I thought revenge would taste sweet… but it's not revenge I keep wrapping my lips around.
Bartending is far from my career goal, but I’m not at La Luna Noir to pad my 401k. Heck, I’m not even here to pay my bills. I took this job for one reason and one reason only: answers. If only it were that easy. This place might be filled with secrets, but all I’ve been discovering is new cocktail recipes… until today.
The office is left open and now’s my chance. All I have to do is go in, find what I need, and get out. Easy peasy. Right?
Wrong.
Now I'm a prisoner in the mob boss’s basement, struggling for my life, and hating how hot I think he is. Oh yeah, and he bit me for no reason… who does that? And why did I like it?
Mated into the Mob is the first book in The Wolves of La Luna Noir, a sweet with knotty heat MM Mpreg Shifter Mafia Romance. Mated into the Mob features a sexy pack Alpha who runs his family business (yes, that kind), the human omega who digs a little too deep into his father’s death, a fake relationship meant to keep him alive but instead puts a target on his back, true love, fated mates, an adorable baby, and a guaranteed happy ever after. If you love your alphas hot, your men dangerous, and your omegas fierce, download your copy today.
Colbie’s characters are sexy, hot, adorable - and often filthy - alphas and omegas. They include feudal lords with dark secrets, outrageous aristocrats with scandals buried deep in their past and poverty-stricken gentleman who have gambled away their inheritance.
Lurking in the background are notorious kings, princesses, and courtiers whose opinions change with each whisper in their ear.
And as for Colbie herself? She dictates her steamy stories with a glass of champagne in one hand. Because why not?
DNF 29%. The set-up sounded fun, but unfortunately, the writing really doesn't work for me. The dialogue is really bad and unnatural and the characters' behavior is outright bizarre. Also, Flint (supposedly the big bad alpha) is supremely unappealing as a LI with his hair trigger temper tantrums and tendency to yell and "shriek" (yes, that exact word was used at least once).
I'm not enjoying the book at all due to the aforementioned issues, and these are fundamental, so I'm calling it quits here.
The story about Tony alpha father was so unexpectedly sad I just didn't wanna think about it, it was cute but it didn't satisfied my drought of Mpreg also I barely seen any chemistry between these mcs for like 60% of the book
I’ve decided this is just not the author for me. I thought Tony was one of the most obnoxious characters I’ve read in a long time. I kept hoping Flint would get frustrated and kill him. I’ve enjoyed some of her books she’s co-written with other authors, but this was my first book she wrote on her own.
Dnf around 45% i found it boring, the writings is a bit off and the world is confusing. There’s alpha and omega humans? But also shifters? It just felt off
Oh boy, Tony got caught, sneaking in his boss’s computer and office. Now Flint, the big boss, wants to shoot him if he makes a bad move.
Flint's head is exploding, the little mouthy human smells divine, and his inner wolf wants to mate him instantly, but he’s the boss and just can’t mate him. The boy tried to take something from him, and Flint doesn’t know what, yet. He has to punish him.
Flint is so conflicted, he has to act tough, but all he wants to do is pamper his mate. Okay, Tony is scared but also wants to sniff the mafia boss, because dang, he’s something.
Oh boy, Tony is a sassy brat and a pain in the a$$, it’s driving Flint crazy, he just doesn’t listen to what his alpha says, he has thousands of questions and demands answers.
Fated mates, scents, my favorite things! The story has some great plotlines! Wonderfully written story, I adored Flint and Tony, not your regular kind of alpha and omega. Overall a fun, sweet, exciting story with a great plot! Oh, did I mention the mpreg? Yes!!!
When I first started reading this story, I thought, "When is the action going to begin?". Well, it started, but dragged out too slowly. Tony is just a grad student working at a "mafia" owned club. Whereas Flint is the Alpha of the pack and the head of the "mafia". He is also a wolf shifter. Tony is looking for information as to what happened to his dad when he was caught and taken to Flint. Flint scents Tony as his fated mate, and the fun begins. The only problem with this book, as well as other books, there is too much inner mind talking/inner voice talking. When two characters are in a room, why not have them talk to each other?
Can I call this an urban fantasy if only 30% takes place in the urban, everything else is just a mansion in the woods or a clearing in the woods and then back to being locked in the basement of the mansion in the woods. Then the only thing fantasy about it is the shapeshifting. Well, and the gay baby-making.
Both of the main characters are born from gay cis-male couples. It's noteworthy that Flint's grandfather mated a woman. So, it's a very gay world. It's also kinda up in the air is non-shifter men can get pregnant. Like Tony's parents aren't shifters but one of them did the baby-making and the other did the baby-carrying..... So why does Tony not know if he can get pregnant? Is getting pregnant require a specific gene?
