The Wolf was exactly what I wanted this week. It was dark and taboo and filled with everything I love about darker Omegaverse. Alphas in this world have an implant to keep them at bay but one night their true nature is allowed to run free. Adam has coveted his step-sister since the moment he laid eyes on her and he takes full advantage.
Marked and claimed, Adam slips into Jocelyn's mind taunting and teasing her until he finally reveals who he really is. Her mind initially rebels but her heart and body are trying to prove otherwise. Her Omega nature yearns and craves the dominance and seduction that Adam gives freely.
This story was just so hot and so fun to read. The telepathy between the two of them added such a passionate layer to their relationship development. I loved the enemies-to-lovers vibe that was happening and I loved that Adam apologized for nothing and took what he wanted. I loved that Jocelyn was just so perfect for him and took everything he offered.
Despite Jocelyn not being open to the idea of being claimed at first, she begins to change and learn to accept her true wants and needs. I just loved them!!!
If you like dark taboo Omegaverse with somnophilia, stalking, dubcon and a sexy HEA, you have to pick this book up!!

terrific Alpha/Omega Romance
Oh I really enjoyed this book, it is very smutty and I really enjoyed the Story Line. I look forward to reading more by this writer.

Unfortunately, I didn't know about the anthology. It was only mentioned at the end. So, I read the encounter on the Annual Game Night afterwards. Which did irk me a bit, because I like to read my books chronically.
Otherwise, the story hit a nerve. Of course, knowing this is Darkverse, I didn't expect a fluffy read. And it wasn't. There were so many contents in it, that were truly dark and depraved. And a lot of taboos.
Still, it was spicy. And I really enjoyed reading it. Though, I don't read much Darkverse anymore. The thing is, the first Omegaverse stories were all Darkverse first. So, while I like to read it, I like a certain variety in my reading. Thus, I got bored about it. And another thing is, I read mostly RH than M/F. Tho, Omegaverse is my favorite genre, so I read it in every constellation. But these days, I like the newer Omegaverse more. Like Sweetverse and the newer Contemporary OVs, which sometimes hold an edge to both parts. Not quite light and dark edges. Going through trauma and so on.
But generally, I read what I'm in the mood for. And Darkverse has many layers, which another reason why I don't read it that often.
The thing is, I may not have any true triggers, but I still like to read a certain kind of Darkverse books.
And I can't determine from the blurb alone or from the get go, if it's something I like to read or if it's “too dark”. Meaning, I don't like to read stories, where the FMC is severely hurt —mostly physically or cruelly. For example, mutilation.
But I don't mind dubcon, breeding kink, possessive, obsessive guys with stalkerish tendencies as long as nothing is done to “harm” the FMC in a bad and hateful way. I know Darkverse always does some harm. That's why it isn't for the light of heart.
But I'm not into Bully-Darkverse books. Because there is typically an unnecessary, brutal note, that I can't get behind. Their drive is to hurt the FMC in a spiteful way. Typically, for things, that are beyond any responsibility of the FMC or because of a perceived slight. Like, for a thing, she didn't even do or doesn't know about. Or realize it that way. For example, her father did something to the family of the bully, and to revenge it, he takes the daughter. And so on.
So, she gets broken for that. And even though she gets a HEA in the end. It doesn't make the bad stuff go away. You know what I mean? Frequently the men not even really apologize for what they do.
But that wasn't the case here. He was obsessed with her and that was his drive. And she secretly loved that. So, the mentioned things are my favorite themes with Darkverse. And that was, what made me read this story in the first place.
The only other complaint I had, was with the FMC. Don't get me wrong. I did like her. But there are certain traits that bother me. Like, when you deny yourself things, just because of expectations and misplaced pride. And she does that constantly. I get it, the story should have some drama and conflict in that regard. It's in our nature to rebel, if it's something we don't want. But with her, it was something she wanted, but “shouldn't” want. So, she simply fights, because she believes she has to. Not truly because she wants too. And it gets old quite fast.
And I find that nonsensical. As long as you don't hurt anyone with that, there is no reason why you should deny yourself. I would understand it, if it's something that isn't allowed to want or would hurt other people. That's a different kind of conflict.
But when it's only between two people, who are secretly in accordance and really want it? I don't see a good reason to deny it. Sure, she has some sort of restriction. But again, it's the social aspect that is her feeble reasoning. Like, what will their parents think? Society? But still, she wants it.
And that is only underpinned by their chemistry and how they came together. It was even noticeable with the prologue to the story. So, all her whining and resistance didn't really make sense to me. Especially not that long.
But again, it was still captivating to read and a vivid experience with the emotions and details. I will read the second book, too. I already have read the prologue from that story either.

