"Special Delivery" As a gay man living alone, Tom's monotonous day takes an unexpected turn when straight delivery driver Matt arrives at his door. Matt is grappling with the meaning of life, while Tom finds himself grappling with the meaning of Matt. "Special Delivery," a debut novel by Arnold Miles, explores the challenges and joys of exploring friendship, intimacy, and sexuality.
Special Delivery is the story of Tom and how fate brings Matt, a delivery man, to his door. The events of the story take place during the culminating phase of COVID. When Tom is working from home, he is approached by a delivery person who asks him if he would be willing to accept a package on behalf of one of his neighbors. Matt, the delivery man, asks Tom in a courteous manner if he would be able to use the restroom. A spark ignites between the two, and they eventually become friends.
The friendship quickly evolves into something more significant as time goes on. The only thing that stands in the way of a gay man like Tom is the fact that Matt considers himself to be a straight guy, or at least this is what he is aware of about himself. The only way to find out how Matt will react to Tom’s feelings is to read the book. Otherwise, you will not know.
The story is narrated from Tom’s perspective, and through his narration, we learn about his lifestyle and hookups. In the beginning, it is heavy on the erotica side, but as the story progresses, it becomes more about the characters’ sexuality and the things that are important to the heart.
In addition to the excellent writing of the steamy scenes, the author handled the two main characters well. The book is more about self-discovery, understanding one’s own sexuality, and overall sex positivity.
There were times when I felt the narration becoming somewhat repetitive, and this affected the story’s overall pace. Even though the main characters have a great deal of chemistry with one another, I believe that there ought to be some events that generate tension in stories like these, which involve not only sexual encounters but also romantic relationships.
It is possible that the author wanted to keep things straightforward and emphasize the characters’ sexuality. I think the only story tension that the two characters were about to face was when another woman was involved, and that tension was resolved in a relatively short time.
Overall, Special Delivery is fun-to-read MM erotica with lots of heart and emotion. I’d say it was a fascinating journey of sexual and self-discovery.
Thanks to Hidden Gems Books and the author for the ARC of this story.
EDIT: Massive shout out to the sex positivity and lack of shame in this book. Even with a formally straight character coming to understand his own queerness, there was no dwelling on the negative and shame. I know all stories can't be like this but it is reflective of my life currently and what I enjoy reading.
Holy fuck this was hot - I pretty much read it in one sitting!
I'm pretty new to reading smut, so I'm still working out what works for me. I'm also not a big romance reader and I sometimes find when the book falls too on the romance side of smut, I get bored and think 'gimme more suckin'n'fuckin'!
Special delivery gave me all the suckin'n'fuckin'! It worked for me because it was pow orgy, pow hook-up, pow meaningful fuck - all without feeling too gratuitus (it actually reminded me of SMALL moments in my life).
I never found myself getting bored or wanting more plot.
That being said I was fully invested in Tom and Matt's relationship and the story surrounding them both.
I have no criticisms for Special Delivery (which is weird for me) and am looking forward to reading more from Arnold Miles in the future.
This may as well be the hottest book I have ever listen to! The audiobook is just little shorter than 5 hours and it is a bomb 💣 I listened to it in one sitting, I really couldn’t stop 🙈
Don’t let you be fooled by the cover, this is not a depressive romance, this is a gentle, hot and absolutely addictive story.
Tom works from home and he is the one who picks up all the packages for his building, and when Matt, the new hot delivery guy asks him if he could use the toilet a new friendship starts.
❤️🔥
This is a book about sex, sexuality, boundaries, exploring, but also about grief, friendship and ultimately love!
For any smutty mm romance fan, run to read it!
Thank you for the ALC VictoryEditing NetGalley Co-op
This wasn't for me. I did appreciate the very open and relaxed attitude towards sex and sexuality, but the writing was simply too straightforward, repetitive, void of any real emotion, and at times it felt AI generated.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc in return for an honest review.
I received an eARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first real foray into gay erotica and I suppose I got pretty much what I expected. At its heart it's quite a sweet wholesome story about a man learning more about himself and a main character that a lot of gay people can only dream of encountering in that he is incredibly understanding, kind, and compassionate towards the love interest. I appreciate that this was a pretty straightforward light read that didn't have an annoying third act conflict, but I feel like I would have liked there to be more of an emotional punch because otherwise it wouldn't be that memorable of a story.
But alas, one doesn't really read erotica for the harrowing stuff. I really enjoyed the spice in this book. The sex scenes were pretty hot, but at times the descriptions felt rather repetitive, some of them didn't land quite well, and I was a bit annoyed whenever the narrator would break the fourth wall.