I don't feel like Fint and Tony had any real chemistry. I know they're fated mates and all that drek. But together I feel like they have the personality of wet cardboard in a back ally. To be fair I finished this weeks ago so my memory is hazy. I do find it amusing that Flint remarks on and is fascinated by Tony's large penis. This is a trend I'm starting to see in these last few m/m romance books; see the gay Dean Winchesters in Goth Town from a month ago. (Taken by the Lord of the Nocturne Court)
'My grandfather had named the club, because unlike most of the shifters in our pack, he had a father and a mother, instead of alpha and omega dads. They’d arrived in this country from different places. La luna was for her. The moon, bright, shimmering, and stalwart because her mate and son adored her. Noir was for his father, dark and threatening.' Weird heterosexual grandpa?
'In ancient times, we’d been the fixers for wealthy humans who didn’t want to get their hands dirty, but as the centuries passed, knowledge of our shifter abilities slid from humans’ memories. But our position in society hadn’t changed; humans were still happy to pay us to do their dirty work, thinking we were just like them and naming us “the mafia.”' Homosexuals saving the world. Again.
'The boss was taking me somewhere outside the city to dispose of me, yet another emotion mingled with the fear, and I felt strangely alive in his presence. Considering I was about to be dead and mangled, maybe it was me having one last hurrah. My body tingled, something it did when I was anticipating something positive. Being knocked off by a mobster didn’t fit that category.' Your body is tingling because it knows he's going to get you pregnant. Spoilers since you didn't know you could get pregnant.
'The interior wasn’t what I expected. I assumed mafia chic was fake french furniture, gold-plated everything, carpet so thick it reached my ankles, gaudy chandeliers hanging from every textured ceiling, and a mess of twirly crown molding.' Why did you think were going to Trump's house?
'Despite the work I did, I had a moral compass. I wouldn’t fuck him if I didn’t have his permission,' Yay you're not a rapist. Thank you Flint. Should I find it sexy that you thought about it but didn't do it? Mix signals mafia baby.
'He was much smaller than me, though perfectly well proportioned, except for the bit I’d felt up. That was huge.' Big omega pp make Alpha squishy.
'I teetered between being furious he thought I wanted to eat him and him comparing me to a wicked witch, though I’d eat his ass in a heartbeat.' Yes reassert that you're the top, the only top.
'I dug in my coat pocket for the keys and grabbed the cuffs, deliberately not looking at him, though his prominent bulge was hard to ignore. My hands shook. That was what he did to me. I hated that I couldn’t control myself around him.' We already discussed this, you're all squishy.
'But his hands went to his belt, and I recalled horror stories where kids were beaten with a man’s belt. I wiped my clammy palms on my pants as a feeling of unease expanded in my tummy. But if he was going to drop his pants, I’d stay where I was and not take off back to the house before getting a look at what was underneath.' You're afraid he's going to beat you and not fuck you but, you're not too afraid to stick around to see how big he is....
It had a lot of potential, but I don't know; I just can't enjoy their story at all, even from the beginning. I kept reading just to find out the truth behind Tony's alpha father's death years ago. As it turned out, Tony's father was a shifter who worked for Flint's grandfather and father, and they weren't just boss employees; they were quite close. It was kind of horrible to finally know the truth. Tony's Omega's dad was furious to know that his husband, Tony's father, worked in a waste management plant owned by a mafia family. Mad with rage, he threw a metal bar at his husband, hitting his head, and then his dad threw his body into an industrial shredder. What a cold-hearted person his dad was!

The dual POV was difficult to follow, I am not sure the author knew how to effectively pull that off. So many times I was like who is talking again, whose opinion is this.
The world building was mediocre at best. So many loose ends, assumptions made. I felt like the author had a script of the things they wanted to happen in the story and no flow to it.
Very disjointed, not effective writing and never felt the insta love between the characters. Sex seen was meh, not a lot of feeling to it, felt very trivial.
So..I'm just very all over the place after finishing this. I really liked Tony's sass and Flint caving when it came to him. But.. there was just a lot of yes, no, yes, no, well maybe and I'll think on it on if Tony was going to accept the mating and then at the end it just was. I'm also glad we got a the reasoning for his Alpha dad's death but not for why his Omega dad kept him at such a distance, basically neglected him/pushed him off to the side while growing up especially when discovering how his other dad died.
