upset that this random woman gets confused??? He addresses Lincoln who giggles at the fact that maybe Ari isn’t as memorable as he thought he was, and Ari gets upset??? 🤦🏻‍♀️If anything, Ari should be ASHAMED 🤷🏻‍♀️. He’s being disrespectful to Blake by getting upset about this 🤬.
Do you think I would be happy to know that my boyfriend/hubby is upset that a girl that previously sucked his d confuses him for his best friend????!!! 🤬🤬🤬
Yeah. Nerp. I’D BE PISSSSSSSSED 😑
Blake never finds out about this since she’s not at the game. But still. What. The. Fuuuuuuu!!!!
I bet you if the tables were turned, it would NOT have been done this way 😐. But because this scene is supposed to be funny (🙄🙄🙄🙄), it’s okay?
Nah… nah, BRUH… homie don’t play that 🤬.
^^this isn’t swoony!
If anything, it reminds me of a manhooar telling his buddies who he’s been with and adding another notch to his bedpost versus the way Ari has been characterized this ENTIRE book: an OTT hero who’s all about his woman
IT. DOES. NOT. MAKE. SENSE 😒😑🙄.
And then he goes and marries her when she’s basically out of it (consistent with his character), further proving how SUPERFLUOUS this scene is 😐.

—the cheating 😬. Sigh. I actually felt bad for Clark 🫣. He’s NOT a bad guy. In fact, he actually saved Blake when she attempted suicide at 16. While I get he’s not the MMC, he’s not a terrible person 🤷🏻‍♀️. Blake doesn’t know she’s technically cheating on Clark because Ari has blocked everything and she hasn’t really been texting Clark (she’s been actually texting Ari), but still 🥴. It left a sour taste in my mouth 😒.

—f’ing in front of Clark 🥴. This was PAINFUL and gave me SECONDHAND EMBARRASSMENT!!! . Whyyy would this EVER be okay!?!?!?!? This was actually pretty f’ed up 🤷🏻‍♀️. Clark’s already lost Blake, why would it ever be okay to further rub salt into his wound by having him witness Blake and Ari have sex? 🥴Whyyyyy 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. This is actually making me wanna downgrade this again. Sigh (now, if he was a bad guy, then by all means 🤣🤣🤣. But he’s not 😬) ETA So should Blake go and do the same in front of the girls Ari's f'ed? Imagine... they'd never be able to do anything else.

—the lack of ages 😐. For a second-chance ish romance, I needed some ages somewhere. All we know is that she’s 10 in the past and Ari is slightly older than her. We don’t know how much time has elapsed since they were kids 😑. He’s in the NHL, which means he’s probably in his mid-twenties, right?

Overall, I liked/loved a lot of things, but I also found many things lacking or tacky 🥴

⚠️safety squad⚠️
-no cheating*/sharing/owd* (see line below)
-previous manwhore status: at 66%, we get a reminder of what a huge manhooooar Ari’s been, even Lincoln (H from book 1) when there’s a sign held up by two girls who are boasting about sucking Lincoln’s dick and Ari felt the need to clarify that it was HIS dick that was sucked 🙄
-mental health/anxiety/body dysmorphia
-eating disorder/bulimia
-self-harm/cutting
-parents murder/suicide
-attempted suicide recounted
-unloving parents/gaslighting
-OMD- the h has a boyfriend when the H reappears in her life. The h ends up technically cheating on the OM with the H 😬. There’s OM2 who’s also a hockey player and tries to get aggressive with the h, especially during the threesome scene she walks in on. The H takes care of him 💅 and his teeth 🤷🏻‍♀️
-biting/marking/praise kink/dual anal play/anal/spanking/cock warming/voyeurism/hand necklace
-no condoms/no safety talk 😐
-no info on the last time either of them had sex. The H is known as a manwhore in Book 1. It seems as if the h has only been with the OM/boyfriend
-HEA/epilogue/months later

i enjoyed this but i was hoping i would have enjoyed it more than i did tbh. ari & blake were SO FUN together tho. their banter>>>> so good. i loved how there was more of an emotional connection this time around than between linc & monroe, but i loved seeing their cameos and them interact w each other in this one. i was really enjoying it up until the 60% mark when the conflict started to happen, and it just went downhill. it seemed stupid imo and i just completely lost interest in the rest of the book. they didn’t seem like the two characters i met in the first half😭

ari is so funny w his friends. his behavior w linc reminds me of frankie from the basement yard in a way haha. his like need to be the number one bestie and how clingy of a friend he is. i loved it. also the taylor swift sings? YEAH!

overall, i really enjoyed this one and had such a fun time w ari & blake!!!

