Again, I really enjoyed the story but it's all just build up and then... absolutely nothing.

I wanted to see the aftermath of Nate and Carter officially getting together. Does his dad do anything? What does his mum do? How does Beckett react when Carter calls him nephew... How is it resolved with Nate's job and Carter being a student? How does Carter's music ambition progress? I could pull my hair out there were so many loose ends that got completely ignored.

I don't want an epilogue 20 months later that's basically just another sex scene that felt like the previous sex scene and added nothing except it was from Nate's POV. I want to see their actual romantic relationship once they finally commit to each other with no doubt because this is a romance story!

I loved this forbidden romance between new coach Nate and hockey player Carter. I enjoyed how minor the overall angst was between these two; most of their problems came from internal struggles that were mostly separate from their relationship. I appreciate how both took their time to learn about each other while appreciating how much they had changed over the years.

Nate was experiencing a serious case of midlife crisis after his career-ending injury, which affected his ability to process and move forward, no longer as a professional hockey player. This aspect of his story was realistic and compassionate. I enjoyed his journey towards accepting his new reality and finally allowing himself to have a meaningful relationship.

Carter was also a very welcome surprise. His hidden musical desires were a breath of fresh air and showed a side of him that I was not expecting, I found it added so many sweet layers that allowed him to express himself so uniquely.

Overall, a forbidden relationship is my favorite trope, and Nate and Carter navigated this complicated dynamic very well. For most of their story, they remain mostly professional and I appreciated the slow build of their feelings and eventual reveal to one another. This great emotional romance is a fitting finale to this entertaining series.

Ooookay. I got a bit of a problem. It’s barely been a week since I finished this book and I can’t remember how it ended. At ALL. Like, wtf brain?

I do remember liking it. I do remember that I appreciated the “small guy” rep. Because, come on. Not everyone is packing 8+ inches and the girth of a coke can. It just gets old.

But I don’t remember the end. Like, did we get an epilogue of where all the players end up in ten years? That would have been nice.

You know what else would’ve been nice? Remembering the story. And I’m not sure if it is that the story wasn’t memorable or my memory turned to shit. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The progression of this story was weird. It wasted 50% of the plot on unnecessary angst instead of having our characters spend time with one another WHILE fighting feelings of attraction. You can’t have angst when the characters don’t even see each other. That’s imaginary delusional tension. Then, it suddenly jumps to love and devotion after two sexual encounters and a date. We don’t get to see these two fall in lust, much less in love.

I love me an age gap (even a large one like this) but I need my younger character to have the maturity to handle an adult relationship and behave mature for his age. Carter came across extremely childlike which made the romance icky. Also, men having emotions doesn’t mean tearing up or crying every two minutes. Jeez.

What was up with all the “small penis” talk? Like we get that Carter is not well endowed, but why was it fetishized in a way that made Carter sound “young” during sex? If this was a taboo smut book, then great… but this was supposed to be an age gap college hockey romance.

The whole situation with Carter’s dad just made him look even younger…

I laughed at the logistics of switching college classes and housing that easy, specially without his controlling father finding out.

Having a crush for years, on your dad’s straight best friend, twice your age, isn’t a good thing, but Carter can’t help himself.
Now that man will be his new coach. Lovely… with his dad breathing in his neck only caring about Carter’s training and results, the fun… not! Carter rather play music!

Nate doesn’t want to be the coach, after his accident his status as a famous and sexiest hockey player is done and over. Above that, his best friend’s son Carter is on the team. A raw talent, super attractive, making him feel things he hid for so long. And the boy has more talents than hockey. He wishes his best friend accepted this.

Oh, did I say Nate isn’t as straight as everyone thinks he is? He keeps it a secret.

Oh, oh, and did I say Carter visited his profile on Grindr? Yup secret uncovered!
Carter is shocked he never knew and now he can’t get it out of his head.

What happens further you’ll have to read for yourself. I only tell they end up together but oh boy it isn’t easy. Nate thinks he’s old and sweet Carter is the patient one.
Sadly there are external forces who want to keep them separate. Ugh!