Overall a solid read but I wouldn't be rushing into anyone's DMs to recommend it.
Netgalley has never been for me, I’ve had an account for years but nothing has ever made me want to click the request button… until now. Special Delivery was my first Net Galley experience and I devoured it in one day.
This book is all good things. Honest. Low angst. Friends to Lovers. Self discovery. Sexual awakening. Healing after loss. It’s wholesome and hot with sharp whitty humor and a comfort level you get with only friends. My favorite part was the sex positive narrative. Not only was the self proclaimed “slutty” guy sexy positive, but the love interest who was monogamous to a fault - full romantic that *needed* that emotional connection - was not only accepting but supportive and open to his new friends sexuality and vice versa. It was all very respectful and just.. well warm and fuzzy. And the parents? No longer asking about long term relationships and monogamy. Just judgment free and unconditional supportive parentals.
This book takes place after the Covid lockdown as structure and more importantly, socialization, is allowed once more. Two guys meet, click, become friends but so much more.
This book was sex positive and the communication, understanding, and acceptance between the two characters was AMAZING! However, I felt like the love story fell flat - they went from having no feelings to be in love in like 2 seconds flat and then the book kind of ended. I felt like there was no real conflict but the story was a beautiful tale of self discovery and acceptance and at its core was a wonderful depiction of friendship and communication. I wish we got some of Matts POV to see how he was really feeling and I wish Toms internal dialogue made us understand how he was really feeling about Matt because we knew there was a friendship and an attraction but we were never lead to believe it would turn into more and then all of a sudden it was.
I can't say this book is in my wheelhouse, but I appreciate how the story allows Matt the freedom to thoroughly and completely explore his sexuality in a very no-shame environment. There's not a huge amount of in-depth character development, but this book is a fun read. 3.5 stars.
I received an ARC from the author, in exchange for an honest review.
There was me thinking the shower itself was steamy! 🥵
WOAHHHHH! This was one hell of a smutty, raunchy and sexy read and I was so here for it! I stepped completely out of my comfort zone to read this debut gay erotic novel and it was the BEST decision! 🔥
Who even knew that books were written like this? And about DELIVERY DRIVERS! I’m glad my Amazon driver is a woman! 🤣
At around 200 pages, I devoured this book in 3 hours!!!! It was spicy AF 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️!
Tom is working from home and his day takes a turn when straight delivery driver Matt knocks on his door. Matt’s grappling with life whilst Tom is grappling over Matt. This is just the beginning…
This was amazing! It was so lovely to read about gay romance, intamacy and sex in such a positive light. Tom was living his single mid-twenties life with casual hookups and I loved the body positive aspect to it. I also liked the straight man coming to terms with his sexuality vibes too.
What I loved the most was that there was also an underlying plot between all the hot, steamy and sweaty f🍑k🍆ng and … (Yes I’ll leave the rest to your imagination 😏)!
This book was pure naughty. The descriptions had my pulse racing. Some of the book was explored so tenderly and I loved the sprinkle of funny moments, but overall, this book is NOT SAFE TO READ IN PUBLIC! 🤣
A huge thank you to @arnoldjmiles for reaching out and sending me an ARC of Special Delivery which is published the 24th June! ❤️
I feel like I’ve been sucked into the smut world of Bookstagram now and I am NOT complaining! 🥵
I need more recs now!!!! 😍
Thank you to @clairsbooks and @book.off.dave for convincing me to pick this up a lot sooner than planned! 🥰
Does Tom measures every single dick he encounters? Literally everyone has 7 inches dick (& low hanging balls) and it's repeated constantly. Super weird. Also, if I hear "mate" one more time, I'll scream.
This is a beautiful story of two men discovering themselves in different ways.
Whilst it contains some incredibly hot, steamy sex scenes, it wasn't the main focus for me. I was definitely more interested in the plot of this romance.
As a gay male, I found myself identifying with the main character at times, understanding where the POV was coming from. I often find that M/M romance (especially those with sex scenes) tends to be an exaggerated version of what people expect. This had the right balance, where it felt more real.
My negative point: at times, the author would repeat descriptions, and whilst it's sometimes good to be reminded of certain elements, it doesn't need to be a paragraph apart. It almost felt like the author had forgotten they had already mentioned it. Also, there was a speech mark missing in one of the chapters, which affected my reading rhythm - and I do find it frustrating when I have to stop and search a page for something.
