Clairvoir Castle Romances #5

Lady Ivy and the Irishman

Rate this book
Bound by her family’s expectations, Lady Ivy never though freedom would come in the form of a charming Irish baron with a penchant for flirtation.

Lady Ivy Amberton, weighed down by her family’s expectations, has often struggled to navigate the complexities of high society—until the arrival of Lord Dunmore, a dashing Irish baron whose open charm and spirited view of life turn her world upside down. As Ivy grapples with the unfamiliar thrill of attraction, she is compelled to reconsider her understanding of what it means to truly be herself.

Teague Frost, whose tenure in Parliament has cemented his views on the rigidity of the English, finds himself unexpectedly captivated by Ivy's intelligence and grace. Her sincerity challenges his prejudices and sparks an affection he had not anticipated. Together, they explore the surprising depths of their connection, each learning to appreciate new truths about themselves and the world.

As their relationship deepens, Ivy and Teague are confronted with the profound implications of their attraction. Can Ivy embrace her true desires and the possibility of a love that defies her family’s plans? Will Teague allow his unexpected love to transform him, fighting for a future that honors both his heritage and his heart?

Set against the elegant backdrop of Regency England, "Lady Ivy and the Irishman" is a tale of self-discovery and unexpected love.

I got an arc and thank the author and BookFunnel.
My opinion is my own.

I didn't really feel a connection between Ivy and Teague, not until the end, sadly.
I felt the author tried too hard, I felt no sparks, no longing... feelings I've come to love and expect from Sally Britton. I adore so many of her books, and this series is my favorite series by her. I rated the previous books 4 and 5 stars, but this installment didn't touch me at all.
It may be me and my mood, I don't know.

I don't want to rate this lower than 4 stars because there's nothing blatantly wrong with it and I adore the whole series so much, (beside a chapter I didn't really care for, I'll explain later) so I won't rate the book at all.

Now to that chapter..

(MINOR SPOILERS!)
The MCs Ivy and Teague both felt immidiately attracted to each other. They got engaged after only a few weeks of knowing each other, Teague was rather sure they could grow fond of each other or even get to love each other with time, and Ivy was happy, too, although their engagement was more practical on both sidesthan affectionate.
This was discussed and thought about a lot.
It baffled me, though, how Ivy reacted just a few days after having accepted Teague's proposal. A Lord Martin whom she never had met before was introduced.
"As their eyes met, Ivy was taken aback by the immediate and unwelcome sense of connection" ??
He presented "unwelcome yet undeniable intrigue"??
What??
"The conflict within her was sharp as the swords displayed on the Guard Room's walls." ??

This part was really strange, and felt totally anticlimactic.

Ivy eventually got over her attraction to Lord Martin but in the end I never got over her being torn if she really should choose Teague or not.

I can't recommend Sally Britton's books enough, espescially this series is awesome, only this single installment fell flat for me.

Absolutely adored this story! Ivy is English, and is being directed to marry by her half brother and his wife. She and her sisters go to visit Clairvoir Castle where she meets Teague, again after a previous quick meeting. Teague is Irish and a flirt. He is at Clairvoir to visit his sister and his brother-in-law. When he and Ivy are reunited he finds himself intrigued by her. They get to know each other for who they really are without putting on a performance and like one another very much.
I love Ivy and Teague so much. They have great chemistry and Teague’s flirting is just great! I loved how much they cared about and supported each other. I also loved seeing characters from previous books make an appearance. Overall, a great clean romance and I definitely recommend!

I got this book as an ARC, and what a sweet treat it was! Our main character, Lady Ivy, had a deadline to meet. She must find a husband by year’s end or risk her brother (👎🏼) choosing one for her, but when her path crosses with an Irishman…they make a deal using their heads, but will their hearts follow?

“Because a lady who isn’t content to look at the world the way it is, but wants to see it through the lenses of what it could be, is a lady worth knowing. In this Irishman’s opinion, anyway.”

This was a such a SWEET, no spice, read. I loved how Ivy developed over time AND I absolutely adored the lack of miscommunication between the main couple- it was so refreshing to see adults acting like dare I say- adults?! 😂

I was almost certain that there was no way to outdo previous books in the series, and yet Sally Britton has delivered again! And with a marriage of convenience too!

