Rate this book
Are you standing confused at the crossroads of midlife, your once clear path now obscured by uncertainty? You are uniquely designed to step into a life filled with joy and freedom. You were not created to watch the world from the confines of your couch! Yet navigating the changes of midlife is hard.

But how do you successfully navigate the unchartered territory of being alone for the first time? How do you face the uncertainties that come with empty nesting, retirement and other midlife loss?

Beth Binger has walked this exact trail of indecision and doubt. After 26 years of a comfortable life revolving around home, husband, and children, her world capsized. The kids grown, husband gone, she felt dumped in a new and unrecognizable place - alone. Finding a way forward through midlife meant creating a new life that would bear little resemblance to the one she had known for almost 3 decades.

Her solution? The unlikely but life-changing decision to embark on a solo road trip. With each tentative and then confident mile, she left fear and anxiety in the rear view. Instead, she chose to reclaim wonder in her life, renew her mind and begin again.

There’s Wonder Around the Bend is the practical, emotional, and spiritual outpouring of how she turned a crisis into a story of renewal and hope. And now, she guides you to write that same story for yourself.Beth invites you to journey with her as she shares relatable and captivating stories from the road. You'll eagerly embrace her encouragement to purposefully reclaim wonder for yourself. In a brilliant blend of road trip inspiration and Christian self-help for women, There’s Wonder Around the Bend takes you from your first timid travel dream to confidently packing your car for the open road (including the best snacks!).

With charming prose that feels like an afternoon shared with a trusted friend, Beth reveals this beautiful Seeking freedom and wonder in the glory of the God’s creation opens your eyes, heart and mind, creating space to move forward in hope.

Wonder - from the moment I started reading this book everything resonated with me. My heart said "yes, this exactly." I love and appreciate the way the author has put to words the wonder that comes as we wander and the trust and reliance that grows as we depend on the Lord day to day.

So much practical advice and suggestions from someone who gets where you may be at in your own personal journey.

As you travel solo, being totally responsible for yourself, it's inevitable that you will discover just how capable you are.

I love how Beth provides guidance, suggestions and support throughout this book. She has written chapters to help you prepare for your roadtrip in specific and necessary areas and also chapters to encourage your soul.

The last chapter stood out to me and is a big encouragement that I will come back to read multiple times.

As a frequent solo traveler myself, I highly recommend this book! This book begins in an unusual way for travel books: the author unfolds the layers of fear and doubt that can be present for solo travelers - especially female travelers - and helps you discover ways to overcome those fears to truly find the wonder in travelling alone. As the book progresses, she provides more and more practical tips, including everything from where to hide your backup credit card and keys to recommendations for making sure you have everything you need at your fingertips while you drive.

What a wonderful read! Not only do I have a passion to skip a week of school, hop in my car, and find the wonder around the bend, but I learned so much about how we can find and appreciate God’s creation in the beautiful nature around us. Throughout the book, I jotted down notes and highlighted tips and tricks, but I also smiled pleasantly reading Beth’s passion for travel. Whether you are roadtripping to get back to your college dorm after break, a family vacation, or checking off a bucket list item, you should read this book. Well done all around 👏🏼
