When a man risks his life for a woman, this is beyond honour, this is love. When Henry Boswith, self exiled in America, learns that he has inherited not only the Baronetcy, but also the estates and shipping company in England; little did he think that his subsequent actions would take him to France. There the Revolution is in full swing – a very dangerous place for foreigners. An act of kindness ultimately leads to the necessity of returning to France. He chose to do it for love; but to pick a prisoner from under the nose of Guillotine is so dangerous and audacious, that it must be an act of supreme devotion.
It was very refreshing to enjoy a well told story by an author confident enough not to feel a need to sink into gratuitous sex or soft porn. I would rate the bòk five stars were it not for the multitudinous editorial gaffes.
