After a vacation in the picturesque backdrop of Mexico, amidst the vibrant colors of its culture and the soothing rhythm of waves, two souls find themselves unexpectedly entwined in a tale of love, loss, and redemption.
Josiah “J-Mac” Mackenzie, is a man who has sworn off love after experiencing the ultimate betrayal. His trust shattered by his ex-fiancée's infidelity with his twin brother, he has resigned himself to a life of solitude, convinced that relationships only lead to heartache. But fate has other plans when he encounters Kahlia Mitchell, a woman still navigating turbulent waters of grief after losing her husband who just so happened to be her high school sweetheart.
Kahlia, haunted by memories of her late husband, returns to Mexico to fulfill a promise made to him – to scatter his ashes in the place they once shared cherished moments. Little does she know that this journey will lead her to cross paths with Josiah, a man whose mere presence ignites a spark within her she thought long extinguished.
As they embark on a whirlwind romance, Josiah and Kahlia discover a deep connection that transcends their past traumas, they have soul ties beyond what they can comprehend. But their newfound happiness is threatened by the shadows of their former lives, lurking in the corners of their hearts. Can they overcome the ghosts of their pasts and embrace the love that beckons them towards a future together? Or will the weight of their burdens prove too heavy to bear, tearing them apart just as they begin to grasp the possibility of forever?
I gotta keep it real. I almost didn't finish this read. I'm reading on page about the spark between Josiah and Kali. However, I couldn't feel their connection. It wasn't until they began to have issues in their relationship that I could feel the vibe between them. Both Josiah and Kali had gone through devastating trauma, and when they found something that felt good to them, they moved full speed ahead. Not allowing themselves time and space to deal with the residual damage of their pasts.
Although Kali could be petty and mean as hell when she wanted to be, she stood by Josiah's side as he dealt with his family issues. Josiah holding onto that anger almost cost him his relationship. I'm glad that he was forced to confront it head on, so that he could get to his forever.
This was a great demonstration of a soul tie! I loved how quickly Josiah and Kahlia came together, it was really the stars aligning and placing them in the same place. However, I would say the miscommunication towards the end almost ruined the story for me.. but they overcame that issue in the end.
Kahlia and Josiah's romance left me feeling conflicted because I really did like the fated lovers aspect of this book, but I feel like I didn't really like Kahlia. She was so nasty and mean whenever she got called out and never really seemed to apologize for it. I feel like she and Josiah recognized that they both had deep-rooted issues, but they never truly dealt with them. In my opinion, they both needed to be sitting on someone's couch before they could come together. Also, the way the situation was handled with Josiah's parents was nonsensical. They could have been honest with him and told him what was going on instead of omitting the truth and instead focusing on making him feel bad about a situation where he was the victim.
What Alicia Keyes say: Have that wreckless love, that crazy love That off the wall, won't stop 'til I get enough kind of love I need that love So, baby, let's go Have that wreckless love, that crazy love That I don't really care, we can have it anywhere kind of love That wreckless love
That’s what it was between Josiah and Kali! Drawn to one another from first sight like a moth to flame, connection was instant, attraction was combustible and the segs was of the charts! Two people who were meant to be in this lifetime and the next - it was spiritual. It was also scary and nerve wracking and revealing, but also exhilarating and beautiful. Moving at a fast pace, got everyone saying slow down, but once the car got to moving it was all gas no breaks!
They had some deep baggage holding their past loves that needed to be unpacked and dealt with. They needed to let it go or that baggage would always be carried around with them leaving no space for the new baggage they purchased together. The baggage was heavy and you could do nothing but understand why the hurt and pain was so deep for each of them. But, when you love someone there ain’t nothing you’re not willing to do to keep it.
Amazing writing, characters, character development and story! Excellent read!
This book made my soul happy. I've been waiting on a book from Genesis since Edgewood and my patience paid off cause she never disappoint. They betrayal that Josiah endured at the hands of not only his fiance but his twin brother. His A1/Day1. So I don't blame him for not going back to his hometown. Then his dad saying it's time to let it go wasn't helping. It was like everyone knew Joshua was wrong but wanted Josiah to get over it because it had been four years. I'm glad he found his true soulmate. Kali was his queen and even tho she had a lil baggage on her back also, they were made for each other. The support and devotion the showed to each other was unmatched. I like that they chose to work together to get their love back on track instead of losing each other over a heated argument. This book was truly amazing and I highly recommend it.💜💜
I gotta say I’m loving the cover to this book. It’s what originally compelled me to read it. Having said that I thought the overall book was a good read. However, there were some minors I had.
This love story follows Josiah and Kali who have both experienced a deep level of pain although different. In a serendipitous exchange these two meet in Mexico and bam Cupid hits its target. I really liked the play on past life’s. So here is where my minor wondering come into play. Joshua actions did not really align with his last convo with Josiah. He kept saying he was sorry for sleeping with his brothers girl but when they saw each other at that disastrous dinner it looked like he was poking the bear. Second the author doesn’t give clarity if the brothers made up and what became of the mother.
this was a great concept and i ok story. josiah always want this his way and kali doesn’t know how to take accountability. i also do like the fact the went back to the same place in mexico that was a staple for her and her exhusband where she spread his ashes for their anniversary, they should have another place thats just for them even though they met there
This was a cute story. I enjoyed reading about how the characters found each other during a period in their life where they were going through a tough time. I enjoyed the relationship development between the two especially with the FMC and how she slowly got over her husband who she sadly lost. I also enjoyed the family relationship and the teacher student relationship. I wish there was a little bit more in that aspect but overall this was a nice palette cleanser. I would recommend.
I loved everything about this book!!! They had some personal emotions to get over from past hurt, but they did! Paris got on my nerves trying to control how K Mac lived her life. I hope that she gets a story next.
I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. The author shows how 2 lovers overcome major obstacles in their past lives in order to be together and share their new love journey together. I loved every moment of this book!
Good read! Joshua had nerve. He chose his ho and need to keep it moving. Josiah is right to never trust him or hold him close again. Kali and Josiah are kismet💜
Wow!! What a betrayal! Josiah's brother and ex fiance did him dirty. This was an excellent read, and I'm happy him and Kahlia found true love in one another.
