Not gonna lie, Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course CD for Lesson Book: Level 1 made me a little uncomfortable, and I think that's why it stuck. Lethco, Amanda Vick doesn't let the reader off easy, and the chapter where the main character stays silent while something awful happens in front of her is the kind of thing you replay in your head for days. A few secondary characters feel like props. For readers who want a book that pokes at them. Not for anyone looking to unwind.

Look, I came to Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course CD for Lesson Book for the big ideas and stayed for the little stories. Amanda Vick Lethco uses small, human moments to make huge arguments feel real. A few examples are stretched thin. Good for people who like theory with a pulse, skip if you want only hard numbers.
