The fourth book in the brilliant My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish series – containing two funny (fishy) tales with laugh-out-loud cartoon illustrations that will hook you from the first page
Frankie was a completely normal pet goldfish . . . until Tom's evil-scientist big brother, Mark, tried to murder him with toxic gunge! Luckily Tom and his best friend Pradeep shocked Frankie back to life with a battery, and he's been their zombified fishy friend ever since.
When Pradeep and Tom take Frankie for a sleepover at the museum, history really does come to life as their evil big brothers try to reanimate the cursed Cat of Kings mummy. Dodging death-defying booby traps, can our fishy friend avoid becoming a mummified kitty snack?
In story two, there's something fishy going on at sports day. All the athletic kids seem to be losing their sporting abilities, while Tom's evil big brother Mark has suddenly become amazing at every single sport. Can Frankie help Pradeep and Tom to foil Mark's evil plans? Or will Mark and his pet vampire kitten, Fang, take home the gold?
"Originally from America, I moved to London because I wanted to live abroad but spoke no foreign languages. After a brief and unsuccessful stint as a serving wench at the Tower of London I found work as an actress and comedy performer. I’ve perfomed regularly at Edinburgh and London comedy festivals. A few years back I got a job touring around the UK as a storyteller and that’s when I discovered that kids liked, laughed at and didn’t fall asleep when I performed stuff that I wrote myself. I was hooked on writing and performing for kids..."

The fourth book in this series, and while it wasn't as good as the others, it was still a good book.
Why didn't I entirely like this one? Because this one just felt weird/off. The whole first story and what happened there was just not something that I felt fitted with all the other stories we have had about Frankie and Tom and Pradeep. I am not sure how to explain it correctly, but while the other books meant that Tom and Pradeep had to prevent things from happening (at times being captured), in this one they are pretty much instantly captured and they have to do stuff. It felt like it was just a bit too evil, even for Mark and Sanj standards. Instead of laughing about the silly evil stuff that they often planned, I was shaking my head at quite a few of these things. It just seemed way over-the-top. Especially with that revelation near the end, I know Frankie was special, but this special? Sorry, no. I still liked the Egyptian part and the whole tomb raiding and puzzle solving stuff that happened. It was interesting and I always had an interest in Egypt and mummies, so I was happy to see it in the story.
The second story is more like all the others again. We have a sportsday, but things aren't going right. What is Mark planning now? I really loved how Tom and Pradeep made new friends and also tried their best to help out their schools (even though Tom was pretty useless). Poor Pradeep though, he is truly allergic to everything. From sacks to watermelons to a lot of other things. I also felt sorry for him for having such a mom. Who apparently doesn't get that her son just wants to be left alone and not want to be hugged and cuddled and such in front of friends and the school.
It was fun to see Frankie again, and to see all the stuff he does.
I also hope that we will see those girls again, they made a nice addition to the story and I would feel sad if we didn't see them after this story again.
All in all, this was still a good book, but as I explained it was a bit over-the-top at times. Still I would recommend this book, and I will still read all the other books that will come out. Because this is still a great series.
oung zombie fans might find Frankie, the zombie goldfish, a cool combination of being a zombie, a superhero, and a best pet friend, a story worth reading. Tom and Pradeep, are best friends, who revived Tom's goldfish by shocking him with a battery, turning Frankie the goldfish into Frankie the zombie goldfish. Tom and Pradeep suffer from the evil-older-sibling syndrome so many books today seem to enjoy exploiting, with a twist. Tom's brother Mark, is an evil scientist, and Pradeep's brother Sanj, is an evil computer genius, so these older siblings are mean, bullies, and want to take over the world. This chapter book includes two stories, independent from each other, which will be satisfying to kid chapter book readers that are constantly looking at the page numbers of a book before deciding to give it a chance. The stories are silly and funny, Pradeep, Tom and Frankie are constantly battling their older brothers' evil plans with their wit, and although these siblings do not get along, when it counts they take care of each other.
Another wonderful zombie goldfish adventure, just the stress-reliever I needed right now. One thing I love about this series is its consistency. Each story is unique and different, but the quality, humor, and amazingness stays the same. With so many series, I find the later books not quite up to par with the first few, but these have all been great so far.
