Breath: Wake Up To Life by Prem Rawat is a beautiful written reminder about how important it is to focus on just breathing. I am currently going through a lot of change and Rawat’s words about the importance of the breath have stuck in my head, helping me carry through. This two hour audiobook was a beautiful listen. I feel honoured to have had the chance to listen to the author reading it. It was such a beautiful reminder of how lucky we are to breathe. Just, breathe. This breath comes now, gone forever. He adds a lot of short unique stories that really bring things home too. I absolutely recommend this book for a beautiful reminder of the beauty of life.

I paused to write down a couple quotes:
"There is something happening in your life that is more important than the sum of all your accomplishments and your mistakes put together. What is it? It is the coming and going of each breath."

"One breathe in and one breath out. Can't take two breaths at the same time. Without doing anything, whether you're sleeping, whether you're awake, within this world of infinite changes, something has been placed that doesn't change, inside of you. A breathe doesn't appear to be much, but look a little bit more and you will find an existence."

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this audiobook.

A balm for an agitated mind. Nourishing in its simplicity. Brings life’s essence into focus. A read to savor, absorb and reflect on, not one to rush through. The audio version is like a wakeful lullaby.

Take a breath! We say it, but does the meaning sink in? This simple book is a revelation – an engaging, entertaining, life affirming, and often poetic reflection on the one indispensable experience common to us all. By all means, read it and take a breath.

Received an ARC of this book from a GoodReads Giveaway. So happy to add it to my ever growing library ♥️📚

It’s a lovely, short read. Some quotes to ponder:

“Your breathing is your life certificate”

“Your life is not about seconds, minutes and hours but about every breath you take”

It’s been decades since I first read Khalil Gibran’s “The Prophet”.
In all those years I have never come upon anything else as simple and profound.
Until recently, when I read Prem Rawat’s new book “Breath: Wake Up to Life”.
While Gibran spoke eloquently of the many aspects which comprise human life...
Prem focuses on the one quintessential element, without which life could not be:
The coming and going of, and the gift which is each breath we take.
Be it humble or otherwise, in my opinion “Breath” should be required reading!

Breath written by Prem Rawat and narrated by Prem Rawat was an inspiring listen. Prem has a lovely voice for narration. Breath is a brief book that was an easy and quick listen.

The description teases “bring peace into your present moment through the power of breath.” I do not agree with that description.

The book begins focusing on breath and breathing then morphs into an introspective on life, self, and peace. While the title and description are a little misleading, the message in itself is worth listening to or reading.

PEACE & CONFLICT. A person might think they're peaceful, but that all goes out the window when someone snags the last parking spot right in front of them, so maybe we should measure our peace by those little moments of annoyance that sneak up on us in daily life. You achieve peace the same way you achieve anything else, by making it something you're obsessed with and treating it like your top priority.
GRATITUDE. Instead of interrogating life about where it’s going, we should just say thanks for wherever it’s stumbling along right now and for the days we actually get to see. If you aren’t grateful for your breath, then it doesn’t matter what else you think you’re thankful for, because gratitude starts (and maybe ends) with just being alive. Breathing is the only essential ingredient for gratitude - everything else is just seasoning.
PURPOSE. As long as you’re breathing in and out, you’ve got a purpose. Bees spend their days buzzing around looking for flowers and collecting nectar, and maybe that’s the most honest metaphor for humans too - we’re all just looking for our own flowers to keep us moving.
LIMITATIONS & BELIEFS. The story of the elephants comes back to remind us: They’re tied to a post with a string they could break in a second, but since they failed when they were young and weak, now they never even try. That’s everybody, isn’t it? We walk around with invisible boundaries, never testing which ones are real and which ones were just installed in our brains by some early disappointment. All it takes is breaking through one limit, just once, and your mind starts to open up-suddenly you’re wondering, “What else have I underestimated about myself?”

Days when you are not sure of where your life is going and what is your purpose and ....???
This book starts with a hope, failures don't matter till you are alive. "Being Alive is Success."

"Breath: Wake Up to Life" by Prem Rawat is a thought-provoking book that encourages readers to focus on the simple act of breathing as a path to inner peace and self-awareness.

Let's talk about writing style. This book is not overly structured, but feels like soft conversations or questions to the fear we have inculcated inside ourselves. This one is a short easy read with focus on importance of life and breathe.

A very powerful line says if you are breathing - you have a purpose in life, so discover it. Death is powerful, it will spare no one. Breathe is the only thing that keeps death at bay. It is myth that we believe that we have all the time in the world. Our time here is limited. A very powerful line says if you are breathing - you have a purpose in life, so discover it. Death is powerful, it will spare no one. Breathe is the only thing that keeps death at bay. It is myth that we believe that we have all the time in the world. Our time here is limited. The book suggests that by focusing on something as simple as the breath, we can find fulfillment and clarity. The book connects the act of breathing to the very essence of life, stating that "your breathing is your life certificate" and that "your life is not about seconds, minutes and hours but about every breath you take"

A beautiful book about human existence and about the simple yet significant act of breathing. Simple yet profound message delivered in an elegant manner.

The author in the book explains the importance of the act of breathing and how it nurtures life. This in turn opens up a plethora of opportunities for us. The breath is something that is sustaining the whole world.

Without noticing , the breath is the source of all life and therefore all possibilities. The whole world opens up for a person just because he is alive and breathing. It is a source of light , a source of power for every being.

Breath is the common thread that joins all humanity despite differences in cultures and opinions. The author provides the message of enjoying life while being compassionate and empathetic.

The author lyrically joins breathing and life with peace, gratitude and acceptance. One needs to be grateful even for the ability to breathe. The act itself is the most important evidence of life. As soon as the act of breathing stops , the essence leaves even a healthy body.

