Great story
I really liked this book. Six friends, all gone through the system, have formed an unbreakable bond. Nate, Carly, Sarah, Reese Dalton and Mitch. Nate has managed to make himself wealthy, through some questionable paths. Carly is the down-to-earth, bookworm girl, with the dream to become a writer and most of all, a Mom. They both are in love with one another, but they hesitate to act on it, because they are afraid to damage their strong friendship. Nate, however, has managed to destroy every single potential date Carly had so far. He is also the one that tries to help everyone in the group by providing money (he finds excuses to give them) – and in case of Carly, work and accommodation. She doesn’t know that Nate is actually her boss and landlord, however. He just wants to protect her. When he learns, however, that Carly is thinking to become a single mom through a sperm donor, he breaks and…decides to be the one to give her the baby she so much craves….and through the old-fashion way…Sparks fly, their friends try to help – with some disastrous results at times.
I liked both Nate and Carly. Nate is determined, strong, an undeniable Alpha – the father figure of the group. Carly is sweet, innocent and forgiving – the mother figure of the group. I loved their strong relationship. I also liked every one of the friends in the group, although Sarah got on my nerves from time to time. I couldn’t keep being mad at her for long, though, because whatever she does or tells comes from a good place.
All in all, it was a pleasant, quick read. If you’re into this type of stories, you’ll like it. Good writing, likeable characters and nice flowing, albeit predictable, plot. 4 stars.
