She's been gone for five years, life hasn't been easy. He's avoided relationships and focused on the ranch. They'd been good together once, could it happen again?
There was wayyyy too much going on in this book. There were so many side plots and I kept getting lost. The main story was good, but if the author chose one or two side plots I think it would have been a better book.
I received this book as an ARC and read it start to finish in less than 12 hours. This book was a roller coaster of emotions and I could not put it down. This is the first book I have read by Bonnie Poirier and now I need to read more. I loved the characters of Fallon and Nash and learning about the trials they went through to find their way back to one another. If you love a good cowboy book with a little bit of suspense definitely check this one out!
Man this was an amazing read. I loved how it started and ended. This was truly such a great book. If you are looking for a book where the family main character gets out of a terrible relationship and finds so much better this is the book for you.
This book was everything! I absolutely devoured this within a day couldn’t get enough of Nash and Fallon. When we got a glimpse at the end of book one I couldn’t wait for their story and Bonnie didn’t disappoint! ❤️
I stayed up way too late again to finish this book. I have had 4 ARC books this week and all 4 were great and had me up way past my bedtime to finish!!
This is a rancher/cowboy romance with a second chance at love.
What happens when you are in love with your brothers best friend? You keep it a secret until you no longer want it to be a secret so you run away.
Things are good until they aren’t and you need to return home. Guess who is the first person to greet you at the front door?
This was different from my normal books as there was very little spice. However, I didn’t really miss it. The story its self kept me intrigued and interested.
I can’t wait to read about the other men and couples on the ranch in future books!!
Fallon is escaping a tough marriage and ran to the only place she would feel safe. She is headed to Flying Diamond 5 ranch. Her brother and his friends including Nash own three ranch. She has a 3 year old and reaches the ranch just in time to have her second child. Nash has done everything he can to forget Fallon but now that she is back and needs help, he wants to be the one she relies on.
My thoughts:
This is book 2 in the Flying Diamond 5 series and I have absolutely loved both. I can’t wait for the next book and other future releases.
Fallon’s character is so well written. She is strong and learning to be herself again. The fear of her ex is there but she slowly learns to lean on her family.
Nash and Fallon had strong, believable chemistry. They worked really well together. I loved them together and the way they accepted their new family.
Thank you @greyspromo and @bonniepoirier_author for the ARC
I have really enjoyed this series by Bonnie. I was excited to read Nash and Fallons story after getting a glimpse in Kipp and Nora’s story.
If you love a small town, found family, second chance romance where there is also a surprise child this is the book for you but I highly suggest reading the trigger warnings on this book.
I absolutely loved Nash and Fallon. This book starts off with Nash and Fallon’s history and what happened between these two and the events that happened while they are apart. Despite everything that Fallon had been through her ex-husband she was still so strong. Fallon didn’t back down when it came to her brother and Nash. Nash..oh this man. Nash isn’t perfect; he makes mistakes in his past that cause him and Fallon to drift apart and he takes full responsibility. This man shows Fallon and her girls how much he cares and loves them through his actions and that is everything.
What I loved in this book were the vulnerable moments that can happen to women after childbirth. I loved how Nash was so intuitive and observant with Fallon to help her in the ways she needs that only he can do for her. When Nash found everything out not once did he second guess his feelings with Fallon and her children. I love kids in stories especially a single parent story where we get to the main character not just fall in the love with the other but the child(ren) as well and Nash will have you instantly falling in love with him. His relationship with Josie was so wholesome and the way he just took over with the baby and helped without being asked was everything.
This book had a bit of suspense as well and I loved the family dynamics and how everyone came to help when it was needed. Now I am so excited for Jake and Tayla’s story!
This story is full of emotional moments and totally grabbed my attention. It’s the second book in a series and this was my first book by this author.
It can definitely be read as a standalone, but there was some missing knowledge about secondary characters Kipp & Nora (backstory about their son) that clearly had been shared/learned in the first book that are never cleared up or shared in this book. It’s pretty minor, but it comes up a couple of times and became frustrating to not know what was being discussed.