Quite a wonderful story, Carter was such a great character, let’s just say Nate has a lot to learn, or maybe unlearn. My heart hurt for them and I was so happy with the end results!
The writing was excellently done, with just the right pace, and all the feelings exposed at the right time. 4.5 stars

In this series we've had some of my favorite romance tropes such as enemies to lovers and stepbrothers. In Coaching Prince Charming we get another fun trope with a forbidden coach/student relationship. And not just any coach, no. We have Nate Partridge, Becketts famous hockey player uncle, falling for one of his players. A BIG no no, especially since Nate has been deep in the closet for the entirety of his career.

Carter was such a sweetie pie. He was so humble when it came to his skills in hockey and music. I felt so awful with the way his dad treated him. To be honest, I was really hoping for Nate to tell Carters dad, whom is also his long time "friend" by the way, to basically go fuck himself. That was how terrible Carter's dad was.

I enjoyed seeing these two men find themselves together. Nate may have been significantly older, but he was still finding his way after retiring from hockey. Carter was still working on who he was when he wasn't being forced to play hockey by his dad. They supported one another and it was really cute how Nate called him baby.

I could have done without the 3rd act breakup. Def felt like Nate needed to grovel WAY harder for the things he said. I know he didn't mean them, but the whole thing was just cruel to me. It felt like kicking a puppy. It was a big change from the sweet way he treated Carter once they started their relationship. I did love the epilogue though. I love seeing MCs farther down the line, happy as could be. And that's exactly what these two were.

It got the angst, drama, fun peeps & sweetness. I'd squealed seeing Nate was getting a book, Loved Carter & Nate! DEVOURED my #ARC in 5hrs.

Nate (38) was a pro hockey player but an "accident" changed all. Now's the new coach to his nephew's (Beck!) team. He's sulking, hurting, gruff but caring...with a secret!
Carter (19) is a college freshman, with musical aspirations but forced into a dream that's not his. He's out & proud, also has a crush on Nate (who is C's dad's old friend). C's passionate, so wise & genuine. But no way N will like C back?

The angst, push/pull is so amusing to see 🤭. I love it! Seeing them grow beyond prejudice, being true to themselves, achieve their goals is a great motivator & awesome. The chemistry is sweet, It's more on the emotional side, but the few sexy scenes we got are hot too! Grindr scene is epic 😂.

That climax! Man, we all could see it from miles away but DAMN it escalated quickly! Would I've liked more groveling? Sure. But yeah, forgiveness is the jazz & Carter is a really good person. Loved the HEA. Also, Beck is a saint, that boy got so much Character dev throughout the series! I also liked Ron.

I saw this is the final book 😔, what a way to go. Loved these boys!

It’s the final book of the Arctic Titans of Northwood U! So sad it’s the final book, but it was a great one to go out on. Hockey is Nate Partridge’s life. And when an accident on the ice ends his NHL career before he can go out on his own terms, it breaks a part of him. He knows he was near the end of his career, but he was sure he had a bit more left in him. But the choice was taken for him and he stumbles a bit. At least until his nephew and his nephew’s boyfriend keep him from fully spiraling and he is asked to step in to coach the Titans. With no good reason to say no and missing hockey, he accepts for now. At least glad to be closer to his nephew. But doing so puts him in the path of Carter Prince. The son of a longtime friend of his from the NHL and who is about to threaten everything Nate has hidden in himself for a very long time. Carter has had a long time crush on Nate. And when he accidentally discovers Nate is gay, he can’t help the hope that builds in himself that wonders if there is a chance Nate could feel something for him. Carter has been pushed into hockey his whole life by his dad. And though he has the talent, the passion has died a bit more each day by the pressure and the fact that music is his true passion. One that he is amazingly good at. Decisions need to be made when it comes to Carter’s future. And when the chemistry between Carter and Nate ignites, it’s only a matter of time until they need to make their choices. These two were such a surprising couple! Despite their near 20 year age gap, they fit. Carter is such an older soul that his nineteen years. With the way he grew up, he is just very mature for his age and understands the world better than many think. And Nate just needs that reminder that at 38, he isn’t ancient. Carter makes him feel young again and even more, Nate and Carter see the truth in one another when it comes to exactly who they are. And if they want any chance of a future, they will need to fight for it. A great way to end this series! I loved this series so much and I’m sad to see it end. But it is definitely a favorite of mine!