Wolf has to be my favorite book by Vivian Murdoch to date. This book was exciting, very spicy, and a little taboo. Oh, who are we kidding if you have read Vivian Murdoch before, it's a lot of taboo, and I loved every page of it. I read this book in one night; I couldn't put it down. I love the dark, contemporary omegaverse romance she is writing. The drama, action, spiciness, and taboo topics were deliciously dark and page-turning. I thought the characters were well-written, complex, and had chemistry. The storyline was original and checked off all the things I enjoy in a book. This book does have a KW at the beginning. Please read that before diving into the world Vivian Murdoch has created. I don't know how Vivian Murdoch does it, but what she creates is captivating, gritty, and vivid with detail.
Jocelyn was not a meek Omaga. I thought she was a free-spirit and loyal to her family. Adam was a lot stalkerish, a lot possessive, and a total ALPHA. I loved their interactions from the mind's link to other things. I loved both the character's determination to get what they wanted. I especially loved the ah-ha moment I got in this book. Their chemistry and spice was a powder keg waiting to explode.
I don't know how Vivian Murdoch does it, but what she creates is captivating, gritty, and vivid with detail. I am totally rereading this book this weekend.

It was an original-style omegaverse. I am a part of the original omegaverse fandom. When the omegaverse first came out it was Zoey Ellis, Addison Cain, then Lizzy Bequin, D.E. Chapman, Nora Ash, Milana Jacks. It was Dark, depraved, and primal. Now it has become more of a mainstream romance, some even light romances with a afterthought twist in biology.
This novel was a flashback to what the genre used to be. Dark heros with depraved and filthy desires paired with feisty but submissive heroines. They had world building, a problem that needed to be solved, and animalistic growls, snarls, and barks.
Before the genre evolved to what it is now, people would accidentally pick up an omegaverse book and cry out in horror at the behaviors and words written. It didn't take long, about couple years, and now this book is scandalous. But what I'm trying to say is omegaverse was supposed to be scandalous and Darker than a black hole. So I- I LOVED this novel❣️
But it would only right to say "This book is not for everyone, know what type of Pandora box your opening."---Starr

Hot Damn- Stepbrother Dark Romance
Wow...this story is intense and so incredibly entertaining that you will thoroughly enjoy every second of this dark and sexy romance.
This world is made up of alphas, betas, and omegas. Each group knows their place and one can hope that an Alpha will choose them and give them an amazing life. The alphas are chipped which keeps them from losing control however for 1 night they get to reek mayhem and debauchery without consequence. Adam knows exactly what he wants and needs for his one night and he won't stop until she is his!!
Jocelyn has been claimed by an alpha but she doesn't know who he is but her body and mind can't forget him and she's aching to see him again. But when she learns that the alpha who claimed her is her stepbrother Adam she doesn't know what to think. He's hot and intense but this is wrong and she doesn't know how to turn off her feelings for him.
Adam is ready to claim her and he doesn't care what anyone thinks. She is his and no one will take her from him. Their story is intense and very sensual! Happy Reading!!

At first the book was confusing because the game night takes place in another piece that hasn't been released yet. Once I was aware of this it helped to clarify a few things up.
Once you get past that part the story is good. There's a lot of push and pull at first between Adam and Jocelyn. Although she didn't know it was him right away. The games he plays with her continue until she decides to go to visit a cousin and things turn dicey.
Watch your triggers although this isn't bad. Overall the good was an easy read and it would have been interesting to have read the first part prior.

