Exile

In the kingdom of Kalia where magic is outlawed, two friends studying together as initiate monks are close to choosing their life paths. Jerome has a natural and miraculous talent for healing, but doesn't know what he wants to do with his life. His friend Lucien has a driving ambition to join the Inquisition as he has an obsessive hatred of sorcery. When the monastery they call home is raided by man-beasts - minions of the Dark One - Jerome unwittingly releases a latent magical ability and flees for his life. He is pursued by the Inquisition and Lucien. He soon discovers he is also being hunted by the Dark One himself. Jerome is torn as he tries to come to terms with his magical ability because the use of which is against his beliefs and those of the Church. He is joined on his journey by Elyssa, a young girl who herself is marked for death because of a knife she possesses, although she doesn't know why.To further add to the woes of Jerome and Lucien, they both begin to experience strange dreams which seem to be linked.