God i’m so sad this book had an ending. I wanted to live in this book where Nate and Carter forever.

My heart was stolen by these two from the first sentence and I couldn’t be happier with how these two came together and fought for the love they had for each other.

This has to be the best book of the series, hands down. All of them were great but this one was just so stinking good that I want to read it over and over again just so I can enjoy how much these two love each other.

I literally adored the whole series and I'm so so bummed that the last book didn't work for me.

I was waiting for Nate's story since he appeared in Big Stick Energy, I wanted so much for him to have a sexual awakening or a coming out. He seemed so sad when Beckett came out at the game and worse, at the end of the previous book, his career is over because of an injury.
Nate is angry, frustrated, confused, he accepts the job as Coach just to have something to do, while waiting to figure out what he wants to do next.
He didn't think that new job could change his life.
I liked very much Carter too, he's very mature for his age, he's determined on chasing his dreams and he fights hard to get away from his father's control.

What prevented me to give a higher rate:
I honestly didn't see a real connection between Nate and Carter. It's not about the age gap, but rather because Nate "accepted" to have a relationship with Carter without really knowing him as an adult. I didn't feel the overwhelming love from his side.
Then there's also Dana's situation: he was too much of a supervillain and quite hard to believe.
Lastly, this was the last book of the series but all the other Titans are missing. We had very little of them in the previous book, since it was set outside the college, and we don't see here either, except for a few scenes with Beckett and Caden.

I would have loved a different end for this amazing series.

The premises were good. I really liked Nate and Carter and their personal struggles to find themselves and a purpose besides hockey, but I think the story unfolded a little too fast and some things were a little too unbelievable - like Carter switching classes that easily and everyone being 100% okay with them being together.

Their relationship also went from 0 to 100 real quick 😂

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL FINALE!💕

We have always heard about Beckets uncle Nate Partridge 38 and now we finally get a more in-depth look into his background as a NHL Hockey Player that got hurt and is now acting coach to the Arctic Titans and his best friends son Carter Prince 19…

“You live your life in the closet, the closet becomes your home.”

Their age difference was vast but the connection and feelings these two characters had for each other was undeniable and inevitable even though Nate tried to diffuse and reject Carters flirting and advances after a Grinder oops…

I loved how Nate supported Carter in his passion for playing musical instruments and how he realised what a genius he was at it!
I loved how Nate brought out the joy for living again out of Nate and made him feel younger!

Their journey was not all smooth sailing as Nate was still in the closet and the chance of Carters father finding out was imminent with devastating consequences…

Becket was a supporting rock for his uncle which was awe inspiring and sweet!!

A beautiful finale with a sweet steamy epilogue from a author I will always recommend!

When injured and retired NHL player Nate Partridge joins the Titans as their new coach, no one is happier than Carter Prince, who has had a crush on Nate for years since he's his dad's old teammate and all.

This was sweet, but it lacked emotional depth and maturity. It felt like they fell into bed and in love at the same time without really doing much at all. Not to mention, Nate needed to grovel significantly more than he did for the things he did and said. There were vague mentions of potential alcoholism that didn't get explored at all and it just felt very rushed, overall. I still like the characters, just wish we got more of a story from them.

Firstly, Hayden Hall must be a Wonder Woman fan. There is the younger character in this book named Carter Prince - Wonder Woman was famously played on TV by actress Lynda Carter, and Wonder Woman's "civilian" last name is Prince - and then there is his father, Dana Prince - Dana just one vowel away from Wonder Woman's first name, Diana. Clever, clever, Mr. Hall.

Regardless, this book was just so-so. As in so many of the age gap romances I've read, the older guy, Nate, is perpetually whining about how old he is, even though he is just 38 in this book. 38!! Why, he's practically on death's door. /s Then, of course, he's deeply closeted and simply not as mature as young Carter, who is 19 and acts like *he* is the older one in the relationship.

I felt a lot of sympathy for both characters, but I think Hall was running out of steam on this seventh book of this series. As in the previous book, there is very little actual hockey going on. The revelation of Nate's and Carter's relationship to the Arctic Titans players is off screen, as in the previous book, except for Nate's nephew, Becket, also queer, and Hall basically just gives a summary of Nate's discussion of Becket about it. Becket ties together some points for Nate, but it was a let down.

