My name is Gaius Flavius Equus. Yes, it means horse and yes, I saw the movie. I have heard them all, believe me. I was a Legate in the Roman Army for the glory of Rome. As as fate would have it, I outlived the Rome I served. I was turned and became vampire in year 367 A.D. and have lived as Vampire since that moment when the Celtic wench I was bedding fed off of me. She sat with me through my turning and I paid her well. I think she had expected me to stay with her but fate had other plans and so did I.I have lived through these ages learning and growing hopefully in wisdom so I can meet my fate and become more than I was. I have kept the lands I purchased when I was still a Roman citizen for my villa is my sanctuary and I have enjoyed my life while I changed my identities from Father to son to Uncle to cousin through the ages. However…it has come to my attention through my good friend Sedik Vladic that I am in need of a wife. He has recently become mated and I am amazed at the change in him. I don’t remember when I have ever seen him smile till now. And I have known him for three hundred years. As an added blessing…he has children on the way. Children!I have always enjoyed the company of women, even when I was mortal but, a wife? Sedik has invited me to his lands so I will be there when his children arrive. I am also to be introduced to his wife’s sister. A mortal woman named Henri. Who names a woman Henri? Well, I promised to hold my tongue till I meet her. Sedik says Sandra thinks we will be ‘good together’.Sedik is very pleased with his new mate and he wants the same for me. I can’t say that things will turn out as he wishes or should I say how Sandra wishes. I know that his wife has her hand in this for no vampire would ever stoop to being a matchmaker…or would they? Who can say for there is much change arising in the society of Vampire.New laws, new talk of war, new political problems, and I hear that the council is having a vote for a new KING. This is big news. A King after so long….well, as I said, there is more to think about here than a wife. But I will say the thought intrigues me. I can’t wait to see what happens and that’s saying a lot for a vampire as old as I.
Thanks to all my readers. To those that send reviews and those that send me email. I appreciate all your thoughts. I like it that others enjoy reading my stories as much as I like writing them.
If there is one thing I like It's a really good story. I will have to admit, I love happy endings. I love family, true love and devotion. That is at the heart of all my stories.
The women don't have to be perfect. I prefer they aren't. And the men? They don't have to be perfect either although most of my male characters would swear they were. People have flaws and these wonderful flaws I love to develop in my stories. It creates some of the rare characters that I love to explore. It's what makes being human interesting to me and all my stories have someone who has very clear-cut flaws. I write stories that entertain me. Doing that, I believe I entertain others as well and...it keeps me out of trouble.
