From REMINGTON KANE, author of the TAKEN! Series SPECTER - A Tanner Novel - Book 57
Tanner hunts down the fabled assassin, Specter, after the legendary killer claims another victim. Is Specter real? Or is he more myth than man? One thing is certain. Specter is deadly.
Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.
Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.
He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.
Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.
The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.
He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.
Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.
By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.
This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.
When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.
Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.
Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.
Enjoyed the latest Tanner Novel. One of the nicest outcomes of Remington Kane’s novels is good outcomes are contained in each novel. That is appreciated in itself and bad guys get their due. ,Such fun reading and written so well.
Probably should be called “Tanner 7.5” as we see a definite transition in roles. Henry, who will become the new Tanner (#8) plays a major part as he hunts a missing girl following his pursuit of his original target. We get a glimpse of a terrible current issue, human trafficking. Meanwhile, Cody, Tanner 7, is chasing Specter, an assassin who has killed a U.S. senator. His chase reveals much more than one would anticipate, but our hero, as always, is up to the challenge. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and voluntarily provided an honest review
This was my first Remington Kane novel. The high ratings drew me to discover why so many readers liked his work. I’m sure that I would have appreciated (and better understood) the various characters more had I read any of the previous 50+ stories. That being said I found this novel to be very engaging as the “Tanners” attempted to find and eliminate “Specter”, another hitman. The Tanners worked together to resolve what seemed to be independent cases, but were interconnected.
Warning - you won't want to stop reading once you start, it's that good of a story. Tanner 7, Cody, is working on figuring out who Specter, another assassin is, while Henry, Tanner 8 has his own contract to fulfill. Both Cody and Henry run into more than they expected and must use all their wits to come out ahead. Definitely recommend this story about Tanner 7 and Tanner 8. Loved it!
I found the book good but I am finding not very much action that I always expect from Remington Kane. I have read all the books but I feel the need as a fan to say how I feel. Please come back with some real fighting action. I maybe have favorites in the Tanner series and mine is White. Not sure on #8 yet.
As I wrote on the first Tanner story, Mr Kane gets your attention and makes you feel you are rt next to the characters. They captivate u and keep u reading until the end. The only thing that would be better than his books is seeing them turned into a tv series on a streaming app.
In the book Specter, we see Tanner seven searching for information about the political activist, Specter and the moving towards retirement. Henry gets hooked up with a partner just by coincidence when doing a hit. The two young men do some great things and save young women’s lives and what’s going to be next for Tanner Eight?
I have read and enjoyed every one of the Tanner series and have read them more than once. I understand Mr Kane reasoning but will surely miss his stories. Thank you for many hours of enjoyment
Should Kane's series be made into a script, the perfect actor to play tanner would be the Canadian Torrance Coombs. He played Sebastian due portiers on reign. Talk about intense blue eyes! Maybe we'll all get lucky and the adaptation will be soon.
Now at 71 l have read all 57 of the Tanner books. Being a male made me really enjoy every book. Mr Kane has done a great job with all books I can hardly wait to read the next book. I have got a few of my friends reading them.
Tanner has a mystery to solve & Henry has a job which turns into a rescue.
Tanner investigates a Senator's assassination & Henry takes on a job which turns into a rescue mission meeting a man who is trying to bring a girl home who was abducted by Henry's target.
Have read them all! It has been a real roller coaster ride. This edition has heart. Great story great read. Henry's run was typical but saving the girls was a nice touch. Look forward to more!
I’ve come to expect the each story to better than the last and have never been disappointed and I never will pass up the chance to read a tanner story.
