Journey through the stars with the "Firestorm" series, where each book is a gateway to extraordinary adventures and cosmic conundrums. Follow the Decosta family, seasoned warriors of interstellar conflict, as they navigate through a tapestry of alien landscapes and enigmatic space phenomena.
Attack is the second book in this series that is perfect for those who crave high-stakes battles, unexplored worlds, and encounters with bizarre lifeforms!
“Like many of my series, this one is an homage to a certain type of golden age space opera.” During that Golden Age most people read their science fiction n the pulp magazines. There were the headliners (Asimov, van Vogt, Heinlein, etc.) and then there were the penny-a-word writers who churned the stuff out. The 'Firestorm' series falls into the latter category. Halfway through the second instalment “Attack” I just gave up. It's one fight or flight after another with absolutely no character development. Can good men overcome the forces of evil - I fear I will never know. It's not bad, it's just so-so. 2.5 Stars, raised to 3 Stars.
It is quite interesting the way of first contact. Both Michael and his son Aaron got to meet aliens. Quite a few different ones, actually. Yes, communication proved to be a problem. Until it wasn't. Fighting with the aliens would be wrong and deadly for the handful Earthlings involved. Yet they had to. Trusting the lead of aliens is inadvisable. Yes, a couple did prove that wrong. Yet, treachery followed anyhow. And the Firestorm system has become one huge war torn cluster in the blink of an eye. I certainly felt exhausted by all the deadly action all caught up in Firestorm 2: Attack. Wow!
FIRE STORM 2 ATTACK is full of long deadly battles both personal and between spaceships. It’s sort of a shoot-em-up cowboys and Indians tale set in the future. There’s advanced technology without science and very little explanation of what’s really going on other than a military father trying to rescue his military son from unknown perils. Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book with no strings attached.
This book was hard to put down . I got so into it I stayed up until two am reading it and finally had to go to bed .This book had a great storyline and there was no gap between it and book one . Plenty of action and enough enemies to go around. On to book three.
Mikael wants out and is still being pursued by the gang warlord in the fortress. His two females, met in a previous battle, prove to be resourceful and on the same goal path as he is:" Get the heck out of there and continue the mission because, now, he has seen human life signs in a remote area of this planet.
In the meantime, Aaron has been shot at and down to the planet. He is angry and learns that the Queen who gave him the vessel to accomplish a mission, would be behind the whole thing.
Again, this author uses his gift to take the reader on a virtual adventure where treachery, savageness, lawlessness and lack of regard for human life are the norm for the father on one side and where helping the vulnerable as well as trying civility has no place and the price to pay is murder for the son on the other side. I personally find the book riveting, a page turner and look forward to read the next book in the series while I rate this book 5 stars and highly recommend it.
