• Have you seen Monster House? Are you a big fan of horror films? Then you and I are exactly alike. I recently picked up Andaleeb Wajid's book SCARE WALK. I am completely engrossed in the novel. This graphic novel has the power to transport you back to your early years. 🥀

• In my childhood, I had a wish. There is no doubt that I would visit a horror house if I could find one. In particular, at night. However, given how our Indian parents are, I can only assume that it was an exaggeration. The story begins with four friends named Ishaan, Veera, Angie, and Dhruv. They like to go on adventures prior to board exams. What happens next, then? 🎯

• They received a pamphlet labeled "SCARE WALK." They are situated in Bangalore. The city life is depicted here, with heavy traffic. However, their exploration led them into never-ending dead ends. My initial impression was that the author was attempting to adapt the MONSTER HOUSE film. But really, no! 🐋

• The graphics are top knot. I finished reading it all in one sitting as an adult because I was so drawn into the pages. Think about it! I would even like a sequel of this book. 😭

• Although "The Collector's" appearance is mysterious, the characters are sufficiently justified. I would like more in-depth information about this. By incorporating snakes and shadowed faces into the gloomy setting, the author skillfully created an unsettling atmosphere. But in order to find out who this unsettling figure is working through, you must read this book. What is his desire? Who is finally alive! Whether they returned to their houses or not? 🦋

Scare Walk is an exemplary scary and frightening horror graphic novel that ultimately made me hyper aware of things that go bump in night. I was completely immersed in the captivating story and the illustrations are on a whole new level of being spookily spectacular. The narration is fast-paced and the unpredictability of surprises and shocks with intricate twists creates an eerie, haunting atmospheric vibe. With the themes of friendships, courage, twisted game, survival and instincts, a powerful crescendo of excellent anticipation and excitement forges the pathway for one of a kind reading experiences.

The story follows four youngsters Dhruv, Ishaan, Veera and Angie who go on this spooky experience of a haunted house called the "scare walk." While they thought everything would be a cakewalk, "the collector" had plans so horrid and terrifying that it quickly escalated into a minefield of bone chilling and frightening game of survival.

The collector is ruthless and this time he won't let it slide easy. Will the four be able to come out this sane let alone alive? Are you ready to join them on the Scare Walk?

If you are a horror reader or enthusiast who has a persistence perchance for shadows, apparitions and the supernatural that is unexplainable then this will be your treat for Halloween.

Sometimes there IS a monster under the bed. A rather boring looking scare walk can become the worst nightmare of the life.

Four school students plan to go to a haunted house scare walk adventure before their board exams come. That adventure soon becomes a bone chilling misadventure. Animals transforming into unnatural beings. Teleportation to the far away lands. Secrets are kept. No one can be trusted anymore. With actual death looming on all of them, will they be able to defeat “The Collector”? Will they be able to get out from there safely? Because no one has!

Welcome to Scare Walk!! PS – You will not be going back.

Wow!! What a hair-raising ride it was! I was legit scared for the kids and was praying for them to get out from there. The creepy and eerie atmosphere had me biting my nails. The story was superb with exactly how the novella should be.

But the cherry on the cake were the illustrations. They were just phenomenal. There were some pages where there was not a single word spoken but the characters and their expressions were magnificently drawn. So kudos to both the author and the illustrator for making this remarkable book an enriching experience for the readers.

I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was fast paced with easy language and storyline. It can be finished in 1-2 hours but I took more time as I was just admiring the illustrations. I had read a Batman graphic novel some time back and had thought why don’t we have Indian graphic novels of this quality. This!! This book is my answer after all these years. I am happy to add it in my collection.

Highly recommend! A must for all readers for a superb visual experience. You are gonna love it. Perfect for a weekend or a light read. Go for it.