Now, I'm usually one to defend age gap stories from people who are icked out by them. Everyone is an adult here, and twenty years age gap is not uncommon in the gay community. Nevertheless, I think Hall really does a disservice to this type of story because Nate has known Carter since Carter was literally a child. Watching him grow up, giving him advice, etc. This is definitely pushing things a bit far for mainstream romance. I'm not opposed to it, but it does give some ammo to people who wrongly accuse older men in these relationships as being predators and/or groomers. This borders on taboo for most people and maybe it should have been relegated to more off-the-beaten-path romance/erotica genre.

Audio relisten: I have now also gone back and listened to the audiobook and my initial review thoughts still stand! The audio narration was so good, and now I really want to go back and listen to the series from the start.

Can’t believe this series is over! 😭😭😭

This was an emotional story to end the Arctic Titans saga with but it was a lovely way to end it all the same.

Compared to the first few books in this series the last few have definitely carried a lot more emotional weight, and this one is definitely more angsty with the age gap/coach & athlete dynamics.

Though one of those factors is resolved relatively early on, there is still the fact that Nate’s so called “best friend” is Carter’s dad (and a general pos).

A lot of the time in this story is spent in the thoughts & minds of each MC, without as much interactive dialogue. This isn’t usually my preferred style of storytelling, but it does work for this story as both Nate & Carter have a lot of mental & emotional grief to work thru before they can get together. That being said I loved all the scenes we got with Nate & Carter together as their banter and how they speak to each other was so lovely.

Another awesome hockey read from Hayden Hall! This one is a little less about hockey and a little more about following your dreams despite what the world might say about them. Carter struggles a lot with pressures from his former pro hockey player dad. However with some help and support from some of his hockey teammates, which I thought was really cute, he embraces his true passions and questions if hockey is really for him.

Nate is the new hockey coach also mildy questioning everything about his life. There is a bit of push and pull and they both grapple with the age gap and the power difference, but (without too many spoilers) before the romance really starts it becomes better so it isn't so forbidden once they get together which I enjoyed better.

It was super sweet to see Nate supporting Carter through all his big and scary life decisions. They're a power couple together and Nate never makes Carter feel like he's throwing his life away. The angst towards the end was a little annoying lol, but obviously they figure it all out. I liked them together and liked this addition to the series. It is pretty sad this is the final book, but hopefully this author will give us other new series to enjoy.

Coaching Prince Charming is the seventh book in the Arctic Titans of Northwood U, but I haven't read any of the other ones so this one can definitely be read as a standalone and you won't feel lost. Hall does a great job of recapping previous characters/relationships without being 'tell-y'. This book instantly caught my eye because I love coach x player, age gap and size difference.

Nate hurt my heart but I was so happy he got his HEA. And Carter omg was the absolute SWEETEST BOY EVER. He was also determined and not afraid to speak his mind and he was perfect for Nate.

This book made me interested in going back to read some of the other ones. It was also relatively short and sweet and I read it in one sitting.

I have loved the vast majority of Hayden Hall’s stories. This one missed the mark big time. That has mostly to do with things that drive me batty.

I love coach/player, age gaps, and friends son tropes, and for the most part I liked this story. Then we get to the steam and things went downhill from there. It was fine the first time, but when size is brought into it with every mention, and almost fetishized, it strikes the wrong cord on so many levels. This isn’t a kink or omegaverse world where I would expect these things to be harped on. It took me right out of the story and immediately tanked my interest. If it weren’t for the fact that I wanted to see how the cluster was unf*cked, I wouldn’t have bothered finishing it. I’m sad that this one didn’t resonate with me, but it hasn’t turned me off the author. It just points out that this story wasn’t written to my tastes. 2.5 ⭐️⭐️

Perfect ending!

Oh wow. Such a good book! Sweet, young Carter Prince comes from hockey royalty. His dad was one of the best. Hockey players, not fathers. As a father, Dana Prince was demanding, abusive, and a drug and alcohol addict. Carter loves hockey, but his heart belongs to two other loves - music and Nate Partridge.

