The Ajax Way: How One Football Club Defines the Modern Game
In 1894 a group of friends had an idea and it led to the creation of Ajax, a football club for the people of Amsterdam. More than one hundred years later and that club has become an institution for youth development, a school of ideas that underpins the modern game and a club synonymous with the Total Football ideal.

Lettura obbligatoria per chi come me , da una decina d’anni, supporta dall’Italia questo meraviglioso club.
Certe parti , specie quelle sul grande Ajax degli anni 70, erano già piuttosto conosciute , ma di certo non mi è dispiaciuto approfondirle ulteriormente. Mi sono soffermato particolarmente sui passaggi dei primi del 900 , dalla fondazione del club agli albori e i primi anni .
La parte finale , specie nei passaggi relativi ai grandi club , Man Utd, City, Barca e Bayern , un po’ si trascina ma a parer mio il riferimento era necessario .
Consigliato a qualsiasi appassionato di calcio , obbligatorio per chi è interessato alla sua storia.

The book captures quite well an overview of Ajax’ history and its successes. However, it also contains several typos, notably the name of Edwin van der Sar (“Saar” used on several occassions) and “Betondorp”.
The timeline is sometimes blurry because we jump back and forth which left me puzzled sometimes which trophees were won.
