Those who knew the streets in Houston knew one thing for sure. The four brothers of the Kinsey Cartel were as crazy as hell. The oldest two, Tremell and Tristan, aka Tre and Tripp, might just have been the craziest of all. Crossing any of them could end your life, especially given Tre’s unique skills at murder. No one messed with them… until a pair of best friends, Shamar and Cyn, came in and turned Tre and Tripp’s world upside down. Shamar Parker, a quiet college girl, found herself caught up in the game, given to Tre as collateral. Tre’s captive would soon become his lover and he vowed never to let her go. With an attitude the polar-opposite of her best friend, Cyn Murray stormed into Tripp’s life, demanding the return of her friend. In the process, she also stormed into his heart and Tripp knew he had to lock her down. But the Kinseys’ old habits died hard and their lifestyle threatened to push the women they wanted most out of their lives. Can their love survive the streets?
That's me, in short. I've been writing since elementary school and won my first prize in seventh grade. I am a romantic at heart and love a happy ending! Join me on this writing (and reading) journey--you won't be disappointed!
My girl took me through so many emotions and I was obsessed every second of it from the first chapter. I was dying laughing, my heart was broken, and I was shocked all in the last few chapters of the book. I am running to book two.
Those Kinsey brothers were not to be played with. I have no clue which brother was my favorite so imma just choose em all right now, lol. Kidnapping somebody cause their brother is a thief is crazy. The way that storyline turned out had me shocked, in a good way.
My girl Shay had the cute nerdy girl thing going on but she was not the 1 nor the 2. I loved that even though she was little green she didn't let anybody play with her. I know imma sound crazy but I LOVED the fact that she met Tre the way she did because I feel like that might have been the only way to break her out of her shell.
Also, kidnapping...... may or may not my guilty pleasure trope. Cause the way this pulled me out of my slump is crazy.
Immediately reaching for book two because the ending had my mouth wide open. Now I have been holding off on reading Demon's Dream because I am trying to save it for my trip this summer but, I might have to move it up cause Ms. Kayson did not miss with this one.
I read the entire series. I think the 1st one isn’t my fav. To be fair I read this after “demons dream” and I looooved that book. Maybe that made it harder to get into. I just found it really hard to fall in love with the characters in the beginning. I was 30% in and almost DNF it. Things were just happening so fast. But once you learned the characters it got better. Boom 2/3 really saved the series.
This is a book filled with instant love stories. With these stories we have people just getting to know each other. some things that blew me is Shemar being clueless about sex in this day and age as an adult woman. Even if you're a woman who holds on to your virginity you can still : things. Also, she's supposed to be clueless about designers but she knows Louis Vuitton but not Balenciaga
I hateeeeeeee books that jumble a million different povs in a single book.. Like pleaseeeeeeee separate the couples to their respective books it's mad annoying because I can’t keep up with everyone’s pov. But all that aside, it was a great book, Tremell was not playing about Shamar. .........................................................................
This is one of those stories where you can’t get into it cause the characters reactions to stuff don’t make sense or are unrealistic. Then there are way too many POVs and everyone is hit with instalove/lust or instant obsession. I read Demons Dream and really liked it but I just can’t get into this one.
“Thank you Elle Kayson,” we all say in unison. She knows how to write an unhinged man and idk what my interest in that says about me. The male main character is always the dumbest guy alive in her books though, I like his crazy but he just does dumb sh-t and tries to spin it later. Pissing me off. I also don’t like that the MC is this damsel in distress quiet girl, even when she got mad she still didn’t do enough for me. I wanted her to turn ole girl to dust. Tristan/Tripp is more my speed, but with the cliffhanger at the end… 😀 anyway. I really applaud her for being able to write multiple love stories in one book and they’re all equally entertaining.
Spice is really good, but some of it made me cringe. Men calling themselves daddy gives me the ick a little bit. 4/5 🌶️ though!
Rating 3.75 The ending definitely has me ready to see it Chantel is going to end up back with tamir. All the T names definitely got a little confusing but the story was good. Had me ready to see what was going to happen next. One thing elle gone do is write a book about an obsessed man that don't give no f*cks about anyone else lol.
