Ah, more like Scream Your Therapy Session Across the School Auditorium, I guess? The ongoing drama between Aki and Shiho comes to a rocking conclusion this volume and, well, it’s a great volume for those who like big swings.

This story is two things - huge dramatics and yuri paradise. Neither of those is inherently bad, although I don’t necessarily want this little nuance in most yuri. This is the kind of world where you can put your feelings on display for everybody to see with no shame. A better world, perhaps, but certainly idealized either way.

As befits the two of them, Aki and Shiho remain pretty stubborn. Even knowing that Shiho was in love with her, Aki is forced to acknowledge her feelings for Yori, or, more accurately, figure out what they are.

The fact that she’s happy for Yori and Himari suggests that she sort-of knows, but that also means Aki has to confront her feelings for Shiho too. Which is difficult when Shiho feels she’s said her piece and that’s that.

Neatly, this gives Himari her chance at a little hero moment. One thing this arc has really lacked is quality Yori and Himari content, even though I did enjoy their couple of meetings (and Himari’s innocent cosplay fantasy).

Everything goes big here, which sort of fits with the emotional tenor of these kids. It’s not that I dislike its bombast, but it does feel a bit much at the end of that concert. It’s a sweet way to wrap it up, but also a lot.

And, well, we don’t have that many long-running yuri as it is and I would miss this if it were gone. Yet another story arc is starting up, and that looks to be back to some old fashioned dating and that’ll be a nice change of pace from this one.

It’s very harmless with an emotional undertone that sometimes does good work. I wouldn’t say this made me love Shiho, but she and Aki might make for an interesting matchup going forward (if nothing else their dynamic is complete unlike Yori and Himari’s). If not, the manga seems dead set on pairing everybody with somebody, so there will be options.

4 stars - it’s good to have this back, especially after it got brutally screwed over with regards to the anime adaptation. An enjoyable ride and solid conclusion to a long arc; I certainly won’t be upset when the next volume arrives.

Whisper Me a Love Song (Vol. 1-9) by Eku Takeshima

My Song for this Book:
Easy - City Girl

General Thoughts:
Ive read a little bit of yuri manga before I was recommended this one, but I would certainly say Whisper Me a Love Song is the favourite so far. The characters, the ways they interact, and the many different kinds of themes it draws on while still delivering a cute, heartwarming sense of joy is definitely very lovely, and while a pretty common staple of these high school romance type mangas, this one does it incredibly well.
By far and without a single doubt, my favourite arcs in this manga are ones centred around Himari and Yori. Something about Yori as a character, and the way that she and Himari develop their ability to experience, accept, and demonstrate love, is so beautiful to me. In particular, their first date after becoming lovers is incredibly beautifully handled: the change in their relationship, where Himari wants things to develop more, but Yori wants to take her foot off the gas now that she's won Himari's heart, creates a tension that is very gorgeously handled and creates a beautiful moment between the two. The nerves they experience about not only new things (holding hands, going to each others houses, and especially kissing) but also about old things developing - like the decreased time they get on the rooftop together, and the development of their dates - is also very well handled. I especially like how Himari, despite being the younger, shy one, often does a lot of the emotional developing and is often, in small, quiet ways, the one between them who pushes for their relationship to move forward: she offers the first kiss, she asks to sleep over first, and so on.
At first, Aki and Shiho's relationship was quite dull to me. It was quite predictable how Shiho felt so the big reveal on why she left the band fell flat to me, and in general her attitude towards Kyou made it difficult to root for her because I thought Kyou seemed like a wonderful girl. However, towards the later chapters, I think that the effort Aki puts into her love for Shiho, and Shiho finally trying to change and be less aggressive about her feelings, made their love quite beautiful (it also kept Aki away from Yori, which makes me happy).

Art Style:
The art in this manga is beautiful! In particular I love how Takeshima uses bleeding and dynamic sizing of panels to emphasise certain moments while also creating a quite seamless flow to the whole manga. I found myself saving a lot of the pages because there were so many panels that were stunning, especially in big moments like Yori and Hima's first kiss, and Laureley's performance. I did find myself becoming noticeably less engaged with the art in some of the later chapters - I think a lot of the emotional moments around Miki and Aya in Vol. 9 especially seemed quite underwhelming artistically. Overall, though, a gorgeous manga.

Closing Thoughts!
This is a lovely manga and perfect for anyone who knows they enjoy yuri. It plays with common tropes of the genre very well with magnetic and interesting characters, good comedy, and lovely mushy scenes.

Holy heck finally... I comepltey forgot this volume got translated finally. Apparently months ago but as soon as I saw it was out I headed to the store. I'm so glad the next volume is out as well. ARGHH I've missed this series!
Pretty solid volume I'm happy this whole arc is finally coming to an end. Shiho has been an amazing character starting off as super unlikable but by this volume I was rooting for her. I'll give the author credit for doing such a great arc. However the big problem, isn't this manga about Himari and Yori? For most of the comic there's been a split between romance stuff and band stuff, and now the main couple is together for the last few volumes the focus is basically all on Shiho and Aki. While yes these are great characters! We came for Himari and Yori's relationship. And we only get one (two counting the panel of them dancing) moment with them as a couple! Come on! I mean I love drama and I would rather have an interesting story rather than just romance slop but it's really annoying that the main leads are being pushed to the side.
I'm just glad the Shiho redemption arc is wrapped up,
It seems the next volume is gonna focus on the new relationship. I'm hoping that doesn't mean Himari and Yori will be pushed to the side.

Yori called Aki her bestfriend ouuuugh i love them your honor 🙂‍↕️

honestly god bless Hima for being even more stubborn than Shiho is

Aki's confession to Shiho was so lovely, and i ADORE the fact that even after that Shiho is still being a little shit with her. the teasing, the cheekiness, the boldness of saying "i don't intend on going back to being "just" friends", THE CHEEK KISS!!! love love love their dynamic so much

also Shiho hallucinating Kyou in her mind during Aki's song... yeah excuse me i'll go cry myself to sleep.

Decided to jump back into this series and power through the volumes I had left. So this review is for Volumes 7-10.

I just adore these two. They are so sweet and I just want more of their relationship constantly. I was shocked with one relationship but really happy that it happened by the end of the series. It's such a cozy series. Ends in such a lovely way and has some sweet extras in the last volume.

It’s been far too long since I read volume 8 so I’d kind of forgotten things, and the confusion isn’t helped by the amount of musical girl yuri I’ve been reading lately, so I think my enjoyment suffered a little for that, but it was still good. My memory refreshed a bit as I went through, and I’m glad to see the end of the festival arc and hopefully get back to moving forward with Yori and Himari in the next volume.

Pretty solid conclusion to the arc. I wish this had been out when I was actively reading the series but I guess translation does take a good bit of time. It definitely did like the solution was a bit too easy but I do appreciate how this arc dealt with pride and how relationships and communication don’t work when you’re not willing to give it up.

The school festival arc is over and it ends happily enough. A little bit too many tropes seen in many stuff before but still an entertaining series. I'm gonna keep reading and hope the next volume really picks up with the new arc the creator is teasing.

Very Good, but only 1 star for how long it took to be released

Finishes the 2nd arc of the series (Books 4 to 9) and is more or less the final episode of the Anime series released last year.

Btw Book 1 was released in the West in October 2020, and this one was released in Japan March 2024 (the episode of the anime this lines up with was released 9 months later