I enjoyed the relationship between Fallon and Nash. There is a significant amount of backstory to their romance that is just hinted at initially that becomes a little clearer as the story progresses. The storyline is a little like a skipping stone … we get scenes from a some important moments and then the story jumps forward a week or more.
This was an enjoyable and entertaining read. I’m curious about what happens between some of the secondary characters (Jake and Tayla), so I’ll be watching for the next book in the series.
I received a free ARC from the author and Grey’s PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.
I’m really enjoying this series and I was excited for this couple’s story. Their story is filled heartbreaking trials and heartwarming moments of forgiveness, acceptance, and understanding. The only reason I didn’t give a full five stars is because I felt that there were just a few moments where the story felt rushed. Almost as if someone edited out a part and I missed something. However, it didn’t make the story difficult to read as it was just a few moments.
Cute cowboy second chance romance. This is the story of Fallon and Nash.
There were some good and bad things about this story. Let's start with the good.
Fallon is a strong FMC who we meet working in another state from her family and doesn't really want to be found. Nash, however, hasn't stopped looking for her since she up and ran a few years prior. Nash works for her family ranch and best friends with her brother. Nash meets up with Fallon, and they have a spicy weekend together. But Nash goes and literally ruins it all by saying if she comes back home, he only wants to see her in secret again. Idiot. Of course, what happens a few weeks later.. Fallon realises she is pregnant. But her ex thinks it's his so he 'does the right thing' and they get married. A time jump later, and we found out she was pregnant with another baby, but her husband is cheating on her with a former friend and is a abuser and she needs to run. So she grabs her daughter josie and runs home.
I'm glad we didn't wait the entire book for the dad reveal of little josie it was pretty much right away. And we get an accepting guy, not someone to torture her for so long due to mutual decisions made years ago. Nash quickly accepts Josie and newborn baby Lottie as his own. We have some slight angst with Nash and Fallon, but I think that was done well. I hate books that don't address post pardam right, and within days or weeks, they are sleeping together. This one had a few months before anything happened. And Nash didn't want to do anything till she was officially divorced. I liked how there was also some light shown about post pardam depression. And how it was handled.
Right, the bad or not so great.
1. There were a lot of spelling issues throughout the book.
2. I didn't understand the need for Nash's mum and new husband it seemed like we finished the book and should have headed to epilogue, but a few chapters were thrown in about her. It could have been deleted. no one was wondering about her, haha.
3. The epilogue went on too long and time lines were messed up. The first epilogue was '1 year later'. The second was '5 months' post that.. so almost a year and a half later. During the 1 year later.. Fallon says, "Life had changed so much in the last few months." it had been a year??? During the second epilogue, an additional 5 months. Nora states the kids ages "Cooper is 5 and they have a 6 month old, Josie is 3 and lotte 18 months." Nora was already pregnant at the beginning of the story when we met her when Fallon was literally giving birth to Lotte. There is no way that baby can only be 6 months old 17 months after the story, which takes place over around 5-6 months before that epilogue time jumps. Josie should also be around 4 now.
Overall, there were things I wanted more of. Like interacting with the 5. Building friendships with Nora and Kristin. A bit more ranching. Fallon was offered a job as the accountant for the ranch, but there were zero scenes of her working. Maybe a date with Nash they kind of just jumped into a married relationship. Maybe some more around her ex. His parents never cared at all about their grand kids regardless of whether they were girls. They didn't try to intervene with her running off. How did Andrew get all the surveillance equipment and be able to set it up without anyone noticing. it was a little lacking.. since Andrew turned into a psycho haha Nash's tattoos were confusing. One minute, it's mentioned that randomly, he says he has Fallons name tattooed on his chest, but no one could make it out. Then, out of nowhere in the epilogue, his hands are tattooed?? Since when... any slight mentioned it was always just his chest.
Easy read. Smut is light, so it shows more relationship parenting side rather than constantly being smut for no reason.