We were given glimpses of Isleen’s brother in the previous book but I had no idea what to expect from him. He’s kind, considerate, practical and extremely witty. And oh so swoony with his Irish brogue *fans self*

My absolute favorite part is when he chooses to place Lady Ivy’s desires to rescue and protect her sisters over his desire to rescue her from an awkward (and verbally abusive) situation . It shows the importance he places on her opinions and values as well as his willingness to come alongside her as a partner.

Isleen, his sister, makes plenty of appearances too, and having been with the series for quite some time now I absolutely adore that we get to see all the couples from previous books (and a few mischievous younger siblings as well)

Lady Ivy is so self-sacrificing and I feel her pain so deeply as she tries to please her guardians. It’s heart wrenching to see the life that she has had to become accustomed to, and yet it makes the happily ever after so worthwhile.

Lady Ivy‘s younger siblings are so funny and I cannot wait until the next book and the couple that is hinted at the epilogue of this one!

I love Lady Ivy and Teague! They are such an adorable couple! It was so fun watching their friendship and courtship and love develop. Especially knowing Ivy has not been allowed to fully be herself, just expected-to the extreme-to follow all strictures of society! I loved when she and Teague met and watching him encourage her and help her come out of her shelf and to fully bloom as the beautiful and sweet person that she is. As well as a strong and courageous one!

The settings were delightful! I wanted to be there exploring the castle and all of the gardens. I read this sitting outside with my flowers and it was delightful!

I really loved the theme that Sally Britton wrote into this story! It was beautiful! And so perfectly woven into Lady Ivy's story. I just couldn't stop grinning while reading it. And Teague was just adorable! His love and care for Ivy and how it shone through in everything he did towards her and her sisters and family. His Irish brogue and his flirting and charm were the icing on the cake!

You won't want to put this one down so make sure to make some room in your schedule for lots of reading time!!!

Content: Delightfully clean and wholesome!

I cannot gush enough about this book, I already know it is one of the highlights of my reads this year!

Sally is an absolute master at drawing you into the lives of the characters, making you feel like a beloved family member and making you fall head-over-heels for each member of the family. I always look forward to revisiting the characters that I fell in love with in previous books in the series and this book is no exception.

Teague and Ivy are just adorable, you can feel the connection from the first moment they are together. I never would have guessed the absolutely charming path their story would have taken, I wish it never ended! Now, please excuse me as I am off to go to Ireland to find my very own Teague!

A quite sweet novel. This is not a marriage of convenience story, but it sort of heads in that direction with an engagement of convenience – except, the leads obviously really like each other, are comfortable with each other, and communicate quite well, so that heads off a lot of the drama that might otherwise come up. This is, after all, part of the low-drama, low-stress Clairvoir Castle series, ideal for weary readers who want to spend time in a safe and secure fictional world where the angst doesn't get too high.

Once again, Sally Britton has woven a beautiful tale with loveable (and a few hateable) characters in the lovely backdrop of Clarvoir Castle. Lady Ivy Amberton and her sisters live under the overly critical care of their half brother and his wife. When their distant cousin Lady Josephine invites them to spend the summer at her parents' castle, they gladly accept. To Ivy's surprise, the brother of the future duchess, who has also come to spend part of the summer at Clarvoir, is none other than the Lord Dunmore whom she chanced to meet in London a short time before.

Teague Frost, Lord Dunmore, has for some time thought of English ladies as stiff and formal, is intrigued by Lady Ivy, who challenges his former views regarding the English nobility.

Will the two of them find love in the shadows of Clarvoir Castle, or will Ivy's brother's unexpected arrival, with a prospective husband for Ivy in tow, destroy their change at happiness?

I was honored to receive an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I just love Sally Britton's books. They're low angst, beautifully told stories without miscommunication! Yet they make me feel all the feelings, and I ALWAYS end up closing the book (or touching the last page on my kindle) with a smile on my face and in my being.

Lady Ivy is a wonderfully unique ward of her brother and his wife, who have stifled her for far too long. Lord Teague is the baron who sees her-who REALLY sees her. I am such a sucker for that microtrope (ok, I don't know if it actually IS a microtrope, but I'm calling it one): where the MMC truly sees the FMC.

I don't want to say too much more about this, because I don't want to give anything away, but their first meeting, and then their second? Serendipity indeed.

“Everything about you, your life, your heart, matters. Especially to me.”