Oh… This was a lot! The DRAMA!!!! Plus I love a good kidnapping, instant love and forced proximity trope. There is something about an unhinged man that will keep me coming back for more every single time. Those Kinsley brothers are something else. I often say the crazier the better, which would definitely be Tre but Tripp was my favorite.
Dang!! Straight to the point and I loved it. Felt like a Tubi movie, the actual good one This book was so juicy and then left me on a cliffhanger Time for book 2
4.5 ⭐️ Elle will do it every time. It took me a while to read this because I loved Demons Dream so much and I didn’t want her writing to be a one off. Elle let me know she does this, I had nothing to worry about.
What I liked: - I usually don’t like multiple POV but this was done expertly - An unhinged man in my books, in real life, nah, but here in book land I’m for it - Tremell is bae. I love when a man can only stay calm in his woman’s eyes - Writing the the villain cuz Katerah need her ass whooped!
I really enjoyed this book. Very well written, great storyline, and character development. These characters had my attention from beginning to end. Shay and Cyn go through it with Trey and Tripp, but it isn't all bad. These brothers give hard-core, not to be messed with, but when it comes to the woman in their lives, you get a softer side of them slowly showing. I love that you get a mix family, drama, suspense, and danger throughout this book. That cliffhanger definitely cleared up my suspicion with Chantel. Can't wait to read what's next for these characters in book 2.
I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed Elle Kayson 's writing!
After a 700+ page turning blockbuster like Demon's Dream, I almost wish the writer had dont the same here instead of breaking this series up into 3 books.
However, I was drawn in by her colorful characters. I loved me some Trell!! He is sarcastic and funny to read. I found myself laughing and talking to myself more often than I care to admit.
oh miss kayson, your pen game is really unmatched ✍🏽🔥.
from page 1 i was immediately pulled into this hood love story. is it conventional? no. but was it good asf? yes!! all the men in this book are deranged but i ate it up so what can i say.
the plot, the characters and the character development, the drama, everything was a 10.
and now i’m mad because that cliffhanger was crazy and now i gotta find out what happens next bc wtffff.
I'm not sure how i feel about this book. We follow 2 couples which kinda made the book confusing. The plot was good but the conversations and banter seemed childish. It was also insta love and just a little chaotic with a lot of moving parts. I'm glad I'm reading this before Demons Dream. The book had potential, but the writing often leaned into cliché, and the narrators didn’t always match the tone—except during the sex scenes, where the performances felt more natural.
Omg the mess is messy and I love everyone !!!! Tre & Shay!!!! I hope they can fix things. That’s a good man Savannah. Lmao ….Yesssss .I need Chantal to not have don’t what I think she did. She cold blooded.
Loved the story it just doesn’t feel well written. Especially in comparison to demons dream, it felt rushed and kinda predictable. Hoping it gets better in the sequel!
This is a dark romance with a lot going on. It’s the story of 4 brothers embroiled in the criminal underworld with 3 of them (Tre, Tripp and Mir) navigating complex romantic relationships with FMCs Shamar, Cyn and Chantal/Du Bois. This book focuses mainly on Tre and Shamar, and Tripp and Cyn’s relationships. There’s a lot of youthful immaturity, poor communication and misunderstandings embedded in the plot but in a way that’s more readable frustrating than annoying enough to slam the pages shut. You can empathize with the characters. Super excited to read the next book.
This didn’t have to be a Book 2 but clearly someone told Elle Kayson about those 600-pagers…
I’m deep into this story now. Then the way it ended I have to read book 2 tonight. Overall great read, fast paced and everything I love about a Elle Kayson book.
I had to explain why this book is a 2 star, even though I usually don’t write reviews. I listened to the audio and it was awful! I did not like the narrators. If I read it, it would have been close to a 3. Also, I didn’t love how quickly these girls fell in love with these crazy dudes. This story is messy and the different POVs were a bit much for me. I read another review and it said the rest of the books were better than 1, so if I run out of books to read, I’ll circle back to this series. 🙃
