Return to Harmony Island...
I wanted Ella to be mine but I screwed it up. Not only did I lose my chance with her, but I also lost my best friend.
Ella

I wanted Asher and I to move past his confession. We’ve been friends for so long, we can get over anything, right?

Wrong.

Not only has our relationship fundamentally changed, but he disappears for a month and comes back to Harmony, engaged. Apparently, he rekindled his relationship with his high school girlfriend.

Gloria insists that I write the expose on their wedding. Asher’s fiancee is the daughter of the Mayor of New York City. It’s the kind of story that will restore the town’s trust in the paper after the Proctor disaster.

I try to be happy for Asher, I do. But he’s changing for his fiancee. Suddenly he doesn’t like things that he used to love. And the more time I spend with the happy couple, the more I begin to realize that maybe they don’t know each other as much as they are letting on.

Then everything changes when Asher and I kiss during a bachelor party game. That’s when I realize why I’ve been so unhappy. Problem is, I had my chance and I didn’t take it. And the thing with choices is, there’s no going back.

Willow

I didn’t think Cole Watkins would come back to the diner. I’d almost forgotten about him and his contract until he shows up a month later, ready to take his place as co-owner.

I hate that I have to answer to this man. This diner was my chance to make a new life for my son and Cole is getting in the way of that.

Until Jasper is sick and Cole hands me a container of homemade chicken noodle soup that he made. Or when I’m tired, and Cole takes over in a way my ex never did. And when he’s playing cars with my son? I feel my resolve to hate him forever start to soften.

But as soon as I try to get closer to him, to learn about the man under the suit, he shuts me down. In that moment, I realize Cole is not here to be my friend. I need to protect myself and my son. I’ve been hurt once and I’m determined to never get hurt again.

Sunny Side Up Diner is the sixth book in the Sweet Tea and a Southern Gentleman series and ends in a cliff hanger.

I received this book as an ARC and loved it. Asher and Ella have a sweet friends to lovers story. Then there is the start of Willow and Cole. I can’t wait for the next book so I can see what happens with them. I feel like I’m a part of the small town, Harmony Island. Anne Marie Meyer never disappoints. It’s like reading a Hallmark movie!

I was an ARC reader for this book, and I could not put it down! My heart broke in the beginning of this book, and it was a rollercoaster of emotions through the rest. Ella and Ashers' story was intense with a twist I didn't see coming.
I can't wait to read the rest of Willow and Cole's story. The beginning of their romance in this book has me so hooked.

If you love clean, sweet, small town love stories (very Hallmark) you will love this! Thank you to Anne-Marie and her team for this eARC! it was an ABSOLUTE honor!

What to Expect:
⭐ A small town love story
⭐ Dual POV
⭐ Best Friends to lovers
⭐ Sweet with no spice - Unless you read the bonus scene!
⭐ 2nd storyline start twisted in!

My Thoughts:
If you have read any of the Sweet tea and a Southern Gentleman series this is EXACTLY like the rest, DELIGHTFUL! This story 100% leans on vibes of "Me Best Friends Wedding" movie. It's the life long story of two people of opposite sexes becoming best friends, realizing one has developed feelings that the other doesn't reciprocate at first. Which is one of the WORST kinds of love. He (Asher) decided he needs some space from the small town and ends up reconnecting with his high school sweetheart. In the meantime that space teaches his best friend (Ella) time to think about how she feels.

The end gives you everything you hope for out of best friends falling in love with each other. You will find a delightfully funny mother (Ashers) who meddles just a bit to put some ducks in a line. Some friends of Ellas who stir the pot in all the best ways. And a series of secondary characters who have you chuckling through the story. Its sweet, not spicy, and is a great story to read in an afternoon!

BONUS! You get the classic Anne-Marie book which twists a secondary story in to her books. It is something that she is really one of the few I know who do this. It might confuse you at first seeing another story that doesn't fit in the middle, but it's the best because she introduces us to the next story! Which in this case is about a recently divorced mother and her little boy who move to the small town of Harmony to take over her Uncles diner. A stranger comes to town saying he partially owns the diner as well. In a mix of bad luck and days spent together we start to learn a bit about main characters Willow + Cole, but not enough to understand or know where the story is going, what will happen and how it will end!

I can't wait for book 7!!!

I am DNFing this book at page #46. I am usually stubborn and see books through to the end but I just can't do it with this one. I gave the first 5 books of this series a 3 star rating, but in retrospect, I should have given them just 2 stars. The character conversations and actions just don't match up with their ages and supposed life experiences, which is my biggest gripe. It annoyed me in the previous books, but I overlooked it (with rolled eyes) because the books were still light and quick reads, and there was just enough mystery to make the story interesting enough to continue on. However, I have reached my breaking point and just can't do it anymore. I don't know if it's because I just read a better written novel before this book, my patience ran thin, I looked at my ever growing TBR list, or what, but it's not worth my time to continue on with this book/series. Good luck to Willow and Cole, who will undoubtedly fall in love (with incomplete relationship building conversations and experiences, I'm sure!) and their shared ownership of the diner. Also with Ella and Asher with their assumedly awkward and prolonged realization of love for one another but without any actual conversation/resolution to their current conflict. As for the other characters that had incomplete character arcs and relationship building experiences, I'm sure they will all live happily ever after. The End.

