Dare to Stand Alone - Daniel: Daniel simply explained: Read and Enjoy the Book of Daniel

Rate this book

Stuart Olyott, in his lively yet thorough style, shows that the prophecy of Daniel is basically an easy book to understand. His aim is to excite the reader to read Daniel for himself.

The book of Daniel is full of practical help – especially for believers who find themselves standing alone in the classroom or at work, or among their family and friends. Daniel tells us how to remain true to God in a hostile environment, and shows us how to live for Him when everything is against us. Daniel dared to stand alone. So can we.

The Welwyn Commentary Series is the Bible simply explained. This popular well established series provides clear and concise insight into the Scriptures from respected authors, many of whom are pastors and Bible teachers. The series is ideal for personal study, Bible class and sermon preparation and is highly recommended.

Not brilliant exegesis for the first nine chapters but a helpful series of reflections nonetheless. His writing on the final prophecy of Daniel was brilliant, up until the bit on the antichrist, where his lack of biblical theology let him down. But a good initial guide to the book of Daniel, especially with regular reminders of that key message that the King of Kings is the one who is ultimately sovereign.

The book of Daniel is one of the most fascinating (and confusing) books in the entire Bible. This commentary does an excellent job expounding the passages and also applying it to Christians in today's modern world.

The author divides the book into fifteen chapters and carefully expounds difficult passages in the second half of Daniel by using clearer passages and historical fulfilment, including some sections as pointing forward to the 2nd coming of Jesus.

I found this book easily written for the average churchgoer but would also make a great gift or study for teenagers/college-age as well.

The first six chapter of Daniel are well known- standard sunday school stuff. The final six are...well... difficult! Stuart Olyott does a great job in explaining them all. There are plenty of practical applications in the early chapters, while the rest of the book is both thorough and accessible. One of the best books on Daniel you're luikely to find.

Enlightening

Daniel has always been difficult for me to understand but Stuart Olyott has opened up the scriptures to me in a new and exciting light. His explanation are easy to understand and the historical background showing the accuracy of the Bible is very interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book along side reading Daniel.

Very helpful especially with the visions at the end of the book. Extremely encouraging to read how much has already come true. How great is our God!

Practical and solid. This commentary lacks the technical details of other commentaries, but if you are looking for something to expound and apply the book of Daniel, this is a great little commentary. I recommend anything by Olyott.

The commentary is simple and practical. The author demonstrates enough integrity to present his ideas and not shovel them down your throat, in case you disagree with him.
