Maureen Mary was born on 1945 at Port Macquarie, a popular seaside town on the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales, Australia, and is the youngest of four children. Her sister was the novelist Wendy Brennan (Emma Darcy). Her father was a country school teacher and brilliant sportsman. Her mother was a talented dressmaker. When Miranda was ten, her father was transferred to Gosford, another coastal town in the countryside, much closer to Sydney. After leaving her convent school, she briefly studied the cello before moving to Sydney, where she embraced the emerging world of computers. Her career as a programmer ended after she married, had three daughters and bought a small acreage in a semi-rural community. Following this, she attempted greyhound training, as well as horse and goat breeding, but was left dissatisfied.

Miranda yearned to find a creative career from which she could earn money. When her sister suggested writing romances, it seemed like a good idea. She could do it at home, and it might even be fun! It took a decade of trial and error before her first romance, After the Affair, was accepted and published. At that time, Miranda, her husband Tony, and her three daughters had moved back to the Central Coast, where they could enjoy the sun and the surf lifestyle once again. Not long into her writing career, Miranda committed herself to writing a six-book series entitled, The Hearts of Fire, with a deadline of just nine short months. Bravely, her husband left his executive position to stay home and support Miranda’s writing career. He learned to cook and to clean, two invaluable household skills. Numerous successful stories followed, each embodying Miranda’s trademark style: pacy and sexy rhythms; passionate, real-life characters; and enduring, memorable story lines. She has one credo when writing romances: Don’t bore the reader! Millions of fans world-wide agree she never does.

Miranda was the sister of the late author, Emma Darcy.

This was a very interesting read especially because hero and heroine were both equals. They were both stubborn, temperamental, passionate and gorgeous.
Hero and heroine meets at an event one year back and he hits on her. She sharply declines and put him in his place. Saying she will never willingly dine with him. One year later she put herself on auction for an evening for the benefit of children cancer charity which is her baby. And he bids on that for 5 million, astonishing everyone. And it only gets crazier from there on.
I enjoyed their head butting too much. It was very amusing to watch how the heroine tried to resist him so much and how that in turn frustrated hero.
But the twist in final chapters was a little serious for HP in my opinion. Especially the trauma heroine went through. Nevertheless I enjoyed the epilogue very much.
Recommended.

This is part of the THREE RICH MEN trilogy by Lee but can be read alone. It's the third book. I liked the first and especially the second book Mistress for a Month (see my review) a lot more personally.

The heroine is one of those type who thinks she's frigid until she meets the hero but we all know that Great Sex = Love, right?

Tropes: There is no such thing as a frigid woman

I have mixed feelings for this battle-of-wills romance.

Pros
A well-written conclusion to the series? Check.
Passionate sex? Check.
A reasonably smitten hero? Check.
A bitchy heroine who kept the hero on his toes (and back)? Triple check.

But unlike Charmaine I wasn't completely sold . . . on the romance that is, and felt the story lacked an emotional punch. It seemed as if Ali and Charmaine fell in love as a result of their time in bed together more than anything else. I also felt their characters needed more development. Charmaine had legitimate reasons for keeping her distance from Ali, but they weren't revealed until the last third of the story. Charmaine's Ice-Queen character would have been better served if her motivations had been introduced earlier, allowing the reader to see more of her vulnerability. As for Ali, his psyche and past were briefly explored but not nearly enough to render him fully three-dimensional.

This started out good and with drama!
Why is the h so against sex?
Why is the H so interested her?
But then it fell flat. The supposedly sex shy h falls at the first hurdle. I never got why she kept saying that she didn't like sex. What that had anything to do with anything. especially since she said that she had had lovers but she really disliked sex. Then we find out that
The story didn't go deep enough. I agree with what other reviewers said, that it felt like the h equated sex with love. And the H's ILU came out of the blue.

Answered questions from book two. (Rico's story). The amount of money he was willing to pay sounded ridiculous to me. I loved the rest of the story. Ali saw Charmaine one year ago and that was it for him. He wanted her. Love at first sight. (took him that long to realise it). Charmaine achieved a lot considering her earlier experiences.

Charmaine (an unfortunate choice as I totally dislike this dated name,) and Ali's romance is a rocky road, but their journey is simply fabulous. Ali is by far the more attractive character - as Charmaine’s aggression and rudeness is totally over the top and exaggerated and initially I disliked her intensely and for a very long time. She was really quick to jump to unfounded conclusions about Ali and seemed to believe she could be as rude and ill-mannered as she liked despite the £500 million for charity.

Of course, as the book goes on, Charmaine becomes a more sympathetic character and then I simply enjoyed the preposterous, wild ride.

I felt the resolution was far too abrupt and lacked depth, so I deducted one star. I liked the appearance of Rico and Renee but Charles and Dominique only got a brief mention. I would have liked to see them reappear too - so another star off I’m afraid. A really strange mix and it seems desperately dated - but an enjoyable escape from the real world. 😉

inner monologues got me skipping pages... Charmaine-hate the name- is put off men and playing hot&cold, and panics cause he makes her hot and bothered, personally I would prefer if approach was different and she looked forward to rediscover passion... methinks no man would be so patient. OK so heroine has a strong reason, but if I had anything better I wouldn't have finished and it gets a bit better halfway and though I'm not fan of slapping etc.in novels I loved this:
'Kiss me.' he whispered. 'Kiss me where you hit me.'
from reading second book I know he brings different woman weekly to his 'property' so this whole thing bout heroine being special fails-it is mentioned that he didn't for some time but still, maybe I'm disappointed cause Ali was promising character from previous book and he's hurt in past... oh, so that u know according to this book size does matter ;) in every way!

ADORO!!!

RECOMENDADÍSSIMO!!!

More of a C-
This is the third in the trilogy where Mistress for a Month is the 2nd book (can't remember if I've read the first.)
Well written, very sexy, and everything you'd expect good-wise from a Miranda Lee... but unfortunately the romance wasn't quite believeable to me.
Yes, I can see the hero and heroine getting together, but not in a week. No them falling in love, especially since he became obsessed a year ago but he didn't *know* her - and her, being rather ... bitchy much of the time. (With good reason.)

But still - I felt they needed more "getting to know each other" to really make it work. There were some plot holes which were a little disappointing.

My first book by Miranda Lee,and wow,i LOVE IT!!!

I have come to adore romance novels with Heroes as a Sheikhs when i first read the classical romance "The Sheikh" which is one of my favourites ever.

"Sold to the Sheikh" didn`t dissapoint me with it`s plot, romance and characters.I just LOVE Arabian as heroes, cuz i also think they are handsome in real life (hehe). And i totally loved this hero,Prince Ali.He is a wild man by nature and is a man all women wish for.And the famous model Charmaine, the heroine,is the one that got his full interest.I enjoyed their characters, feelings and the dialuge,it made me laugh sometimes. The romance is the best, and i enjoyed everything of it!

Charmaine a supermodel and Ali is a prince of Dubar. He takes one look at her and has to have her yet for Charmaine she feels threatened by him and wants nothing to do with him. But he wins a contest so he gets one date with her that turns into a weeklong bet. But the thing is they get to know one another especially Charmine who has some secrets that no one really knows about she had a baby but she died when she was young.

i absolutely loved how ali was besotted wid charmaine! though offering 500M dollars for sex was over the top and very much unbelievable! ali had a case of love at 1st sight though he did not realise it at the time. i minused 1star bcoz charmaine equated mind-blowing sex wid love, or atleast dats the impression she gave.

Very. Happily ever after

This was a sweet book that started out strong and limped to the end. It was rushed and it could have been so much stronger! I'm not giving up on this talented author! Great potential