The graphic novel adaptation, by Upamanyu Bhattacharyya, of Scare Walk by @andaleebwajid Andaleeb Wajid is a chilling and atmospheric ride which most often tends to blur the line between reality and nightmare. What begins as an exciting adventure with four friends soon turns out to be a terrifying misadventure as they go through a haunted house that happens to be much more than just an attraction.
.
The stark use of colors makes Scare Walk even more interesting. It is filled with tones and shadowy palettes that no doubt bring this haunted house to life and ramp up the eerie atmosphere into an unsettling tension on every page. Dark hues mixed with detailed illustrations add depth to the narrative but also keep you at edge, guessing what horrifying twist awaits around the next corner.
.
The graphic novel does a really great job of submerging readers into this creepy world, as visuals pop with fear and desperation in the realization of the characters that they are trapped into something far more sinister than a haunted house. Everything is expressed with intensity, from the faces of the characters to haunting shadows and a mysterious figure known as "The Collector"; feelings which will continue right to the end after one has read.
.
It's an engrossing story, running from the first page and refusing to release you, right up until the haunted finale. Though short, it leaves an aftertaste-one that wants more of it, even if it was satisfactory in delivering a thrilling, bone-chilling experience. Scare Walk becomes a must-read, not just for horror fans but also for graphic novel enthusiasts, since it delivers on visual terror par excellence.

"Scare Walk" is an exhilarating horror graphic novel that expertly combines spine-tingling storytelling with stunning visuals. Written by author Andaleeb Wajid and masterfully illustrated by Upamanyu Bhattacharyya, this adaptation of Andaleeb Wajid's original novella plunges readers into a chilling adventure that blurs the lines between reality and nightmarish imagination.

Similarly to classic horror👻 tales, this story hooks us from the very start with its slick Halloween🎃 advertising campaign inviting unsuspecting youngsters to experience a new haunted house🏚️ on the outskirts of the city. The narrative follows four brave friends who filled with a sense of adventure, venture into this so-called "Scare Walk."

What begins as an innocent excursion quickly spirals into a terrifying ordeal as the line between illusion and reality blurs. Each room within the haunted house🏚️ is depicted with eerie detail, pulling readers deeper into a nightmarish realm where every corner conceals a new terror. The visual storytelling elevates the emotional stakes, immersing the readers in the characters' escalating fear and despair.

The plot deftly explores themes of friendship, bravery, and the allure of adventure versus the harsh reality of terror. The artwork🎨 complements Andaleeb Wajid's haunting prose, creating a seamless blend of storytelling and visual artistry that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Overall, "Scare Walk" is a captivating graphic novel that successfully melds horror and adventure💖🎡

Graphic Novellas are not really my cup of tea because they demand simultaneous usage of eyes, mind and ears. Hence, when I was offered Scare Walk, I was a little skeptical about reading and investing my time.

Scare Walk, other than having a catchy title, is not only an interesting visual retreat that forays into the horror genre but it also offers ample opportunities of prediction to readers. It's unusual. Despite the dark illustrations, and I don't say that they are bad, the characters’ emotions, their actions and their hidden motives are planned well. Dialogues are minimum and there's a sensory overload of expressions that characters showcase. It's enjoyable- the experience of reading as well as seeing.

I cannot really figure out if I would choose a graphic horror novella again because of my inability to associate comic strips with the actual running narrative but I did like reading this. Quick and interesting, Scare Walk is unpredictable. Yet the overall darkness in the presentation didn’t appeal to me.

The story follows a group of four teenagers who come across an advertisement for a "Scare Walk" attraction on the outskirts of Bangalore and plan to check it out. Little do they know, they're not meant to leave.

I don't usually read graphic novels or horror stories, but work has been so busy lately that I needed something quick and easy. With Halloween approaching and my eagerness to escape the summer heat, I was excited to read this spooky horror novella-turned-graphic novel.
And I finished it in just 20 minutes! It was creepy and scary, a quick read with intense and atmospheric art. I could feel the terror and impending doom through each panel. I was nervous for the kids, but things kept getting weirder and creepier until the ending left me wanting more.

I wish it hadn't been so short - I need answers!

The graphic novel is a must read! Espcially if you have read horror in the past this graphic novel is a perfect place to start at. The eery illustrations and the plot really keeps you hooked to the book and this one is surely going to be a popular one amongst young children and a great read for the young adults who love exploring horror and look at horror movies. The grim colours and illustrations make it a fun read about four friends and how can friends turn against each other when it comes to saving each other. It was a treat to the eyes to look at expressions captured by illustrations and the end feels like a big stone falls in your stomach. It's truly a scare walk. How to turn a fun activity into something terribly scary is this book's brilliance.

Read the printed book which has been printed really dark making the pictures very difficult to see. As there are minimal written lines and most of the story unfolds through images it was not the best experience. I imagine the digital version would be much better. I love Upamanyu’s art and it deserved better print quality.