DNF @ 50% (I skimmed ahead to see how it ends)

What was this? What in the actual hell was this? The modern references were not cute. Ari's dialogue throughout the book was just mortifying and so not needed. And Blake was just downright annoying. I also believe that her mental health struggles were not dealt with properly at all and were just used as props to further propel Ari and Blake's relationship. The romance aspect in this whole book was just missing. There was never any proper relationship built from the beginning.

Lincoln and Ari can not and should not be placed on the same pedestal because Ari was just ridiculous.

If the author decides to shame her 1-star reviews again in her reader's group for "fun", as she likes to call it, then I'm going to be really disappointed in her level of maturity to take criticism. I witnessed it happen with her previous book, and it was horrendous to see so many people bash the reviews and the reviewers when they were just giving their honest opinions.

If ARI is not topping LINCOLN in his PSYCHOSIS then I don't want him. He has to do more crazy ass psychopath things for the girl, I want the unhinged man and I want him to cross Lincoln in this department. Com'on ARI you've gotta tough competition but don't lose your hope!!!

I’m so sad I waited for this book for so long and I hated it 😭 I could not get over Ari speaking like a teenage girl. Grown men do not act or talk like this especially “badass athletes” The whole dancing to tswift constantly, the immature dialogue in their text convos, it just made the story feel entirely juvenile and obnoxious. Blake was so unlikable I skimmed her constant panic attacks. Her eating disorder was supposed to be solved by Ari basically telling her nooo bbygorl you’re perfect like ok what?? I can’t believe this is from the same author as the first book! I loved Lincoln and his crazy ass so much. This read like a bad wattpad honestly. Had to push myself to finish it but every chapter became more and more cringe.

These crazy kids met when they were both put into a group home. Layla is more heartbroken since her father killed her mother. I wish we saw a little more of them in that home. We fast forward years later, Blake, aka Layla, is unhappy with her life but puts on a front since her adopted parents are rich abusive jackasses. And her boyfriend is sorta nice but kind of a jackass too. She turned him down and moved to La, trying to make a name for herself to be free, but in a long distance relationship, she remeets Ari, but she doesn't know it was the same kid ages ago. Their relationship is cute it's a push/pull from her because she's in a relationship, but it's wired her boyfriend doesn't text her or call her anymore 🤔 wired, huh? lol. And Ari is pulling out all the stops which boy he was just as obessed and crazy as His bff!!

My heart hurt for Blake with what she went through and how she viewed herself... so be warned if you can't deal with eating disorders and self-harm.

Also, I died between the friendship that was Ari and Lincoln 💗💗💗 there texts were magic. And the them bring in Walker!! I can't wait for his story and who his girl is.

Okay, so cheating. Since Ari changed the douches' info and blocked him, Blake didn't know he didn't get any info or texts from her. So she didn't know she was cheating. And like Ari said, it isn't cheating because douche wasn't her soulmate, lol.

Low angst, no ow/ tiny om drama, cheating (not between the mains), secondary charas, drama, sexy times, no virgins

Ari is psychotic and hilarious; you just have to love him!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💚💜💖
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😊😄🥹🙁🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Duet Narration

The heroine: Layla (a.k.a. Blake) - she lost her parents as a child and was put into a group home. She just found out she got her dream job in L.A. though she hadn’t expected to get the job, so she never told her boyfriend Clark that she applied. Layla is a model but is an introvert with social anxiety and a bunch of insecurities when it came to going out with Clark and his crowd. She stayed with him because she was afraid of being alone but had hesitated to move in with him. She loved her small apartment and her eclectic mix of things that were hers alone.

The Hero: Ari Lancaster - Star defenseman and Stanley Cup champion with the Dallas Knights, Ari Lancaster just asked to be traded to Los Angeles for a year. He wanted to get his dream girl then go back to Dallas to live his dream life. He was going after Layla, though she no longer remembered him. He never forgot her and one day in Dallas when he saw her on a billboard, he knew he had to find her and go after her.

The Story: Layla and Ari met in the group home when they were kids. He helped her and was her light in a dark world. Though after a few months she was adopted by a wealthy family and left Ari behind. Her adoptive parents were meticulous and stringent and demanded perfection which she never felt she could live up to. Any imperfection was met with disappointment which was a burden that always weighed on Layla.

