Mercy Asked Mercy Found

Rate this book
It seemed sometimes like God had a mean streak. That was what Bev had said to Eloise. But Eloise knew none of this mess was God's fault.

Yes, life had been unfair, had taken too much from her. But her efforts to claw back what she could, well, they weren't honest. And she had been caught.

Was there no safe place to go where people did not think her pitiful. Or worse?

There was. Even if it existed in the 18th century. And there, in the journals of Louisa Roberts, she had found another horse-crazy, motherless young woman, a big shaggy dog, a special horse, and a handsome Hessian prisoner-of-war. And although they no longer lived, alongside them was a living man, a man who was the guardian of the journal, who walked the very floors they walked, the man who welcomed her, restored her, Dabs Carter of Ivy Creek Plantation.

But the time had come to return to Atlanta, it was time for full disclosures. This mess was all hers to clean up. Forgiveness was not hers to give.

It was time to ask for mercy.

Fascinating Book

I loved this book and the previous one. So many great characters, a very loveable genius dog, beautiful horses, and an adorable kitten. These books alternated between the late 1870's and the present and the author tied them together beautifully. I was utterly enthralled. I recommend this book to anyone, but it's a must for history buffs, animal lovers, and readers who really engage with the characters. I couldn't put it down!

I enjoyed this book and how it picked up from the first one, Betwixt. Who doesn’t like stories that involve animals? They make the book with how she brings out each of their personalities. I enjoyed the historical fiction portion as well and actually learned a lot….seems like she did a lot of research for this one! Good book.

enjoyed this book

While it felt a bit less thorough than the first book, and a bit more rushed, I still enjoyed every page. I love Karen McGoldrick's language and her careful choice of words that are picked just right to depict nuances and connotations.

Outstanding!

Masterfully told story that intertwines historical fiction with modern day drama and romance. An addictive page turner, with characters to fall in love with. I didn’t want it to end!

This one deserves a 10!

This book was awesome even if it did make me cry in several places! What a storyline! I hope they find another desk hidden with more to the story just so there's another book! Brilliant writing!

Loved this book

I savored this book. I only allowed myself to read a few chapters a night. Sadly I finished it. I hope there is a sequel.