* Barely in and I’m already giggling 🤭
* Ahh I feel so sad for Ivy and mad at her dumb guardians
* I love Teague so much already hehe

This story was just so overwhelmingly sweet. Like.. I kept waiting for some other big obstacle to come along for Ivy and Teague. And it didn’t. But there was just so much realness to them and their story. And I so enjoyed that.

Ivy has been belittled and kept from being who she truly is. But she is lovely and has such a good heart. And I loved seeing her grow back into herself.

And Teague. Oh my heart. He’s such a sweetie. He’s just so genuinely good and loving. He does his best to help Ivy settle back into herself and who she truly is.

And can we just talk about the nod to love languages there toward the end? Everyone receives love, appreciation, and reassurance differently. And it’s so important to learn that for our loved ones so we can help them feel our love!

Also, Sally Britton is just a lovely human being. I haven’t read all of her books (yet) but I always come away from each one feeling like the world is a little brighter. 💜

I’m so grateful to Sally for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Love the cover!
A sweet, strong story of being yourself and finding the person who loves you for it. Love how gentle yet strong Teague is.
I could tell there were books before this one, but it was well written so I only found myself curious to go read the others, not like I missed anything or couldn't enjoy the story.
A first with this author. Can't wait for Juniper's story!
Nothing offensive

This might be my favourite in the series so far. Soo much fun and also quite surprising in places.

Spoilers maybe.

Ivy and Teague meet by chance at a play and they're both immediately transfixed by each other. And it was believable. This is where I give my requisite spiel that I don't at all mind instant connections, but I as the reader need to actually buy into it and not just be told to believe that the two characters have this inexplicable connection. All this to say that I was on board with Ivy and Teague from minute one.

Anyway, Ivy has an oppressive sister-in-law and a checked out brother, so Ivy and Teague don't really have a chance to be properly acquainted. They conveniently meet again when they both show up at the Clairvoir Castle for a house party (Teague's sister is married to the Duke's heir, and Ivy is a distant relative), and the two are even more smitten with each other. And here's where the story took a surprising turn to me. Ivy and Teague's reunion happened really early into the book, so I was expecting a super insta-lovey (but in a way I was on board with), sweet unfolding of their story. I actually couldn't anticipate what the story would be about, which was a nice subversion.

So colour me further surprised when we then pivot into a ....marriage of convenience? Ivy and Teague are getting along super well and they're ridiculously shippy. Their budding friendship leads Ivy to confide in Teague that her brother is pressuring her to get married. Teague then reasons that he would like to be married, and why can't they solve each other's problem. And they're both like, yes, we have friendship, why can't we form a solid partnership based on respect and kindness. And I'm there in the background like.......'aren't the two of you in love? do you not know that you're in love? because you are..so what's "convenient" about this?' Anyway, this might not make sense, but it was easily my favourite aspect of the book, it just kept surprising me.

What follows may be predictable, but was so so satisfying.
A gentle romance for sure, but one of my favourite reads this year.

It’s always good to return to Castle Clairvoir with Sally Britton! Lady Ivy and the Irishman is a sweet romance that will make readers smile. If you are looking for a kinder, gentler world to escape into, might I suggest a visit to Clairvoir Castle? I have loved every single story in this series and Lady Ivy and the Irishman is no exception! Ivy has been beaten down by her controlling sister-in-law, but a chance meeting with a handsome Irishman inspires her to take a chance and be herself. Teague is so accepting and supportive, as well as charming! I loved the connection between them. Romance readers won't want to miss this sweet courtship filled with uplifting messages. From the cover to the dedication to the last page, Lady Ivy and the Irishman was absolute perfection and a must read this summer!

*I received an e-arc from the author and publisher via Bookfunnel for review. Thank you for the opportunity. All thoughts are my own*

I read this book without having read any of the previous books in the series, and I’m so glad that I did! I’m happy that I discovered this author on Instagram and decided to give her books a chance. Sally did not disappoint, and I would definitely love to continue reading the series (and start from the beginning if possible) and other books that she writes.

I found this story to be refreshing and just what I needed when I read it. It’s a sweet romance that had me smiling when I finished. I recommend to those who like regency romances and a happily ever after.

Sally Britton’s writing contains characters you love to get more of and emotions that leave you moved, filled, and smiling.

I love her writing, it is witty and captivating. And I loved how often she worked in the lens metaphor, it added incredible depth to the story.

