Any excuse to bring my favorite dice with me is valid! 🎲😎 (One of my d20s had to go to dice jail though 👮♀️)
The Pros:
The game does a good job at not feeling linear, with many choices and optional content. 🐈⬛
The combat is polished. I ended the boss fight with only 2hp!❤️
Given it’s on kindle, the navigation mechanics are pretty good. 🎮
The Cons:
Many of the items had zero functionality. I hope they become relevant in future games, but I can’t factor that into the review at this point. 🎒
The dialogue and artwork were decent, but some of it felt AI-ish at times. Specifically the labyrinth art, and the sentence that says “a gentle promise of rain” (no one speaks like that). It’s a cohesive story, but some of the sentences felt a bit forced. 🤖
The encounters were a bit sparse, if not the amount of mobs too. For me I believe there were maybe 4 encounters tops, including the boss fight. 🐉
Overall it’s a great change of pace for kindle users and I’d recommend it to pass the time. 🎲
A good, interesting story. As a forever DM, it is nice to get a small feeling of playing DND. My character died, and that was satisfying since I haven’t had a character die in a long time.
The dice were on my side, so the ending has been a bit underwhelming. But great story! And I've managed to finish it unscathed... I've had a blast and I can only hope for more books like this 🤩
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I have no doubt that my score is skewed by the fact that this is allowing me, a forever DM, to play a character. But I don't care. I enjoyed myself, the story was interesting and engaging and took me a couple sessions to finish it, which I find very satisfying. I think if you were so inclined, you could likely finish this in a single sitting. Not my choice though.