However, it was a fantastic story, quick read, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading this book.
Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC.
I had the pleasure of receiving an ARC from Netgalley for the audiobook of Special Delivery, narrated by Nathan Wolfe. Nathan, I was not familiar with your game, I will be definitely listening to more narrations of yours!
I highly recommend Special Delivery to anyone looking for a low-angst, sweet (but not overly so) story of gay and bi-discovery. The relationship between the two MCs is refreshingly mature, they’ve clearly been to therapy and communicate their feelings like healthy adults (at least 90% of the time), which is a nice change of pace from what I usually read. You can typically find me sobbing over angsty and toxic MCs, so this book served as the perfect palate cleanser.
The story is told from the perspective of Tom, a 20-something gay man who is confidently sex-positive. He meets Matt, a package delivery driver who is recently widowed, and their friendship quickly blossoms into something more. What I enjoyed most about this book was its positive approach to sexuality, Tom’s patience with Matt as he navigates his newfound attraction to men, and the absence of fear and anxiety in Matt’s self-discovery. I feel these aspects were handled really well by the author.
A heads-up: there’s an MMF scene towards the end of the book, so be aware if that’s not your preference.
This book would be a great introduction to MM romance for those who haven’t explored the genre before. Bonus points for the stunning book cover!
special delivery explores a post-pandemic timeline of tom and matt's relationship as apartment dweller and delivery driver, respectively. tom is an openly gay and sexual man who is not afraid to hide it. matt is a guy who thinks he's hetero, and the story explores his sexuality in a very accepting and open way.
i was a bit put off by how okay tom was to engage in sexual relations with "straight" married men in the gym locker room, but that says more about the married men than tom. i found that i was not emotionally invested in tom and matt's relationship until the last 10% of the book. at times, the writing felt shallow and repetitive, which is where it missed the mark for me. as a lover of m/m romance, the amount of times the word "mate" was said out loud during literal sexual activity made me want to cry.
however, i did enjoy matt's exploration of sexuality and the mention of demisexuality, which often gets overlooked on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. i like how matt didn't feel the need to put a label on his feelings, and that he wasn't using tom as an "experiment" to figure himself out. i found that tom and matt had very effective communication, and it was just gentle, warm feelings between the two.
A wonderfully sweet and spicy romance between a tenant and a delivery driver. Lots of spicy scenes but also lots of heart and earnest conversations about identity and sexuality and sex positivity. This was honestly much cuter than I expected it to be for an erotic novel (in a good way). I listened to the audiobook and recommend it. The narrator did a fantastic job.
I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
did the author upload the wrong version of his book to kindle? because the version i got did not get a single editing pass.
if it did, that person should be fired.
edit: i recently discovered that this author uses AI to write, and i would not be surprised if that cover was also AI generated given the shit in his IG feed. i'm so glad i refunded this unmitigated garbage.
4.5 Stars 5 Spicy - Audiobook review Firstly, Tom and Matt are adorable! You can't help but fall in love with both guys. Special Delivery is a sweet story about the very very openly gay Tom, and "straight" delivery driver Matt who form a friendship that turns into something more. Its a bit of a sexual awaking and exploration for Matt, while Tom is such a supportive, caring, compassionate person who just wants whatever makes Matt happy. Tom is such a sassy fabulous character and feels so fleshed out. Matt is definitely more reserved, but he has a lot of depth and a bit of sadness in his backstory. Matt is so open-minded and accepting of Tom early into their friendship. I loved listening to their story just naturally flow through the transitions from strangers to friends and beyond. This is an erotica book, so it is suuuper spicy! Tom is a self-described slut and that very much shows up nearly every other chapter. Basically gay porn with a plot and well-rounded characters. I loved every minute of it. Tom's attitude towards consent and checking in with your partner to ensure they are still comfortable and maintaining consent along the way is just so refreshing to come across in a book! Fantastic job to Arnold Miles for including that so seamlessly into your scenes. Also, discussions on safe sex, just amazing to include in the book! The narrator did a great job of giving each character their own voice and vocal mannerisms. It made it so easy to tell who was speaking and what each character was feeling during those scenes. The narrator deserves an award for his voice-acting during the spicy scenes! He really went all-out on those. Overall, a fantastic debut novel for Mr. Miles. I'd love to read more of his books in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the advance listen audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
This book is almost journal-style, with a very casual writing style. You are basically let into the mind of the main character, Tom, and all of his personal thoughts. The focus of this book is on exploring sexuality in a shame-free environment. Tom is gay and comfortable in his sexuality, and meets a straight, widowed man who he develops a strong connection to. It's a sweet story that is very casual around sex, which was refreshing. There is a lot of spice in this book as Tom tells us about his sexual encounters.
