In war, heroism isn’t found only on the battlefield. For young Chrissy Finlay, growing up in Scotland during World War II means the loss of those dear to her, the constant threat of destruction and the call to live up to her fierce Highland heritage. But she wrestles with an extra burden—the uncanny ability to see beyond the everyday realm. After surviving the German blitz of her hometown Greenock, Scotland, young Chrissy flees with her family to the Scottish Lowlands where her Second Sight awakens. Her Highland grandmother tells her the Sight has run in the family as far back as anyone can remember and cautions, “It’s a gift from God, a blessing and a curse.”Not even Second Sight warns Chrissy of the murder of a close friend. Still, she is determined to get justice and prevent further killings. She sets aside her fears and becomes the bait to lure a murderer and spy into a trap. But his fate after capture is top secret, and even after twenty years of silence, she fears he’s escaped punishment to make good his “I’ll find you and kill you.”The danger continues when Chrissy’s daughter Wendy comes of age. She learns from her mother’s experiences how to summon the courage to face life’s challenges. But her mother’s first life isn’t truly over and comes back to haunt them both.Fast paced with an uncanny twist, First Life is based on the actual events of my mother’s life growing up in Scotland during WWII.

I haven’t read First Life yet, but the synopsis alone gave me chills. A young girl growing up in wartime Scotland, gifted with Second Sight, and facing both real and supernatural dangers? It sounds like a powerful mix of history, mystery, and emotion. Knowing it’s inspired by true events makes it even more compelling. I’m really looking forward to reading this one it feels like a story that will stay with you long after the last page.

First Life, a book to read today.

I enjoyed the historical accuracy of the story. If you enjoy a well written book, you will love reading this tale. There is a little bit of excitement, paranormal and history happening in a loving family atmosphere. This is also a mysterious novel. Add this book to your collection today.

A Hauntingly Lovely Story!

I enjoyed the feel of Scotland throughout Chrissy's tale. The WWII arena gives intimate insight as to what the Scottish people dealt with on a day to day basis. Then you add the excitement of a killer, and then the grand slam at the end Well done!