I absolutely loved this book and had the pleasure of being an arc reader for The Wolf. Vivian promised the spice and absolutely brought it.. if you're looking for something tame this is not the book for you so you should probably turn back now!!!
There's absolutely nothing I love more than when an Alpha takes what is his ;) I can't wait to read the hidden story leading up to this book in the Sold antho.
I definitely was left with a few questions that I know the antho piece (Canis) will answer for me. 🥵

This gives the purge mixed with dark omegaverse - except it is MF, there is no pack. If you are triggered easily I highly recommend you pass on this as this is very dark stalker, somno, forced mating, and step brother troped. If this makes you clutch your pearls, then I say stay away. The storyline was interesting, and kept me interested with the premise of how this world treats their alphas, then mix in the purge vibe. The reasons I 3 star rated it because I thought there would be more spice, and the FMC was too whiny for me, I found myself skimming past her a lot.

This book is definitely something else. I really enjoyed it. Vivian is amazing at writing omegaverse especially in a time where the government is in control of things around omegas and alphas. Here the alpha in question is the omegas stepbrother. The FMC has signed up for an activity to help her family with money and her stepbrother takes advantage of it and the ‘game’ that the government implemented. When she realizes she is in denial and trying to find away around what her stepbrother did. He is determined to get her to see what he knows and may but her at risk. Definitely is a must read.

What do you do when everything you think you know is wrong???? Jocelyn thinks she knows what she wants in life: a nice beta male to marry who will curb her desires. Hah!!! No, definitely not!!! Enter her hot as hell Alpha stepbrother Adam 🔥🔥🔥🔥 He knows what he wants and he uses Game Night to take it!!!! I love a good step brother book and this hit all the spots plus what $talker wouldn’t love to be inside their prey’s thoughts!!!! So excited for the Game Night Anthology to release!!!

Definitely a Ride
I will admit that this isn’t my usual read when it comes to an Omegaverse, but after being gifted a copy I thought “why not?” This book didn’t disappoint (except in the choice for the name “Adam” as the Alpha…I kid…). It truly was a journey for both these characters who were driven, at first, by biology and then succumbed to something deeper. Was it dark? Yes, but the darkness matched the story. It wasn’t gratuitous. Overall, it was a great read!

I loved everything about Vivian Murdoch's omegaverse. It was everything I wanted and hoped for, even thogh it seems to be set in a more futuristic world,and Alphas r forced to have an implant to limit their nature. There is still plenty of spice and some taboo elements.

Brilliant omegaverse book
Loved this dark romance read so much!! Based in an omegaverse right and wrong are grey and alphaholes take what they want forcing circumstances to go their way especially when crossing an opportunity they cannot turn down and this book is the epitome of this with the added taboo of steps mixed in. Well written and looking forward to reading more.

I always enjoy the stepbrother trope and this was no different! The drugging and doing stuff to her while she was sleeping meh i think I would have enjoyed it more if she wanted it and was awake. I do think they are cute together though!

Damn. Damn ….read the trigger warnings, then dive in because it won’t let you go.
This was amazing, the lengths he went to and the sheer mental breakdown…it isn’t for everyone. But, if you are even curious, Adam and Jocelyn’s twisted tales will own a piece of your mind for a very long time.

I liked this book, I just wish there were more chapters of them together physically and not talking to each other through their bond... we only got to see them together together for the last few chapters...that killed it for me but great book overall
I liked this book, I just wish there were more chapters of them together physically and not talking to each other through their bond... we only got to see them together together for the last few chapters...that killed it for me but great book overall

The dynamics was weird to me. I've read books where the father was the mother's servant and the kid still showed his father respect and their dynamics and relationship is better than what I just read. What goes on with the parents is, quite frankly, none of the kid's business. It shouldn't feature in how the kid interacts with either parent. I mean, specifically in this book because there are times when it is impossible to do that.
Also, WTF is nest?😭😭 I did NOT just read the vagina/pussy being described as NEST.😩 Ain't no way! I've seen some subpar descriptions in my 15+ years of reading (I especially hate the word cunt but that's beside the point) but this has to be the worst. Nest?😭 Nest😂 I couldn't stop envisioning a bird's nest and somewhere dusty with cobwebs. Nest!🤦♀️

This is a dark omegaverse story. It was pretty good. I’m interested to see more of this universe in future books.

I started reading this story from "SOLD" and fell in Love with the characters, so I just had to read the last part of the story 😊. Sometimes it doesn't matter Who you fall in Love with, you just know that they are the right person 😉. Thanks so much Vivian, I've read quite a few of your stories and I truly wish that there was more of this series, but I guarantee I'll keep reading 🤓.
