Schmowza! - FINN THE HUMAN
Jake the Dog and Finn the Human are up for another topological adventure! Not only they will run on a straight line for like 26326 miles, but they will also meet they alternative self and... travel through time? Mathematical!!!
I'm having so much fun reading this comic, I just can't have enough of the craziness, the puns, the nonsense! I guess this series has my same exact sense of humor 😂. I wish I had a giant mind which I could fill up with all the rad sentences pronounced by the characters in these volumes... Aw cabbage!

Finn and Jake have a time travel adventure, and it is totally goddamn amazing and hilarious and I love Ryan North so much. The alt-text cracked my shit up nearly every time. Once again, North proves that he is THE perfect choice for an Adventure Time comic, keeping the same sensibility as the TV show but using many gags that would only work in this medium. Plus, I applaud Kaboom!'s decision to include all the variant covers for every issue in the trades because, man, they are great.

Stuff I Read - Adventure Time Vol 2 Review
So after the events of the last volume, this new adventure takes Finn and Jake on a quest through time itself. Yes, time travel, the old trope of science fiction shows, which is what Adventure Time really is. Not set in a fantasy world really but in a distant future where humanity is on the verge of extinction, it's almost surprising that time travel hasn't featured into the television show more. But it arrives here in full force as PB builds a time machine and Finn and especially Jake muck things up.
Of course, there's also murderous Finn and Jake robots that BMO made and a future where the Candy Kingdom is conquered by machines and even a stop by the pilot episode of the show to steal Finn's sleeping bag. It's an interesting blend of homages and references to the show while also branching out on its own and starting to really create some new content. After the first volume which was a lot more about showing the toys in the sandbox, this second volume starts to come up with entirely original content.
It's nice to see the series start to really get moving, too, because it means that more weird and creepy things can happen. Adventure Time has always been something that was fun for everyone, including adults. The weirdness can act on multiple levels, and the comic captures that nicely, blending the juvenile humor in with the more mature aspects nicely. The art and visuals are all fun, and it all works together to create an effective whole.
The one thing that I had some problems with was the ending, the resolution to the whole time travel problem. Because for all the volume built up the threat of the Finn and Jake Robots, it seemed almost a cheat to have them defeated off panel. It wasn't' terribly done, but it lacked some satisfaction that I wanted. Of course, it could be that it's just setting up a future (haha, get it?) conflict because it's entirely possible that the Finn and Jake robots (or at least the Jake one) will be back later, but it was still a let down. The story finds a way to address that very thing, but it doesn't really solve it by drawing attention to it.
Still, the series continues to grow and evolve. I think it's doing a good job of charting its own territory and using the medium to tell stories that television wouldn't be a good fit for. It all works, and I think that's a very good thing, because fans of the show deserve good things, especially when the show doesn't come out very regularly for those not watching it when it airs (for shame on only have three complete seasons out when the show is putting out its sixth season...SHAME!). But yes, I am really liking this series, and so this second volume gets an 8.5/10.

These comics are math. I thought that this one was even better than the last one. I love all of the little details, like the little notes ate the bottom of pages. The humor in this series is excellent. Also, in this issue you get to see possible adult warrior Finn, Jake, and PB (QB), and they look awesome.

I think I liked volume 1 more, but this was super fun. Confusing time travel stuff for sure but Ryan North is great with the humor. I love all the little notes at the bottom. Forever here for adventure time.

The artwork and stories in this volume are as amazingly magical, adventure-filled, and fun as the cartoon episodes. The time-travel story in this book is wonderfully well done in a way that evokes Bill & Ted but is still very much Adventure Time. Be sure to read the footnotes that appear at the bottom of many pages; they are hilarious (but very hard to see; they're pale green on white; perhaps it's my color-blindness). Great stuff.

