Sit around the campfire, stay up late, after lights out, with only flashlights, , the light under the chin making your a ghastly mask, and tell stories, scary stories, Get everyone to jump and shriek.

Almost all of us have done it. Wr may even remember the tales told. I've not forgotten the evil Idjit the Midget, one hand a hook I heard at Camp New Hope when I was ten.

To this familiar place is Gunnells takesus to find twelve boys, each taking a turn at scaring the others with ghastly stories of zombies, ritual sacrifice, murderous clowns possessing children at a birthday party gone very, very wrong, a Satanic Santa.

The stories are dark and disturbing, exposing weaknesses and fears of the twelve boys. Prejudices are visible, as is revenge. These dark tales are well told and rich in detail and character, Fans of scary stories, take note.

Recommended.

Absolutely fantastic

This has got to be one of my favorite collections I've read in a very long time. The whole premise of the stories being told by each kid was so good. There was one story I personally found distasteful but other than to one with the clown I loved it. Highly recommend!

A good horror anthology

The good thing about this collection of short horror stories is the way Gunnells puts his own twist on them. Some start off sounding like well known urban legends but the endings are anything but predictable.