Fallon Miller I hadn’t ever planned to return home, yet here I was, standing on the porch of my childhood home, with nothing to show for the last five years but a failed marriage, a toddler on my hip, and heavily pregnant.
One knock is all it takes to turn my world around. Nash Powers, my first love has haunted my dreams and now he’s real, right in front of me, wanting answers. I have secrets, but I’m not ready to reveal them.
Nash Powers She was the one that got away. I’ve pined for this woman for the last five years. I’d do anything for her to return home for good.
Two years ago after the hottest weekend of my life, I almost made her mine, but fear took hold. Could I be the man she needs? Now I’m ready to step up and claim my woman, but there’s secrets she’s keeping from me.
Sooner or later the truth always comes to light.
“Rancher's Pride” is the second instalment in the “Flying Diamond 5 Ranch Series”. Nash has been in love with his best friends sister for as long as he can remember. She was his past, his present and his future, then six years ago she ran away. Until in the middle of a blizzard, Fallon turns up on the doorstep heavily pregnant, beaten and with a toddler in tow. Is Josie Nash’s daughter?
When Kipp finds out that Nash is Josie’s father, he moves them in with him. They are all his world. Fallon gradually heals and is becoming stronger as stronger as the weeks go by. She is content. She is happy! Until her past comes after her… Fallon and Lotties lives are threatened and put at risk by her ex. The Five - Kipp, Nash, Griff, Ryder and Linc - leap into action to protect them. Surrounded by The Five and her family, they protect them.
The heat between Fallon and Nash is hot from the start 🔥🔥 Once I started reading, I could not put this book down! At times you will laugh, you will cry, get angry and frustrated - most of all, you will love the twists! This book will charm “the pants off you” and leave you going back for more 😊
“Dance with me?” I asked, and she nodded.
Standing, I pulled her close and rested my hand on her lower back, which made her press against me. I tried to ignore the blood rushing below my belt, but having her in my arms was the next thing to perfect.
We slow danced to whatever song was playing and I leaned back to look at the beautiful woman in my arms. Her piercing ice-blue eyes cut me deep as I leaned down and captured her mouth with mine.
Fallon melted into me and parted her lips as pressed my tongue into her mouth ….”
A thoroughly enjoyable read from one chapter to the next - at times you are metaphorical “on the edge of your chair” wondering what will happen next. You will fall in love with Nash and Fallon, hoping that everything with work out for them and they have a future together. Overall, I would highly recommend this book and you will not be disappointed 😊
This was a really good second chance romance, which is one of my absolute favorite tropes and I enjoyed reading it from start to finish. I also loved that it's not a super steamy romance. I feel like it was perfect the way it's written, that it doesn't need the extra spice to be a great story.
I loved Nash, he is so sweet with Fallon's daughters and he treats little Lottie, who isn't biologically his, like she's his daughter and the scene where Nash played his guitar and sang for Josie, Fallon's older daughter, to help her fall asleep was adorable! But my favorite character from Rancher's Pride is Fallon as I could relate to her fear of the dark, something I deal with myself and the scene where she's running to the barn in the middle of the night because she's scared was pretty funny too.
"I’ve never liked the pitch black that surrounds this place. My imagination has a tendency to get a little wild. Even the glow of the yard light wasn’t enough to stop the shadows from appearing around every corner. The moo of a cow from the corral made me jump, and I pressed my hand to my heart, trying to calm it. It was no use. I took off running to the barn. See, that’s what you get for trying to do a good deed, Fallon. You scare the shit out of yourself." {Chapter 41, Page 230}
Another thing I loved was the added romantic suspense element, I love reading romances that have a little something extra added to the story.
My other favorite scenes were the snowball fight scene in chapter 22 and when Nash and Fallon danced together at the Christmas dance.
My favorite quote from Rancher's Pride was this one; "I watched his lips as he spoke. He’d always had an uncanny ability to both get me excited and calm me."