Teague is both swoony and relatable, attentive and genuine. I loved how he unabashedly let Ivy be herself and included her sisters in his orbit.

Ivy was both strong and vulnerable and such a well written fmc.

I especially loved that Lord Martin was a good man, perfectly amiable, just not for her. And I would love it if he got his own story!

All around an absolute delight to read.

“I never imagined love could feel like this. Like home. Like the safest harbor after the longest storm.”

This delightful story will whisk you away to a world of heartfelt romance and sweet Regency charm. In a world bound and weighed down by great family expectations, lovely Lady Ivy Amberton has been stifled far too long from being her true self. But her dearest wish, an escape for herself and her sweet younger sisters, an opportunity for them to experience freedom for the first time in a very long time comes for the summer at a lovely castle and surrounded by dear people. Lord Teague Dunmore, a dashing and kind Irish baron whose open charm and spirited view of life will turn Lady Ivy’s world completely upside down. As dear Ivy grapples with the unfamiliar thrill of attraction, she is greatly compelled to reconsider her understanding of what it means to truly be herself…

“You’ve changed my world, Not just by loving me, but by being you. By being the one who sees past the surface, beyond what things are, to how they make you feel. To what they could be.”

Set against the classy backdrop of Regency England, Lady Ivy and the Irishman, is a beautiful tale of self-discovery and lovely unexpected love. It’s a story that will pull on your heart strings and leave you completely grateful for the opportunity to have been enveloped in such care. @authorsallybritton I am such a fan of your writing and this story. I loved how you so beautifully and precisely weave the importance of being oneself, and that unconditional love, acceptance, encouragement make all the difference throughout this story. You delightfully filled this story with such endearing characters, a charming romance, with swoony banter, and humor. It’s a story that will have you smiling and better off than you were before. This dear story is worth the read, anytime!❤️

Don't mind me as I process all my thoughts because this book left me with a book hangover... twice! I love all of the
Clairvoir Castle romance books by Sally and with each one, I just keep getting more excited for the next one!

Now on to business. Sally wrote this book in such an elegant way. Bringing two cultures from a different time and then adding politics into the mix has to be hard! I could really tell that Sally did a TON of research for this book. She then proceeded to write a romance that had everything beautifully balanced out and enough romance to make an elephant swoon! Ask my hubby. I was very vocal when reading this book. Both times. I reread it today, so it was nice and fresh in my head.

I honestly don't know how Sally does it, but she writes just in such a beautiful elegant way. Not only did I feel like I was part of the story, but I also felt each touch, each feeling, smelled each flower and scent. Sally has been one of my favorite authors ever since I read her first book, and this is a huge reason why. Other than that, if you have ever met her, you know she is the sweetest woman in the world!!!

Teague and Ivy were a power couple from the very beginning. She brought out Teague's flirtation personality and calmed his worries. Teague was a safe place for Ivy and made her feel loved for being her authentic self. Something that struck me really hard. We all need a family like the Clairvoir Castle family! A family that excepts everything about you and makes you feel validated and special. The growth between Ivy and Teague was profound, but I have to admit, I that I loved seeing the continual growth from the supporting characters in the novel. To see that the relationships continue to grow and reach new levels even after their book has closed.

I am excited to see more of Ivy and Teague in the future as well as the whole family at the castle. This book left me with a book hangover and a message that I will not forget anytime soon.

As Sally said in her author's note, "To each woman who’s felt pressured to silence her inner voice, may you find the courage to be authentically yourself."

The Clairvoir Castle series is one of my favorites by Sally Britton because they're gentle romances with less angst and no third act breakups to distress me. This one is a delightful romance that brings readers into the world of Regency-era England, where Society's expectations are often at odds with personal desires.

Lady Ivy and Teague have an adorable meet-cute at the theatre and then are pleasantly surprised to find they're both staying at Clairvoir Castle. Ivy and her sisters have been invited by her cousin to spend the summer there and Teague is visiting his sister and brother-in-law.

Oh how I loved Ivy and Teague!! All their interactions are delightful and fun. Ivy struggles with Society's expectations but the arrival of Teague Frost brings a spark of excitement and change to Ivy's life. His Irish charm and flirty ways are a refreshing change to the rigid English society Ivy is used to dealing with. Watching Ivy and Teague fall in love made my romantic heart so happy.