This is the second installment of the Adventure Time comic series and this issue we go traveling through time! Ryan North has done a really good job in not detatching this from the TV show as this really feels like an episode in the tv series. In some ways it's better because it feels like the stories go on for longer than the 15 minutes it's usually condensed into.
The story starts with Finn and Jake fighting over who will eat the delicious cupcake BMO has made. The adorable BMO challenges them to see who can go the furthest in a straight line in order to win the cupcake prize. We get to see some lovely scenes of the Land Of Ooo we haven't seen before because of this story and some parts that even Finn and Jake haven't encountered before. They come across a familiar looking treehouse inhabited by a strange character who appears to be an embodiment of Finn and Jake melded together. Our math pals help "Adventure Tim" fight the Mice King in a gross battle to save Princess Chewypaste. I hope Tim appears in later issues of this comic, as his character would make for some hilarious stories.
When that's all done and our pals are safely back home we find out that Princess Bubblegum has invented... A TIME MACHINE!!!!! Jake can't resist toying with the new invention that sends you back to the moment in time when it was created. He can't resist doing over his mistakes and after one big "Don't Worry, Do What You Like. I'll Reset The Timeline" Party, Jake finds out that Princess Bubblegum has destroyed the machine. Well she did tell them it was only for emergencies.
Jake tells Finn about his problem and with the help of NEPTR the pie throwing robot they fix the time machine. But when they press the button they're transported to the future! (Gasp! Oh no... but at least they have awesome buffed up future bodies!) They meet Queen Bubblegum and she explains to them that BMO created some creepy robot versions of Finn and Jake (which we see earlier on in a small comic strip at the bottom of the page), but the robots turned evil and now their lives consist of fighting the evil robots and trying to get the Land Of Ooo back to how it used to be!
The artwork in these scenes is really beautiful, the Candy Kingdom, Finn and Jake's treehouse and the entire land has been transformed into a mechanical dystopian world. Finn looks like he's walked out of a children's version of Terminator. They did a brilliant job of the whole comic here, the story was brilliant. It was really exciting to see our favourite characters in the future. There's been mention that Bubblegum and Marceline are lovers but Cartoon Network didn't want to go through with it in the tv show. I think there are some quite blatent references to it in the tv show and I think they've kept that in the comics as well, which is really sweet to see.
I won't spoil the ending for you though, you'll have to read it for yourself! I can't wait to read the next ones and see what new adventure we go on.

I picked this up along with Volume 1 because Adventure Time is most excellent and I wanted to read them both.
This volume tells the story of the time Finn and Jake ran into a hero from far away that lives an oddly similar life to their own, with some bizarre twists, and then a journey through time and a horrible robot apocalypse.
I thought this volume was even better than the last. They story was exciting and the content even more amusing than the last. During the time travelling portion of the story, they did some really awesome things to make references to the show itself without ever once breaking the flow of the story. I'll also make a note on something I forgot to mention last time concerning length. While I believe each volume covers four issues, I felt like there was a substantial amount of story and content and, while they are quick reads, they are satisfying nonetheless.
The art was delightful and they, once again, did some awesome things with the Adventure Time world (Let me lay a quick spoiler on you: Giant mechanical Princess Bumblegum and BMO. Yup.)
A quick word on the cover art in the back, they had some great covers, just like last time, and I'm particularly fond of Mike Krahulik's cover. I'm glad to have the opportunity to see the covers despite buying them in a single volume.
Overall, I loved it. I'm not sure where they are in the current comic run, but I plan to snatch up more of these as time goes on.

This issue is so ridiculous? And also so great? There was a darkness to this issue that I didn't expect, which started with the creepy-crawly feeling that BMO was up to something Very Not Good in making the Finn and Jake robots. That feeling only intensified the more I read, and it didn't even entirely fade once everything had been resolved.
I did love the focus on Princess Bubblegum's intelligence herein, and the blatant reference to her relationship with Marceline (!!!!), as well as the alteration in her relationship with Finn fifteen years in the future. This issue combined a lot of the more childish elements of "Adventure Time" with its more adult elements and blended them in such a way that even though everything was dark and kind of depressing, it also had a light and fluffy feeling to it that made me feel like everything was going to be okay.
That being said, the idea that such a future could exist for these characters, even on an alternate timeline, is painful. Really painful. And I didn't expect to experience that kind of pain with these comics, but I enjoyed it an awful lot.

So it's official that Princess Bubblegum is the best. In this volume anyway, where the other princesses were sadly not featured. But, Bubblegum is awesome in that a) she always knows what's going on even when encountered by Jake & Finn sent from the past and b) when evil robots attack time-travelling Finn & Jake she has a whole arsenal of lazer (read the book and you'll understand the spelling ;)) weapons to fight them with! And tank legs for Finn! And the robot suit BMO makes for her is pretty epic.
Also, this volume gets super-uber bonus points for Fractal Jake. Mathematical! That is all.

Continuing on from Adventure Time Vol. 1, Volume 2 presents us with another standalone story/collection of issues about our favorite hero pals in the Land of Ooo!
The time-bending adventures are great, and the puns are really off the bat. (Mr. North, you have outdone yourself. I applaud you.) I hollered and happily frolicked with our favorite fistbumping pals as they were sent careening through adventures and space-time!
Great book, plenty of laughs, and lots of ADVENTURE TIME!

Time travel stories are tops blooby. These comics have the ability to spend more time on a story than a 15 minute episode would allow, and it makes for great arcs. With this volume we get to see alternate timelines, (something that the show has proven very popular) and more great references to its animated counterpart. It’s light on minor characters but it’s full of great moments with BMO and Princess Bubblegum. Also it has killer robots.

Adventure Time and Time Travel?! Ryan North pushes the envelope so much that he's burst from its bottom and come out of the other side with a tale so outrageous it didn't belong anywhere but Adventure Time.

It was better than the first one. I have no idea how to feel about this book. I had mixed feelings for it. Although,it was confusing at times, I found this graphic novel way more entertaining than the first one.

Well there is a lot of time-travel, so that was really fun! I felt there were a lot of plot holes though.