I have enjoyed both books of Bonnie's Flying Diamond 5 Ranch series so far and look forward to reading the next book. 🙂
Just a quick note, this book deals with some heavier topics and subject matter so please be sure to check the trigger warnings before reading.
*I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Rancher's Pride is my first foray into Bonnie Poirier work and I was gracefully swept away into her story full of emotions, uncertainties and trust. Poirier's tone is gentle and caring as everyday life unfolds for our characters. Poirier beautifully builds tension and easily shows the chemistry that already exists between Nash and Fallon. This novel packs a punch on the emotional scale while handling topics like postpartum depression, secret paternity, and domestic violence with the care and knowledge it deserves. This second chance, secret child romance blossoms before the readers eyes and will easily keep engaged and rooting for this sole mate couple.
This novel begins by giving us a glance into the strength of Nash and Fallon's feels and then dives right into the meat and heart of the novel with a pregnant Fallon leaving her abusive husband with her daughter. When she arrives to safety back home the romance truly sparkles with deep feelings, revealed secrets and a hero who takes everything in stride. This rediscovery is a beautiful building blocks to new trust and hopes, and these two balance the other with such grace. I adored watching Nash fall in love with his daughters and become the support system all of his girls needed. I loved that his morals gave him and Fallon the opportunity to fall back in love and nurture their understanding of the other. Poirier softly builds the tension throughout giving the suspense a light and realistic touch amongst the every day nature of this love story.
Rancher's Pride was a delightful and romantic introduction to Bonnie Poirier and it has left me intrigued with the continuation of this series as well as further exploration of Poirier's work. This novel is sure to charm any reader who loves a strong hero that will do anything for his family and the respect he shows his partner.
Thank you so much to Grey's Promotions for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I absolutely loved this!! It had some of my favourite tropes, single parent, best friend’s sister… It even managed the secret baby trope in a way I found palatable. I usually hate the whole secret baby thing unless it’s for safety reasons but this one turned out okay.
Nash and Fallon were sweet but Nash and Josie?! Oh my lord they had my whole freaking heart from the very first cuddle. The way he stood up for all his girls was utterly adorable and precious.
I liked that we got so much family time in this book. The bond between all of them, blood and found family, was so strong and true, it gave me warm fuzzies to read. It was clear that this was a loving family that were so welcoming to anyone who needed a bit more love in their life.
The suspense was good too! Fallon maded some questionable choices at the beginning of it all but The Five had her back. I still don’t trust Violet or Desmond at all though and have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of them. We did get some answers on the mine issue but not enough to know what’s going on and who’s coming after them.
While I’m excited for the next book, I’m also super intrigued to know Elle and Parker. We met them towards the end of the book and learned Parker is deaf with a cochlear implant. I’m also deaf with a CI so I’m always looking for more rep! I loved that everyone just accepted that he was deaf and were super blase about being willing to learn ASL for him.
Overall this was a very sweet, cosy second chance, friends to lovers romance! I loved the setting of the ranch and small town, the family they’ve created is precious and supportive and I’m so excited for all the books still to come!
This second chance at love story is angsty, emotional and mesmerizing. Fallon and Nash’s story is one of loss, grief, not choosing to fight for their love and having to live with the consequences of their choices. Grief and confusion send Fallon running from the ranch, her family and the man she adores. It takes two years before Nash discovers her hiding place sets off to bring her home. A passionate weekend spent in each other’s arms does not lead to Fallon returning home with him, when Nash asserts that once again their relationship will be a secret from her family. He prioritizes his friendship with her brother and his job before her. That is something that Fallon decides she can’t live with and isn’t willing to fight him on.
It takes another three years before she returns home to her family and the man she can’t forget, with a toddler daughter in tow and about to give birth. Fallon and Nash are forced to deal not only with long held secrets, but also regrets, their feelings for each other and the reactions of those that love them both. Throw in her nasty ex who stalks her, postpartum depression, and suddenly living under one roof as a family of four, and the situation is rife with tumultuous feelings and confusion. Their families play an important part in their story, presenting them with problems to overcome and providing unconditional support. Fallon and Nash finally get their priorities straight…each other and their little family comes first before anyone or anything else. It was a hard lesson to learn.