I think the writing style may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you enjoy spice and a sweet story, you might enjoy this book!
Thank you to Arnold Miles and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for my review.
Surprise, surprise! I got this NetGalley ARC/audiobook (ta very much!) for free, and being ga-ga for the narrator (one of the best I've ever heard) was quite shocked to find out this is a porno in disguise! Ooops! not my sort of book but loved the narrator so much that altogether it gets 4 stars. I learnt things I never knew before too. Happy days.
Thank you to NetGalley for an eARC of this title in exchange for a review!
To keep this review short and polite -- the book felt unfinished and read like it was written on a rapidly approaching deadline. In addition to edits to typos and grammar, the plot itself really needed a few rounds of edits and iterations before it was anywhere near ready for being published. The "sex positivity" came across more as unhealthy sexual fixation that turned the main character into nothing more than a walking harmful stereotype of gay men.
I'm glad to see that others have enjoyed this book, though!
While I've read a lot of spicy books, this is my first read explicitly shelved as erotica.
I enjoyed the book's general sex-positive attitude, though I feel like it played a little into the promiscuous gay stereotype. Not having lived that experience, I can't say how accurately the book portrays it. Most of the time I wasn't getting bogged down in the details and kept going with the flow of the book.
The story itself is pretty simple, but that's okay, it's a short book. Our MC, Tom, works remotely post-pandemic and is isolated from people apart from a few surface-level friendships and hookups. Enter friendly Hot Delivery Guy, Matt, who ends up chatting with Tom. Matt also happens to be straight, or so he thinks.
As the two become friends, they have surprisingly open conversations about sex in general and Matt starts to explore who he is and what he wants. I feel like these conversations were sometimes too open though. I'd love it if life and relationships went more like they did here but at times it felt like both Tom and Matt were too self-aware and great at communication and that took away from the realism of their conversations. Though that also means that we didn't get typical miscommunication issues and I like that a lot!
There was one point the book almost lost me though. There's an MMF encounter late in the book that I found a bit lackluster and (while I see the narrative purpose) I'd rather have done without.
In general I think this book is great at showing characters safely explore their wants and finding more than they'd dared hope for.
I've received a copy of the audiobook through NetGalley and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
So great to read a gay story that isn’t just pure sex (though those scenes are well written) but just about two guys finding themselves and finding something new in each other. Literally only had one chapter left to post in its original location, but super happy to buy on Amazon to support the authors work. I hope to see more from them.
Special Delivery by Arnold Miles is a fun, honest, sex-positive, shamelessly spicy MM romance that blends humour, self-discovery, and acceptance. The two main characters' communication, understanding, and acceptance are truly remarkable, making this story a beautiful tale of friendship, self-discovery, and love.
The journey of Matt and Tom, from friends to lovers, is a captivating one. It's a story of self-awakening and the deepening of their relationship. Our main character, Tom (a little bit sluty), works from home and, apart from casual hook-ups and a few friends, is feeling somewhat isolated. Along comes Matt, the friendly, HOT delivery guy who needs to use the Loo, strikes up a conversation with Tom and changes everything. Matt, who initially identifies as straight, begins to question his sexuality as he grows closer to Tom.
The humour and open discussions around sex and sexuality are not just spot on; they're a key part of what makes this story so engaging and relatable. Arnold Miles has crafted a narrative that is entertaining and meaningful, exploring themes of self-discovery and acceptance in a refreshing way. The chemistry between Tom and Matt is electric, and their interactions are filled with genuine emotion and honesty.
Nathan Wolf, the narrator, was an excellent choice for this audiobook. His narration adds so much personality to the characters, making distinguishing between them and following their conversations easy. Nathan's performance enhances the story, bringing it to life in a way that makes it even more enjoyable. I will be looking for more of Nathan Wolf's work in the future.
Overall, Special Delivery is a sweet love story with a spicy twist, complete with detailed sex scenes that add to the depth of the characters' relationship. I highly recommend this book to all my friends and anyone looking for a heartfelt and humorous MM spicy romance.
Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for providing me with the audio ARC of Special Delivery. Arnold Miles has just become one of my auto-buy authors, and I can't wait to read more from this author.
Tom can’t help it, every time his mind wanders to Matt, the delivery man.