I have been really liking this series so far. I read the first and third books, actually listened to and they have been fantastic. Both a bit dark yet with hilariously funny parts. I absolutely loved Ari in those two books, so I was looking forward to this one. In both the other two, the Hero’s have been so normal, but also a bit psycho with their obsessions with their girls so I couldn’t help but love them even though they did some terrible things. Ari was no different, and this story was every bit as good as the other two. I hope Camden’s book comes out on audiobook soon as I really love this series.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via duet narration and was narrated by Troy Duran and Alexis Paige. Troy always does a terrific job. He has a very deep voice, and he is great at showing emotion through his voice and doing all sorts of different voices for different characters. Alexis Paige sounds youthful, with a soft and feminine voice that I really enjoyed.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Fracking fantastic! There was just so many things I loved about this book! Childhood sweethearts and "steals her from another man" are two of my favorite tropes and they just worked so well together! Ari and Blake considered themselves soulmates when they met at an orphanage as children. Shortly after, Blake was adopted and had her named changed and ever since Ari has been looking for her. Fates were in his favor when he saw her image on a billboard and hired a PI to track her down. There is NOTHING he wouldn't do to shoot his shot with the woman of his dreams. No line he won't cross. No boyfriend he won't get rid of. No underhand trick he won't play. The ends justifies the means and Blake is his end game.

"𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯'𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥, 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬. 𝘐 𝘨𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘰, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦."

This one definitely hit me in the feels. Blake has a lot of emotional damage from the time she spend with her adoptive family and she has a really negative view of herself and her pain was difficult to read. Ari is definitely the yin to Blake's yang and the light to her sadness. Ari has this crazy golden retriever energy that will have you rolling with all the antics and word vomit that happens. He loves being the center of attention and just has that dynamic vibe that attracts everyone. Overall, the story moved quickly, was well written, and ALL the characters completely drew you in. Ari isn't *as* unhinged as Lincoln, but he's definitely been taking direction, lol. The bromance between Ari and Linc is /chefs kiss, and I love how they start pulling Walker into their "circle of trust". We can all see where this is heading and I'm totally here for it and can't wait!!

MCs:
- Ari
- Blake

Book info:
- Sports romance
- Stalking
- OTT obsessed/possessive MMC
- Parents' death
- Eating disorder
- Body dysmorphia
- Panic attack
- Manipulation
- Self harm
- Cheating (not between MCs)
- Second chance-ish
- OMD (she's in a relationship until 35%)
- HEA

Notes:
- Second chance-ish, they met in an orphanage she was 10 and he was 12. She was there for eight months until she got adopted. But Ari knew back then that she's the one for him. So when he finally got the resources to find her, he started looking for her, until he saw her in an advertisement. That's when he decided to trade for LA's hockey team for a year to get his girl.

This was surprisingly good and I didn't expect to enjoy and love it so much. Ari was painted to be a skeevy manhoe in book 1, but in this book there's no disgusting reminders of his reputation, which I'm truly thankful for. No comparison of Blake from other women and no recalling of his previous life before he found her. If readers would skip the first book and read this first instead, they wouldn't even know that Ari had that sort of reputation. If the author purposely avoided putting those reminders so that readers would see and love Ari as the golden retriever obsessed homeboy, then she definitely succeeded. 😄

Ari is... something. I loved him (most of the time) but he also annoyed the crap out of me. His antics had me laughing out loud and his bromance with Lincoln had me giggling like a freaking lunatic. I loved these two psychos, no wonder they're best friends. His OTT unhinged times made me swoon and afraid for Blake, but compared to Linc he's more subdued. The stalking and manipulations are ridiculously absurd, but I know he's doing it only because he's so down baaaad for her. But despite these questionable things, what I appreciate the most about Ari is how he helped Blake see her worth, how protective, supportive, caring, and loving he is all throughout their book. He never gave up and that's the kind of MMC I want in my book, someone who will do everything to get his girl and won't let anyone or anything stop him from doing so.