I couldn’t help but love Fallon and Nash. I was a bit frustrated with their stubbornness and their choices, but they also drew out my empathy. Little Josie is a scene stealer…..so darn adorable. Nash melts my heart when he interacts with Josie and the baby, especially the singing and little heartfelt conversations with the girls. This book drew me in, made me feel so many emotions, and left an imprint my heart. I won’t hesitate to recommend this book.
Nash and Fallon are childhood friends turned lovers. Despite their mutual attraction, due to the circumstances at that time, Nash chooses to head back to their hometown without Fallon. Unknown to him, Fallon is pregnant with his child and she ends up marrying Andrew, her ex-boyfriend.
Three years later, Fallon is in a bad way and finally escapes Andrew to go home. She ends up staying with Nash and it doesn’t take long for them to rekindle their romance.
I was pleasantly surprised to see postpartum depression weaved into the plot as this is not given sufficient airtime in my opinion. In the early days of motherhood, mothers can feel lost no matter how much they love their babies. The depth of the depression may differ depending on the individual but all mothers need support and all the love possible to help them through!
When Fallon’s ex starts to stalk her, Nash goes into full protective mode. But is it too late for Nash to be the man, husband and father that he needed to be, three years ago?
All in all, I enjoyed reading this as I love reading books with large families (which may or may not be blood-related!) and cowboy romances too!
There is just one part which I couldn’t understand or accept. Nash should have never abandoned her three years ago after that weekend of fun. I could not understand fully his rationale especially since he should have understood how traumatic abandonment is.
Fallon shows up on her family ranch in labour, after fleeing an abusive ex, and who’s there to catch he (literally) just her old flame Nash is also the happen to unknowingly be the baby daddy of her two-year-old. 😬 but this book didn’t shy away from hard topic and handles postnatal depression with care, and Fallon’s emotional journey felt honest and real.
The tension between Fallon and Nash was intense, clearly still in love with each other, whilst also having to navigate through all much hurt and betrayal they both felt, was emotional to say the least. All at the same time having the looming threat of her ex hanging over them, honestly I couldn’t get through the pages fast enough.
If the story had ended with the ex carted off in cuffs and Fallon and Nash finally getting their happy ending, I would’ve slapped 5 stars on this and called it a day.
But alas… it kept going.
Cue Nash’s mum popping just to stir the pot, followed by a time jump to a proposal, then a wedding (which we don’t even get to read), and another time jump to the epilogue. It felt like a rushed highlight reel.
By the end, my head was spinning. 😵💫 It was like the book tried to cram in too many storylines, veering too far from what made the beginning so enjoyable, and in the end did a disservice to what was such an emotionally strong story.
I finished this book in one go. I totally fell inlove with Nash and Fallon.
Fallon's family owns an amazing ranch, but after her father died she couldn't live there and left. And maybe her brothers best friend, Nash also had something to do with it.
Now she's coming home with her little girl and she's in labour. Coming face to face with the love of her life was not what she had planned.
Nash didn't have a good childhood. And then his mother left and it was just him and his dad. And his dad use to drink. It's only now that they are restoring their relationship. Having Fallon home is a good thing or maybe its not. Especially when he finds out Fallons secret...
This story had so much emotion in it. Nash and Fallon both had trust issue. Fallon didn't trust that Nash wanted her and that he would fight for them. And Nash didn't know if he could trust that Fallon didn't run away again.
Loved the story, loved the characters and the emotions that Fallon had after she had her baby, broke my heart a bit. But I enjoyed it from start to finish💖☺️
Nash and Fallon, childhood friends turned lovers. Despite their mutual attraction, Fallon has to get out of their hometown. Nash finds her after searching for her and comes up to meet with her for the weekend. Not willing to jeopardize the relationship he has with Fallon’s brother, he can’t give her what she wants, him and a vocal/visual relationship so he goes back home without her. A surprise several months later, Fallon is pregnant with Nash’s child and she ends up marrying Andrew, her ex-boyfriend.