Sunny Side Up Diner
Author: Anne-Marie Meyer
Source: Purchased
Published: March 30, 2024

With Sunny Side Up, you get two stories in one. Ella and Asher have been long-time best friends, but she freaks out and runs him off when he wants to ramp it up to marriage. Fast forward almost a year later, and he returns to the small town of Harmony Island, now engaged to the daughter of the Mayor of New York City. As a newspaper reporter Ella is assigned the job of covering all the wedding details, which isn’t just opening a can of worms; it is poking at a hornet’s nest. Ella realizes her mistake and her feelings for Asher run deep. Crazy shenanigans ensue. Then we have Willow and Cole, who meet when he walks into the Harmony Island diner Willow thinks she owns, and he shows her his deed for half ownership of the same diner. Things don’t go so well, and they are like two prize fighters circling in a ring until he is super kind to her young son, which melts her heart. Crazy shenanigans ensue. They are cute stories but in a peculiar format. 3.5 stars. #sunnysideUpdiner #enemiestolovers #friendstolovers #smallTown #love #romance #cozyromance #chicklit #selfpublished #kissesSealTheDeal

This was my first time reading a book by this author and within this series, and it was also the first time I’ve read a book structured like this—where two separate stories unfold simultaneously without being interconnected, aside from taking place in the same town.

The first story was a delightful friends-to-lovers tale that had me rooting for the characters from the start. I couldn’t wait for them to realize their true feelings for each other. It had a fun and engaging My Best Friend’s Wedding vibe that I really enjoyed.

The second storyline began as an enemies-to-lovers plot, which intrigued me, but it wasn’t fully resolved in this book. Instead, it seems to be continuing into the next installment, leaving me eager to see how it develops.

Overall, this book piqued my interest in the series and the small town it revolves around, and I’ll definitely be checking out more stories from this world soon!

The author, Anne Marie-Meyer, did an outstanding job with this story. I loved having multiple people's points of view. Seeing Asher tell his best friend, Elle, how he really felt and how it blew up in his face was heartbreaking. But Anne didn't leave us with broken hearts. She put it back together for us. I am so glad Asher found love with his best friend.

We also heard Willow's story. I cannot believe that Cole came in and didn't know Willow or Jasper, but still did little things to show he is a good person. Willow losing her house was the saddest thing because it wasn't just her it was her son as well and she had to be strong for him. Despite living in a diner, Cole was an amazing man and moved them into his house.

I can't wait to see what Anne comes up with next! I want to know how Willow and Cole's story plays out. After that, she gave us a glimpse into Sabrina's life, which I am also looking forward to!

This was such a good book! You see two love stories for the price of one!!

Ella and Asher who are true besties but when things happen, Asher confesses his want for Ella, life takes a crazy turn and some how he winds up engaged to someone else?!?!

FYI their story is my favorite one…

Then you have Cole and Willow who come to realize they both own the same diner and well…. Life takes over and you’ll have to read to see where this goes!

This is a funny-sweet hallmarky book that is 6th in the Sweet Tea and Southern Gentlemen series.

It was my first read and I think can totally be a stand alone, but I am excited to read the others now. Ann-Marie writes beautifully and has great timing in her stories with heart ache and comedic lines!

Thank you again for allowing me to be an ARC reader on this one it was a true joy!!!

This series just keeps getting better and better! I adore a good friends to lovers story and this one was wonderful. Asher is so loyal and caring. And Ella is thoughtful and sweet. I love them together, they make a cute couple. I also enjoyed getting to know Willow more. I look forward to continuing her storyline in the next book and getting back to Sabrina's as well. It warmed my heart at all the mentions of past characters in this book. The Sweet Tea and a Southern Gentleman series is my absolute favorite. If you like small town sweet romamce this is the series for you. I highly recommend it!

“At first he didn’t see me. He had his head down and was tapping away at his phone like he was writing an email. But as he glanced up, my heart took off racing. All I wanted to do was run back to the dressing room and hide.

As soon as he looked up, I realized he was the only man I ever wanted to look at me like that again.”

Sunny Side Up Diner is the newest novel by Anne-Marie Meyer in her Sweet Tea and a Southern Gentleman series. Asher and Ella are best friends, but find themselves in an awkward standstill after Asher has confessed his feelings for Ella…that she doesn’t return. If you enjoy a book told with Multiple POV (Asher, Ella, Willow) and best friends to more…then this book is for you!

