The Orb is an interesting premise, well-executed. The story is timeless and without location, but incorporating universal themes of courage, determination, resisting temptation, and self-sacrifice. This is better written than some of Paul's other work, and I recommend it very highly. Some people might finds parts of it "a bit dark", but such is the nature of this titanic struggle against evil. And I like how it ends.