Blake's character broke my heart. She may be adopted when she was young but she never had it easy. Her adoptive parents did a number on her and they ruined her self-esteem and confidence. It was hard to read her inner thoughts and I really want to get inside the book to hug her or give her some comfort during these hard times. But I'm glad that at the end she decide to seek therapy and work on herself. I loved her but I didn't like the fact that she cheated on her boyfriend. I know the attraction was palpable and the pull is inexplicable buuuut she should've think better than do the nasty with Ari while she's still involved with someone. She hated her mom for ruining them because of her cheating yet she did the same with Clark, and this just doesn't sit well with me. Also, that scene where she showed to Clark that Ari's it for her was just cruel, imo. I don't think that scene is needed to convey her message. Anyway, though she did some awful things I still am proud of her for getting herself better.

Moving on, the third act breakup is a twist I didn't see coming, he's conniving SOB 🤣 I really thought he's going to let her go, but of course, I forgot that he's Ari the obsessed and great manipulator. And reading his POV about what really happened had me cracking up. Until the end the manipulations never stopped and I'm here for all of it. 😂

Overall, this would've been a 5 ⭐ had it not been for the cheating. Sure it wasn't between the MCs, but any form of cheating will never be okay with me and it always leaves a bad taste and a whole lot of negative feelings. I hoped Clark would find someone worthy of his love, he seems like a good guy, not just for Blake.

Anywaaaaay, I'm excited for Walker's book. I think this will be fun too. Him finding the love of his life and trying to knock her up, and the poor girl doesn't know what hit her. 🤣

I really loved book 1 with monroe and Lincoln. I gave it a five. Ill give this a 1.5 stars

This book would've been a dnf for me if it weren't for his ott JP tendencies and manipulations. And the texts from Lincoln and ari. but jaysus, the flowery, overdone wording was so cringy. The depth of his eyes! The tumultuous glares and gushing soaked panties. 😬😬😬😐 and then aris thinking about how he doesn't want to eat too many tacos because then he would have meat farts.

But aris character was so.....strange? Hes supposed to be a golden retriever type But he does things that seem....out not character? Maybe Lincolns giving him all these ideas but I dunno....doesn't seem like his wheelhouse. And the h is supposedly beautiful since she does modeling gigs but she really had no character. She's not funny or cute.....shes just there. 🤷 they met when he was....12? And she was 8 in an orphanage and he's loved her ever since? And then he sees her on a billboard and tracks her down as an adult.

The whole thing with the ex boyfriend was weird......she says no to his proposal at a gala thing but she's didn't break it off with him.....biatch, what are you staying with him for if you don't Even love him enough to marry him and be with him for the rest of your life? You don't even break up with him before moving on and you sleep with ari knowing that 😐 I hate when girls do this in romance books. Like in Wring by Jana Aston. You might not like your bf but break up with them first before you fuck another man okur? I hate that shit.I know ari prevents her from texting or calling but still. And then that scene where he's watching her and ari fuck and she's hamming it up even more because she wants the ex to know she's with ari? That was so weird.

Then that third act break up. She mad and cry cry because he dis whatever he could to make sure she was his in all ways. She was mad and didn't talk to him for 21 days but still WA Ted to sleep in his arms at night 😬 then ari leaves and gives her the divorce she thinks she wants and then she's like oh wait, I guess I do want to be with him. Dafuqeroo be this shit. Ugh. UGH. That is some trifling bull shit smelling shit!!!

Anyway, the hype was jack shit. You might like this bookif you like over the top descriptions of how soaked a someone's cum desires are but it made me cringe mucho.

Talks about Taylor swift songs a lot too.

I wish I dnfed.

This book is getting five stars based on vibes alone because if you wanna have a fucking blast reading a book, this is the series to do so.

I loved Ari in the first book. He was the perfect goofball and comedic relief so I was super excited to get into his book and he did not disappoint. Although he was not as unhinged as Lincoln, he still crossed a bunch of lines to make sure Blake was his.

I loved how this was kind of a childhood friends to lovers moment and his obsession was brewing since he was a kid , I mean, come on the man moves across the country and leaves his dream hockey team to get his girl.

The way that him and Lincoln were egging on their unhingedness just sending each other “……” had me fucking rolling lmao what a supportive friendship. The amount of times Lincoln offered him handcuffs was cracking me up.

Blake’s insecurities hit a little home, fuck I felt for that girl and my heart broke for her. It’s the worst feeling in the world feeling like you’re not good enough, but to give her someone as obsessed as Ari was her perfect happy ending and I fucking loved that for her.

“hurt me instead” 😭😭😭😭😭😭

If you wanna have a silly little good time with some fine ass tattooed pierced 🍆 hockey players who are beyond obsessed with their women and would do anything ( including stalking and tampering with their lives) to keep them than you will EAT this series up!!