Both of the stories included in this book were fun, hilarious, and a pleasure to read. Nice, simple writing style that is easy to follow and makes the reader want to continue with the story. Great for reluctant readers. The pictures also help to break up the text and coincide well with the story.
Awesome book. I've already checked out the fifth book from the library and can't wait to read it.
It's very fun, like the others, but this one is more weird. There's a mummified cat that people call a curse and why did the evil scientist brother got to Sports Day? You'd think he'd have something better to do like making more evil.
These books are so fun to read. Tom and Pradeep with the help of Frankie the zombie goldfish battle again with the evil brother Mark with hilarious results.
Book 4 in the series but stands alone just fine. This book contains two stories. The first is an Egyptian adventure based at the local museum; the second is at a multi-school sporting event. Both tales contain humor, an element of mystery, and illustrations in the style of "Wimpy Kid". A good read for those who are looking for something fun and funny. A bit young for middle school (but could work for struggling/reluctant readers), steer more towards 3rd/4th grade.
This book features two different stories about that well-loved and hypnotic goldfish risen from the dead--Frankie. Tom and Pradeep are on a sleepover in the history museum with their zombie goldfish when they realize that there are plots afoot to turn the Egyptian curses to someone's advantage. In the second installment, they must figure out how to thwart Mark, Tom's older brother, when he uses his science knowledge and a trick or two to suck out the sports talents of his competitors during a field day that he desperately wants to win. Throughout both stories, Frankie is his usual loveable but fierce self, making his presence known when it matters and barely surviving some close calls. The fourth outing will keep fans of the series amused and reading because the stories are funny and the idea of a zombie goldfish is just so zany, but it works here. There are nifty bits threaded into the story about Pradeep's nervous stomach and his overprotective mother that add to the humor and make it much more than just a one-note story.
Better than the other entries, but I have to admit - the story doesn't change much from book to book. Tom and his friend Pradeep are pitted against Tom's brother, Mark, and Pradeep's brother, Sanj, both older boys being evil scientist types who want to rule the world (or at least their corner of the world). Frankie, the big fat zombie goldfish, usually helps the younger brothers save the day by "zombifying" someone or something. Pradeep's little sister, Sami, comes in at least once or twice to say "swishy little fishy" (which is awfully cute). So, really, not much changes.
This fourth book did have the advantage of an Egyptian mystery, and I liked that the boys used some science to outwit their evil brothers. Also, I found it interesting that in the 2nd story, the competition was not only the sports teams, but also the "smarts" teams, such as chess. That's sort of cool to see!
I think I've had my fill of Frankie for now. There's a fifth installment, but I feel like I am no longer under the zombie goldfish's spell.
Any Fin is Possible by Mo O'Hara is the third book in the Big fat zombie goldfish series. This book is about a kid named Tom who had a normal gold fish and then his evil scientist brother turned his goldfish into a zombie goldfish. Tom and his friend Pradeep head into a museum for a class field trip and hear about a myth about a secret cave inside the museum that holds actual mummies so they try to find the secret cave that holds all the coffins and then they figure out that mark is trying to turn the mummies into zombies to take over the world.
I really liked how this book was humorous. I also liked how this book was a good continuation from the other books in the series. I also like the art style of this book. I would rate this book a 5.
I recommend this book to people who have read the other books in this series and to people who have read the middle school books.I really liked this book overall.
Actual rating: 3.5 stars. I really debated with myself about whether or not to give this 4 stars, but ultimately, not enough Frankie and an unbelievable second story made me decide against it. I know what you're thinking..."It's a story about a zombie goldfish with a hypnotizing stare. How believable are you expecting this story to be?" I just felt the sports story was very different from all the previous ones. Mark actually creates something that works? And the kids are able to reverse it? Other than that, I did enjoy both stories. They made me giggle. : )
My 8 year old really liked it, my 4 year old just didn't get it yet. I really liked the morals it was selling even if it was really silly and overly contrived: friendship, doing the right thing when you aren't sure what to do, and that it is ok to not know the right answer.
This book includes 2 stories. I prefered the first story about an overnight sleepover in a museum with an ancient Egyptian cat mummy. The second story was about a sporting event.
