The Original Reiki Handbook of Dr. Mikao Usui: The Traditional Usui Reiki Ryoho Treatment positions and Numerous Reiki Techniques for Health and Well-Being
This book will show you the original hand positions from Dr. Usui's Reiki handbook. It has been illustrated with 100 photos to make it easier to understand. The hand positions for a great variety of health complaints have been listed in detail, making it a valuable reference work for anyone who practices Reiki. Whether you are an initiate or a master, if you practice Reiki you can expand your knowledge dramatically as you follow in the footsteps of a great healer.
An excellent companion to any reiki training! This isn't a full training manual by any means, and contains no symbols nor offers anything in the way of advice regarding attunements.
It does, however, contain quite a bit of text from Mikao Usui translated into English, talking about the usage of reiki. As well, there are many photos of the different hand positions taught by Usui-sensei - many more than the 12 generally taught in Western reiki traditions - and a rather lengthy list of how to treat different ailments with specific hand positions.
A quick read (one hour), this small book is a reference guide, covering the three pillars of Reiki and a number of hand positions Usui is said to have used in a variety of situations. The references are helpful, but a) I would use many of the hand positions demonstrated OFF-body, instead of on, and b) the twelve positions offered by Dr. Chujiro Hayashi cover much of what *needs* to be covered without violating personal boundaries. While I'm likely to require that Reiki III students read it for discussion, and while I can comfortably encourage those students to start to rely more on intuition, there will be a good deal of discussion about the 12 hand positions in relation to their usefulness and the significance of what has been entrusted to the practitioner by the recipient on the table and how that is honored in intuitive practice.
