Balarama is sure that Duryodhana, the Kaurava prince, with his skill in weilding the mace will be the ideal husband for his sister, Subhadra. The princess, however, loses her heart to a handsome recluse who visits their palace. Little does she know that he is none other than the Pandava prince, Arjuna, and that he reciprocates her feelings. It is left to her other brother, Krishna, to understand the situation and solve the dilemma.
Anant Pai popularly known as Uncle Pai, was an Indian educationalist and creator of Indian comics, in particular the Amar Chitra Katha series in 1967, along with the India Book House publishers, and which retold traditional Indian folk tales, mythological stories, and biographies of historical characters. In 1980, he launched Tinkle, a children's anthology, which was started under Rang Rekha Features, India's first comic and cartoon syndicate, that lasted till 1998, with him as the Managing Director.
Today, Amar Chitra Katha sells about three million comic books a year, in English and more than 20 Indian languages, and has sold about 100 million copies since it inception in 1967 by Anant Pai, and in 2007 was taken over by ACK Media.
This is a good book and it is very interesting. Some information on which goddess's avatar was Subhadra and why the goddess did that can be added because some people say that she is an avatar of Goddess Durga, who warned Kamsa that his destroyer survived elsewhere. Information can also be added on how Subhadra left her mortal coil. Apart from this, the book was great and I totally recommend it.
Subhadra must have been enterprising when Arjuna took her into his chariot - an ordinary girl would have been confused. Was it unethical? Maybe it would have disturbed her well-wishers! But her family members reacted will, especially, her father, which made her story and her wish,a success! We can clearly say that God was with her and allowed that things happened, this way!
