Meet Priscilla, a normal girl who now has to live with her not-so-normal vampire family!

I was reading tactics when I stumbled upon an ad for this graphic novel. It looked really fun and I liked the taglines included. I had to check it out. I am glad I did because this was pretty fun and hilarious.

Priscilla is just a normal girl, but when her parents die she has to live with her vampire family! It is a big step for her and it is no wonder she feels lonely. Still she has spirit and I loved how she grabbed new things by the hand and tried it all out. I loved how sweet and kind she was. And I had some laughs at how her face was each time she spotted something new/something magical. Because there is a lot in this town. Not everyone is vampire, we see various other magical creatures/monsters wandering around. I do wonder if Priscilla has vampire blood in her given her mom, and if we will see that come into play. It would be fun if she would discover vampire powers.

I do wonder why the vampires didn’t understand why Priscilla wouldn’t eat anything. Hello, she is human. You guys also live with humans around you, you should know that they don’t eat hearts that are alive, batwings, or other stuff. It isn’t until later that they do try their best. Next to that, why didn’t they tell her about the special menus at school, or why didn’t anyone at the school do it? This poor girl was living on berries and water and maybe some strange milk. That is not healthy.

Thankfully Priscilla finds a wonderful friend, I really like the girl and hope we see more of her, and she introduces Priscilla to food that she can eat and the girls are quite a match.

I did like the diary parts, though given I read this one as an ebook I had a hard time reading the text at times.

I disliked Kitten so so much. She was just a horrible girl with a horrible attitude and her parents should be way more strict with her for pulling all the shit she did. Bullying is already not cool, but that she does that near the end was just WAY too much. Your cousin already has said she has no interest in your love interest, she told you she will stay away if you want, and more. She has no ill intentions, you should just stop being such a meanie.

The art was a bit over the top/exaggerated but still very fun.

I definitely want to read the next volume as well. This is just too much fun to read.

Dark moon diary review
Art: The art is adorable but highly exaggerated to the point where you can't really call this a manga more like highly exaggerated totally spies style meets well a highly exaggerated adorable style this is more comic then manga but the artwork is very smooth and simple cute and proper although it may not be for everyone B-

Characters: Priscilla in style looks a lot like clover from totally spies she is a stranger in a strange land trying to cope with living in a new town she is very much a downer thought out this story and her sterotype of "new girl" seems to dominate her personality thus there isn't much personality to work with this is a story driven piece of work not a character driven one. you have the basics of mean girl, pet, side kick etc this is like monster high but worse to wrap this up there wasn't much to the characters and they are very forgettable D

Story: So with the characters being sterotypes what does that make the story? awkward and confusing while this story will have you tear and laugh like it's suppose to but in the ways of substance there is none it jumps around to much. The story starts right in the thick of things with priscilla going to her new home and learning her family are vampires she then goes to a new school while "hilarity" ensues however it wasn't that funny this is a story where if you take away the funny bits and possibly the over dramatic bits your left with not much. Shallow one dementional characters no romance or subplots and the whole story is centered around how perscilla is the new girl and her cousin hates her and while that is all well and good it doesn't stand on it's own bringing up to many questions that -thanks to tokyopop's bankruptcy- will never be answered. little plot points like her wanting to join baseball, her new friendships, the vampire guy really go no where. The cousins actions towards perscilla go from basic mean girl to down right illigeal and cruel and little miss pink hair forgives her in the end? with no substance and no strong character points this story was as flat as the paper it was printed on. However it was fun and fast past and before you know it your at the end so there's a cookie point for it D-

Cover: The cover is a big fat lie What the public sees is this amazing and looks cute right? but what we really get is what is pictured here on this review see the big contrast? on the front is Priscilla with big exaggerated blue eyes and pink hair all in brown and odd patterns clinging to her diary with her uncle aunt cousin and pet in the back in hues of black and purple while her cousin looks vastly different here then she does on the other cover and the style takes a minute to get used to over all this is an adorable eye catching cover if this is the cover you see first and not the other one (which is what people might expect to see on the inside art or even when they barrow the book not realizing that the finish product looks nothing like that cover) C

Rating: T for teen

Company:Tokyopop (out of buisness)

My rating: 3 of 5 I didn't hate it it was fun and I did get though it kind of fast but at the same time it felt forced like the story wanted to be about family and the new girl but it felt tacked on highly tacked on and out of no where. the cover art is sad since it's not what I excpected and is a little two exagerated this was basicly a fluff story with no substance or real story just a quick read and while fun made me want more well drama good drama like why does the cusion hate her? and if she knew she was a human why did they feed her weird food? it's just to mind boggling and question raising

aside from the cheesy writing and the fact that the series is dead due to Tokyopop's terrible business practices, the first volume of the series was a great read. still a bit annoyed it's unobtainable on tokyopop's site. (read around 2010-2012 estimate. can't give estimated start and finishing date. around age 13-15)

I read this over and over and over back in middle/high school and couldn't find the name until today - yay! Such a cute story, and I love how adorable the characters are. 💗

Plot:
Priscilla's is a 15 year old California girl who's parents die and is sent to go live with her aunt in uncle out of the country. Little does she know that the place she is about to live in is populated by vampires, witches, werewolves, and other spooky sorts. And that her Mom was half vampire!!! Now, she has to learn to live to cope in a world that think she's the odd girl out when she used to be so popular back home.

My Review:
I seriously loved this book and I'm kind of sad that they didn't make more. Seriously, I thought there would be several in this series but I can only find this one book.

To me this was kind of like normal California Girl goes to Monster High.

It was super cute but a little choppy in the beginning because I was having a hard time understanding if Priscilla's Mom and Dad really died or if they just sent her away. That probably needed a couple more panels to make it more clear.

THe characters were very well drawn and I adored all the clothes they wore!! Super cute!!

There were funny parts here and there and I think the best character was Broonie the Boogey Monster that lived under Priscilla's bed. She resembled a cat with many legs and loved to eat socks and dust bunnies. Her favorite thing to eat was denim lint.

I don't think there was anything bad in this book. There might have been a swear word here or there. I honestly don't know why that was added but if you can get by that I think this book would be fine for an 11 year old.

Its super cute and I really wish I knew what was going to happen next. I can't imagine why there weren't more of these made. It was a fun read that definitely deserved to continue.

One of my first ever Tokyopop manga that I bought on my own while growing up, and it still holds both a place in my heart, as well as a place on my shelf a decade later. The manga is cute, hilarious, and pulls you in deeper than you would expect with the main character and what goes on around her. I really wanted the second volume to be printed so it can join volume 1, but if I have to buy it via Kindle I suppose I will. Either way, this is a great manga that should be given a chance, even if the current art cover Goodreads has is not the artwork on my volume.

This was adorable! I loved the way the characters were drawn! It's a shame they didn't make more in this series except for volume two I believe. The story is a bit choppy in the begining but it was still not bad I have read worse beginnings to stories.

I thought this one would be...a little...better, I guess? I don't know. I thought it was pretty boring. And considering they only made one volume and never finished it, it's a really bad one shot.
