Blinded by secrets.

Sawyer Murphy has one goal: to reclaim his life. Blinded by a sniper's bullet in Afghanistan, he refuses to be limited by his disability. As Redwood Coast Rescue's tech genius, he’s determined to prove he’s more than just a computer guy, so when his best friend vanishes in the rugged wilderness, Sawyer sets out with his loyal seeing-eye dog, Zelda, to find him.

Trapped by nature.

Park Ranger Lucy Harper thought she had already faced her darkest fears when a serial killer left her for dead last year. On her first solo guide trip since returning to work, she’s resolved to lead her group safely through the three-day hike. She never expects to run into the one man she can’t forget–Sawyer. The man who saved her life and then vanished.

Trust is a luxury they can’t afford…

When an earthquake destroys the mountain trail, Sawyer and Lucy take refuge in a decommissioned ranger station with a ragtag group of stranded hikers. Old wounds resurface, and a powerful attraction reignites, but Lucy has sworn off love, and Sawyer’s wounded soul is slow to trust anyone other than his dog.

…And love is a distraction they can’t resist.

With secrets lurking among the stranded hikers, trust becomes dangerous. Someone isn’t who they claim to be, and their hidden agenda could cost everyone their lives…

Searching Blind is the seventh book in the Redwood Coast Rescue romantic suspense series by Tonya Burrows but can be read as a standalone. If you love a forced proximity survival adventure mixed with an old-fashioned locked-room mystery featuring broken but resilient characters, you won't be able to put this book down.

Another out of the park book by Tonya Burrows. From page one, the reader dives into a situation with Lucy Harper and Sawyer Murphy fighting for survival, while recognizing unanswered feelings for one another. This book is a fantastic mix of suspense, action, and romance. Just when you think you know what will happen next, Burrows throws in a plot twist that has you reading “just one more page. Sawyer and Lucy’s story quickly became a favorite in the Redwood Coast Rescue series.

I loved Sawyer Murphy and Lucy Harper! Redwood Coast Rescue's blind tech expert and the park ranger he rescued from a serial killer in a previous story are trapped in the mountains when an earthquake hits. Unfortunately, the group they're trapped with also includes a killer. They both have serious self-doubts about relationships, but can't deny their attraction to each other and all the ways they are there for each other in their times of need. When communications are cut off, it's up to the two of them (with Sawyer's guide dog, Zelda) to hike across the mountains to get help.

Great action (surviving in the wild and surviving bad guys) in this one. Sawyer and Lucy are deeply complex characters with plenty of insecurities and strengths they don't realize they have until called upon.

I do love a good love scene, but there was one in this book where the timing of it bothered me a little. But I loved the one at the end where blind Sawyer could "see" Lucy.

The book needed one more pass by an editor, as there were typos and incomplete/doubled sentences and a couple of missing words. But if you look past that, the story was a slam-bang action adventure with a wonderful love story. Oh, and one of my favorite dogs of the whole Redwood Coast Rescue series--Zelda! She's a loyal companion, a seeing eye dog, an alert to danger, and a goofball with great comic timing.

If you love action, passionate romance, and a truly diverse, complex team of characters (all the heroes and some heroines have various forms of PTSD from their military service and originally meet in a therapy group that becomes Redwood Coast Rescue), with equally special K-9 characters, I highly recommend this series.

Can't wait for Pierce's story!

So many amazing stars!! While this series and all of these characters have been fantastic so far, I have been anxiously awaiting Sawyer’s book. I can truly say it was worth the wait and everything I hoped for and more! I’ve just been a big fan of his since we were introduced to him. And Zelda too of course. He may not be able to see in the traditional sense but he sees more than many. I love his strength and perseverance, and ability to laugh no matter what. Underneath all of that though is a man who is still self conscious of his disability. And Lucy, well there is not a more perfect woman for him. She really sees him. What’s on the surface and what’s inside. But he scares her, well his love for her does, as does his desire to protect her at any cost, and she’s not sure she wants to put her heart out there. She is strong and independent but has a soft vulnerable side that is afraid to take that leap.
Thank goodness for friends or these two may have blown it.
I love all the other members of the team and their partners and their doggies too.
Sawyer and Lucy’s story is very entertaining and well written, with edge of your seat action and twists you don’t see coming. I don’t want to give anything away so I won’t. Just read this book, better yet, read this whole series because it is wonderful!

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.

Sawyer Murphy was blinded in Afghanistan. Now he works for Redwood Coast Rescue, as their tech genius. When his best friend vanishes, he’s set to find him. There he meets park ranger, Lucy Harper, the one who he saved last year. When an earthquake destroys the mountain trail, they are forced to take refuge in a decommissioned ranger station with a bunch of hikers. With danger lurking their feelings grow. I loved their chemistry and passion. They were made for each other.

Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a romantic suspense then you’re going to love it.

What an amazing book! I thoroughly enjoyed this. Sawyer was just as swoon worthy as I anticipated and Lucy was just perfect for him.

A great book full of non stop action, yet still managed to have tender and also spicy moments too. The dogs have pivotal roles again and Zelda was a hero.

I loved how both Sawyer and Lucy were so tough and you had complete faith in them that they would come through strong. Together they were a force to be reckoned with.

The ending as usual had me desperate for more! I love how we are all set up and ready for Searching for Secrets, I’m already intrigued! Brilliant book and series, which keeps getting better and better. I loved it.

I read this book in one evening! I couldn't put it down.

This is one of my absolute favorite series of books. I couldn't wait for Sawyer's book and this did not disappoint in the slightest.

Ms Burrows did an excellent job conveying the point of view from Sawyer and his blindness.

The chemistry between Lucy and Sawyer had me sighing in anticipation. I cheered when they acted on it. I loved their journey.

I can't not mention Zelda! I know Ms Burrows is very honest that characters may die, but the dog will ALWAYS survive. However she does like to make you worry slightly! Zelda is the best dog ever!

I’ve been looking forward to this book since Sawyer rescued Lucy in the cave, and it did not disappoint. I love that someone who is blind is one half of the POV on this story and that Tonya provides representation for people with disabilities. The way Lucy described things to him was poetic and beautiful. I was also on the edge of my seat the whole time but despite the dangerous circumstances they had a beautiful and hot love story. Now I have to wait eagerly all over again for her next book in the series.

Great book - had me turning the pages as quickly as I could. The author does an amazing job of creating heroes who are strong protectors that are also vulnerable and Sawyer is a perfect example. I also love the group support and of course the dogs. In addition to great characters, the storyline is well written with unexpected twists. Really looking forward to the next book.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Sawyer and Lucy find theirselves in a rather unfortunate situation that multiplies into catastrophic proportions in no time. The landslide they happen to survive only being childplay. A very fast paced story, as you came to know is Tonya Burrows writing-style, with lots of characters from previous books in the series joining them on their story. Quite suspenseful as you never quite know and only can guess, who’s the bad guy(s). Great story.

Ms Burrows left us hanging at the end of the last book ( Searching for Hope ) as Sawyer and his dog Zelda went looking for his friend Pierce and were caught in an earthquake--and this one picks up immediately where it left off. (If you haven't read that one yet, you should still be fine--Sawyer has sustained a head injury and needs a quick recap at the beginning too.)

Honestly, the book really doesn't ever calm down from there--Sawyer, Zelda, and Lucy, a Park Ranger who had been leading the hike that Sawyer and Zelda ran into just as the quake hit, are thrust into one very dangerous situation after another for the next 300 or so pages. If you're looking for a calm, restful book to pass the time, this isn't it ;) But if you want nonstop action and danger and plot twists and to be constantly wondering which other characters (if any!) our MCs can trust? Then this is the book for you!

I loved how truly capable Sawyer is here--we've seen it from the outside in the other series books, but "seeing" things from his POV this time was eye opening (sorry, puns really not intended I swear). I loved that Lucy never considered him to be less than in any way--I was less thrilled by the reasons she gives for their relationship black moment, but given all they've been through in such a short amount of time it is understandable (truly, the hits here don't stop hitting until the very end--this is an edge of your seat read).

Doesn't mean I wasn't giving her major stink eye when I read that bit, mind you. But I get it. And of course they figure it out in the end, so all's well that ends well, and all that.

But OMG, the ending of this one--I need Pierce's book now! No one can argue that Ms Burrows doesn't know how to keep readers coming back for the next one, that's for sure...

Book 7 already in a series that keeps you glued to the pages. And while I haven't read any of the books before book 4, it's not been a problem following along with all the characters from previous stories that make an appearance.

Sawyer was blinded by a sniper's bullet during a mission in Afghanistan, he's made a new life for himself as the tech guy for Redwood Coast Rescue and has found a new family amongst the rest of the team. When his best friend goes missing, he sets out for a search with his trusted dog Zelda.

During his trip he encounters Lucy whom he hasn't been able to forget ever since rescuing her from a deranged serial killer a while ago. Lucy is working as a park ranger and she's leading a group of tourist on a trip up the mountain. She's worked really hard to get back on her feet after her ordeal and is looking forward to the trip.

When they get hit by an earthquake however they are forced to stick together and try to get safely of the mountain. No small feature though as people are starting to turn up death.

This book had everything I love in a great romantic suspense story: lots of action, enough mystery to keep me on the edge of my seat and super sweet and loving moments between both MC's.

What I loved especially was that the epilogue already gives us a preview to who's next in the series.

If romantic suspense is your thing, I highly recommend reading this one!