Years later, Fallon finds herself in a physically abusive relationship with her husband and gets the chance to finally leave but she has nowhere to go but back home. Fallon didn’t think she would find herself back home with a toddler and a baby on the way but she has nothing else.
Everyone sees it, everyone but Nash! His fears are keeping him from having the love of a lifetime that he wants so desperately with Fallon. Can he find a way to battle his demons and fears to be the man that he wants to be, not only for Fallon but for his daughters as well?
I absolutely love this series and Bonnie does an incredible job with these characters!
If you had a second chance with the one that got away, would you take it? Does that answer change if the one that got away was your brother's best friend?
Possible Triggers - DV/IPV, cheating, post-partum depression, stalking
**********************************
Rancher's Pride picks up where Rancher's Edge ends off - there is a bit of important overlap between them so I would recommend you read Edge first, as the backstory and last few chapters lead straight into the start of Pride. I enjoyed Pride more than I did Edge, mainly because I enjoyed the character's arcs - it felt more natural in Pride than Edge.
In Pride, we are reintroduced to Fallon and Nash - Fallon is Kipp's sister who has been gone from home from several years, while Nash is Kipp's best friend who is also one of his business partners. These two have chemistry that dates back to their teenage years and they have circled each other for a long time. When Fallon's dad passes away suddenly, she leaves the ranch and Nash behind.
Through a series of events, Fallon starts working for and eventually marries into a ranching family several states away. After confirming that her husband is a complete and utter douchebag, she escapes back home and lands on Kipp's doorstep, which happens to be Nash's as well.
I loved the banter and chemistry between Fallon and Nash - it's so real and typical of adults who have grown up together and gone through a lot of emotional maturing side by side. Nash knows what he wants but Fallon is so worried about the opinions and perception of her family/community. The story really centres around how they work through their feelings for each other and decide if they can be together.
Bonnie Poirier's stories are well written and she gives us great peeks into the characters mindset. There are twists and turns and unexpected roadblocks along the way, but it always serves to strengthen the character in the end.
Note: I was provided an ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review.
I devoured this book! I have been not so patiently waiting for Nash and Fallon's story since I read the epilogue in Ranchers Edge, and it did not disappoint! It had a touch of suspense, which I really enjoyed!
Fallon is Nash's best friends little sister and has known her her entire life. As they got older, they began to develop feelings for each other, but when Fallon's father passed away, she ran away. Nash finds her, but because of his friendship with her brother and ties to the ranch, he can't put her first and wants to have the relationship in secret. Fallon doesn't like that and is gone for years, but one winter night, she comes back home with more secrets than she can carry alone. Nash is there, and this time, he is putting her first!
This was such a heartfelt, second chance romance. Fallon had a lot to overcome, and I loved her journey to get to a place where she felt safe. Nash was that safe place for her, and in his arms was like coming home. Nash was amazing! I loved how he took to Fallon's girls! Nash is this tough rancher, so it was so nice to see him be so vulnerable! Fallon and Nash complimented each other so well, and I loved the ease in which their relationship progressed! I loved the banter and the chemistry between Nash and Fallon. This had great found family and band of brother vibes! I really, really enjoyed this one so much!
Please check trigger warnings
Thank you, Bonnie and Grey's promotions, for this ARC!
Nash was the cowboy rancher I needed in my life and Bonnie Poitier delivered. Brother's best friend is one of my favorite tropes because I love to see how it plays out and the effect it has on relationships. Add in the one that got away, and I'm in it until the end.
When Fallon returns to town after years away, she blows in with secrets on her back that just may end up causing a little trouble. I love the suspense weaved through Nash and Fallon's second chance at love. Nash has pined for this woman for 5 years, so when she returns to town he's determined to finally make her his.