I loved this story the MCs but it was hard to read. I felt like there was more words than needed to be. I had a hard time reading because of this but I loved the story I look forward to the next one
The start of The Wolves of La Luna Noir series I will say you might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Tony an omega, a human trying to finish his master’s degree accepts a job as a bartender working with club La Luna Noir knows nothing about the supernatural beings he works with / around including his boss. Flint is the boss of the club La Luna Noir, also the alpha of his pack with the same name smells his mate and knowing that he is working so close yet can’t be with him because he is human which is against all rules in place for them. Flint can’t understand the confliction about his mate but when his mate is caught snooping puts him in a position that requires him to take actions yet when he is around mate things are much harder for to control so struggling to keep his beast at bay until he can explained what he really is and who his mate really is to him but will Tony accept it all, how will they navigate their relationship especially with laws against them, and through it all will they find what they are looking for?
Omega bartender Tony takes a job at the upscale mafia nightclub La Luna Noir with a hidden agenda to uncover the truth about his birth father's mysterious death. When his snooping catches the attention of Flint, the club's owner and Alpha wolf shifter, Tony finds himself drawn into a world of intrigue and danger. Flint, torn between his duties as a mafia boss and his unexpected realization that Tony is his mate, struggles to balance the two. Tony is so snarky and unwilling to back down, even when he's in a challenging situation. Flint has a hard time dealing with Tony, much less having to explain shifters and the whole pack. Rudy helped so much - loved how he could help Tony through things. As secrets are revealed and their relationship deepens, both Tony and Flint must navigate the love, loyalty, and duty. Tony may have gotten the answer he was looking for, even if the truth was unexpected, but he found so much more in his new life with Flint and the pack. Hot and steamy MM human-wolf shifter mafia romance with power struggles, threats, betrayals, danger, mystery, and more.
If you like big, bad, stickler-for-the-rules, alpha mafia bosses that are really just big ol’ softies when it comes to their mate, you need to snatch this one up!
Tony, a bartender at the mafia owned La Luna Noir, was caught snooping and was taken to the mafia boss to be dealt with. One whiff of the omega’s scent and Flint, the mafia boss, was torn with what to do. He talked a big game but there was no way he could harm his mate though his position as the pack’s alpha wouldn’t allow him to let it go either. The battle was real!
This was SO. GOOD!!! Some shifter books are hit and miss for me but this one was definitely a hit!! 5 STARS worth!!!

Tags: shifter world, fated mates, mpreg, charming, almost hilarious, heartwarming, whimsical, compelling, page-turner, easy to read, no cliffhanger. This novel is a entertaining, and uplifting story focusing more on love and passion than on the mafia world. It is a sweet and spicy venture into a world of shifters, featuring fated mates and mpreg. The novel goes beyond the typical shifter and mafia romance. The eloquent, fluent writing and the witty, dynamic, and vibrant narrative enhance the charming and captivating reading experience. I enjoyed this story set in the world of the shifter mafia, focusing on a clash of the shifter versus human traditions and values, causing entertaining misunderstandings and fights between the main characters. The tale of mafia boss Flint and Tony, a human, is a hilarious and passionate journey from their first disastrous meeting to their acceptance of their fate, attraction and subsequent love and relationship. Tony gets caught breaking into a mafia lair, totally unaware of the existence of the shifters while searching for information about his father. Flint immediately realizes that Tony is his fated mate and has no choice but to kidnap him to protect Tony from his pack. Thus begins the rollercoaster of their hilarious path to a relationship, filled with twists, turns, and misunderstandings. I enjoyed their feisty love-and-hate dynamics, expressed in witty comments and dialogues. The hilarious inner voice of Flint's wolf, his amusing banter, and Tony's priceless reactions to Flint's odd behavior make this novel a captivating, entertaining page-turner. The author gives enough context and depth to Flint and Tony to make them charming, lovable, and easy to connect with. While the story flows at a steady pace, the end is somewhat fast and feels forced. Regardless, this did not impact my overall reading experience. What to expect: An eloquently written, enchanting, and entertaining, sweet and spicy, whimsical shifter romance with a dynamic and hilarious narrative and heartwarming love story. What not to expect: Dark, violent drama, complex issues and characters, heart-wrenching emotions, angst and suspense, or action. Disclaimer: I firmly believe that for every book written, there is a reader who will appreciate and enjoy it. This review reflects my personal and subjective view and shall be read as such. I received an ARC of this book. Regardless, this review is an independent and genuine reflection of my thoughts.
Mated Into the Mob is a standalone MM omegaverse novel by the always wonderful Colbie Dunbar. It is the first book of the Wolves of La Luna Noir series. This is an omegaverse that includes shifters, who keep their existence away from humans, although the m-preg isn't limited to the shifters.
