A good overview and introduction to issues related to performance management. Where as most popular business books are full of anecdotes and assumptions that because a particular practice works for Company XYZ it will work in all contexts, this was a textbook: it cited research studies (although many of the citations were popular press articles) and provided frameworks and checklists.
I had never delved into performance management before, but I feel a good deal more equipped to create a system now than I was before reading this book.