The book has been written in the form of a poetic prose which adds to the reading experience. The added illustrations make the book aesthetically pleasing. The simple language and the use of candid stories further strengthen the message of the author.

The meaning of life and living starts with inhalation of air and the author successfully helps the reader to find spark in this act.

At first, Breath didn’t quite resonate with me. The writing felt repetitive and somewhat surface-level, making it difficult to fully engage with the message. However, after reading the back cover and learning more about the author, I gained a better understanding of his perspective. I could see how this book might be more impactful as an oral presentation rather than a written work.

That being said, the book does promote a meaningful message—encouraging mindfulness, reflection, and appreciation for the simple yet profound act of breathing. It serves as a reminder to find peace in the present moment, something that often gets overlooked in our busy lives. One of my favorite quotes from the book was, “If we don’t care about the disease, the symptoms never go away.” This stood out as a powerful metaphor for addressing root causes rather than just surface issues.

Overall, Breath is a quick and decent read with a positive message. While it may not have been my favorite in terms of writing style, it does offer gentle reminders about gratitude and inner peace that some readers may find inspiring.

When I first heard about this book my initial thought was “How can a book about breathing be interesting?” I was busy with other things and didn’t give it much thought - but the idea of anyone writing such a book stuck in the back of my mind.

Finally, my curiosity got the best of me and I bought the book. There were several assertions that really got my attention; (1) Whether or not someone is breathing is the final test on whether they’re alive (2) Breathing takes place 24 hours a day, even while we’re asleep, and (3) It’s something that’s granted free of charge to every person who has ever lived. Again, my rational mind initially challenged each of these, until I finally had to admit “Well, that really is true”.

I keep the book handy and read a few pages in spare moments. It still gives me a tickle that comes from some place that’s WAAYY different from my usual go here, go there, get it done frame of mind. Looking forward to exploring this further. If this appeals to you, by all means snatch it up and give it a read.

A book to dramatically change the way we look at our own existence. Simple yet powerful.

"Breath: Wake Up to Life" highlights the simplicity and importance of the most fundamental building block of our life called breath.

What truly amazes me was how the author, Prem , used such a simple words and stories to truly touch the heart as well as transform my own understanding of life.

One quote that especially resonated with me:

You are the custodian of the holiest thing in existence. You're the custodian
of this incredible miracle that is the breath that is coming into you.

It's rare for something to feel so profound and yet so grounded.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who’s trying to make sense of this life—even just a little. It reminded me that we’re all just trying to be. To breathe, to belong, to become.Breath: Wake Up to Life

What is the one thing we most overlook but absolutely need to survive? Breath. This lovely illustrated little book is full of metaphors and examples of how precious our life's breath is. There are so many quotable quotes but here's one: "This breath comes and touches me like a harp. It plucks that string and an incredible resonance vibrates through my whole being.” Breath comes like a love letter from life, asking us to wake up and appreciate the very fact of existence. I love that the poetry of this book, describing the breath coming and going, is also in a format easily read and digested at my own pace. There are short chapters, stories, anecdotes and reminders about the power of this breath, the wisdom that's found inside of us, and the light that in the midst of all this darkness I need to remember.
Pick up your copy, and breathe easy. Life is good, as long as you are alive :)

Hello fellow readers. This is a review of Breath: Wake Up to Life. Books like other media can be a source of entertainment and learning. Hopefully both. I’ve been thinking about my want for entertainment and distraction. Watching tv, online browsing. Is all that leading to an awareness of my existence and true fulfillment? No. The chapters of Breath bring the reader’s or listener’s (audiobook) attention to the breath coming in and out from the moment we are born. Without breath, we are not alive. The author through stories, illustrations and personal insight helps one to see how beautiful every breath is if we place our attention there. How awareness of breath is awareness of being alive and our capacity to experience real love. The book is beautifully written. I recommend taking the Breath adventure.

The was a short, easy to read book that felt like the author was speaking directly to you. The illustrations were adorable and the tone was positive and uplifting. The flow isn't too structured, but also not all over the place. Rather, it felt like a naturally flowing conversation. After reading it I felt like, "oh that was cute", but I find as time goes by my mind wanders back to it often, so it had more impact than I realized at the time. This was a pleasant read and I am thankful to Goodreads Giveaway for providing me with a copy for review.

This book was a good reminder that we NEED TO BREATHE to stay alive and functioning. Breath isn't only about physical health but mental and spiritual health as well. Rawat shares a lot of platitudes, many of which sound like they could be bumper stickers and much of the information I read in the book was something I learned in yoga classes. However, this was encouraging and easy to read. *Advance copy provided by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

This book is a welcome reminder about the one thing we truly share as human beings: breath. As someone who's lung collapsed at a young age, I had to relearn how to breath, and have been relearning ever since.
This is a inspirational book, with sweet line drawing illustrations. Simple in structure, every line would make a great quote. The stories help paint a larger meaning to the power and value of breath. It doesn't disappoint.

Breath: Wake Up to Life

Prem is explicit when it comes to Breath; it literally is the beginning, is the middle that punctuates the now and defines our end. The two book ends with our story between them. He helps the reader consider and discover the most profound in the simplest way. I love the illustrations!

I received an ARC of this beautiful book through Goodreads. It is a gentle book that appeals more to the heart than the intellect, encouraging one to become aware of our inner/devine natures, which unify us all. It is through this process, beginning with ourselves, that peace will be attained. I loved the parables included in this book as well.

I read this book cover to cover the day I bought it. Prem Rawat's words on breath took me directly to the feeling of my own breath, and as I continued reading that feeling stayed with me - without any conscious effort on my part. This is a powerful book about a powerful subject. Breath, the simplest of acts yet, as Prem points out, keeping death at bay!