Tom has enough men around for a hot quickie at home, or get face fucked in a cubicle by a stranger, mostly straight men. But Matt is, oh yes, he’s thinking again about Matt because he is something else, Matt is a nice straight bloke, an ally. They connect wonderfully. Matt needs a friend, Tom can do that, he can be a friend, and still fantasize a little about Matt.
The story is told by Tom, in between his encounters with Matt we also get to know him in other ways. He’s quite laid back, he lives a content and satisfying life. He’s not looking or in search of a permanent relationship, but also not averse to it. He goes with the flow. Still, Matt is in his head on a daily basis. He wants to be his friend without a hard-on in front of him, and that’s a bit of a problem.
They are the same age, lived and live a totally different life. I’m not spoiling in what way! Their friendship is precious. They are honest and open to each other, open to everything btw! Watch them and enjoy the exploring, eagerly learning, and hot encounters. While Tom isn’t a monogamous guy to settle down, the question is, is Matt?
At some point, something changed, and asked for some introspection.
It’s a quite lovable story, consistently written so Tom and his mind felt constant. Through his point of view, we get to know Matt. I loved the attention to all the little details. It felt honest and intimate. The atmosphere is mellow, the flow comfortable, and the sexual encounters hot AF.
I have a few tiny complaints, first, the blurb is very short, you can use a blurb to mention some content, second, I was a bit surprised by the slight mfm (more a mf) encounter. Third, reading the word ‘mate’ 155 times was a bit much. End conclusion: Besides the beautiful cover!!, it was certainly a nice read, I had a few relaxing and enjoyable hours.
Well this was a series of surprises. First of all, I guess I did not pay close enough attention to notice that I was requesting erotica (and the cover, while lovely, is a tad misleading). So at first I found the focus on sex a little jarring but that's on me for not correctly reading the label. Just as I had settled in for what I was starting to expect to be mainly self-insert PWP (with somewhat needless and repetitive detailed descriptions of various penii and "loads"), I was surprised again by the gentle tenderness and growth of the main relationship. Matt is just the sweetest, most innocent cinnamon roll and Tom is really considerate and careful. I loved their open and honest communication and I found it easy to keep listening to see how things turned out and I'm glad I did. This was a very low stakes, chill and easy read. While I wouldn't say it was overall very deep - there were some very thoughtful moments. The writing was okay for an indie debut. There was quite a lot of repetition and in some places the story felt a bit focused on the mundane or lacking emotion - that may in part be due to the casual, journal/first-person narration. I also thought the narration was really well done - any time one of the characters laughs or chuckles was delivered in the most delightful way. And the way Matt is always calling Tom mate was adorable. Honestly, I might even listen again.
I know lots of my GR friends would enjoy this book for exactly what it is and I recommend picking it up when it comes out June 24 or when you're next in the mood for this type of book..
A couple of content notes come to mind: death of a partner in the past, ethical non-monogamy and being set in the late stages of the pandemic are the three big ones.
I received digital and audio Advance Reader Copies from NetGalley and the author in exchange for an honest review.
Special Delivery, set two years into the Covid-19 pandemic, is told through the eyes of Tom, a sexually charged man who works from home and constantly finds himself looking for the next hookup. He is very sex positive and isn't afraid to proclaim it! One day, a delivery man needs buzzed into the building to leave a package (not that kind of package...yet) and Tom immediately takes in the man's physical appearance. HE IS A HOTTIE! This hottie's name is Matt, and he has a quick chat with Tom before heading back out to work. They exchange niceties and end up becoming friendly and it is through their friendship that they both find a place of comfort and vulnerability.
The story helps show that sexuality isn't always a straight line, it's fluid and ever moving. There are also topics of grief, healing, and owning your sexual desires. The story shines in the early friendship of Tom and Matt, it's very precious. They have lovely banter and easily open up to each other (again, not in that way...yet).
It is a very short story and it moves quickly. Which leads to one of the only things I didn't like about Special Delivery. A lot of it feels very surface level, you don't get a chance to sit in the weight of things, but I don't think it's trying to be that either. The only other small thing that took me out of the story was the random fourth wall breaks. I didn't feel like I needed the narrator talking to me directly, asking me trivial questions.
At the end of the day this is a VERY steamy book, packed full of hot sex- and just enough heart. If you're looking for some M/M spice, then this is the book to go with!
I'd rate this 3.5/5 (rounded up to 4) stars. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
In “Special Delivery,” Arnold Miles crafts a quick read that sizzles with chemistry and charm, set against the backdrop of a world slowly finding its feet after COVID.