Rancher's Pride will have you falling in love with Nash and Fallon while they fall in love with each other all over again. Their story was charming and suspenseful and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series...and maybe some questions will be answered...
Flying Diamond 5 Ranch is the place to be if you love a great cowboy/western romance with a fantastic group of family and friends that have each others back no matter what.
4.5 Stars This is the second book in the series. Another great addition to the series that I couldn't put down. I read it in a day. Sometimes timing is everything. Nash and Fallon are inevitable, but life kept putting up hurdles. Now five years later they may just get their shot at forever. It's not going to be easy when Fallon returns to the ranch with one little girl and another on the way. A really powerful emotional book. I could feel all the emotions just pouring off these characters. This book has little of everything. It has heat, heart, humor, and suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. Fallon's ex is bad news and karma needs to come. Little Josie just stole my heart. She is just so adorable. The scenes with her and Nash just melted my heart. Watching these two finally have a shot warmed my heart. This close knit group of friends and family will wiggle right into your heart. I'm already looking forward to more from this series!!
Wow… Nash Powers and Fallon Miller. What. A. Story. This series is an absolute 10 out of 10 for me so far! Fallon was the one who got away—and truthfully, she never stopped loving Nash. Their worlds collide again in a heartbreaking way, but what unfolds is something unexpectedly beautiful.
The Fab 5 (as I love to call them) come together once more, fighting for the family they’ve created through love, loyalty, and resilience. Secrets come to light—some heartwarming, some jaw-dropping—but each one adds depth to the journey.
If you loved Kipp and Nora’s story, this one will steal your heart all over again. Honestly, as I write this, I’ve already devoured the next book in the series and… oh my goodness, what a ride!
You truly can’t go wrong with this series. The writing is phenomenal, the pacing flows perfectly, and each story blends romance, adventure, and a touch of heartbreak in the best possible way.
I absolutely devoured this book in one day. It instantly hooks you from the very beginning and does not let you go. This is an older brother’s bestfriend, second chance, small town cowboy romance. I have been in a siblings bestfriend trope era and this hit everything. Fallon was drowning in grief after the passing of her father, so she leaves her family ranch without a word. But returns after 5 years with a 2 year old, in labor and has bruises on her face and a busted lip. Nash helps during the delivery and stays with her after. As things begin to come to light, Nash and Fallon work on their relationship, you can’t help but fall with them. It’s not an easy road for them but with the help of family they make it through the bumps that get in their way towards their HEA. I truly and absolutely loved their book. It was everything and more. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
I loved how Nash accepted the father role instantly, without question that man took his blood daughter and fallons other daughter and said they were both his. That was beautiful. The representation of postpartum depression was perfect, I love seeing such a taboo mental illness be written about and for that I thank the author.
A few things confused me in this book, why was fallon like 'cum in me I don't care if I fall pregnant.' To 'please I don't want more kids.'
Never coming home after she fell pregnant in the first place because she was 'scared' but the crazy ex never hit her until she married him so there was no fear between them before that.
The so called best friend who slept with her ex husband but in the first few chapters she didn't really have any friends because she could never really connect with anyone at the new ranch.
There was just a few things that didn't make sense, however a cute little book.
Every once in a while, I think to myself, “I don’t know if I like second-chance romance,” and then I read something like Rancher’s Pride and prove myself wrong. I love that the author really lives on a ranch, and the experiences she writes about come from firsthand experience.
I love a feisty FMC, and Fallon fits the bill. Loved grumpy big brother Kip learning how far back Nash and Fallon’s relationship went. I liked how the subject of PPD was handled in this book. That’s not something I see represented a whole lot in romance books.
I loved seeing Nash and his dad fix their relationship. Nash jumped into the role of dad so easily. Nash is a rugged rancher, but he’s not afraid to cry, and I appreciate that vulnerability in a MMC. I’m such a sucker for an “it’s always been you” romance. Nash is such an upstanding guy, and how can you not love that?