This book reminds me of a TV show that I am watching, when all of a sudden you see: TO BE CONTINUED. That is exactly what happened with this book. Obviously the previous book, this one, and the next all tie in together. YUCK!! At least on TV, they will do a quick review of what happened previously. That does not happen here. The book starts with everyone in a ranger station. How did they get there? How did Joel break his leg? Who were in Lucy's original party? Who came by later? None of that was answered and I don't remember anything from the previous book other than an earthquake.

The book was boring. It was hard for me to get through it. Most of the book was trying to get off of the mountain. The book left me with many questions that were not answered. Why is everyone looking for Pierce? Why was Maya undercover? Who killed Maya and why? How did they do that with Zelda around? Why did Ethan abscond with Maya's body? Was Ethan really a forest ranger? Why did the bad guys kill themselves? Did Joel loose his leg? So many questions and no answers.

From the last chapter it is evident that the next book will be about Pierce. I hope that the new book answers all questions and is a standalone with no cliffhangers. Please stop with the teasers. I have enjoyed Tonya Burrows until this book. If the next is not a standalone, then I am finished with her.

LOVE it!!! i always loved Sawyer so now that he is the main character i could not wait to discover his story and it's quite an emotional one.
With Zelda at his side he seems to have mastered his disability but in reality being blind is making him doubt his worth....he may hide it but deep down he is insecure.
Lucy survived her abduction but she still has some anxiety left which is completely normal but she still is an excellent rager and she is attracted to Sawyer even if she does not admit it

So when an earthquake happens, both Lucy and Sawyer are glad to be together to face it and determined to bring Lucy's group of hikers to safely...what they were not expecting was to face earthquake AND to be hunted at the same time. However some people are looking for Pierce and are thinking Sawyer knows where to find him so they will do everything to get the information.

I LOVE the relationship between Sawyer and Zelda, the trust and the care between them. The romance between him and Lucy is sweet i love they did not jump on each other and that it was more realistic, slowly building.

The action is keeping us on edge so many twists and now we can't wait to get Pierce 's story to understand all these events.

To be recommended without hesitation

RCR tech guru Sawyer Murphy and his K9 companion, Zelda helped rescue park ranger Lucy Harper after the Shadow Stalker left her for dead. They felt the spark between them but back off, he thought he’d remind her of her ordeal, she thought he wasn’t interested. Out searching for his friend, Perce, Sawyer and Zelda run into Lucy and her tour group. Within moments, the earth literally moved. Sawyer saw falling rock shadows and pushed one of the tourists out of the way as the earth-quaked!

Sawyer woke to Lucy tending his wounds in time to escape a rickety shack falling apart due to tremors. Attempting to beat nightfall and coming rain, they stop to help a stranded and trapped hiker and bring her with them to another emergency station they have to talk their way in with a ‘stranded hiker and a fireman. Overnight, someone kills the rescued hiker and attempt to kill Sawyer and Zelda searching for info on Pierce. Sawyer and Lucy decide to try to reach the cell tower but the killer is chasing them.

When Sawyer and Lucy get trapped on the mountain with hikers after an earthquake, the group sets out to find help. Sawyer, who may be blind has his trusty dog Zelda by his side and Lucy, the woman he hasn’t forgotten after her ordeal last year. Lucy knows the mountains but her confidence is still lacking due to her traumatic past but with Sawyer by her side, he gives her strength and even though he left after her recovery, she trusts him. Aftershocks, landslides, rocky and dangerous terrain, belligerent hiker, injuries, strangers, limited supplies, murder, sinkholes, and shot at, has these two relying on each other for survival.
Holy smokes, the pages kept flipping as there was mayhem all around and the action didn’t stop…nor did the suspense. The descriptions were spot on, the story flowed beautifully and these two…holy smokes…they made a great couple and all the obstacles they face together…wow.

The way I was on edge the entire way through this book!!! Oh my goodness. I ate it up!! I was DYING for Sawyer’s story after the end of the previous book, and it didn’t disappoint! Sawyer and Lucy were put through the wringer to get to their happily ever after. There had been an immediate connection when they first met a year ago in one of the previous books. Now that they’ve been unexpectedly been thrown together again, that connection is even stronger. These two really only had each other to rely on in the face of danger, and I loved watching them learn to trust each other not just with their physical safety, but with their hearts. My heart broke for Sawyer and his insecurities, and Lucy loves him through it all. They’re sweet, they’re spicy (the mouth on Sawyer?!), and they both deserve the world. I loved seeing the rest of the Redwood Coast Rescue fam, and I already cannot wait for Pierce’s story!!!

