Whether it was in the Netherworld, the Mortal Realm, or the Spirit Plane, war was coming. For some, it was already here. It was not something Salvos wanted to partake in, since she just wanted to protect her friends, but when her very first companion wanted to overthrow the Demon King, she had no choice but to help him in his rebellion in freeing the legions from their servitude.
But when she has to face down Jofis the Disgraced Hellking, former ruler of the Netherworld, she is forced to learn that perhaps she is not as prepared for war as she thought she was...
Check out the 13th installment of the Salvos series!
Almost did not finish this one. What can I say, it feels like the author should have ended this with Salvos thwarting the demon kings invasion but then the series kept going and the author is scrambling for ideas. Honestly the last 3 books have been "Oh no Salvos, that demon is really strong there's no way you can beat him" followed by Salvos beating said demon and then "Oh no Salvos, that demon is really strong there's no way you can beat him" rinsed and repeated over and over. The only refreshing change to this one was Rachel actually doing something interesting and even that was just a tiny part of the book.
Not a very good addition to the series. It’s pretty boring, honestly. The series has pretty much tanked since Salvos’s move to the demon world, Haec being a rather lousy side character compared with Daniel or Edithe, Sal or Willy, and his demon side kicks are also pretty humdrum. The Rachel chapters were pretty good, and the Edithe and Willy side quest was serviceable. Salvos just isn’t nearly as funny when she’s hanging with other demons, and it’s been at least 3 or 4 books now that she’s been separated from the mortal realm.
This book does a good job of continuing the fun stories. The academy storyline is simply enjoyable. The Spirt World and Demon World storylines are both filled with interesting world building in addition to being fun.
I'm looking forward to see how things continue to play out.
I have enjoyed every book in the series and intend to continue reading them, but they feel like they are getting smaller and smaller with less going on in them. This one took less than 4 hours to read.
The author seems to have realized their mistakes as there is less repution in this one vs the previous 3. Still there but at least there is plenty of things happening and it's not just someone monologuing over and over.