This is the first book that I have read in this series, and while I was able to read it as a standalone, I do recommend reading the books in order. The author’s writing is engaging and now I am very intrigued by the other characters in the previous books and now want to read their stories as well. This book does end in a cliff hanger which is going to leave me antsy until I see it resolved 😊

CW: kisses only, mild swearing throughout (a, h, s, gd)

I received this book as an advanced readers copy and finished it in two days! I was absolutely obsessed!

The story line continues following Ella and Asher’s story. You can feel the tension, pain and heart break as their story unfolds. The unbelievable is happening, Asher is getting married. Will this be the end of best friends Ella and Asher?

We have the new story line of Willow and Cole and I can’t wait to see where their story leads them! Cole seems like such a tough guy with no personality. But we see little slivers of it pop out.

This is a closed-door romance that’s full of southern charm and sweetness! The story of Asher and Ella turned out to be such a cute friends-to-more journey, where I deeply admired Asher and his “he fell first” characteristic 🥹 Their friends to lovers relationship seemed to come comfortably and naturally, and not forced or awkward for me. The setting is everything - I’m such a small town girly and this small town was loaded with cuteness. This story was emotional and the happily ever after will have your heart swooning and full!

I am a huge fan of Anne Marie Meyer. I even had the pleasure of meeting her at an event. Each time I pick up a book of hers to read, it just keeps getting better and better! She has a wonderful style of writing that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. In this book, we follow Ella and Asher and the bumpy road they take to find out what they truly want. This is a slow burn, friends to something more 😉 and all around heartwarming story. I highly, highly recommend this book!! It is a must read.

I stayed up until 3 a.m. last night, unable to put down Book 5 – I just couldn’t tear myself away! And now, I can’t stop daydreaming about Asher and Ella; they’ve been on my mind all day long. The thought of waiting until the end of May is almost unbearable. As soon as I got the email, I pre-ordered Honey Bee Library, and now I’m counting down the days until it lands in my inbox.

Oh Anne-Marie, my heart is full. I’ve loved every single book. Each chapter feels like an invitation to another breathtaking adventure on Harmony Island. ☀️💛

Sunny side up Diner is the 6th book in this series! There I was, minding my own business, when I stumbled onto the first 2 books. When this long holiday weekend began I decided to do a little reading on book 3 before I started on my extensive “to-do” list. But Harmony Island and its residents sucked me into a giant reading vortex. Now I’ve finished all 6 books and my “to-do” list is still embarrassingly long. Furthermore, I have to wait 3 months for my next fix! Thanks a lot Anne Marie Meyer! lol

I have followed this series since the Inn. I do love the characters and the stories are written so nicely. This one I found a little boring. I didn't get the follow up you usually get in the next book of the couples in the last book.

This book has 2 couples in it (which is normal). You don't hear anything about Boone from the last book. Kind of sad about that.

I do enjoy the small town vibe and cutesy love stories that these books bring. This one just wasn't catching my attention like the others did.

Asher & Ella
This is my favorite of the Sweet Tea & a Southern Gentleman books. The journey of these two is a great continuation from the previous book. Love the friend to more writing as it does not seem forced and flows really well throughout. Getting a small part of Willow & Cole in this one will lead to a good misunderstood enemy to more in the next. Highly recommend to read this series if you have not already!

(Really a 4.5 star but Goodreads won't let us do half)

Ella and Asher have been friends for life but Asher moves away to help a family friend. While he is out of town, he becomes engaged and Ella is forced to cover the story. Their friendship is definitely tested but the ending was very much like a Hallmark movie. A second story is done at the same time but the only connection is that they live in the same town. This second story will be worked out in the next book.

Sweet Tea & A Southern Gentleman is a must read series I have fallen in love with each character she introduces with each book. Sunnyside Up Diner is continuing to follow Asher and his best friend Ella. It also follow Willow who has come to Harmony Grove with her son for a new start. Not going to give any spoilers but oh that cliffhanger!!!
Hope you read it and enjoy it as much as I did.

Anne-Marie Meyer did it again! WhT an amazing book. If you share looking for YA or true romance with minimal spice, her writing is phenomenonal.

The book grabbed me right from the beginning! I love books that have lots of ups and downs, twists, and turns. We got to see the very beginning of a new relationship blooming at the end, and now I can't wait for the next book to watch their love grow.

Ella and Willow

Ella & Asher had been friends until Coralee shows up. Now Asher has left to visit Coralee's father and they meet up again.

Willow, on the other hand, is a single mother trying to raise her young son Jasper, when she meets the man who tells her he is part owner of the diner she inherited from her uncle which she knee nothing about.

The emotional rollercoaster this put me through?? Geez. Anne-Marie you’ve done it again. Book 6 was so freaking good. Poor Asher, his poor precious heart was going through the WRINGER. And freaking Ella??? Girl you had me so freaking mad, I felt like Edna Mode “Pull. Yourself. Together!”

Sunny Side-Up Diner by Anne-Marie Meyer is book 6/7 of a series. Oh man this book sucked me in right from the beginning! At one point, I had a WTF just happened as I didn’t see that coming!