Suck in all the oxygen you can, you will need it in this fast paced action packed page turner full of suspense with a twist thrown in. The romance pulls on the heart strings, Zelda (Sawyers k9) provides humor and both are needed as you struggle to breath in the earthquake, the mountain slide, the hike with wounded people in your care. I did think two of the perps were perps but then Tonya with her talent had me second guessing myself. I personally am not a fan of detailed explicit romance scenes, but I do not detract because of those as that has nothing to do with the talent an author possesses. Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to receive a free e copy. Nothing like free soloing with a blind man a dog and a killer on their asses shooting at them!

Sawyer is amazing, he may be physically blind, but even with his vision he sees so much more than anyone else. He has moments of self doubt and hesitation but deep down he fully trusts his senses, his instincts and his fearless sidekick Zelda! He also trusts Lucy and although she resists and tries not to, in her heart she trusts him too. She also sees Sawyer, accepts his disability and completely melts my heart with her beautiful "Anyone who can't see past your blindness is blind themselves". Gah!
A fantastic read on Kindle Unlimited, you do need to have read earlier books in the series for this to fully make sense as there are ongoing plots that run throughout the books and that also set up book eight.

Tonya Burrows really brought all her imagination to this novel. Sawyer and Lucy have history from a previous rescue situation. This story begins with a surprise when they are thrown together in the wilderness when an earthquake occurs - certainly not something that happens every day. Sawyer is stranded with his guide dog Zelda, and Lucy is guiding a group of hikers when the disaster strikes. I always appreciate a story that includes a great dog, and Zelda comes through. There are threats from the wilderness and from the human dangers, and Lucy and Sawyer are stressed to the max. It is a wonderful, creative story that I enjoyed very much. I somehow missed the beginning of the series, and I'm definitely going to reach back and read the rest.

I was given an ARC of this book and asked to provide a review, which I was happy to do.

Brilliant narration from Stephen Borne, who brings the drama, emotions, chemistry, danger and heat to your ears.

Sawyer has struggled since his injury that left him partially blind. Coming home was hard, but he still both easy going, but hard when he required. Sawyer it a tech and a year ago he saved Park Ranger Lucy from a serial killer, he has kept his distance from. Not wanting to admit his feeling , because it could break him.
But fate and an earthquake find themselves and group trapped in the mountains. Unfortunately, the group they're trapped with also includes a killer. Between a killer on the lose and learning not to fight their feelings for each other, these two need work together.

Loved Zelda, Sawyer’s guide dog.

Non stop action, drama, suspense, trills, chemistry and the perfect amount of heat.

What an action packed listen! I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. I couldn't quit listening. It starts off with an earthquake. Hikers are trapped and in danger. And the action never stops. Sawyer's blind companion dog is great. The park ranger, Lucy and Sawyer have history and a hot attraction. And I had to chuckle. One of the hiker's name is Chuck Grassley. He is the crabby old father of another hiker there. I'm from Iowa and Chuck Grassley is our 91 year old senator. I'm not sure who chose that name for him!
I'm giving 4 stars to the narrator. He has a great macho, raspy voice for Sawyer and a nice female voice that is very believable. But he uses his sexy, macho voice even when he is just narrating the happenings in the story. It didn't really work for me.

This series is one I can't get enough of. I love the characters and the fact I never know what is going to happen next. Sawyer is blind and wants to regain his independence finding some "normalcy". He's such a strong character who carries his own demons/baggage but tries to help everyone he can. Lucy is a park ranger who is strong independent and still recovering from her past traumas. Sawyer and Lucy have had a connection, but they weren't in a place to act on it until now. A landslide leaves Sawyer and Lucy with only each other to trust to get them and her hiking group off the mountain safely things start to get very interesting! Another great book where your favorite characters work together to overcome obstacles while keeping you guessing who the villain is pulling the strings behind the pages!

I have been anxiously awaiting Sawyer’s story, and it was well worth the wait. Tonya Burrows has a knack for writing great characters and romantic suspense plots. I love the Redwood Coast Rescue series. The characters are all flawed, but they are working hard in themselves. The love of their lives turn them around resulting in happiness. Their journeys are a tough road, but they all come through them with the help of their friends and the love of their lives. The rollercoaster plots make for an exciting book that I can’t ever put down. Lucy and Sawyer were perfect for each other. They both had issues with trust that they filled in for each other. Their story is sweet and sexy. Lucy fits right in with the group! I can’t wait for Pierce’s book!

"No, listen. I do owe you my life, and instead of repaying that debt, it feels like every time we meet, I'm always putting yours in danger."

Lucy Harper first met Sawyer under some very frightening circumstances. He helped save her life, stuck with her at the hospital, then was gone. She couldn't help her attraction to him. But wondered if it was the real thing.

Sawyer felt that he had to give Lucy space after her harrowing ordeal. Now that they have been pushed back together, he has no reason to let her out of his life again. He just has to convince her of this.

Sawyer and Lucy have to fight for their lives together, while trying to help others. Their chemistry is off the charts! Sawyer has always been one of my favorite characters and his story is right on point!!