OH AND THE SPICE🥵🥵🥵🥵

Dnf @ 22%.

It is so juvenile and not much makes sense starting with whytf wouldn’t Ari tell her who he is upfront? Also I get he’s a “golden retriever” mmc but this ain’t it. He’s teasing, pranking, saying BFF more than I ever have in my entire life, and sounds more like a 12 year old than a 20-something. Blake is going through shit so her chapters feel so much different from Ari. She’s got depth, but then she goes and waxes on about Ari’s looks internally for 2 pages forgetting she’s supposed to be talking. Like damn girl, enough.

I’m sooooo bummed! I loved Lincoln’s book and I was looking forward to a peppy, happy mmc with stalking tendencies, but this went overboard on the mania.

Didn't like this as much as I liked book one.. which is fine, I guess .. I can see how this will resonate with some readers, and even though I like what the author did with it and the importance of such heroine, I still do not like it.. but it is just me.. so do not worry...
if you like your heroes possessive borderline crazy and madly obsessive check this series... I can't wait to read the next book. I have a feeling I will love it...

I was not a fan of Blake’s roommate to start with so that wasn’t a disappointment when she betrayed her- I’m really excited that Walker will be in the next book, I liked him a lot in this one! Sometimes, we just need our own space and don’t need others to help us, which this book really shows. To me, it’s not just a dark romance but also addresses real-life issues.

Why I was obsessed: The FMC struggles with self-harm, self-hate, eating disorders, anxiety, all the stuff so many females and juts people in general go through. The MMC makes her feel beautiful and loved. And that by itself was so beautiful. He constantly supported her, loved her, let her see herself the way he did (perfect), got her to eat again, took away her pain, and so much. The MMC actions get questionable on occasion but it’s the sweetest thing how he treats her. Also, he loves Taylor Swift. Literally perfect.

3.5 ⭐️😫

Ok, so overall, I liked this book.
I liked the FMC more. Wanted to hug her a few times 🥹🥹🥹.

Some things did annoy me
1 - Ari was sometimes too cocky *rolling eyes*, but in a cringe way
2 - Everything solved too easily, like one moment he decided that the solution to stop the FMC's boyfriend is to plant some c*ke in his car and bam *fingers snapped* the plan was solved just like that; pleeeease! 😑
3 - his entire plan with the "divorce"; I get OTT, and I liked Linc for example and he has done some despicable things, but it was for the good of his girl; while Ari, agh, Ari Ari Ari, why not try having a healthy relationship with her?? Because she would have done everything he wanted and desired, eventually.

This being said, I just can't wait for the next book!!! 👀🔥❤️

UPDATED. God, I love this book soooooo much! I honestly didn't think it was possible for this to be better than Book 1 -but it surpassed ALL my expectations. Ari is a God and he's the funniest there is. Plus - the sex is SO much better in this one!!! Sorry this is so long.

"Sunshine. I fucking love you. I’m obsessed with you. You’re all I see. You’re my past, my future…you’re everything..... In every circumstance, in every life…I would have found you.."

Ari Lancaster (24-ish, funny, adorable, sexy hockey God) requested a transfer to a team in California after realizing that's where his long-lost soulmate, who he met in foster care, is living. He'd tried to find her after she was adopted but never had any luck. Now that he's found her, he won't let ANYTHING or anyone stand in the way of his destiny.

"I made you a promise once, that I would spend the rest of my life making you happy. …it will still be my honor to ensure all your dreams come true."

Blake Shepfield (21-ish, formerly Layla, model, waitress) did not get the dream life that her adoptive parents promised. Blake decided to defy them and took off to California to pursue a modeling career. She has no idea that her past is about to blow in like a hurricane.

"Your pain is not a baggage to endure, baby. It’s an honor for me to help you shoulder it. Give it to me. Tell me where it hurts. Let me take it away."

Sadly, their road to happiness hits a few speed bumps, including her ex-ish who keeps showing up. We know Ari won’t risk losing Blake now that he has her again, but what happens when she learns just how deep Ari's obsession goes?

Obsession didn't even begin to cover what I felt. It was more than that; it was an insatiable craving, a need that clawed at me from the inside....it was like a drug, an addiction I couldn't shake.

Purple & gold, shake it off, Batman, seriously hot sex, butterflies & piercings, Elvis, lots of hot sex, Disney, grandma airlines, and eventually - Ari and Blake return HOME and get their HEA.