Our main character, Tom, is the quintessential hybrid worker, splitting his time between home and office. But it’s his role as the go-to guy for package drop-offs in his building that kicks off this delightful tale. Tom meets Matt, the handsome delivery driver who leaves a package for Tom’s neighbor—and inadvertently leaves a mark Tom’s libido.
The dynamic between Tom and Matt is nothing short of amazing. Tom’s self-assuredness is the perfect counterbalance to Matt’s journey of self-discovery. What I loved most about their relationship was how Tom’s confidence didn’t overshadow his ability to be caring and supportive. It’s refreshing to see a character who can be both strong and tender without compromising either trait.
Reading about Tom made me wish more people like him existed in real life—confident yet compassionate, understanding without being judgmental. Imagine a world where more folks embraced others with the same openness and support Tom shows Matt. It’s the kind of character that makes you hopeful for a kinder, more accepting society.
Miles has done a fantastic job with the sexual openness between the characters. Miles creates a safe space for both Tom and Matt to explore their desires and identities. This openness adds depth to their connection, making their journey together feel both authentic and intensely passionate.
“Special Delivery” is a delightful blend of heat and heart, perfect for a quick escape into a world where love can be found in the most unexpected of places—like the next package at your door.
Special Delivery gives us all the MM smutty-smut-smut. If that's what you're looking for you will enjoy this one. It's lighter on the romance and plot outside of the relationship and sexuality-awakening, so if you're looking for something more plot focused, this might not be for you.
The book is written from Tom's point of view. Tom loves and frequently enjoys no-strings-attached casual sex. He meets Matt, a straight ally, and they immediately hit it off and become great friends. Matt has never been interested or attracted to men before, but as his friendship with Tom grows and deepens he finds that for the first time, he is curious about and attracted to a man.
Tom is incredibly respectful and patient as he allows Matt to explore and discover his own sexuality. Tom introduces him to the idea of possibly identifying as demi, because Matt seems to struggle with having a physical connection to anyone he does not have a personal connection with.
This entire book was presented in a very sex positive light. There was no stewing in feelings of shame or negativity during Matt's self-discovery and Tom was nothing but supportive and open with him.
The narration was great. Nathan Wolfe delivered an enjoyable performance I had no qualms with. I did notice an audio editing error in the epilogue, and I believe there was one other editing error I noticed, but I cannot remember which chapter it was in. Given this was provided to me as and advanced listener copy, I hope they catch those errors before the audiobook is published, but it definitely happens!
Thank you to NetGalley and Arnold Miles for the audio ARC/ALC.
Special Delivery ✏️ Arnold Miles 🎙️Nathan Miles 🧬 Erotica, LGBTQIAP+, Romance ALC Provided by NetGalley Victory Editing. Release Date 6/24/2024
A refreshing story and very sex positive book. We have one gay man who knows what he wants, does not have a committed relationship but doesn’t allow that to deter his sex life. A delivery man who has only been in women discovering who is he, what he is comfortable with and what he enjoys.
This was a very smut heavy book so I was not expecting the amount of plot that came with it. The book is in one persons POV (the man that is sex positive and very open about it). This is the first book I have read with this mindset where it is not belittled or used as a troupe to “heal” because of trauma.
This is a perfect read for heavy smut, enough plot to keep you interested in the character development and not the same old thing, then you need to pick this one up!!
The narrator did a great job. His cadence was faster than most so speed at 2 was perfect for me. The book had more of a vocal performance than vocal acting. (The story led the book, and there wasn’t over the top dramatics)
I'm still fairly new to queer romance, and to erotica, especially. This book was tagged as "smut with a plot," and so I was interested right away. What an understatement. Although "smutty," this book seamlessly blends a romantic plot and great characters around sex scenes that make sense (not feeling like they're just thrown in there willy-nilly). Even better, the themes in this story revolving around self exploration and involving clear and open communication between the characters involved, was a breath of fresh air. The author's sense of humor is on-point, as well. There just wasn't anything I didn't like about this short little book. I will definitely be purchasing a physical copy of this for my collection. Not only does this story deserve 5 stars, so does the audiobook. The narrator, Nathan Wolfe does a simply FANTASTIC job with this story and it's characters. I would be thrilled to listen to Wolfe read more queer fiction to me! BRAVO, TEAM! Thank you so much to #NetGalley, Arnold Miles, and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for providing ARC copies of both the Kindle and Audio editions of this book. Here is your honest review of #SpecialDelivery.
