It was okay i listen via audiobook and it was AI narration which was very disappointing. It just would pause when there shouldn't be a pause and put inflection in the wrong places.
The book is about a woman that finds out she is a witch after her dad dies. She up and moves to this island full of witches she was told to avoid and on day one there is a murder the first murder ever on the island.
She goes about trying to solve the murder while trying to figure out what her powers are at the same time.
It had the possibility to be cute but the narration just ruined it.

This was cute cozy mystery. I was enjoying the main character's (Cossi) arc and exploration throughout the book. The plot was consistent with no huge twists. It was a mystery after all.
I drop a half point for the ending. IMO it fell flat.

I received this book for preview and theses are my thought. This is an interesting premise where a girl finds out she is a witch, after her father dies, and now as an orphan she has gone to a magical island to learn her talents. There is a murder and she bull dozes her way into the investigation. This new witch is slowly learning that she needs to take stock of her new position in this world of witches, listen and not act so presumptively to every thought that comes into her head. I think young adults would love this book.

The cover does not depict the story
I expected something different because of the cover. The book could have used an editor to reduce the characters running in circles. It seemed like never enough information and left large gaps regarding Cossi’s parents. We never discovered exactly what her mother did, other than a spell going wrong. We never heard the reason the killer did what he did. I’m giving this book a 3* and that’s being generous.

The storyline kept my interest. A witch learning about her place in a magical island, while exploring her skills and supporting herself is fun and exciting. Terrific world building and character development. Highly Recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and their compelling journey. The narrative was engaging, and I'm eager to explore the entire series in more depth. The storytelling has piqued my interest and left me wanting to read more.