Disillusioned, closeted, and forced to retire, former hockey player Nate Partridge finds himself coaching the Arctic Titans. He'd rather be playing than coaching, but a serious injury forced him to retire before he was ready. His old friend's son is one of the better players on the team. But that's all he is, just another player on the team. Right?

I love the moment of reckoning when Nate realizes he's attracted to Carter. It comes completely out of the blue for him. He battles with having an intimate relationship with someone he's coaching. But Carter has known how he's felt for years. Simply put, he loves Nate.

There is friction trying to reconcile their age difference. But thankfully, Hayden Hall doesn't put us through too much angst. And the ending? Absolute perfection.

This is such a good book with an age-gap romance. There's the perfect amount of sweet and heat, along with a fun kink that Carter has and Nate finds he loves. It's a must-read for me!

When I read the summary for this one I KNEW I had to have it. Age-gap? Dad’s ex friend? HOCKEY? New coach? PINING? Yeah, I needed it for obvious reasons. But, this just wasn’t the win I wanted it to be. The two were great together and I /did/ have fun but the pacing!! I have a lot of trouble connecting with characters and really believing their relationship when things are too fast paced and unfortunately this was one of those for me.

I have been waiting for Nate and Carter's book ever since I read the first chapter at the end of On Thin Ice and it was worth the wait.

I loved Carter's sass and determination in his pursuit of Nate who has been his long-time much older crush and someone he didn't think he had an actual chance with. Underneath Carter's sass and confidence hides a young man who is following his father's plan for him and it isn't the one he wants for his future. His father is a self-righteous bully who has squashed Carter's own dreams and treats his being gay as something he should be ashamed of.

Nate, who we've previously kind of met because he is Beckett's uncle and an NHL legend who had an accident on the ice which ended his career. He's now at Northwood U as the new head coach, he's struggling with the loss of his career and trying to find a new purpose in his life.

I really enjoyed seeing Carter become more than just 'Nate's old friend's son' they were perfect for each other and the 19-year age-gap meant nothing once they realised how well they fit together. I love how good they were together and I really appreciated how Nate believed in Carter and encouraged him to follow his own dreams for his future. We all need someone who will be there for us no matter what and once Nate got past some of his hang-ups, he was that person for Carter.

It's sad to say goodbye to the guys from Northwood U, it's been a great series but I look forward to whatever Hayden Hall writes next.

This is a cute story about a brand new coach and one of his students.
They have an amazing romantic love throughout the book. There is a little bit of angst, but not much at the third act break-up. There is a 20+ year age difference.
There is not much spicy time at all. It was definitely more of a romance.

Why has all the books I’ve read lately been bad? All new releases but it’s not it.
Big Age gaps isn’t my thing, but I didn’t really mind it.

I liked this one believe it or not, the age gap was good (a little weird if we get technical) but well written, the tension was felt from the first moment with these two and honestly it was a pleasure to read it.

Nate being Carter's dad's friend (well, let's say old friend here) and former teammate, becomes a college hockey coach and it's the team where our Carter plays, which is the only thing he's been taught to do (his dad being a former player in the nhl) but our boy has other ambitions and this is where I liked it all, because even though Nate has known Carter since he was a kid, he knows what Carter's father is like, he encourages him to follow his dreams and if that's away from hockey then so be it, but there he will be with him along the way and oh my, what a way for them to finally be together.

While there is some drama already at the end that left me crying because I wasn't expecting it at all, this book is a quick read and I had a more than good time reading it.

Nate siendo el amigo (bueno, digamos viejo amigo aca) y ex compañero de equipo del papá de Carter, se vuelve entrenador de hockey universitario y es el equipo donde nuestro Carter juega, cosa que es lo único que le han inculcado hacer (siendo su padre un ex jugador nato de la liga) pero nuestro chico tiene otras ambiciones y aquí es donde todo me gusto, porque aun cuando Nate conoce a Carter desde chico, sabe como es el padre de este, lo alienta a seguir sus sueños y si eso es alejado del hockey pues que así sea, pero allí él estará con él en el camino y oh dios, qué camino para que por fin estuvieran juntos.

Si bien hay un drama ya al final que me dejo llorando porque no me lo esperaba para nada, este libro es una lectura rápida y me la pase mas que bien leyéndolo.
