WHAT NEXT? is a colorful board book that introduces the concept of actions and movement. Each page has a baby or animal who is getting ready for an action, followed by them performing the action (such as pushing, jumping, flying).
What I loved: This is full of simple but very bright and colorful illustrations that will grab infant's attentions. The illustrations help to show the before and after or during of an action with repetitive and simple phrasing of "Ready" and the action word. This book moves as quickly as babies would like, which allows them to go at their own pace.
Final verdict: WHAT NEXT? is a colorful and vibrant board book that helps introduce actions to babies with attention-grabbing imagery and simple words.
Please note that I received an ARC. All opinions are my own.
In this colorful board book youngsters are presented with six different scenarios through images and the same word--"Ready"--on the left-hand page. The idea here is that they will need to think about the word and the scene and predict what might happen next. This skill is important to future literacy development while focusing on developing visual skills. The scenes feature frogs, birds, and youngsters with different objects. Billed as being "designed by experts, written by scientists, tested by babies!" (back cover), the book and series will prove useful for parents and caregivers as they work with little ones on sequencing and predicting. There are four books in the series so far.
A simple board book for very young children the 2 page spreads helps them explore steps in progression from one action to the next. These involve children as well as animals.
Brightly colored illustrations will hold their attention to focus attention on the actions shown.
