As Margot Benny hit her thirties, she faced a stark choice. Stay in London and fail, or move home and fail there.

She was once hailed as the ‘Cravat Queen’, London's premier cravat designer, but now faces a reckoning. Her thriving business and love life has crumbled, leaving her no choice but to retreat to her quaint hometown of Ampton-on-Sea. There, she discovers her father's village shop teetering on the edge of collapse, threatened by a corporate juggernaut known as "Cheap Cheese". The man spearheading the acquisition? None other than the enigmatic and laser focused, Jack Dangerfield.

As Margot battles to save her father's legacy, she finds herself drawn to Jack—a man with dark secrets of his own. Could this unexpected connection blossom into something more serious for them both? Jack's malevolent brother and CEO of Cheap Cheese, Dereck Kingsley, schemes to wrest control of the shop through a hostile takeover by fair means or foul, and if he can’t get the shop, he will destroy the village and all of it’s colourful inhabitants. Margot needs all the allies she can get in this fight and calls on her loyal childhood friends, the spirited, but socially inept aristocrat, Bunty, and August, a mother navigating the chaos her unruly sons leave in their wake.

Desperate to ensure the success of Cheap Cheese for their own greed are Bunty’s mother Jessabelle, a jilted aristocrat and Marion, the local busybody and part-time devil worshipper.

In this heartwarming tale of resilience, kinship, and cravats, Margot must weave a new design—one that defies corporate greed, embraces community, and rekindles love. Can she outwit Dereck, save the village shop, and find redemption for herself in her beloved Ampton-on-Sea?

Packed with romance, friendship, humour and surprises, ‘From Cravats to Cheese’ is the perfect summer read, with a completely fresh take on the romantic comedy genre, unlike anything else you have read before.

"As Margot Benny hit her thirties, she faced a stark choice. Stay in London and fail, or move home and fail there."

What the heck did I just read??? This was back to back slapstick humour silliness and my first intro to parody writing. I follow the author and their memes are hilarious, so I had to give this book a go.

It was silly, sweet, bizarre and just everything in between. Twist and turns within the plot that even I didn't know what was up or down. And so so many clowns! Donna the mafia landlady was off her rocker and I thought bunty was brilliant! (I'll be staying away from her elixir and gin!) It was so bizarre and gross. I definitely think Dereck is a misunderstood soul.

Also... Warm Chardonnay??? Definitely serial killer vibes!!!

I hear a third is in the pipework. (Not the literal factory pipework... Third in the series)

You'll love this book if you like;
- parody romance
- slapstick humour
- improv... "And then"
- lighthearded silly
- toilet humour
- British country scene

Hilarious, heartfelt, and completely unhinged in the best way.
Margot’s journey from cravat queen to small-town underdog had me hooked.
It’s romcom chaos with a twist of cheese and just the right amount of heart.

I had no idea what to expect when I read this, but this book was so fun and silly. It had that cheesy 80s/90s comedy feel to it where all the jokes and comedy were just ridiculous in the best way. I think the plot of both of these stories worked well to incorporate the humour and satirical nature of the book. The author of this story knew exactly what sort of book they wanted to write, and they did it really well. If you're not a fan of romance or even if you are and you have read a romance book you didn't like and it's put you in a bad mood or a slump then this is exactly the book you should pick up afterwards as it's so fun and easy to read. Both the stories are interesting, and since they are set in a small town, you get to know all the characters quote well across the two stories and I think the setting worked really well for the type of story that this is. This is unapologetically exactly what it says it will be, and I think that it was a really refreshing read as it was satirical but not in a negative way that took away from the humour of the book.