There's so much to love about this book: the dual POV, the cricket match, the kisses, the way Teague cares for Ivy and lets her be herself, seeing characters from previous books and more! Sally Britton has written a novel that is as much about finding oneself as it is about finding love, and readers will be charmed by Ivy and Teague’s journey from start to finish.

I listened to the audiobook and loved it! The narrator is fantastic with the different voices and accents and I love that she's done all of the books in the series.

While I didn't dislike it, I didn't love this book either. For me it had some good moments, points, and charm but overall felt pretty flatline as far as story arc goes. This book felt more like a novella to introduce characters, and remind us of the worldbuilding within this series. I'll admit I'm looking forward to the next book, as it already seems promising.

Content Warnings: clean with only kissing portrayed. One of the characters in particular is very manipulative and what I might call verbally and emotionally abusive. In my opinion this book would be appropriate for 15-16+ readers depending.

Sally Britton has done it again with a beautiful and heartwarming addition to the Clairvoir Castle series.

After losing her father, the heroine, Lady Ivy Amberton, is being raised by her half-brother and his demanding wife. Under their intense scrutiny, she has learned to hide her true self.

Lord Dunmore (Teague Frost) is a charming and delightful hero. He’s an Irish baron who has learned to navigate the English peerage without losing his Irish identity. Sensing a connection with Lady Ivy, he’s determined to draw her out of her shell and get to know the real her.

This is a delightful, heartfelt story of Ivy and Teague’s journey from their initial chance meeting to their Happily Ever After (HEA).

Content is completely clean (kissing only).

I received a free Advanced Reader’s Copy (ARC) of this book but was given no monetary compensation. I read for the enjoyment and voluntarily reviewed.

Another charming addition to the Clairvoir Castle series! These never disappoint and are always perfect for a cozy low-stress read!
I love the continuation of the series. It is so exciting to see Teague again! He is so sweet. I loved how he cared for his family and how seriously he took his responsibilities. Yet, he also was light-hearted and teasing, especially with Ivy. I loved how they complimented one another and supported another. Ms. Britton writes romances where they are partners and friends as well! The way he not only supported Ivy, but also her sisters was so swoony.
Ivy was so sweet. She cared so much for her sisters. I love sister relationships and this one was so lovely! Ivy learns how to be truly herself throughout the story and the importance of her voice. She had perspective that Teague did not and a willingness to learn that was so fun to see.
It was also cool to see everyone in the series from her perspective. I loved all of the books in this series and was so excited to return to Clairvoir. The story was so well-paced and I loved the way Teague and Ivy communicated. It was such a charming read! This is a sweet historical romance with only kissing! It is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone,

I throughly enjoyed Ivy and Lord Dunmore’s story. The storyline was simple and the romance was beautiful and sweet. Like Ivy I think a lot of us feel as though we are of little worth. I enjoyed seeing Lord Dunmore and others around her help her realize her worth and potential.
It was also fun to go back to Clairvoir Castle and revisit characters from all the previous books in the series. They just keep getting better and better. If you want a good clean sweet romance pick up this book of the whole series!

While I'd read the first three books in the series I had somehow missed the fourth, so when I read this book I didn't know Teague or Ivy at all. I loved their interactions and how their friendship and then romance grew, even with distractions and expectations and all the others. I definitely had to go back and read about Lord Farleigh after some hints in this book.
Clean romance with humor and good family and friends. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

Not my favorite 'romance' novel by any means. The characters were cute, but that's the best I have to say about this book. The plot sped along and never had a chance to really develop for me, and there were multiple typo/print issues that really it seem like this was a rough draft rather than a published novel ??

Cute, clean and yet still a swoony story that has a touch of Cinderella with a “wicked stepmother” caretaker. But this time, her and her sisters are ALL being abused. An Irish gentlemen to the rescue who is a little smug, but in a fun way - not a too-much-so-you’re-annoyed way. Their first meeting left me smiling. Then, the sudden, secret engagement was a fun twist, and all the supporting side characters from previous books made quite the cheer tribe. I look forward to reading the next sister’s story!

I truly enjoy this cast of characters and the shenanigans they get into throughout the series. I really enjoyed reading Ivy and Teague's story, though I do wish it were a bit longer. I would have loved to see them make their way to Ireland. I'm looking forward to the next installment.