"Mrs. Lancaster is my baby angel face. Do Not Touch."

Seriously – I can't tell you how much I loved this book. I laughed so freaking hard. There was a time when I burst into tears and my mom looked at me like I'd lost my mind. I will literally fight you for not loving this book.

SEX: Off. The. Charts. Loved it - even more because I love Ari so much. Big bang at 33% had me seeing stars and YAY, no condoms. Swooning because Ari is such a dirty talker!! That boy's mouth!!! YUMMY! There's not only more sex than Book 1, but it's also steamier! All of the sex was freaking delicious! Plus, Ari has a lot of piercings!! Win/win for all involved.

BROMANCE: I thought the bromance between Lincoln and Ari was awesome... but the bromance between Ari + Lincoln + Disney = PHENOMENAL. I literally am LIVING for it. You will love Disney and his book is next.

UNHINGED: I don't think he does anything crazier than what Lincoln did, but some folks have a problem with it. So why are you reading a romance with a morally gray MMC?

CHEATING: There is NO cheating of any kind, but I kind of get why some people think that, but use your freaking head. This is a spoiler... sorta.

IGNORE: There is a moment in here that I’m just going to assume CR Jane wrote while she was having a stroke because it’s AWFUL and we hate it. Chapter 19, Ari is playing in Dallas, at approximately the 65% mark, when the sentence “Lincoln #13 WE SUCKED YOUR DICK IN COLLEGE” starts, you need to skip the next 2 pages. CR Jane has Ari and Lincoln get into a fight because Ari swears they sucked him off, not Lincoln. WE DO NOT WANT OUR MAN EVEN THINKING ABOUT OTHER WOMEN. Why would he care? Like I said, CRJ had a stroke, so just pretend it didn’t happen.

THIRD ACT: Of course Blake finds out everything that Ari did, and it's pretty bad. She freezes him out and it was really freaking sad. Just be warned on that part. It's such a contrast to the nonstop laughs at the beginning.

AUDIO: I read this the first time and then bought it when I found out it was a duet and sex god Troy Duran narrates. It's totally worth the purchase. Alexis Paige narrates for Blake and her voice is good. I actually recommend reading along as you listen.

TRIGGERS: As with all CR Jane’s FMCs, poor little Blake has several issues, and honestly they got pretty depressing towards the end. I'm putting the triggers under spoilers because they might be.

CLARK: I was really sad for Clark in the end. I felt like I'd like to see where his life goes. The last scene with him actually made me sad and I was a little mad at Blake for that. He didn’t deserve to be treated like that, even though she never loved him.

SIDE NOTE: Was it just me or did it seem like Ari had a long-lost daddy that was stalking him?? If he does, then it went no further than in this book.

One of the best books I've read/listened to and I will fight you if you don't agree. You really can't go wrong with this one.

Ari freaking Lancaster... 🫠 I absolutely loved the fact that he had had such sweet golden retriever energy but also was a total psycho. I COULDN'T GET ENOUGH.

I am all in for an OTT/super possessive anti-hero in a story and was definitely not disappointed with Ari. I was totally dying every time he texted with Lincoln (from The Wrong Pucking Number). Those two together are absolutely ridiculous and helped to lighten the darker parts of the story.

I loved Blake's journey through the story, and it was super fulfilling to watch her grow. There were times I wanted to cry with her and give her a huge hug.

This book seriously had everything I look for... some morally grey and questionable things, totally laugh out loud moments, emotional backstory, and a lot of unexpected sweetness for all the red flags the MMC had. Definitely check the triggers in the one before reading!

A HUGE thank you to CR Jane for sending an advanced copy of this book to read. I was planning on reading this one on release day so I am so grateful to be able to read a little early.

Shockingly I finished it. It was just as bad as I expected considering I wanted to DNF at 20%. There are not enough eye rolls in the world for how bad I found this book.

I could go on and on about the cringe worthy quotes and phrases in this book but I would be here for a very long time. But here are some noteworthy ones

- [ ] He says BFF wayyyy too much
- [ ] He referred to a grown woman as “a-dor-able” 🤢
- [ ] The slang used in this book reminds me of the TikTok’s where parents are trying to talk like their teenagers and the kids just cringe the whole time. I feel their pain.
- [ ] Grape Gatorade being the superior flavor 🤢
- [ ] Meat farts
- [ ] Naming his 🍆 Maximus 5000 🙄
- [ ] The over use of the word simp