This is probably one of the most darker and grittier tales that I've by Colbie Dunbar. While this a story where the mafia characters do conduct some shifty, dangerous and perhaps even some illegal activities, this is woven in to the attitude of the wolf shape shifter pack. And while that isn't an excuse, it certainly makes for an atmosphere around the pack and the pack's alpha.
Tony is a human omega, he's finishing his masters degree and has his own reasons for getting a job at the club La Luna Noir (I was amused at the number of times the grammatical error in the name of the club/pack are highlighted). Flint is the boss of the club, he also happens to be the wolf shifter alpha for the pack that shares the same name as the club. When Flint realises that his fated mate is a human, something against pack laws, Flint is conflicted. Not to mention that his mate was caught snooping. These guys have interesting chemistry and the darkness of their meeting (erm, kidnapping one's mate and the whole mafia **thing**) means that getting to know them and loving them is a bit of a rocky journey.
This is good for any fan of paranormal omegaverse stories, but especially those that are into mafia/crime family types romances and morally gray characters. There is a good dose of mystery as Flint and Tony try to figure out their feelings, and also solve what happened to Tony's father when Tony was just a baby. I look forward to more and hope to see romance on the horizon for Flint's brothers.
“I glowered at him as he lay, hands behind his head, reminding me of medieval paintings in an art gallery. “I believe I did.” “Two things.” I held up two fingers. “Mated we may be, but I never agreed to any of this or said I’d live in this… this… McMansion.” “I can have it redecorated. Just tell me how and it’ll be done.” I flung another pillow at him, but his wolfy reflexes had him catching it. So not fair. I wished there were a way to turn those off. “That’s not the point. You’re making decisions for moi.” “Moi?” He quirked a brow and smirked. “You are the most infuriating person I’ve ever met.” He forked a mouthful of scrambled eggs between his oh so kissable lips.
So is he lying in bed with his heads behind his back or is he eating eggs? Is he eating eggs in bed? How did he catch the pillow if he’s eating eggs in bed.
A bit farther down on the same page (during the same interaction in the bedroom):
“I’ll be taking a shower now, as we’re late.” I noted two words: we and late. We weren’t anything unless the driver waiting to take me home was pacing over the driveway and checking his watch. “Huh?” “I have lunch with my family every Sunday, but as it’s past lunch time, I postponed it to dinner.”
So.
Was he eating eggs in bed as a pre dinner snack?
The book wasn’t very good but I hate leaving books unfinished. I overlooked some spelling errors and other inconsistencies earlier in the book and powered through but couldn’t keep going after this. I have no idea why the eggs of all things were the dealbreaker.
Honestly, this one had a lot of potential, but I've definitely read better shifter/Mafia romance. For one, this is another author that doesn't believe in editing. LOTS of unnecessary exclamation points, weird words/phrases, abrupt endings of sentences/paragraphs, etc. This was difficult to read at times, not only because of the grammatical errors, but also because the characters emotional responses were ALL OVER the place. It was very hot and cold between the two MCs the entire time. I felt almost no chemistry between them, and by the time Tony miraculously decides he has feelings for Flint, it was more than half way through the book. The dialogue was also really weird and seemed unnatural for two adults in their positions. The overarching plot of dissent within the pack was a great idea, but not well executed. I felt like there weren't enough hints dropped at what was going on; it wasn't really discussed outside of that one meeting at the beginning and then at the end suddenly there were a bunch of betrayals? It was just very abrupt. Overall, I don't think I could read the next one just because this was almost painful to read. Another misleading cover...

“You are the most infuriating person I have ever had the displeasure of meeting!”
Omegaverse and the mob? Yes please! I enjoyed this book. I liked both Tony and alpha shifter Flint and the dynamic between them. I like how Tony's scent completely threw Flint off at first. As well as his conversations with his wolf. Some of the banter between Tony and Flint made me laugh. Especially the "packing" tidbit. I hated when any of Flint's yelling was stated as "shrieking." All I picture are angry shrieking Karens and witches. Not an alpha mob boss. Tony was sassy, but I don't know. It seemed unrealistic for the situation he was in. At least the amount of sass he sassed. And Flint's apparent lack of control and quick to yell (or shriek) made him less appealing considering who he is supposed to be and how he was raised. Finally learning what happened to Tony's birth father was unexpected- and heartbreaking. I'll continue this series. 3.5 stars.
