The best steel is forged by the hottest fires and under the greatest pressures. So too, have the Kurdish Peshmerga been shaped by thousands of years of warfare and oppression.

Now, for the first time in history, they have their own nation, and it’s a chance to live, grow, and develop as a unified people.

But they are surrounded by hostile dictatorships intent on the destruction of their young republic. Outnumbered and outgunned as armored columns swarm their borders, the Kurdish Republic’s only hope lies in a canceled DARPA project—an experimental, powered combat suit—and the business tycoon who refuses to allow the nascent nation to go under.

The only question is, will they be enough?

"A masterfully plotted and authentic action thriller!" —Larry Correia, New York Times best-selling author of the Monster Hunter International series

Yeah... Well

This book caught my attention with the whole smaller force vs larger one, powered suits and violence.

I'll note the failings first. This book may go down as having the most usage of the word 'young'. It really got old after the first 57 times. Why do we have to be reminded that Sheen is a 'young general', every second paragraph? Illogical & wasteful. The whole "Never Again" motto quickly became something to roll my eyes at, it was really clichéd and out of a B-grade movie.

Now onto the good, fast paced, excellent battle scenes. One could sense the desperation at times. As well as the relief.

Whether I'll pick up the subsequent entries, I am unsure right now. This story became a chore to finish.

Fantastic military sci-fi

This book is a combination of high tech thriller and science fiction, it is the blend of the two perfectly. The story of a war between the Kurdish Republic and Iran. Iran invaded and the Kurds are overwhelmed. But, an American inventor - Elon Musk like - the developed rail guns and armored combat suits. It allows the Kurds to overcome the Kurdish invasion.

This is a must read for those of us that love the genres.

Gritty, gut-wrenching near future war story!

Beautifully crafted story of a newly formed Kurdish Republic whose existence hangs by a thread. Enter the G.O.G. Combat suit, armed with devastating weaponry, precision targeting, and unmatched body armor.
A leader who’s lost everything commands a force of G.O.G.’s against overwhelming odds. A classic David & Goliath story in a realistic modern setting!

Fast paced and a fun read

The idea of soldiers in mobile suits is not new but as this story unfolds you feel the desperation in the actions of an outnumbered group of soldiers and their commanders. New and untested technology used by one group to create a situation that turns out to be a bold strategy makes the story more compelling then you might think.

At first I was wondering how I happened to choose a mideast war story, and then I realized it was actually fantasy fiction. The story and characters turned out to be exciting and moving. I suppose it could be called science fiction, too, even if it just a war story with unexpected results. I couldn't put the book down, except for a short night of sleep.

Gripping thriller that takes a refreshing approach to the often trope-y military science fiction genre. I especially appreciate Fawcett's approach to his characters. Strongly recommended to any sci-fi fan!

As a technothriller, it's a bit long in the tooth and has been overtaken by events. Not a bad story, with interesting characters, although the evil Iranians are portrayed just a bit too simplistically.

Fun read

I enjoyed reading the book. Thanks for taking the time to write it. Good character development. The time taken to proof read the book resulted in few errors. Nice.

Alternative history where we didn't abandon the kurds

Well written military fiction , ignores the reality that we abandoned the Kurds to the Turks , the Iranians and ISIS