DNF at 68%. I really wanted to like this book. I liked the plot for the most part - I thought having alpha and omega humans would help the shifters hide what they really were so that was smart. But even after over 60% I couldn’t get a handle on who the characters were. The writing was all over the place with their actions and reactions. And there was too much of their inner dialogue that was also all over the place. Tony came across as a child in his views of the mafia. Flint at certain points was supposedly a bad ass mafia alpha (at least according to his own inner thoughts) but it’s not reflected in his actions or those around him.
Less telling more showing would be my advice to the author.
Tony and Flint story takes us to a new world of wolf shifter mafia. It was one of the sweetest mafia stories, where you have secrets, betrayal, deception and lots of love, teasing, and support from the family. Their first encounter was intriguing, they had a couple of obstacles along their journey to happiness, as well as a lot of banter and ribbing. Interesting and hilarious was Tony reaction to Flint’s wolf, as the way he processed his real background. I liked to see how their relationship blooms and how they get to accept their feelings. I really loved the story and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.
"My brain couldn’t brain, and I counted the seconds as time warped and wove around me."
This is book 1 of a new series, The Wolves of La Luna Noir, by Colbie Dunbar. I wasn't sure, when I picked this up from Booksprout to read and review, whether I'd like it since all Mafia related stories are not always to my liking... But I was worried for nothing.
Poor Tony, just wanted to discover what really happened to his birth father, who knew he would end up getting in over his head. Also, poor Flint, he had to deal with Tony being such a handful. Fated mates for the win.
Opposites attract, fated mates, brings intrigue, and pack politics.
Great start to series. I love reading mafia romances. They can be really graphic, brutal and violent. Well this one has some violence but nothing too cruel or graphic. Flint being the boss...can be a marshmallow...especially towards his mate Tony...but Flint has the alpha pack mentality in handling things. The kidnapping, the mystery of Tony's dad and the upcoming betrayal kept this novella a page turner. The romance between Tony and Flint through it all was kind of comical with its ups and downs but they did eventually get their HEA. Nice start...can't wait for more from Colbie!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Outstanding! Tony wants to find out what happened to his Father. He sneeks into an unattended office hoping to find clues. He knows the risk amid rumors the big Boss is mobbed up. Then he is caught and taken to the Boss.Nothing goes as expected. Flint, the Boss is not who he expected. Flint is a shifter and Tony is human. Flint scents Tony as his mate. This is a surprising, dramatic, scary, adventurous, extremely funny, dangerous story. We have a group of supportive family and some surprising friends. Great story, excellent flow exciting! Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mated into the Mob is the first book in the new The Wolves of La Luna Noir series by Colbie Dunbar. This is the story of Tony a human omega and Flint an alpha wolf shifter who is a mafia boss. I loved the characters and how they interacted with each other. This book took some twists that I wasn't expecting. Colbie Dunbar does an amazing job with the omegaverse stories. I really enjoy the way she writes. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book.
Colbie Dunbars writes light and lovely alpha/omega mpreg stories. This one is just a tad darker. The characters have harsher edges, but this is no where in the same category as 'regular' mafia stories. Those are often too bloody, too violent. Not this book. Call it mob-lite, but even the mafia deserves a bit of lightness and fun. There's some bloodshed, but not excessive. Dunbars does what they do best, giving us a snarky, brave omega who turns his alpha absolutely insane with his sass. Loved it. Secondary characters were great, more books are needed. A quick enjoyable read. I'm really liking this edgier Dunbars.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It was just badly written, I love shifter, love mayes, love mobster but this was so meh, I basically skimmed most of this. It just couldn't keep my attention. There were so many contradictions. He was waiting for his mate, but they cant mate humans? Alpha pack boss but sleeps in his own dungeon? Has his own pack forming a revolt infront of him with rebels he fought for yrs n let in the pack / made a treaty. Has unprotected sex n omg gets pregnant n everyone but the couple works it out first. Sigh.
Tony was caught snooping at his Boss Flint's Club. When Flint meets him, he realizes Tony is his human mate. Tony has a lot to learn about the his ancestry, the Mafia, wolf shifters and his mate. Though both are confused, their attraction and pull is too much to fight. There is mpreg, upheaval and pack wars, never a dull moment for the Alpha shifter and his feisty mate. I received a copy of this book through Book sprout and this is my voluntary opinion.
This is super cute, funny, fated mated and some angst. Tony is on the hunt to find out what happened to his alpha father when he gets caught snooping. Flint is the alpha of the La Luna Noir. Tony gives as much snark and keeps Flint on his toes. Tony is trying to understand what is going on and what is with all this mate talk. Tony and Flint are to cute and the secondary characters just add to the enjoyment of the book.
